We knew this little spot was jammed on Saturdays (closed on Sundays) so we went during the week. There is seating on a little front deck, as well as inside. We had breakfast: I had the croissant special (tomato jam, bacon, cheese -- the tomato jam really made the sammich, and the croissant was moist not crumbly) and spouse had the French toast stack (piled up brioche with eggs and choice of breakfast protein, he had sausage patties). We had lattes: mine with honey and cinnamon (cafe con miel), his was vanilla, both hot and quite sweet. The food was excellent! The popular fuss is legit, and the counter service was courteous. I just signed up on Yelp and wanted to make my first review on my favorite local establishment- Speakeasy! I have never had better coffee anywhere else within a 50 mile radius... at least for real coffee anyway. Not that junk, sugary crap that is only good for inducing diabetes. Speakeasy uses Onyx coffee which is an Arkansas company and in my opinion provides the absolute best coffees money can buy. The Cuban is my favorite as it is not too sweet but just enough to complement the espresso. The food here is always on point as well. Everything I've had is good but my go to is the fried bologna breakfast sandwich. If you're looking for a wide open atmosphere and plenty of distance between strangers you may want to look elsewhere. It is a smaller establishment but in the nicer weather months has outdoor, patio seating. My family and I have absolutely loved this place and the owners since they opened. read more

This happened around noon the 11/28 (today) Edit: Reading the responses to the negative reviews left about the unkind staff here and seems like the owner encourages this kind of behavior :,,) Welp, I hope this at least finds potential customers well. Man I never leave reviews for places (good or bad). but I'm really just leaving this so the manager can hopefully see it and address it. I want to preface I'm super understanding and have a ton of patience and empathy for service industry and my attitude always reflects that when interacting with these workers. We're visiting family from out of town for the holidays and I just needed some caffeine for the afternoon so I came here. When I came in, I ordered an iced dirty chai latte with oatmilk. To be clear, I would never ask for hot because I only really drink iced coffee and I have ordered this specific drink a miiiiiillion times. I also am in the service industry and used to be a barista for a few years so I understand how to be detailed with my coffee order. Not to mention, I tipped them out of respect for the industry at the register before all of this, which I now regret. There was a barista with short brown hair making the drinks and when she handed me my drink it was a hot chai, which is completely fine, mistakes happen. I very softly and politely said "I'm so sorry, but I asked for this drink hot." She took the drink out of my hand, rolled her eyes, huffed at me, and walked away without saying anything. It was very obvious that she wanted me to see she was irritated. My dad and I thought maybe she was just frustrated that the order was rang up wrong on their end to not jump to conclusions. Not even 20 seconds later she hands me a cup of warm milk with like 4 tiny ice cubes in it. I almost left without asking for my drink to be corrected but I went and let her know my drink was warm and super watery. I paid $8 for this drink btw. She said "Yeah I dumped your drink over ice." (The piping hot steamed drink that was incorrectly made lol) My dad jumped in and said "Don't you make iced drinks differently than that? She asked for it to be iced twice at the register." She literally said "Yeah but sometimes people lie and I don't know if she actually asked for it to be iced or if it was a mistake." The audacity first of all. If your team rang in the wrong drink, you don't just POUR the the drink into another cup and hand it to them. I did my part ordering and I shouldn't have been getting told that people are liars, implying that I'm being dishonest about a simple iced coffee that was made wrong. I never have spoken to a customer like that in my experience of serving people even when frustrated. My dad and her had a bit of a heated argument because my dad was so taken aback by the lack of respect or customer service. So was I, but I'm less confrontational. When my dad asked why she was accusing me of lying, she said "I didn't say she was a liar, I said PEOPLE are liars, what is she an ALIEN?" waving her hands in the air. My dad raised his voice a little in reaction, but she was literally bickering at us across the bar while making my drink when my dad was questioning why her attitude was so sour, especially for something so trivial and during the holidays. Considering how kind I was to her on each occasion we spoke I just can't believe how rude and accusatory she was. I understand that people have bad days, but this seems to be more of trait than the result of a bad day. The initial scoffing and eye rolls, pouring a hot beverage over ice and making a bad drink out of SPITE, accusing customers of lying, and arguing with someone just for asking for common hospitality. Cannot believe it. My latte was actually very good when it was made correctly! My dad and I would have been back for coffee and breakfast tomorrow morning before driving back to Texas, but definitely going somewhere else after this. Happy Thanksgiving! read more

The wait was short even though there were a lot of people.. the ONLY reason I'm giving 3 stars is bc the girl making coffee/serving was the rudest human I've met in awhile and givin the state of the world right now, that's saying a lot. We had a 30 second interaction that RUINED my opinion of a small business and that's on her. Owner messaged saying "Ever had a bad day? We are lucky she didn't walk out and leave us short handed" you can allow employees take bad days out on customers. I'm a business owner and never take my bad days out on my clients... I decided to update my review. After eating there again, I would rather not give Speakeasy my money. The food was really good. But it was not friendly service. It is just a turnoff, and it totally trumps the good food for me. I'd rather give someone my money who serves great food, with a genuinely nice attitude towards customers. And to clarify from the response of my last review years ago, since yelp wont let you respond to a comment made, I did not "receive a refund" and there was no "profuse apology." So, whatever readers and reviewers want to believe... You can't make up something you did to sound better on this platform. That did not happen, and I'm very disappointed that this is what it's come to. At this time, Speakeasy workers just remade my food and there was obvious annoyance that they had to (eye rolling, verbal responses, huffs and puffs). I've never forgotten this exact incident, and it's why it took 2 years to go back. However you choose to respond to this, I would just warn reviewers that it probably won't be truthful unless there's responsibility taken for it. read more

When I visit other cities I prefer to patronize small businesses. Instead of eating breakfast at Cracker Barre I suggested we check out this gem. They are not in an ideal location. I don't think you would just stop in as you passed by, your visit would have to be intentional. It is easy to locate using a standard GPS app on your phone. Due to COVID-19 they are not currently offering dinning services, but don't let that stop you from ordering something to go. When we went there were two staff, a very nice lady helped us decide what to order and checked us out. A young man was responsible for preparing the food. The menu includes various drink options, breakfast and lunch choices offered all day. I had a vanilla latte with almond milk ($4.85), and the grown up grilled cheese( $12.00)My boyfriend ordered the breakfast burrito($8.00). The grown up grilled cheese included a drink of choice and a bag of chips or an apple. I think the prices are fairly comparable to any other restaurant you would eat at. My latte was everything I needed it to be. The grilled cheese was prepared to perfection. The bread was nicely toasted , and I really enjoyed the taste combo of mushrooms, tomatoes, and cheese. This did include a bacon jam, however I gave that to my boyfriend since I don't eat pork. He said it was really good. He also enjoyed his burrito. He mentioned that he appreciates that it was not stuffed primarily with eggs. He has already said that we will be stopping by on our return drive home. A popular and high-quality coffee shop experience. The food is good, the drinks tend to be over-sweet (if flavored) but otherwise well-poured. Some of the clientele can be vociferous and rude, but that's not something the shop can regulate, really. Missing star for lack of Covid protocols and general busy-store cleanliness issues. This little bistro offers indoor and outdoor seating. They offer a breakfast and lunch menu with a good variety offered. I love that they have fresh squeezed orange juice. I am not a fan of ice in my OJ, so if you are like me, you may want to ask for yours without ice. All the same, it was still great. The caramel latte was very good- it did not need any sweeteners. I ordered the 3-2-1 and a bagel and my wife got the smoked salmon club. The entire meal was fantastic! The best surprise was the strawberry jam- it was amazing! I was just passing through and stopped here as it was close to my air b n b. I was warmly greeted like a local and then when asked for advice on if a beverage was too sweet she said I could do it half sweet! It came out perfect (cafe con Miel). I also got their grilled cheese with Jam Sandwich and it was amazing! So creamy and not overly sweet and the crunch of the sour dough bread was a prefect. It came with a couple pieces of fresh fruit. It was prepared quickly and brought right to my seat! The decor was cute and relaxed and you could tell this was a local hub with the energy in it.
