If I could give no stars I would. WORST company ever. Their internet service is mediocre at best, mine runs slow every once in a while. Their website is NOT user friendly, I couldn't figure out what credit card info I entered for auto pay because the 'My Account' section of the website gives absolutely no information. Never mind the fact that auto pay takes 45 days!!!! 45!!! After not being able to figure it out I finally had to re-enroll, only to end up one month past due. After paying my past due amount, they took the money TWICE. They called me non stop to get me to purchase other packages from them until I finally blocked all of their numbers. One day they called me 5 times all before 5pm! Fuckers. Too bad they have a monopoly over Worcester and it's the only service available. read more

Charter internet is so slow. Whenever i called and complained they told me that just restart my modem and router then the internet will work well. I did it so many times but ended up not even access to google. read more

had a planned appointment window from 1pm-2pm ny 230 when no one showed or called we called the 800 number and spoke with a rep. the rep "looked into it" and stated the tech was held up at another job and would arrive in roughly 30 minutes. 330 rolls around still nothing we call back and are told the tech is en route. 415 pm we get an email now stating the tech would arrive at 4pm-5pm. 5pm we call again and are again told the tech is en route but no ETA can be given. 615pm 2 techs show up and I will at least say they were both very professional and did a good job. however throwing away 6 hours of a day was not fun read more

I wouldn't wish this internet or cable on my worse enemy.I have this service provider because I live in a building that doesn't give me any other option. I think Charter knows this and has given me the worse service I have ever had and feel like it is ok to jack up prices knowing this. I HATE CHARTER. Charter cable internet. Many things go around their promised speed of 30 mb/s. some things go even higher and streaming video works great. I don't know what my dad deals with getting it to work, but as far as I know, it works great! If you have problems, get your own modem, Charter only has responsibility to get you the cheapest modem they can find which doesn't always give good results, same for routers. read more

I hate writing reviews, but I just had to chime in on Charter. They are, by far, the worst cable company out there. I can't believe the FCC is letting them buy Time Warner. Just another instance of government failing the people. I've had Charter for 3 years now. They initially came to install service to my apartment when I signed up for the standard phone/internet/TV package. When they left, they didn't even tell me the phone number! Not a big deal though, I really didn't want it anyway. A year later, the "package" they offered went away and the bill jumped $30. I dropped the phone option...the one I wasn't using. Next year, the price jumped $18. I dropped the expanded stations....so long Red Sox and Bruins. I now have just plain basic cable....at a price of $37 a month. More on that later though. The problems started soon after installation. I found, if I move too quickly through the stations, the audio toggles on and off at about a 1 second rate, accompanied by a flicker on the screen over what you are watching. Needless to say, it's unwatchable. Calling Charter (after being on Hold for 10 minutes), they try lots of things, but nothing works. Another 15 minutes out of my life that I'll never get back. Finally, they resort to the tried and true.... " Unplug it, then plug it in again". Once that happens, the box has zero memory of what it is...ziltch...none....it's a brick. It shows a "Aptiv" reboot screen (circa 2008) complete in 64 bit graphics and runs through a complete system download. Takes about 10-12 minutes, then the channels start to fill in again. Sometimes they do...sometimes they don't. Right now, all I get is QVC...the stations adjaceint to it ABC,CBS and NBC are missing. Meanwhile, the show that I was going to watch is now over. It's so bad that I've weaned myself from watching network TV at all. I only watch 2 shows and I miss lots of episodes due to Charters crappy network. Now to the pricing issues. For basic cable they charge $15 bucks. Receiver $7. HD, another $5. By the time taxes, and fees are added it's $35. OK some things you should know. First, the standard in the US is HD. Why should I have to play extra to get it on my TV? Second....and this one really gets me going, is that you really don't need a cable box at all to get basic TV. TV's are fully capable to receive the cable stations. What the cable companies do is shift the channels out of the spectrum that the TV can receive by itself. Why? So they can charge you for a receiver and tack on a HD charge with it. They make $22 bucks a month per household....more if you have more boxes. To be fair, you do indeed need receiver box to get pay stations like HBO, Showtime ect. however. Internet speeds are terrible here in Whitinsville . Best I can get is 30Mbps, pretty low by today's standards. Over the years, I've had Comcast, Time Warner and Verizon. I can honestly say that Charter is easily the worst of them all. Now, none are particularly wonderful, or in my opinion, particular consumer friendly. In terms of helpfulness and quality of service, I've found Comcast to be the best. Verizon is somewhat better than Charter, but I think they are very deceptive in what they offer (Fios is not all it's cracked up to be. Sure you can get fast speeds, but you have to pay a lot to get it. Way more than the speeds you get from Comcast. The commercials never offer the price for the higher speeds. It's a case of caveat emptor to be sure. That's by 2 cents concerning Charter. I think I'll be returning my box and ending this horrible service and just viewing everything online. read more

Unless you have to go with Charter, please avoid them at ALL COSTS!! Yes, they are pretty inexpensive for what they say will be decent Internet and streaming speeds (60mbps). What they don't tell you is that they slow down your speeds randomly throughout the day and during peak times. I used to have Comcast and never had an issue if I was streaming on the PS4, my husband was streaming on the tablet, and my husband was playing his game on the computer. Now, if I'm not using Chromecast, we can't both be watching something while he plays his game. And, if I am using Chromecast, one of our shows has to load multiple times throughout the show. We actually had to buy a new router so we could prioritize our devices to get the best of the crap internet we have. When we didn't have the new router, only one of us could stream and NOTHING else. It's too bad they have a monopoly in many cities. I know I will be checking into internet providers before we move to our next house. If Charter is the only option, then the house will not be worth it. read more

Charter has to be the absolute worst cable/internet company ever!!! Like Kevin C's review I too have been given special offers by one rep only to have something completely different reflected on my bill and when I call and told them the rep's name who told me the offer I would be getting they act like they have no record of the call. Also, service is HORRIBLE!!!! Signal is constantly freezing, I feel like I am watching a DVD that has been smashed to S$%T when I am watching my shows at night with all the skipping and freezing going on. And the internet is constantly not connecting, they come to fix it but the problems remain. Never thought things could get worse than Comcast but guess the grass is not greener on the other side of the cable world. Oh, and if you get a letter in the mail from Charter proclaiming their appreciation for you and that as a valued customer they want to reduce your bill by $50.00 BEWARE this means they have increased your bill significantly and when you call they tell you that your bill would be much higher if they weren't offering this "special savings." Unfortunately, they make you put a star. Do yourself a favor and run from this company. Not only do they lie, telling you the person is on their way for your scheduled appt, which was between 8-10 am and it's now 11, but your internet will be down more times than it is up. They then will say, you will get a 20 dollar discount this month on your bill, because your appt was rescheduled to pm. The man shows up at my door, and says, I don't understand why they didn't call me, I wasn't busy all am. I love the man that came, he was great. Customer service on phone is excellent too, cant complain about them. And about that 20 dollars, you will need to chase that as well for a few months. I paid a hefty installation charge too but I am going to look into getting a dish, can't take the stress of this anymore and I hate having to unplug my modem/router to reboot and spend time on a phone reporting the problem and listening to a voicemail that tells me I will call you back when service is back running, and guess what? You won't get that call either! I called to tell them my internet was down again then next day, and told them I never got that call either, she says Oh that is because the problem is still being worked on, your service is either out or degraded. Why should I be paying you for a service you don't provide? You should be paying me for all the aggravation and time spent on the phone, troubleshooting per instructions from you and I am not a technician, and the loss of service. I give you 5 negative stars!!!!! One time, the rep said to me, Oh I see you have had many connection interuptions. You need a tech to come out to pole to fix this. Wasnt expecting any at my door, since she did say pole. Had concussion, headache from fall and my door bell rings. Man was very nice, I told him rep said problem was on the pole and I wasn't feeling good. Who knows what he did out there, all I know, problem still exist!!! read more

Charter Communications is not only a terrible service, but their customer service is atrocious. I've written only a few Yelp reviews, and this one is one of the few because I want everyone to know how absolutely horrible they are. Not only is their service static-y and unreliable, but they call multiple times a week under different phone numbers, constantly trying to get you to upgrade. They care nothing about loyalty -- they only care about profit. They can't even update their bills on time; their website shows bills I've paid off since 3 weeks ago as being unpaid.....yet paid (as in, if I click on them, they show as being paid, but my account shows as unpaid). Everyone I know says I shoudn't have hired them, and I wish I had listened. If my apartment was able to get anything but Charter service, I would get something else. Please -- if you are looking for a cable service but can get something else, PLEASE DO! read more

My family hates Charter. Not a week goes by when one of us doesn't curse their company's name, no exaggeration. I have the cable/internet/phone package because we have no choice: its either Charter or cancel everything. I have no problems cancelling the cable and just sticking with Netflix but the rest of my family would beg to differ. The internet service is CONSTANTLY going on and off, I have to disconnect and reconnect a few times a day. This in itself isn't a huge inconvenience but it's the principle of the thing. When I call their customer service to speak to a live operator, I give it 50-50 if I will get a useless customer service rep who will "accidentally" disconnect the call while transferring me, or getting a fast-talker who will flat out LIE to me about fixing my issues. "Well, we're reporting an outage in your area" seems to be the go-to response to get their complaining customers off the phone. I'm sure that every now and then there really are outages in certain areas but they can't expect me to believe that there's nothing the rep can do and blame it on "an outage in my area." I will continue to actively campaign my family to cancel Charter's cable but I'm stuck with their monopoly when it comes to the internet. If Charter were a tangible, individual person I'd punch them in the face. read more
