I don't know if it's the same owners or not but it not the same quality. Also the guy is front is terrible at customers service and also he is not very sanitary I seen him touch food and money with the same old dirty gloves. I wish that sweet lady was still running the front. Worst lunch around because never consistent and the guy who thinks is running the front is awful

Spice & Fire Grill on Golf Road in a small strip mall in Morton Grove, IL. Nice family Mediterranean/Iraqi restaurant w/a nice brightly lit interior a cool authentic decor inside. The server was awesome and we give him 5 plus stars, unfortunately we didn't feel the same about the food. I ordered a combination sandwich w/chicken? Why I have no idea? The chicken was fried and super thin served on a bread that I didn't eat w/tomatoes, lettuce & Mayo. Mehhh why I ordered this I don't know 1 star absolutely no flavor. This came w/fries were very.good. I also had a cup of excellent lentil soup - 5 stars My sister ordered a combination plate that came w/a beef Kifta which was very good 5 stars. The shawarma was dry & lacked flavor & the rice was mediocre. Overall the ambiance was a very clean nice family friendly restaurant. The decor was very nice w/ some beautiful Persian light fixtures and some nice wall decorations - 4 stars The server was the highlight super friendly w/great service - 5 stars. The food other than the lentil soup & Kifta (5 stars) was very mediocre

This place is a small Iraqi run strip mall restaurant.  It's hard to differentiate amongst the various Middle East ethnic groups, but it's nice to know anyway.  I tried a carryout of their lunch special, which on Tue-Thu from noon-3pm, means their $16.49 lunch goes for $9.49.  I have to go with a "Meh" 2.5 stars that rounds up to 3 stars given the discount.   I had it mixed meat, meaning a mix of chicken and meat.  The container had a lot of white rice covered by a thin layer of meats (container was about 60% full of rice).  The rice was ok, and went well though with the meats which were salty.  There's no pita bread and no sauces, and I'm not sure sauces like Tzatziki are an Iraqi tradition anyway.  The modest lunch was barely ok for $9.49, and definitely not for $16.49.  One and done for me, but best of luck in any event.

What I thought was the Escalope (chicken sandwich) on their site

Had a carry out order here with the family. My wife had stopped by to go pick it up and told me that it was quite busy inside. The staff seemed to be friendly but food did take a little bit for it to be ready. My wife had the shish tawook platter, I had the escalope (their fried chicken sandwich) and the iraqi chicken shawarma sandwich. I'll start off with the escalope. I honestly was not impressed and from the pictures I saw online, I think I got a completely different sandwich. I'll attach pictures for reference but the bun looks different that I got and I had no fries on the sandwich. The rest of the food, my wife and I agreed it was just ok. Was expecting some more flavor. Very interesting that their garlic sauce is in a prepackaged packet but tahini seemes to be in house. Overall ok food in my opinion but the marketing with the boxes are great!

Stopped in for a quick lunch! Not bad, I LOVED the hummus - so delicious. The chicken shawarma was dry and not as tasty. I liked the sandwich with the samoon bread, but it tastes so much better when it's warm. The chicken burger sandwich was much more tasty than the shawarma. Would go back for the hummus!

Spice and fire was legit fire. It's just truly amazing. This place is tiny but mighty, I gotta tell you. It is so easy to miss as it is located in a mini strip mall, but don't let the location fool you. The food makes up for everything that the store front lacks. The decor is cute and clean. It has some influences from the arabic culture but also some nice seating. The place was so clean that I was impressed. We came in and, as you can tell, had a decent amount of food. First off, the portions are generous, so be aware when you order as you will need to go boxes. Second, the ingredients were just the freshest. I may have had the most incredible falafel ever. If you have read my reviews, you know I am a falafel snob. I refuse to eat a soggy falafel, and I will be vocal about it. Well, to put in perspective, I ordered 6, and I wish I could have ordered 12. They were surreal. The eggplant dish was full of flavor, too. I anticipated being warm, but it tasted so good that it didn't make a difference to me. Move over, Pita Inn, there is a new sheriff in town. This place puts all mediterranean joints to shame. Come and visit! Guarantee you will not be disappointed. You honestly might see me there.

My friend and I stopped by for lunch, and the food was delicious! I got the falafel sandwich with fries, and my friend got Spice and Fire Kabob Platter, and she loved it. They give you complimentary lentil soup, which we didn't like - it was bitter. The inside of the restaurant is spotless. Our only complain was that the service wasn't good - when we went it wasn't busy, and the people taking our order kept going back and forth to the kitchen, didn't answer our questions and were rude. If the service were better, I would go back!

Shish Tawook Platter and Lentil Soup

Wow, this restaurant is packed! It's like walking into a restaurant pre-pandemic. The restaurant isn't that big either. Customers aren't even seated that far apart, customers are walking around without their masks on and so are the employees, cooks, and manager! The cooks and waiters had it on their chin and below their nose, and the manager had it on his chin. The only employee wearing his mask correctly was the cashier. The food though, pretty good! I ordered the shish Tawook with mixed biryani and red rice, and lentil soup. It was good, especially the lentil soup and biryani rice! Both flavorful and made me want more! The chicken was like eating normally seasoned roasted chicken. It wasn't very unique, but it wasn't bad at all. I wish it was more juicy. My friend ordered the chicken shawarma and I thought that was better than the shish Tawook. I would order the chicken shawarma in the future! The thing I wouldn't do is walk in there to order out or dine inside.

They should be ashamed of themselves for calling these full skewer kabobs

First and last time. The worst customer service and the prices and their pictures gallery is misleading. I order 7 beef kabobs and 3 chicken kabobs. I paid over $50 and they sold me half skewers not as advertised on their website. I called and complained to the manager and he said that the order was fulfilled. Never going back to this place again. Plus the chicken kabobs were terrible tasting. I can't believe these people are still in business. STAY AWAY... many other better options that you can get from other places and more reasonable prices..

I've since visited the Niles location several times. The food has always been consistently excellent, but unfortunately the service has never matched the quality of the kitchen. Today's visit was by far the worst. It took over 10 minutes for our server to come to the table to take our order. Throughout the meal, I had to repeatedly flag her down whenever we needed something. To make matters worse, she seemed to disappear halfway through dinner--I'm assuming she clocked out--because we had to get another server's attention just to receive basic assistance. The food, however, was fantastic. I ordered the Al Bawadi Seafood Mixed Grill, and it absolutely delivered. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. That's what makes this so frustrating. This restaurant serves some of the best Middle Eastern food in the area, but when you're paying premium prices, you expect service that matches the quality of the food. I still recommend the food without hesitation, but the consistently poor service at the Niles location is making it harder to justify returning.

Our server was so kind and never let us make the mistake of ordering the wrong thing. She gave us her recommendations every step of the way and every single one was perfect. What we got: Mint lemonade: 5/5. SO refreshing and delicious. Perfect sweetness and the little bit of pulp you get is great. I only wish there was more of it! Chicken arayes: 4.5/5. Crispy, cheesy, garlicky. Need I say more? Get some extra garlic on the side if you wanna take it up a notch. Fried halloumi: 4/5. These are like a soft mozzarella stick, so tasty. Definitely eat the pickles with them. Lamb chops: 4.5/5. 4 tender lamb chops seasoned beautifully. Definitely recommend the red rice over the yellow if you can handle a little bit of heat. Kanafeh: 5/5. Whoever thought that cheese, sweet syrup, phyllo, and pistachios would go together is a genius. Definitely don't leave without getting this dessert. The salt of the cheese perfectly balances out the sweetness. No notes! And get some peppermint tea to go with it too. And the portion sizes are huge! Definitely get your money's worth here. My only issue is this place is right by my job so now I'm gonna go broke getting food here all the time. But that's a problem I'd love to have!

I parked in the Park Ridge 90 minute lot across/down the street, which I think folks often use for Panera/Oberweis/etc. I would not recommend parking in the Chase lot. There's also 3 hour city parking near the library, and apparently at 11 N Prospect according to the sign on their door. There's an entrance on Touhy and along Prospect, and there are two different rooms (one near each entrance) so if you're confused and looking for your party like I was, take a look in the other section. Service was really friendly. Our server was attentive, very helpful with all our questions, and happy to get us what we needed. When we didn't have questions, he came back with the answer. I had the green joujeh kebab and it was really good. I've had "plain" joujeh at other places before, and having the different flavor profile was a nice change. I also ordered the dill rice as a substitute for the basmati, which was a slight uncharge. The dill rice was good as usual but next time I might just get the plain since it too would be good, I don't like lima beans (as comes with the dill rice), and I could skip the upcharge. I also ordered a drink, the Windy City, and it was really good! Their cocktail list was very nice. I was here with my book club and everyone enjoyed their meal. The portions were plentiful too; no one went hungry and several people took a portion of theirs home. In addition to the meditteranean food, they have a couple burgers and some wraps too. The soups looked so good but we were here on a rather warm day, so next time I'm trying their chicken noodle soup, made with a tomato base, or their lentil since you can't go wrong with that.

Went with their all spice mofawar, and a cleaner palate one Qishr since hubby wanted something tea-like. After ordering all that, we noticed there's a separate tea option that had a citrusy flavor so we got the sunlit tangerine also. The drinks were very strong in a whole mix of spice flavors, which I actually really liked, but it is a little too watery, not dense or creamy enough, and the coffee flavor lean a bit more too acidic/sour. It's not bad, but I think it's just not exactly to my liking. What I didn't realize was that a lot of the spices sunk to the bottom so when I remixed the thic layer of spices with oatmilk at home, it tasted pretty good with the right consistency. All of the drinks were pretty diluted in our opinion, and I think it's too much spice for my husband although I liked it. I also ordered some pastries, but the server packed the wrong one. If I didn't look closely enough I might've missed that. There was one last Dubai pistachio cookie which I asked for, but they gave me the Biscoff cookie instead which was a less expensive one. Anyway, they were fine switching it out after I pointed out, but no apologies or anything. While we weren't impressed with the drinks at first, the medovik mouse/honey layered cake was really good-- it was pretty dense where the buttery parts were, and it was pretty sweet so it balanced well with the acidic coffee. We didn't know the cookie had more fillings on the inside until we got home. The fillings had crunchy flakes which adds a really nice texture, and the filling is not too sweet. Really good. We liked the pastries a lot more than the coffee. Perhaps we just aren't used to the flavor and taste profile of the coffee. I'd be willing to try more here.
