This place serves up some pretty darn good Thai food, and I'm a total snob about my Asian food. We took our waitress' recommendation to order the macadamia beef, and I would definitely order (and recommend) it again. The pad thai has just enough bean sprouts to give it a crunch, but not so many that you're getting ripped off (and not getting noodles). Went here this past weekend with the family. First, the bad news: the atmosphere is totally weird. The restaurant is in a building that looks like a house, which is not a big deal but a little strange. The restaurant itself is tiny, and there's a flat-screen TV up that--Saturday night around 7pm--was playing Dora the Explorer. Odd. Though there were some tables with small children, so maybe it's just a super family-friendly place. The good news is that the food was pretty tasty across the board. The edamame appetizer that we ordered showed up quickly, and was steamy, salted, and delicious. The lemongrass chicken and pad thai with crispy chicken were both yummy. One weird thing with the "Crispy Basil Chicken" which was listed under the "Fried Rice" section of the menu--it didn't come with fried rice. Just plain old white rice. That was a bummer. However, the basil chicken itself was delicious and not excessively spicy. The real stand-out entree, though, was the Post Road Mango Curry. Absolutely incredible, oh-so-fragrant, and just the right spicy-sweet flavor. Yum. Service was efficient, and my water glass was refilled several times. AND, they deliver to Framingham! My wife and I get take-out from Spice and Pepper about once every 1-2 weeks and overall, the meals have been a mix of OK and very good. I have been well treated when I walk in for take-out. They ask me if I want any water and on one very hot day, treated me to a diet drink. My wife recently had a pineapple fried rice which was very good and I had the pistachio chicken which was greasy, lacking in vegetables and sauce, and somewhat overcooked. I would not recommend the pistachio chicken. I've had some very good vegetable meals and I liked their Fisherman's Treasure which had seafood stir fried with vegetables. With a bit more consistency, I would up my rating to 4 stars. read more

This review would be a four. The food itself is quite good, the best Thai Food I have access to. However, whoever takes the orders doesn't pay attention to the notes. Excellent food. We got the duck, which was very flavorful and cooked just right. The crystal noodle dish was also very good. Their green tea was of excellent quality. They use loose leaf tea and it was steeped correctly. The atmosphere was more modern but in a warm and personal sort of way. The salt water fish tank is a nice touch. I used to go to the restaurant related to this one in Sudbury but like this one better. I don't eat there but have them deliver it and have friends over to eat it. Really yummy food and friendly service. And nothing can beat having them deliver it when I am tired. They offer gluten free food but do not understand celiac disease at all. Told them I had celiac and they bring me out fried tofu. Not fried separately. Fried right in the big ol' vat of gluten. Explained to the waitress what she did wrong. She didn't understand. I clearly asked if my gf pad Thai was cooked separate she confirmed yes. Made me wait an hour and 10 minutes for crappy food that made me sick all night and all weekend. I'm so angry. read more

The inside of the restaurant aesthetically is not so beautiful. The food was scrumptious. We shared a couple of appetizers,curry dishes, Pad Thai, and a rice dish. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. The portions were generous in size. I really enjoyed the authenticity of the dishes at this restaurant and the variety of menu choices. Parking is tricky. We loved this place. The dining space is small, but nice, and it's casual enough that we felt comfortable having our 2yo son with us (without feeling like we were at Friendly's). This place is down the street from our house. It's convenience and the food is hmm... normally good. We do one takeout a week from this place. If the owner is there, you can quarantee to get good food. One time when the owner wasn't there, the (Mexican?) cook burnt our foods. I LOVE Spice and Pepper! Sure, the inside isn't all that fancy, though i'm not sure how an employee's child coloring at the counter can really be a detriment to the food quality (as an earlier reviewer seemed to think)--HOWEVER, their food is FANTASTIC! I get takeout from this restaurant frequently, and have tried every variation of fried rice that they have. My personal favorites are the Three Tastes Fried Rice as well as the Mango Fried Rice. My honey always gets either the Almond Chicken or the Cashew Chicken, and i can attest that those are fantastic as well. I can't praise the food enough, and for those who won't go back becuase of the absence of cosmetic flourishes in the decor: good! I used to be a bigger fan of this place. The food is authentic Thai, something rare in these parts of suburbia. Located where it is, the restaurant charges pretty hefty prices for its food. Dining in, the place is not far from being a burger shack, with decor that would make the average Wendy's owner cringe. Even with intent, and I am sure there is a lot it, the place feels old and dirty - despite being clean Furthermore, the parking for the restaurant is not where the sign says. The entrance is before you pass the restaurant not after. The sign is there for months so there is minimal effort to correct or improve. In short - no dine-in, yes takeaway. In recent months, the fickle ratio between quality and price is turning for the worse. The food is not as great as it was several months ago and after a couple of gastrointestinal issues, we are pretty much done with Spice & Pepper. I am not 100% certain if they are to blame, but the high prices and lower quality lead to the conclusion to not emphatically recommend. If you must have Thai at all costs, Spice & Pepper is for you. Otherwise, look harder and go elsewhere. read more

Food is really good but make sure to have them deliver. The restaurant is awful and not the type of experience you want for the money you pay. The staff are just plain rude and unpleasant. If you have to dine inside wear something that you intend to wash right after the visit. Ventilation doesn't work. Didn't say that the food is tasty? Had garlic-sauce squid and veg wonton-type thingies. Former was fresh and clean and garlicky and a ton of veggies with not nearly enough squid; the latter were rather overfried. The place used to be a little bit seedier-seeming but the food was more unpredictable and lots of squid; now it seems changed to the more conventional, perhaps better consistency and quality, but less adventurous selections maybe and much less squid. I ordered vegetable dumplings and two veg. pad thais - however, I was given scallion pancakes instead of vegetable dumplings, which were way too greasy and made my wife and me sick. Amazingly consistent. The food is outstanding every single time. I do recommend taking out because there's not much of a dining room, and it's hot in there with the open kitchen.
