Well, I came here because of reviews on Yelp and word of mouth. Truth-Dr Luo is great! He gets 5 stars. The problem- office staff has just been horrible after a few of weeks of Coming here. Office staff would make my appts without my requests. They would call while I'm at work saying there's an opening right away and expect me to just drop my stuff at work and leave. I left 2 messages back on the first week of June to schedule appts for first week of July during my vacation and since then, I've received no callback. Now, if I was to get a callback regarding appts for the first or 2nd week of July, they'll most likely say there's nothing opened and that'll be because of the office staff of not responding to messages. Of course they'll say they never got my messages in June but that's not the case. I've been interacting with them at the same number for the past couple months. Again, great Dentist. Poor office workers. Dr needs to have a talk with them. read more

I came in with toothache and he took X-rays and sent me on my way. I had to go to another dentist to get my tooth taken care of. The dentist was apparently going in vacation so he probably was already on vacation mode. The most awful part of my experience is I keep getting emails and letters I owe money????? What the heck for X-rays??? My insurance covers that! Unbelievable!!!!! read more

I went to see Dr Lou for a 2nd opinion. I have been having problems for six months with pain on the right side of my mouth, teeth, gums, and jaw . Dr Lou found the problem and quickly took care of it. Now I have no pain at all. He is highly recommended. He's a very caring and explains everything while he's doing any procedures. I used to visit Dr. Luo's office back during 2008-2013 timeframe. Since then I have moved to Georgia. But just wanted to leave a review for them. I had always encountered kindness and great customer service from the front desk as well as those performing treatment on my teeth. I used to bring my daughter here as well and never encountered any issues. If I still lived in Imperial Beach, I would still be visiting this dental office. read more

Dr. Steven Lou is a great dentist. He is kind, respectful and professional. He tells you step by step what he is going to do with your teeth which I appreciate it. I highly recommend Dr. Steven Lou for any dental work that you need. I've seen four dentists in my whole entire life the first one passed away, he was my dentist for 30 years the second one retired and third one is not so good. Luo and Robinson will help you get the best possible smile with their years of experience and sound knowledge base. I've been coming here since Dr. Luo has been practicing at this location (5+ years). Even though I have moved further away, I continue to make the drive to see him. He is that good. Recently, they have acquired some state of the art equipment, some of which allows you to see your dental x-rays on a computer monitor. It's always nice to know that your dentist keeps up with technological advances that help improve the quality of patient care. Came here with my girlfriend and on our first visit, they had a nice welcome sign with her name on it welcoming her as their newest patient! Wow! that was nice! Personalized attention, and a warm welcome here. Waiting lobby isnt bad at all either, they had lots of very interesting reading material. The service here is beyond compare, you are treated like family instead of a patient. Located right across the street from Wallys, and CVS in Imperial Beach.. always easy parking. They explained my insurance to me and helped me make decisions to utilize it to it's full potential. The dental assistant is great. Friendly, and experienced. Dr. Luo and staff were the dentist of myself and 4 children for probably close to 8-9 years. Unfortunately we had to switch because the driving distance became an issue. I am super sad about it too because I just LOVED this office! I can't say enough good things. Let's start with the front desk staff: sweet, friendly, helpful. With 4 children we spent quite a bit of time there, and I actually miss Stephanie a bit. She was just always so kind to my children. She would make sure to go over every procedure and piece of paper concerning insurance, with me. Dr. Luo is incredibly friendly, great with the little ones, patient, and you can tell he knows what he's doing. I wish I could give them more then 5 stars. We miss them dearly! read more

I dont usually do this but i was so blown away by the service. They opened early for me because they knew i had work and was so nice about it. My name was on a black board welcoming me as a new patient. The women at the front desk is so helpful. I am a military dependent and she knows that process so well. They let me split up payments and tried to get everything in that first hour done because they know tri-care/metlife only pays for the first hour. The DDS was so funny and friendly. She was honest and told me what i should get done and what i can wait on. No pressure about anything. They did a full neck, jaw, and tooth check up. Left no stone un-turned. I had some great laughs and enjoyed my visit. I then reievce a generic letter, with a hand written note at the bottom which made me smile. I will not go anywhere else as long as they are around. read more

These are the nicest, most down-to-earth medical personnel I have encountered. I was so impressed with them that I'm writing my first yelp review ever! Today was my 1st appointment with them. Steffany, the receptionist, is so pleasant to talk to! Honestly, never met a nicer person over the phone. I called to get a feel for their office a few weeks ago when looking for a new dentist, and her helpfulness & cheerfulness (in discussing my insurance, etc.) cemented my decision to choose this office for my dental work. When someone canceled their appointment, she called me twice to offer the vacant spot to see if I wanted to take it. Christine/Christen took all my x-rays and was really chill & gave good vibes. She was professional and answered all my questions. Dr. Robinson was thorough in her examination of my teeth--asking questiins, answering questions, looking under every crook & cranny of my neglected teeth (2 years without dental insurance ), then giving me a detailed analysis of what work needed to be done on each tooth and WHY. I have never had a dentist sit there and take the time to explain the terminology and facts behind what work is needed on my teeth. I felt that she was completely honest with me, and very thorough. Awesome. On my way out, Steffany took 20 minutes to go over the costs of the procedures I will need. (I'm going to need an onlay in all 4 quadrants of my mouth! Don't think I'm gross--I have great oral hygiene, it's just that I grind my teeth!) Where was she when I was figuring out which insurance to choose?! She was SO helpful and explained the advantages/disadvantages of my insurance in regard to the dental work. You can tell that these people want to help you take care of your teeth, and are not trying to make a quick buck off of you. I am so incredibly pleased with the treatment I had today. I am a senior on social security with no dental insurance. I needed an extraction and this office was close to the bus so I took a chance. This office is Great! They gave me an early A.M. appointment the next day. I walked in and saw my name on the chalkboard welcoming me as a new patient. Nice! Pam, Stephany and Christine were wonderful. Very pleasant, helpful and good listeners. Dr. Luo was friendly and efficient, and had my tooth out painlessly in no time. Knowing that I had no insurance, they did everything they could to keep my bill as low as possible, and I was happy to pay it on my way out. Pam even gave me a couple of Beanie Babies for my granddaughter! Customer service is great, African american lady who does the teeth cleaning is great. Haven't had the chance to meet DR. Steven but there is a Caucasian lady who does the cavities and she is horrible it took her forever to clean two cavities and in the mist of it she ruin my nerves so now I need a root canal.
