I've been a client for for about 18 months and found that they stand behind their work too. After I had a tooth repaired and had a small cosmetic issue (minor chip), they repaired it at no cost again since it was recently done and to me that shows integrity and pride in their work. Opportunity to improve: it's a small office and they have small office systems. I wish they had online portal for managing payments, scheduling, and retrieving records/receipts. I would also love to store my HSA card with them (I always forget to use it there) but they don't have the ability to archive credit card securely so they don't archive them at all. (I appreciate that policy and then looking out for my financial details, but wish they would have a secure system so I could spend those HSA dollars more easily).

I had a bad experience at another dentist in IB in which I Waited 2 hours to be seen and ended up walking out. I called IB family dentistry and told them I was in pain and they offered to get me in the same day but due to my time constraints I was in a few days. After filling out paperwork I was in and out in 30 minutes including x rays. Unfortunately I needed a root canal and instead of waiting, they referred me out to a very nice specialist to get me out of pain ASAP! Dr Robinson does a good job of explaining what's going on and the plan of care. A good dentist is a hard thing to find and I have definitely found my regular dentist.

I think not! I scheduled am exam here with x-rays, and, guess what? Dr. Contreras said everything looked fine and I just needed a cleaning. Go figure. I was nearly scammed for insurance money, if I had believed the other office. They were very aggressive in pushing their payment plans and making an appointment. This is what made me seek a second opinion, and I have stayed with Dr. Contreras ever since. He has a gentle chairside manner, and tells you exactly what you need, never upsellng you anything like deep cleanings, teeth whitenings, etc. They take only certain I insurances, so I missed a year when I lost my insurance. This is a very efficient, reliable, trustworthy dentist and office. Always get a second opinion when in doubt...I am very happy coming here. I will be very sad if he retires!

This is a sad and unfortunate situation…read more Dr. Contreras is actually a good dentist. He is kind and gentle, everything one wants from a dentist. The problem is his staff - in particular a woman named DEBBIE who is mean and ugly to patients (to me and my family) and you feel like you're speaking with an IRS collection agent. She has created a nonprofessional environment -- that after being with Dr. Contreras for six years, we have decided we must find another dentist that offers professional staffing. I wish with all my heart I could recommend Dr. Contreras but I don't want anyone to go through the torture of Debbie. Her tone is condescending, and she speaks over you while you try to talk. She calls you an hour before your appointment to tell you how much money you MUST pay at that visit to receive services -- something never communicated beforehand in previous conversations in making the appointment until that moment. Unprofessional to the core. This is my second review. 3 Stars on 2/16/21 -- now it goes down to ONE STAR because the good doctor has not seen fit to create a better staffing environment - that is on him.

The office did not provide me with any facts about what to expect (required by law) The dentures do not fit . So for the last 4 months I have not been able to eat solid food . DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST ..... DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST…read moreunless you want to be in pain for days, weeks maybe even months (I am going on my 2nd month of constant pain) and have a bottomless cash bag to recover from his errors, which he will not own to it in any way. I went for a root canal a little over a month ago. The result of the procedure he conducted was a bruised face, sores inside my mouth and TMJ (locked jaw). I did not know TMJ could be this painful. Of course, after getting those results, I did not go back to him for the crown. I have called him several times for help.... his suggestions so far: 1) A generic mouth guard from the pharmacy (not working so far) 2) Go see a specialist 3) Maybe the dentist that did the crown did something wrong. Never mind that the TMJ and sores were after his procedure (by day 4 I have pics). I pushed him to agree to do a custom-made mouth guard last week, but now he backed out of it. Apparently, the fact that the tooth hurts still is the ONLY thing that matters. Never mind that I have not had solid food for almost a month, I have bad headaches from the TMJ which makes it difficult to sleep or talk for an extended period of time (more than a few minutes) or even study. I am trying to work on a certification scheduled for July 15th but with all this pain studying is very difficult. So that will be yet another expense due to his incompetency, having to re-schedule. No matter what I say to Dr. Mariano, he has not taken responsibility for anything, not even the bruised face, not even an apology, NOTHING. I have had 3 root canals in my life and I have never had these issues, NEVER. If I were him I would be issuing a full refund at this point, if for no other reason, because his incompetence means I will have to go see a specialist about the TMJ, which he kindly indicated is not even cover by insurance. See pictures attached. Apologies if they are gross, but I really want to warn you. FIND ANOTHER DENTIST. I went to him out of desperation in the middle of everything being closed due to CV-19. Also, the law offices of Dean Schweitzer will tell you how a dentist can cause you to get TMJ, poorly placed dental implants, uneven fillings, faulty bridges or crowns, improperly placed braces, and orthodontic appliances. Not as a normal result of a normal dental procedure. In my case, a temporary tooth left too big which was pushing on both the front and back tooth. Sometimes TMJ can ONLY be solved with surgery https://www.dschweitzerlaw.com/dental-malpractice/tmj/ Note: The procedure was on the right side of the face, but some of these are selfies so they look like the left side. FYI - You should NEVER have bruising after a RC.
