Dr Mariano and his staff appeared trustworthy at first. He recommended I have all my teeth (22) extracted and have dentures made by him. I trusted him. The office did not provide me with any facts about what to expect (required by law) The dentures do not fit . So for the last 4 months I have not been able to eat solid food . DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST ..... DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST unless you want to be in pain for days, weeks maybe even months (I am going on my 2nd month of constant pain) and have a bottomless cash bag to recover from his errors, which he will not own to it in any way. I went for a root canal a little over a month ago. The result of the procedure he conducted was a bruised face, sores inside my mouth and TMJ (locked jaw). I did not know TMJ could be this painful. Of course, after getting those results, I did not go back to him for the crown. I have called him several times for help.... his suggestions so far: 1) A generic mouth guard from the pharmacy (not working so far) 2) Go see a specialist 3) Maybe the dentist that did the crown did something wrong. Never mind that the TMJ and sores were after his procedure (by day 4 I have pics). I pushed him to agree to do a custom-made mouth guard last week, but now he backed out of it. Apparently, the fact that the tooth hurts still is the ONLY thing that matters. Never mind that I have not had solid food for almost a month, I have bad headaches from the TMJ which makes it difficult to sleep or talk for an extended period of time (more than a few minutes) or even study. I am trying to work on a certification scheduled for July 15th but with all this pain studying is very difficult. So that will be yet another expense due to his incompetency, having to re-schedule. No matter what I say to Dr. Mariano, he has not taken responsibility for anything, not even the bruised face, not even an apology, NOTHING. I have had 3 root canals in my life and I have never had these issues, NEVER. If I were him I would be issuing a full refund at this point, if for no other reason, because his incompetence means I will have to go see a specialist about the TMJ, which he kindly indicated is not even cover by insurance. See pictures attached. Apologies if they are gross, but I really want to warn you. FIND ANOTHER DENTIST. I went to him out of desperation in the middle of everything being closed due to CV-19. Also, the law offices of Dean Schweitzer will tell you how a dentist can cause you to get TMJ, poorly placed dental implants, uneven fillings, faulty bridges or crowns, improperly placed braces, and orthodontic appliances. Not as a normal result of a normal dental procedure. In my case, a temporary tooth left too big which was pushing on both the front and back tooth. WE LOVE this dentist office. I googled every possible nearby dentist on a hunt for the right one for me. My wisdom teeth had been KILLING me. I had already lost over 2 weeks of sleep from the pain. So Dr. Mariano's office was the one that gave me the most information over the phone. I spoke with Carmen and she was the most knowledgeable in the topic. I really felt comfortable speaking with her. My appointment day arrived and I was surprised to see the location. I had driven by it a million times and had no idea it had been there the whole time. It's right across the street from the post office! So I come in the office and WOW, it's super clean, good music and I'm greeted right away by Carmen. I was given the opportunity to fill out all my information online so checking in was super easy. The appointment was breezy, super gentle and fun. I think the person that assisted me was Maribel, Mari something, I'm sorry, but she was super adorable, funny, and very understanding. Dr. Mariano was also very funny and understanding. He was able to pull 3 of my wisdom teeth, but unfortunately, 1 was compacted. Lord he tried, he really, really tried. (I still have it, lol, but it doesn't hurt anymore, so I just left it.) I also brought my 6 year old to this office. They are so wonderful with kids. I'll put it to you this way. My son had a cavity filled and he didn't even know it! They were so gentle. He has already visited this office twice for a cleaning and a cavity fill. Negative experience.Went to my appointment to this office and the first thing that didn't check out is the receptionist tried to make me pay co payment when my plan states i have zero co payment,next,when waiting for Mr Arnel Mariano he enters the room without greeting me or introducing himself ,just starts asking questions as to my visit,after X rays,he says he can't do certain procedure but he can recommend some one else ,then the co payment receptionist comes in saying my insurance does not cover any of the procedures ,so i leave the office and proceed to call my insurance to enquire about it,and they tell me that they will cover said procedures 100% percent,i thought about going back to clarify this with the dental office,but decided that they must not need the business and went to a different dentist,DO NOT GO tho this place if you value your time and are looking for a profesional environment read more

Was recommended this dentist by a friend who was a former dental assistant. I, myself have 10 years of dental experience and I am picky with my dentist. Dr. Mariano was amazing! Friendly, funny, and has a lot of certifications. A hidden office in a residential street! Front office staff were great and friendly! Robert the Dental Assistant was cool and welcoming and great with his X-rays. The hygienist who did my cleaning was great and funny as well. I had one cavity and they presented my treatment planned and offered it to be done the same day. Overall an excellent visit and experience! Checkup, cleaning, X-rays, and a filling within 2 hours! First impressions, the staff at front desk was very rude. We were told we were too early because they didn't open until 10am and there was no staff. But we were told to be there at 9:45. The women were very condescending when asking me to fill out forms. They talked to me like I was stupid. We were then told to wait in our car since they removed all the seats in the lobby due to Covid. They called us in and told me I couldn't stay with my 7 year old but I insisted. I finally got my way. I Brought my mom here to her dentist appointment. I let her walk in first while I parked the car. After parking, i walked in and the receptionist says to me, "I guess you'll be our translator, we did our best yesterday in English and Spanish". (I don't know what she's talking about regarding yesterday. This is my mom's first time here) Me: (blank stare) Cool for assuming I speak Spanish, because I never get that since I appear African American (my mother is Hispanic) But did she even bother to say anything to my mom who speaks perfectly good English? And by the way, I don't even speak Spanish. If my mom needed a translator I'm sure she would have taught me. Another woman comes out to call my mom in, and the receptionist tells her to speak to my mom in Spanish. During the call Carmen began to talk to me as if I was bothering her, and took a condescending tone over the phone. I gave her my name, DOB, SSN, and dental insurance company name. She began to question if I really have insurance and express doubt that I did. I informed her most places I've called before take my info down and then THEY look it up to confirm. She then again began to talk down to me asking how do you not know what state your insurance is from... I found this dentist on yelp and i don't know why there aren't more reviews! I was in need of a root canal bad and my experience here was amazing the staff is super nice. Dr Mariano makes you feel comfortable and talks to you as if he has met you before. I really liked that, made my nerves calm down. Ive never had a root canal and to be honest it did not hurt at all! He was quick about it and took xrays to make sure he did the procedure correctly. The assistant Maricel on point she knows what shes doing and made me feel comfortable as well. This place is an extension of my family. I've been coming here for over 10 years now, and while my childhood dentists used to scare the $#!^ out of me, I always look forward to a visit with Dr. Mariano. Here's how much my family and I love him: - my parents moved to Japan and they fly out here to see him. - I moved to Irvine and I drive down to see him. - I got my fiance to see him too, haha. - I'm in Philly now and I still refuse to see anybody else. I have been called over and over and over (as reminders) to come back in and get my crown done for a root canal I've had. Unfortunately, I work two jobs with no time off, ever, so it really limits when I can come in. That apparently doesn't matter to them. Dr. Mariano has been my dentist since 2012 and I always refer people to his office. Unfortunately, I have a very close relationship with the office staff because I have destroyed my teeth with Diet Coke and constantly need root canals! But I am always happy with the help I receive in the office, and am very satisfied with all of the work they have done. For the record, someone gave the office a 3 star rating because Carmen kept calling them to get a crown on the root canal. YOU NEED A CROWN ON YOUR ROOT CANAL! If not, your tooth will get brittle and break even more, which would lead to a nasty infection. It just happened to my dad. Also, I just had a root canal, and for medical reasons have had to leave a crown off of my last root canal, and 3 weeks later the tooth has broken even more. read more

Despite the "vigorous massage" my gums get every time I visit for a cleaning, I really like this place, it feels like family whenever I go here! Their new office on Emory St. is bright compared to their old location and Dr. Mariano is someone you can have a chill conversation with. Everything is computerized (X-rays, records, etc...) and everyone is just on the ball. I was referred by my fiance, who had been seeing him since she was young. Hands down. Treats you with such respect and professionalism. This woman makes you feel like she is your sister or aunt and really cares about helping you with whatever care you need, as soon as you ask for it, with the urgency you put on it, with whatever tools she can offer. Is very, very focused on patient comfort, asking me to let him know if there was ANY feeling on my lip beforeeee getting started on my teeth. Told me to return at no charge to me to adjust anything I needed on a tooth he worked on if there was one bit of discomfort. Can you get more considerate for a dentist? I called to get back in for some pain on my bite, CARMEN gets me right in the next morning! I'm telling ya~just amazing!!!!!! Then the dental hygienist. I think her name was Mari. Oh, I'll feel bad if I got that wrong, but what matters is she cared about me from the minute she asked me to take a seat on the chair. I absolutely LOVE this establishment! I have been getting excellent treatment here for several years. Dr. Mariano is fabulous! Great skills, proactive, CAUTIOUS, and a wonderful sense of humor...which in my case, means a heck of a lot!! I went in for a routine appointment today.... xrays, cleaning and diagnostic. Again, a wonderful appointment for a dentist appointment. ;) Carmen? Truly THE BEST office manager. Detail oriented, efficient, organized, congenial, and all around, the most wonderful person that I have ever dealt with in these circumstances. And I have been in the service industry for 40 years. I was a little confused when I read two previous reviews on my nearly lifetime dentist and staff. I've been coming to Dr Mariano and his highly trained and knowledgeable staff since 1996 I believe. I know Dr Mariano always gets a lot of praise for his professional work and excellent mannerisms. He deserves it. In addition, he only retains the Staff, and I mean ALL the staff, who works with just as high a professional ethic. If you hate going to the dentist, you might try Dr Mariano. The staff gladly communicates to you about your treatment options, knows insurance like a legal guide, and doesn't try to talk you into services you don't need. Carmen has been there since I started using their dentistry center. 4 kids later, very few cavities. My whole family has been going there, mother and father. Shockingly rude receptionist. I called this morning to schedule my son for a visit, and she became very curt with me as soon as I said "MediCal". Yes, sorry for being poor - I am hoping that my 18 years of service to my country was enough to allow my son a year or two of basic healthcare while I get back on my feet. She asked me if he had been seen by another dentist before and what had happened at that visit, etc. However, as I started to answer her, she continually interrupted me. When I said, "Oh, I thought you wanted to know what had happened?", she just interrupted me all over again, finally saying to me "Well, I think we can end this conversation right here." Yes, I guess we can. I'd rather my entire family lose all over their teeth than have to deal with her ever again. Glad I learned this over the phone and not in person. We have had such difficulty with the lack of communication by the office staff. My husband made an urgent appointment because his crown fell out and he needed it to be replaced. When he showed up to the appointment he was asked what he was doing there when they cancelled his appointment. However he never received a call the day before to be informed of his cancellation. The office staff claims they called my husband and were very rude to him about the situation. They offered to reschedule him for the next day and then again he shows up and his appointment was cancelled. He was told again they called him to inform him but he never received a call from the office. At this point we are upset and very frustrated with the lack of communcation. My husband was in pain and had to take time off work for these appointments which ended up being "cancelled". If i could post this with no stars i would. I recommend choosing another office. read more
