Came here for the first time for dinner on a weeknight with a friend. I ordered the kabob bowl with paneer and veggies as sides, which also came with half a piece of naan bread. Total came out to approximately $15. What's hot - Menu. Pretty simple and straightforward. It's not an extensive menu, but there appears to be something for everyone- meats vegetarian, and I think vegan. As I explain below, their menu is more westernized, but it's not a bad thing. This may not be as ethnic as real Indian food, but they don't hide the fact that they're westernized. - Quality. Pretty delish. Again, it's not the most ethnic Indian food, but it's pretty good. My paneer was pan fried and somewhat seasoned, so it was pretty tasty. My friend really likes their naan pizza and it looked pretty tasty, too. - Price. Not bad. It's less than $20 for one person, which isn't bad. However, if you're hungry and/or with a group of people, be prepared to pay more to share. - Portions. Pretty decent size portions for one. - Health and safety. All the staff I saw wore face masks. During this time of the pandemic, when things are still uncertain, it's reassuring seeing businesses, that interact with the people, take precautions. What's not - Portions. Surprisingly, I wasn't full after finishing my food. My point is to be prepared that these aren't generous portions, which is important to be aware of when you're hungry, especially if you're in a group and/or sharing food. - Quality. It's not true ethnic Indian food. After all, there's naan pizza, which appears to be popular and looks delicious. To be fair, it's not bad, but if you're looking for really good ethnic Indian food, this place isn't for you. For example, my food didn't taste well-seasoned and flavorful as ethnic Indian food should be. - Price. For almost $16, it's not the greatest exchange for value. Final answer Willing to come back. I don't know what to have expected because I'm gonna be honest I haven't had Indian food ever in the 30 years of living. But with that being said the way Indian food is always described, it seems that it should have a certain essence of spice and flavor which I felt was lacking both. I feel that the dish was a good portion size and that everything was just OK. The garlic naan lacked the flavor of garlic except for the few rubs on the bread unevenly. It was chewy and warm upon arrival but just wasn't what I expected. I'm not an Indian food connoisseur but I feel that this place is only as good as chipotle being good to the Hispanic cultures. When I try dishes from other countries I wanna taste the essence of just that as if I'm there. But not to be dramatic it's a chain Indian restaurant and would I eat here again, yea sure but gonna try to find an authentic Indian spot first read more

Spice 6 gets the job done for when I want quick serve Indian food. Imagine Chipotle but instead with Indian dishes and flavors. My go to bowl is white rice, chicken tikka or tandoori, Chana Masala (Indian spiced chickpeas), red and green curry, topped with tamarind, spicy green, cilantro, and raita. The taste is good but not as aggressively spiced as my favorite Indian spots around the area. I must admit that Spice 6's Chana Masala is among the top 5 I have had. Many days I would just get an extra order of them on the side to enjoy the next day. They are good enough to eat solo as a meal. Spice 6 also does fresh naan which is outstanding. The garlic naan is, again, fine Indian restaurant quality. The tandoor style oven is in the counter and the naan bakes stuck to the side in the traditional method. Do not forget a mango lassi to cut through the spice and savory food. Quick service, affable staff, reasonable prices, fantastic Chana Masala and fresh naan makes this place a frequent stop for lunch and dinner for me. All in all, Spice 6 is one of my favorite places in Hyattsville. Four stars and a highly recommended designation. read more

I ordered the samosas and chicken tikka masala. The samosas were quite tiny compared to those from other restaurants, and the tikka masala lacked flavor. There is no place capitalism won't reach. Behold! Indian food a-la Chipotle, what the marketers call "fast casual". Set inside a cookie cutter development just off route 1 in PG County, you'll certainly need a car but parking is ample. You'll hear hindi/bengali on the speakers and Spanish in the kitchen, but the recipe is familiar: rice or wrap base, a protein, and sauces upon glorious (sugary) sauces. Plenty to eat here for vegetarians/vegans. I had the tofu with chickpeas as a base and found that most satisfying. I can especially reccomend the tamarind and raita sauces but it's all a sweet. It's easy to over-do it with the spices however (as happened to my partner), so I'd advise slow and steady if you aren't up to Indian chili levels. Garlic naan bread is extra but a good size for sharing and served piping hot. I found it had a nice consistency to it even if I found the garlic a little wanting, as in, not permeating the bread. Dessert (those little donut balls that are supposed to be sticky and sweet) wasn't worth the money. Served cold, over saturated and somehow still missing that sugar dessert feel - it just crumbled in my mouth like bad oatmeal. The restaurant and bathrooms were clean, staff were all correctly wearing masks. They advertise delivery via grub hub (maybe others too?) All in all a solid quick-eats for a place whose dearth of quality Indian food is dearly missed by this author. I'd come back again, but don't come here looking for converts. read more

Spice 6 was just okay from my experience as a vegetarian and most Indian restaurants offer a wider variety of options. My rice bowl was basically a salad on top of brown rice with minimal sauce. The flavor of the sauces was good but it was not as filling as I would hope for the cost. The samosas chat were primarily filling and my food was not hot when we picked it up. Though, my husbands lamb dish was piping hot, which indicated mine was assembled first. I would have preferred more hit veggies on the bowl in sauce over brown rice. I parked in the small lot behind Spice 6 with a little wait, but my friends parked in a big log to the left of the luxury apartment building called Palette. So although I had trouble with finding a spot (waited about 30 seconds for a cop to slowly pull out of her spot), my friends parked without any trouble. Barely anyone dining inside this past Tuesday evening around 7pm. No one in line, so we were able to order right away. We were a party of 6, including an infant, and joined some tables together to form a larger table. The service was friendly. The employees were competent in answering questions and clear in offering toppings. There were no language barriers. My friend's chicken tikka masala tasted nothing like tikka masala. The base wasn't right at all, it wasn't reddish or orange and creamy but rather dark brown and liquid. My friend specifically asked for mild and because it was custom made, she thought the request would be resonant honored. It was not, and as an Indian who can take spice, that dish was not mild by any stretch of the imagination. I would rate it as medium to hot. Her dish took 16 minutes to make, cost $15, and ultimately she didn't eat it just for the sake of eating it. We didn't complain about it because she didn't want to complain about it if that's just their norm. My paneer bowl was good with a great mix of ingredients including mixed greens, rice, onions, raita, and chickpeas. I also received their extra-hot sauce on the side. It was hot and fresh with a generous amount of paneer but the bowl didn't really make my day in terms of flavor, consistency, and value. I left feeling underwhelmed and didn't finish the bowl. Word of caution on the extra-hot sauce: it's very, very very spicy and will distract from and diminish the meal if you add too much. The online ordering option through SquareUp is pretty disappointing. You can't choose what toppings you want on it or write a note for the spice level. You can choose only the base and protein and check out. I do not recommend ordering online. I visited about 6 years ago when they first opened and had a mediocre experience then, and I wouldn't come back to this location after this experience. read more
