Their technician misdiagnosed my problem due to a very unthorough inspection and resorted to a quick outside (and expensive) temporary correction which lasted about 2 1/2 days without ever evaluating the whole system. This was confirmed by three other HVAC companies I had out to evaluate the problem. Slipshod work at best. read more

This company had installed the AC for the previous owners. They provided less than 1/3 of the return ducting needed for a 5ton unit. Our AC is gasping for air. Worst service! Do not use this company. My AC didn't work properly so One Guard home warranty company contracted out the work to this company. A guy came and said the only reason AC not working was condenser got clogged. He was so sure ac should be working well after cleanjng it. However it didn't work at all after cleaning thoroughly so requested recall svc. The same guy came up again and said freon gas was out. Paid $100 for freon and another service call fee. However ac still didn't work. He said he would drop by to check AC but didn't show up on the scheduled day without any call or text! Seems like their only method to fix is let the customer clean ac and then filling freon gas, finally eat and run ..not showing up . Plz let the professionals fix your AC in order to avoid spending extra money on it. read more

Service degraded from the last time I used them a year ago. Poor communication. I have issue with mold around the AC vent. I called speedy for appointment and made sure that it is possible for them to notify me ahead of time prior to arrival. I was not able to wait 4 hours window due to my job. It never happens. I got a call when the technician was at the door already. Me and my boyfriend drove through traffic to the house but the technician left. He told us to change filter. I asked if he can help us change it as he is already there. (It is rental property) He refused and left for the next job. I end up pay 49$ with additional 325$ quote for vent cleaning. It is much more expensive than other company. The communication should be improved big time. We are in 2016 and how hard it is to notify ahead of time. The operation seems to be 1990 style. I wish they could have told me that they are not able to notify customer. I would have not waste time with them. I pay 49$ trip charge dollars for nothing. They need more staff to handle the front desk and schedule properly. read more

We've had two dealings with this business. And both of them were poor. Our Home Warranty company sent them a work order (broken AC). We explained that we could be there any day after 3:30. The receptionist explained that since it's October, business is slow, so they send their service techs home early. But she assured us they could have someone out the next day or two. I get a call the next morning at 9:00 and she says they have someone in our neighborhood and they can be right there. But we're both at work and won't be home until 3:30 like we discussed. She said that this won't work for them and if we can't be there right now then we're going to have to reschedule for a different day. I'm confused. Business is slow. I'm trying to give you money. But you keep sending your employees home early. Poor business plan. And the receptionist was not very easy to work with. Day 3. No AC. We're finding a different company to use. read more

Do not know why there is a less than great reviews on Speedy Electric because we just had the best experience with them. They were recommended to us by an electrician who admittedly did not have the equipment or the skill set to resolve our issue. Speedy proved to be prompt, professional and affordable: our two technicians, Robert and Skyler, found the cause of a very difficult to find problem. Based on what the first electrician said, we expected the worst with visions of having to break through walls, furdowns and air ducts in our thirty plus year old home but through a very thorough inspection the problem was resolved with everything left intact. I received a quote of $95.00 to install a ceiling fan. With this information I scheduled an appointment. Before the electrician installed the fan he asked me if I had been informed about the price. I told him that I was quoted $95.00. The electrician said it would be a $69.00 service charge plus $95.00 installation fee. The $69.00 service charge was not mentioned when the owner quoted me the price nor was it mentioned during my phone call to schedule the appointment. The service fee should have been mentioned at the time that the appointment was scheduled not after I had spent an entire day sitting around the house and the fan was about to be installed. In addition when I explained to the lady in the office she said I could pay the service and installation fee or send them down the road. The electricians were respectful and nice but since the lady was so rude down the road they went. A waste of my time and a wasted trip for the company could have been avoided if the service charge was explained at the time the appointment was scheduled. Please make sure you understand how much the service charge will cost before you schedule an appointment with this company. And to add to this review, I see on their Facebook page that they have charges other customers 99.00 for similar work. read more

Our home warrantee uses Speedy for all electrical and cooling and heating. We have never had a bad experience in the 5+ times we have used them. They are always extremely helpful, and answer all of my questions (and I'm that guy that hovers and asks what they are doing and why so I can learn). I can't speak to their prices since we always go through our home warrantee, but I can say they work fast, and they do great work. Spend 2000.00 to replace a part on my ac or purchase a new unit over 6000.00 I could not afford either so I prepared to spend the summer with only a portable ac in my bedroom. Because of my poor Yelp review, I received a call this morning from Jenny, the admin who said that her managers were upset about my poor review. Well, if you did your jobs right, then there wouldn't be a poor review! Then she gave me an argument!!! She then asked "Well, what do you want me to do about it?" I said get a technician out today! I am a VIP customer!! She even made me cry!! Arguing with customers & making them cry is not cool! 2 hours later, she called back & said her manager's "solution" was to refund my VIP money & call it quits. Wow, what a slipshod company!!! So, it seems to me that their techs are a skeleton crew; or maybe just way overworked; & from the looks of things, maybe the company is just wanting to get out of this business. If so, they are doing a great job of putting themselves out of business. It's too bad because there are a some techs on their staff who are amazing. Mark is one of the best in the business. Before last fall, I was & my parents were extremely happy customers. This used to be one of the best a/c companies out there. Certainly their troubles aren't with their techs as much as it is with them forgetting that their paychecks come from good customers like me & my family. Good customer service is everything. My family & I have literally spent thousands of $$$$ with them & that clearly means nothing to them. Even last summer, we paid $3,000 for a new coil. But I guess that means nothing as well. Below are what my experiences have been since last October: 2 technicians in 1 day & my house is still at 80 degrees. It is totally unacceptable for a repair person to leave your home & not ensure that everything is fixed & working right. The technician did not have his thermometer on him to check the temperature of the air coming out of the vents, but it doesn't take a certified technician to say, "this is still lukewarm air, that means the a/c is not fixed." I am sitting in my house crying & upset because they can't seem to get someone to actually fix my a/c!!! Last year, they sent an amazing tech out who not only walked me through everything, but he checked every single thing & did not leave my house until the air was ice cold & everything was working properly. The 2 they sent yesterday didn't even take the cover off the coil to physically check it. They just relied on readings to say "it ain't frozen up". Really? How about double check on that, especially when it's still not fixed? Oh, and the "on call line" is a joke. If you call after hours, you might, if you are lucky, get a call back that evening, but don't count on it. Most likely it will be the next day. I really don't blame the admins on this. This is a management problem (or owner). Yesterday, I called during business hours, but was put in my place because she had so many calls. I then called back because the a/c had gotten worse & wanted to know if they had scheduled a technician. I was put on such a long hold, I hung up & called back only to find they had turned off their phones. Finally about an hour later, someone called back (she was nice) & made sure I was on the schedule. Speedy came out for a spring check up, and talked us into needing four pounds of freon. Well, three other companies agreed it was ridiculous to put that much refrigerant without looking for and finding a leak, and two weeks later, the unit went out. We called another company, who fixed a part and had to take out the extra freon bc the unit was overcharged. What's worse, I spent weeks playing phone tag and getting told someone would call back trying to rectify them having us pay 250 bucks for freon we didn't even need. They keep telling us someone is in a meeting, not in, has to look at an invoice, etc. It's one thing to have a tech mess up, but it's bad business to be this flippant about trying to rectify an issue with a customer. Called my home warranty company regarding A/C not working properly they sent speedy electric & A/C to my home. The technician informed me they were the same company that came to repair the A/c for the seller when I purchased my home. My home inspector was concerned because the A/C wasn't cooling. Everything went downhill from there! First, I was told the a/c needed 1/2 lb of Freon, then I was told it would need a new fan, then I was told I would need a whole new a/c system because a wasp nest abused pressure on a coil causing it to leak. Thanks to the wasp nest OneGuard denied my claim. I had another company come inspect my a/c unit, and he informed me that their is no way a wasp nest caused a leak on the coil especially since it was very obvious the same section the leak was detected had been repaired before. A definite red flag to me was that the technician just said sorry for your bad luck and left didn't even bother to try and sell me a new a/c unit. Now I'm wondering if these same issues were present when speedy electric A/C serviced the a/c for the previous seller and just filled it up with Freon so the seller wouldn't have the expense of replacing an old a/c unit and leaving me stuck with the costly repair that the home warranty company won't pay for. You should be able to give 0 stars!!! This is was by far the most unprofessional experience in working with contractors. Their technician arrived at my home to repair the A/C and, without so much as looking at the unit he said I needed an electrician. When I contacted my home warranty company, that forced this "business" on me, the rep said that it was the contractor's "diagnosis. The kicker for me was when some lady called with an attitude because I gave her technician a one star review. Transcript of the conversation- Me: Hello Speedy Rep: Are you the homeowner at "address" Me: Yes Speedy Rep: Umm, Do you have tenants in your home? Me: Who are you and why are you asking this? Speedy Rep: I'm just trying to figure out why you gave my tech a 1 star review. He wasn't allowed in the home. I went off on this fool. First, being rude and asking questions that are none of your business is not the way to make a customer change their review. Secondly, their rep is a liar, I had already had two conversations with my home warranty company that spoke with Speedy and acknowledged that their technician was inside my home and confused about what to do. However, the work order was DETAILED. A common issue, the upstairs is not cooling down, despite blowing cold air. One Guard Home Warranty does not back up their customers and sides with their lowest bidder contractor. If you have One Guard, cancel your contract before you get screwed. Stay away from Speedy Elect & Air, their technicians are dishonest. I recently had a problem with Speedy Electric & Air, (972) 366-5700 and One Guard Home Warranty, (888) 896-0014. I believe Josh of Speedy Electric left my heater system semi-operable after I asked him for a quote on a new system during a service call in Nov 2018. He worked on the system 13-15 Nov 2018 re-wiring 3 heating elements. I personally saw him working on one of the heater coils, I assumed he did all 3. The months of November and December 2018 were relatively mild, and I believe my system worked at 2/3 capacity without much problem. On Jan 3, 2019, it was a bit colder, and I submitted a trouble call to One Guard. Speedy was assigned to come and look at the system. On the 5th of January, the system seemed to be working okay, the weather was warmer also. When Speedy called to arrange an appointment, I told them the system seemed to be working, and cancelled the service call. On a cold night on 13 January, I decided the system wasn't working to capacity. My normal electric bill is about $150 a month, January's bill was $350. The air handler part of the system seemed to be on all the time. Josh of Speedy came out on the 15th of January, and told me that a "limiter switch" was burned out and that one of the 3 heating coils was not wired, in fact, taped off. Talks with One Guard revealed that the office of Speedy told them that the limiter switch was MISSING, and a coil was unwired. Re the Jan 3 service call, the office of Speedy told One Guard that I FIXED THE SYSTEM MYSELF (from One Guard notes). I can state categorically that the door to the air handler was not even opened, much less another service company or myself unwired and taped off a heater coil and caused the limiter switch to burn out (since Josh worked on the system 15 Nov 2018). It was obviously left in this condition on Nov 15, 2018, on purpose on the indication of buying a new system or forgetfulness. Josh left an estimate for a new system costing $2,512.00. I trusted Josh and shook his hand. I've been with One Guard since 2008, they've paid partially for a new ceiling fan, some plumbing problems and replaced my refrigerator twice (the second time after 4 service calls, they always take the cheap repair instead of replacing an obviously bad appliance, but that's in the contract) for $732 a year. My heating system has been worked on at least 8 times since 2008 at $69 per service call. Stay away from Speedy Air and Heating and I urge you to cancel your contract with One Guard, they take the technicians word over the customer making the customer out to be a liar to save money. Both Josh (Speedy) and Nicole (One Guard) were argumentative on the phone. When they called to straighten out the problems, they already had their minds made up and listened to no counter information. Stay away from them. read more

I had Speedy Electric come out a couple of years ago to put in a electric panel which cost $4,000. This cost also included replacing all the junction boxes in the attic. Fast forward to today, my dishwasher quit working and it turns out to be a junction box that they missed when they did the big job a couple of years ago. It seems reasonable to me for them to fix this for free since I already paid for them to re-wire all the junction boxes. I'm not upset that they missed one of the boxes but only that they are being difficult in backing up their work. They wanted $169 to fix it but agreed to do it for $85 after I went back and forth with them. Just be aware that they don't necessarily back up their work and are not customer friendly. If you refund the $85 and stand by your work, you will have a happy customer. read more

My home warranty sent this company out for an A/C repair and turned out that it was just low on freon. During the service visit the oversized tech broke my attic ladder with the OWNER watching and simply said he would lose weight by the end of summer and had no concern for the damage the tech had had just caused. My home is only 10 years old and they are blaming an old ladder. I would advise against using this company. They will find an excuse not to make repairs to damage they cause! read more

They try to SCAM you---BE WARE......I have One Guard Home Warranty and they sent my work order to Speedy Electric. They came to my house to look at my A/C unit which is original to the home and nearly 25 years old. They told One Guard that something must have happened to the unit for the fan blade to be damaged causing One Guard to deny my claim. As though I would purposely damage the AC unit for my master bedroom in the middle of the summer in Texas. When I called Speedy, the office manger was so rude and essentially said that I needed to have them give me an estimate for a brand new A/C unit and the cost would not be covered by my home warrantee. I called One Guard and after fighting for a while they sent out a new company for a second opinion. Of course the new company upon one look at the unit said there is no way that the damage could be caused by anything but normal wear and tear due to the age of the unit as there is no damage to the outside that would suggest anything or anyone got inside of the unit. He also shared that he has gone behind Speedy multiple times as they try to scam Home Warranty customers and give false diagnosis to make customers pay full price for repairs that would otherwise be covered! My air conditioner went out. Speedy Electric came to see what the problem was.When I saw the break down they gave me I had a fit. They wanted me to pay out of pocket almost $1000.00 after what the home warranty was paying them.. They seemed to try and charge me with anything that would stick. When my husband hollared at them they revised their bill by almost $500.00. Makes you wonder huh? Would not use them again nor refer them! Do not use One Guard Home Warranty company. At one point they said there was nothing they could do...they wouldn't even give me a chance for them to call another air condition place to get a second opinion. I had a tree fall across a power line. I was literally up the creek without a paddle. Apparently the electrical codes had changed since my house was built and the connection had to be 13 feet off the ground. I was 5 feet too short and Hill County Electric would not reconnect until the problem. Bottom line: 75.00 worth of parts and 2 hours labor. Speedy electric charged me 1000.00 to do the job! Thieves!! However, I have yet to receive an invoice for payment and in my line of work, that is extremely important. I guess once they receive payment their job is done. Do not use this company. We were forced to use thru our home warranty company. One unit was not cooling during the afternoon and evening. The technicians came out said that it only needed freon. Charged me for 2 lbs and left. That evening the temp went to 84 degrees while it was set at 75. Called back and now they wont return until another day. From past experience they will say that it needs a part but they have to order it. So it will be several more days. What kind of AC company doesn't have parts on hand? read more

Our A/C went out in the heat of August and they came out on three (3) separate occasions within one weeks span (always a day or two apart) and would "fix" it then an hour later the AC would blow hot air. We insistently told them that it would not remain cold and kept getting responses like "all of our gauges are on the money" or "Really in the heat of summer your AC is only designed to get about 20 degrees colder than the outside air"... Are you kidding me?!... And just like clockwork the AC is once again blowing hot air an hour after they left... If you don't know what you're doing send someone else out that doss. It's that simple. A week without AC in the heat of Texas summer is ridiculous. We have since requested that our next AC technicians sent from our home insurance agency NOT be Speedy Electric. read more

I'm terribly disappointed in this company. I signed up for a spring maintenance on my a/c unit. I had to wait on them even after leaving work early to meet them when they told me they were on the way. I was told my inside unit was fine but my capacitor was going bad on me. I was quoted $225 to replace it. I declined. I got a second opinion on the unit and was told nothing was wrong. But if it was, he was going to charge me $100 to replace it. He didn't charge me anything. I feel this company was just trying to get my hard earned money when nothing was wrong. I would not recommend them to anyone!!! read more
