It was Sunday and in true checkout form, every breakfast spot was packed with people grabbing one last meal before heading out. I had planned on going to El Jefe, but couldn't find a spot when I pulled into the Shark Tank Lounge parking lot next door and noticed one side that said Breakfast & Bakery. There was only one car in the parking lot. I decided to check it out because I didn't feel like dealing with a wait elsewhere. Inside there were cases of delicious breads and baked goods. Cute, clean atmosphere with plenty of open tables. There was only one table with a couple eating breakfast. The woman behind the counter was so kind and the only person working the front. I ordered two breakfast tacos: one with chorizo and egg, the other with bacon and egg. Then I saw a pre-filled bag of 5 or 6 baked goods for just $4, so I had to grab one of those, too! Yall when she brought out my breakfast "tacos," I regretted ordering two. They were MASSIVE! I could hardly finish one of them haha The tortillas were clearly just made because they melted in your mouth and the salsa was homemade deliciousness. I ate the concha on my drive back to Houston and couldn't get over how I still had more baked goods to eat for such a great price. It was that good! I tried so hard to find a way to leave a review for this place, but they have the smallest digital footprint. I found one Facebook post from Don Nato Bakery that announced this location and that's it. Feedback for the business: Create a Yelp page for the breakfast spot (separate from the lounge), make a Facebook page, get your business listed on Google, and start making this more known. It was delicious, but I imagine people don't know about it because it's a ghost. I searched breakfast places on Google, Yelp, and Apple Maps; this place isn't listed at all. 10/10 would come back to my next visit to South Padre and Port Isabel! Wish I had better photos

A short 3 mile drive and GPS took us directly to the parking lot for "Clayton's" (NOT bar Louie). We pulled in, asked about Bar Louie, and were directed to the Courtyard by Marriott (bar Louie inside...a fact that is barely mentioned in all SM). Asked if we could park, "sure for $20!" We exited the lot, made a U Turn in Friday night SPI traffic and went next door to Courtyard. Parking lot full, no parking attendants anywhere, no ability to valet, AND no signage about BL. So we returned to Clayton's, paid $20, and walked up the ramp for Clayton's. No signs for Bar Louie anywhere that we could see. As we approached the beach, we saw "Mariluna's" which appeared to be a bar and restaurant at the rear of The Courtyard. Asked a security officer at Clayton's about Bar Louie, and he said "it's right there", pointing directly at Mariluna's. I confirmed his statement by saying "that's bar Louie?" (pointing at Mariluna's) He confirmed! I thought "Did BL take over Mariluna's without changing the signage". Starving and thirsty, we continued walking. Observing employees with "Mariluna's shirts inside the Mariluna's building, told me we were NOT at bar Louie. Still ...no signage anywhere pointing the way to our destination. We decided to walk toward the hotel. This is where we saw a small sign (first picture in post) showing the way to BL. Finally got seated, server took drink and food order. Food arrived and we received a grilled chicken sandwich instead of the grilled cheese sandwich we actually ordered. Easy mistake, Server corrected. Food was acceptable with the exception of the seafood gumbo, which, as a featured dish definitely calls for revisiting the current recipe). Restaurant was virtually empty. Our discussion returned to the difficulty we'd just experienced trying to find, park, and navigate our way from Clayton's to BL. The sparseness of customers became obvious to us. NO ONE CAN FIND THE FRIGGIN PLACE!! Finally, we speculated that either Marriott doesn't need BL to be profitable / successful, or the employees don't need the tips and are averse to making money. Based on our experience...Courtyard and BL are doing a great job keeping the location of bar Louie / SPI a secret from travelers to SPI.

We made a reservation for two and specifically requested the best available table for the sunset. When we arrived, our table wasn't ready, and we were asked to choose between two less desirable tables inside. Our reservation was at 7:45 p.m. It took over 15 minutes just to receive our first drinks and another 15 minutes before our order was taken. We ordered both appetizers and entrées together because service was already moving so slowly. While we waited, we watched a party of five, a party of three, and another party of two seated around us. All three tables received their food before we did, despite arriving after us. We waited approximately an hour for our food. The presentation was also disappointing. I ordered the espresso martini, but unlike the drinks featured on their Facebook page and in customer photos, mine wasn't garnished with the toasted marshmallow that appears to be part of their signature presentation. The mussels and the seafood enchiladas suizas also looked nothing like the beautifully plated dishes shown in their advertising. Several of the mussel shells were empty, making the appetizer feel incomplete. When our food finally arrived, it felt rushed. The fish tacos and seafood enchiladas suizas were underwhelming and did not justify the long wait. Our server was polite and apologized several times, explaining that the delays were coming from the kitchen. Unfortunately, the manager handled the situation very differently. Instead of acknowledging our concerns, he argued with us and made excuses for the delays. When we asked for a refund because of the overall experience, our plates were immediately cleared from the table, and the manager never returned to speak with us again. We chose Captain's Oyster Cove because of its reputation and wanted to enjoy a special sunset dinner, but the combination of poor service, inconsistent food presentation, long kitchen delays, and dismissive management made this one of the most disappointing dining experiences we've had on South Padre Island. We won't be returning.
