When they came out they pretty much immediately discovered that someone had shut off my gas. They were at my house for a little under a half hour and charged me $250 to turn the gas lever on. When I asked for an explanation of cost they told me they actually lost money on the call because it took the technician 45 minutes to drive to my house due to snow. They also said they lost money on the call because it costs at least $300 to have someone drive to a house and walk in to provide a service regardless of how long they are there or what the issue is. Obviously I had no way of knowing that it was going to snow when I made the appointment/my furnace stopped working or that the technician didn't live near me. I'm still not sure why that would be factored in to the price. I would have preferred to move the appointment if I had known I'd be charged more due to snowy travel times. I would have also like to know that it was going to cost hundreds of dollars regardless of the problem. I was very surprised because I had such a great experience with them before as far as pricing and explanation and felt taken advantage of this time. I value the work of electricians and technicians but $250 to turn on a gas lever in under a half hour seems very steep to me.

We had a challenging experience working with Tru Craft. During the initial walkthrough to look at…read morethe various projects, it seemed that Tru Craft would be able to handle the various jobs we had (installing recessed lighting, replacing bathroom fans, replacing ceiling fans). After work was started, we started hearing excuses/justifications as to why certain parts of the job could not be completed properly (or completed at all). Mostly they blamed us for selecting equipment (new Panasonic bathroom fans and Minka Aire ceiling fans) they they did not prefer. Similarly, they objected (after the job was started, of course) to installing Lutron dimmer switches on the recessed lighting because they did not like the style of switch we wanted (again, a major name brand that we would have expected electricians to be comfortable with). All told, they left the bathroom fans only partly installed (we had to hire another contractor to redo the work correctly) and the ceiling fans click and wobble. We were told many times that things would have gone better if this had been "new construction," which was strange considering it was clear from the beginning that the work was to be done on an existing home. They did do a good job installing the recessed lighting, which was the only part of the job that went smoothly (except for installation of the switches, which had to be completed by someone else given Tru Craft's objections around using the Lutron switches we wanted). Tru Craft may be good choice for smaller/simpler jobs, or jobs where specific equipment is not required, but we ended up needing to use another company to complete our scope of work. (For what it's worth, the other company repaired/completed Tru-Craft's work quickly and without complaint regarding the equipment).

When they arrived today to perform the work, they informed me they could not complete one of the previously agreed upon duties and that I would need to hire someone else for that portion of the project. This set my whole project into a tailspin as that portion was a very intregral part of the work to be completed. As I scrambled to find someone else to perform that job duty and keep the project on track, they then informed me they could not honor any portion of the original quote and would instead be switching to an hourly rate. A rate that again they could not confirm would not exceed the original agreed upon amount. It was a complete bait and switch that left me completely in the dark. This is a very dishonest company.

I know Singletrack is known for electrical but they are equally competent in the other areas they service. Travis and Peter were great: Showed up on time and pleasant to work with and completed the work perfectly. Noelle, the scheduler, is the most courteous scheduler I've spoken with in a long time. She really has the gift of customer service. There have been other companies I've called where I was left feeling like I'm interrupting their Facebook time. Not the case here. Call her and you will know what I mean. I may call her just to chat about random stuff! My next jobs with Singletrack are more smart switches and a home backup generator, scheduled for next week. It's tough to find impressive workers in the trades but this is my team moving forward. They have taken the stress out of these projects because I don't have to wonder if they will show up, show up on time, make a mess of my house, do a poor job, or make me feel like I have to babysit. Also, they have a big enough team that I'm not waiting weeks to get on the schedule. The longest I've waited to have someone out was 3 days. Then they just get the work done right. When they had to rip out drywall they were as minimalist as possible. We were both able to work around our schedules and get the job completed a bit early. The pricing was competitive and fair. I hired them for a new basement digout, meaning they upgraded my house panel, and did all the electrical work for the new space: 3 bedrooms, a bath, workout room, and utility room. Table Mountain ended up being the best value option for my specific project. They weren't the cheapest (although they were close), but they def were not the most expensive either. And they held 100% to their initial bid, even though there were some unforeseen things that came up - which is what I was most worried about: getting a low estimate, then raising the price along the way. This never happened. Everyone that showed up was polite and respectful, and they all seemed to know what they were doing. And I am 100% happy with the quality of the work. In fact, when the city of Denver inspector showed up and asked who did the work and I told him, he said Table Mountain's work is always good (and he quickly buzzed through the rest of the inspection - which is a huge relief since inspectors can get very nit-picky if they don't think something was done exactly how they like it). Be prepared to pay exactly according to the schedule, which is reasonable in this industry. They show up on time, and expect payment on time. On this, Robert was firm, and I can't say I blame him. Things like new fuse box, updating outlets and replacing old wiring. The guy told me to send them an email with what I wanted done and they would get back to me. I asked surely someone would come on site to my house to provide a quote after inspecting what needed to be done. I was told no, they don't do that. They went on to say in a bored tone we've been in business for 30 years, just send the email. Within an hour I had five other far more reputable companies scheduled to inspect and provide an estimate for the work. Honestly, when there are better options and you don't even want To look at the job that needs to be done to provide an estimate, I don't have time for you and IMO neither should anyone else. 56 years old and still finding new ways to be dumb.
