Enjoyed my experience at Curry Place. Stopped in for lunch on a Thursday afternoon. I got there right before they closed down for lunch at 2:30pm. Restaurant was clean with plenty of tables for dine-in service. I ordered the chicken saag, which is my go-to Indian dish. The saag and basmati rice were a hit! Although the chicken wasn't dry, it also wasn't as tender as some other restaurants. * The Lamb Rogan Josh was mild in flavor but very tender. * The Tandoori Chicken was a huge serving but was again not the juiciest tandoori I've had. * The Palak Paneer was good. Large portion. Lots of cheese. Good flavor. * The Chicken Cheese Naan was delicious. First time we've ever had that. The regular nan and garlic nan were good too. Nice and fluffy. * The MoMo Chicken dumplings were delicious but fiery! It's been a while since I initially reviewed this business. Not much has changed as far as my experiences here. I come so often I think they recognize me! I pretty much get the same thing - chicken tikka masala, but here and there I switch it up and get the tandoori chicken. I only do take-out, but one of these days I plan to dine in. I've tried several other Indian spots in the area, and this is still one of my faves. The prices have gone up over the years, but that's everywhere. The portions are still generous, and the food always taste great. They're good with adjusting the level of spiciness to your liking. I do spicy but not over the top! We ordered Chicken Korma, Lamb Korma, Madras Chicken, Veggie Samosas, Naan, Raina & Rasmalai. All delicious! Naan was excellent...soft, pillowy & seasoned properly...(not burnt, or raw-ish, like at many places). Veg samosas were quite good, but we've definitely had better...they could be improved. I've been coming to this restaurant for years, and while it's long overdue, I'm finally writing a review -- because this place truly deserves it. Over time, I've tried a variety of dishes: the Butter Chicken and Curry Goat (both among the best I've ever had), the Goat Vindaloo (packed with flavor but extremely spicy -- be warned!), the Mixed Kabob Platter (excellent with a nice kick), and the Roti, which is simply outstanding. You can order online, by phone, or in person -- but expect a short wait since everything is prepared fresh. What really sets this place apart is the value. Portion sizes are generous -- most dishes come in 24 oz containers with a separate 16 oz container of basmati rice. Unlike many other Indian restaurants where rice dominates the meal, here you get hearty servings of meat and sauce, with the rice on the side. Most dishes range from $15 to $20, and you'll likely have leftovers for the next day. Conveniently located in the White Oak Shopping Center, just a few doors down from Giant Food, the restaurant also has plenty of parking. We have been going to this restaurant for years. It's so good that I always forget to take pictures! The place is always clean and set up to be seated immediately. The servers are always kind. The food is spectacular! You cannot go wrong with anything you order. Today we tried their fried chicken dumplings it comes with a peanut type sauce! Very savory! We also always get their chicken tandoori , today we tried their "boneless" version, I do usually order the normal one which I feel is much more flavorful it comes with a size of lentils and has pickled carrots, tastefully done! My husband ordered the kabob tandoori which has chicken, goat and a form of sausage he really enjoyed. We also got butter chicken which you can never go wrong with. What a pleasant surprise! My friend had a hankering for Indian food after a walk at Brookside Garden, so we took a chance on the great reviews at Curry Place. So glad we did! The samosa chat - a samosa cut up and covered in chickpeas, yogurt, tamarind and mint sauces, and chopped onions - was great. Messy, but great. The garlic naan was so tasty. I liked the chicken korma just fine, but the star of the meal for me was the tandoori chicken - served sizzling hot, super juicy, delicious delicious delicious! So I'm going to slap another star onto my review for Curry Place. My kid and I ate there last night and the food was quite nice. We opened with the honey garlic shrimp which were still a winner and then I had tandoori chicken and they had curry chicken. The tandoori was bravely cooked with a little extra char that I mostly liked (one piece was *really* charred). It was tender and very flavorful. The curry chicken tasted like they may have cooked the chicken elsewhere and then dropped it into the sauce but the meat was fairly tender and the sauce was lovely. I'd love to see this place succeed but they're just one little step away from nailing it. read more

I ordered online for contactless pickup. I ordered the butter chicken and a plain naan. I had requested in the notes for spicy but it wasn't spicy at all. In fact, it tasted sweet. It was still good, and they use white meat chicken, but I have to love a meal to retain it for leftovers later. The portion was more than enough for one meal for one adult without an appetizer. The food was absolutely amazing! Honesty, some of the best Indian food I've had. We ordered the vegetable samosa's which you could tell were fresh and not something that they took out the freezer. The dough was flaky and the flavor was so good. We actually ordered an additional order to take home (was just as good after we warmed it in the oven too). The Prawn Vindaloo was also really good, which came with rice. It had large prawns and they were not cheap with the amount of prawns provided. And the mango lassi was really good, thick, and sweet but not too sweet. Customer service was great, they were attentive and made sure to continue filling our water glasses. The bar did have draft beers but they had wine and beer bottles. And they were taking the appropriate measures for CO-VID 19. Which included tables spaced out and employees wearing masks and gloves. Also, we had a Groupon and their were no speculations using it which is always good. Overall, this definitely made our list of places to go eat whenever we're looking for a night out. Everything, I mean everything, is utterly delicious. Perfectly seasoned (careful, if you think black pepper is too spicy this is NOT the place to go), perfectly portioned, perfectly...just...perfect. The naan melts in your mouth. The biryani combines both hot and floral spices, and it's probably one of the best in this area. Keep in mind that I'm not speaking from experience (as in, I didn't grow up with this cuisine), but I loooooooove flavorful food that tastes authentic. You can tell when something's overly processed and comes from the can (or bag). This food tastes FRESH. The Lamb Rogan Josh is good with or without naan, and so is the Butter Chicken. Those little containers of sauce for the samosas are the TRUTH. I'm not a fan of sweet sauces, but theirs is amazing. If you're a fan of North Indian, Nepalese, and Indo-Chinese cuisine...please do yourself a favor and try it. They're available through Uber Eats, so no excuse! :D read more

My actual review is about a 4.5, but I'm rounding up because I think this is going to be a frequent stop for us and if you order the right stuff it's great, but really more of a 4 to 4.5 since not every dish is amazing. TL;DR - You can't go wrong with the Indochinese, the others are more variable. I'll start with the negative - our first experience was takeout, and we ordered the chicken 65 and the butter chicken. Not going to lie, I wasn't a huge fan of either. I usually love both of these dishes, but the chicken 65 was more chewy and just not as good as I was used to and the butter chicken was insanely sweet. I have a sweet tooth - and it was too sweet for me. After that visit it was a couple months til we went back, but I've had several more experiences and they all have been much better (except the Chicken 65, which I'd forgotten I'd ordered and didn't care for). Their Chili Chicken is a lot more like the Chicken 65 I'm used to and I really like that dish. Actually ALL of the Indochinese dishes I've tried have been great: Hakka noodles, both the C-Momo and the Thol-Momo (C is spicier, T is soupier) and the Chili chicken are all great, though none of them are "dry" so don't listen to the menu about that - the C-momo and Chili Chicken both have a thick sauce that is a little spicy (medium for me, probably mild for India and very spicy for a Marylander) and very savory. As far as the Indian dishes go, the saag paneer was just a little better than average (but this is a dish I make at home and some might say I'm picky). The Chicken Tikka Masala at medium spicy was actually very good with a little kick and not sweet like the butter chicken. The malai kofta was good, it is a little sweet but that's expected. Similar with the korma - IIRC it had pineapple which was unusual but not in a bad way. I'm drawing a blank on whatever else I've ordered. As with most MD restaurants, unless the dish explicitly says spicy you need to tell them if you want it spicy, it won't be that way by default. They have reasonably priced cocktails and lassi. Service is good and the wait is always short. They don't seem to get very busy in-house anyway, please give them business so they can stay in the neighborhood! read more

We came here one weekend as we saw this place on Yelp and give this place a try. We ordered their veggie samosa, chicken cheese naan, goat vindaloo, and kabob platter. Formerly a different Indian restaurant, this place is brand new with new decor, new management, and awesome food! The lunch special is just amazing! For about $10, you get the chicken special of the day, along with some pakoras, palak paneer, yellow daal, naan, and rice. It's quite a lot of food and it is all really tasty. I had enough for another meal later. The service was really friendly and kind - water was always kept full and they came by several time to ask if we needed more naan or anything else. I asked for some pickle along with raw onions and my request was promptly met. I will definitely be going back here with my colleagues! read more

Oh man, this was good food. I ordered from these guys through Uber Eats the other night, and it was really, really good. I ordered a goat curry, naan, and kheer, which is a rice-pudding like dessert. I was a little disappointed that the main dishes don't come with naan on their own, but no big deal. The goat curry was delicious, and I wolfed it down before I could take a picture of it for my review. (Admittedly, curry isn't the most photogenic food anyhow, meaty blobs in sauce, but it's delicious). It was nice to find a place that offered goat curries -- lamb and beef seem to be the norm around here. The goat was a little bony, but that's the nature of goat meat. The naan was good, though it was a little crispier than I really like, and the kheer was delicious, though perhaps a little watery. One thing did disappoint me though: the order was for a delivery service, and the paper bag was stapled once, in the middle, with sides completely open. Whenever we travel out of town, we like to find hidden gems of flavorful food and avoid the chain restaurants. Tonight we struck gold at the Curry Place. Located in a shopping center a few doors down from the Giant Supermarket it's easy to find. We ordered our food to go so we can enjoy in the comforts of our lodgings. Never mind that we've become unsocial animals in the last two years. It's probably better that I don't mingle with patrons. We liked the helpful explanations on the menu so you know what you're getting in detail. Only thing I didn't know ahead of time was that you get a side of rice with every "entree". Now we got lots of good rice. Hopefully TSA will let it through security. Sticking with a vegetable menu tonight we thoroughly enjoyed the Vegetable Jalfrezi (veggies were crisply cooked just the way we like them, not mushy). The Biryani was loaded with a lot more veggies than we expected and is good and spicy but not overly hot. A side of yogurt comes along with the meal if you need to cool the flame down a bit to suit your tastes. An interesting dish is the Malai Kofta curry and we loved it.
