This is one of the most recommended places in Waltham for thai food. I've had them before (a long time ago) and it was not memorable. Since there has been so many recommendations for them lately, I thought I'd try them again. This place is on prospect st and there is no dedicated parking. A few street parking spaces are available, sometimes. The restaurant had a few tables inside, but it looks like it was converted to handle mostly delivery orders/take out orders only. As for the food, it was tasty but somehow I don't feel like it was great. Because of that I was thinking 3.5 stars, leaning on 3. My family ate it and liked the taste though. So as such, I upgraded it to 4 stars. The crispy chicken in the pad thai was not crispy and it tastes like bad frozen chicken that was refried. Its nothing like the crispy chicken from a great thai place like Rod Dee's in Brookline. The pineapple chicken wasn't even a full plate. It was filled like half or 3/4 of the way. However, pricing was decent. I'll leave it at 4 stars for now, but I'm not sure if I'll ever have an opportunity to try them again...maybe if I want Carl's subs next door but the fam wants thai food? :) read more

But absolutely don't let the appearance of the interior deter you - you can rest assured that not only is the food good, the care your order is handled with is of an appropriately high degree, all things considered. Have an allergy or strong dietary restriction? No need to worry, Tree Top Thai takes that seriously. Seeing the clear "vegan" label scrawled across the top of my order (in addition to being on the printed receipt) immediately set my mind at ease. The decor consists of hand drawings by one of the employees. Some of the portraits are wonderfully done. I had the fresh roll which was average with little flavor. We ordered take out last night and we were disappointed. The shrimp fresh roll was good but everything else was mediocre to poor. The Tom Yum soup was way too salty to eat. Second time trying this place. I waiter until i tried them again to review. Based on my second order, i would recommend this family-run restaurant. The food was fresh and order was ready in about 15 minutes on a recent friday afternoon. They don't really have indoor seating and parking was tough (parking is available across the street at the gas station in a pinch if nothing else is open). My family and I stumbled upon this place because we were looking for a place for a late dinner after checking in to our hotel nearby. Not gonna lie, when we drove past the place we were slightly disappointed to see how small the place was and how it seemed to be in the middle of a not so lively residential area. Perhaps this slightly lowered our expectations, but honestly we found the meal to be really really good after eating here. First of, the service here is incredibly kind and friendly. They interacted with us with nothing but genuine smiles and were really helpful in helping us choose three good dishes that we could share. Our waitress recommended the crazy noodles, mango fried rice, and a curry (which I sadly forgot which one it was!) and we thought all were super tasty. At first impression, I thought the serving size were on the smaller size, but ended up being the right amount for the three of us. We literally cleared everything on our plates and we were completely full and satisfied :) definitely one satisfying meal! Also, don't forget to get a thai ice tea to accompany your meal. I tried takeout from Tree Top for dinner and thought it was pretty good food. I shared the beef satay appetizer, Panang curry with fried tofu, and the Crazy Noodles. The beef satay came with yummy dipping sauces, and the meat itself was pretty good for the most part, aside from a couple tough spots. The Panang curry was also very good flavor-wise, although the sauce was on the thin side and a lot of the rice was kind of gummy. I did really like the fried tofu--the restaurant uses large pieces of silken tofu, but they don't fall apart and have a nice texture. The crazy noodles were also very tasty and came with a lot of egg and vegetables, but I also think they could have been cooked better because the noodles were just soft instead of chewy/springy. Overall, I think Tree Top achieved good flavors in their food, but the way they cook their starches could be improved. It was still a very satisfying meal, and I think Tree Top is a solid takeout option! read more

Cute mom and pop thai. It has a very homey feel with hand sketched portraits and drawings on the wall and on their menu. The service is great, they are very nice and the food comes out quick! Country style pad thai was classic. Perfect pad thai noodles, flavor and texture. It came with chicken and a few pieces of shrimp. V tastyy! This is a must when you come here! Crazy noodle tasted like pad see ew. Not a dish I usually get at a thai place, but it was good. I liked that there was a lot of chinese broccoli in this dish. It also came with shrimps! Crispy Chicken Basil had great flavor. Nice spicy sauce that went very well with the bell peppers and chicken. The chicken lost its crispiness from the sauce they use. I think this dish would be better if that chicken had more of a crispy bite. Each dish had a slight spicy kick which wasn't overwhelming and allowed you to enjoy each dish for their specific flavors. 3.5 stars probably, but can't give it 4 unfortunately. It's a small place with very little (if any) ambiance, about 10 tables with hand-drawn portrait art on the walls, BUT the food is quite tasty. The beef skewers (app), coconut seafood soup, and crazy noodles (entree) were all hits with our group. They did get one order wrong, but corrected it when asked. The price point is also great. All-in a good spot. Seems like more popular for takeout mid-week than eat-in given the amount of people strolling through for their to-go orders. read more

Since moving back to the area, this was one of our weekly lunch spots, so it's disappointing to have to update my review with a 1 star, but I had a terrible experience here and will not be back. We arrived here at 2:40 after fighting traffic for 45 minutes to get here to be told that we could not have the lunch menu, only the dinner menu. After pointing out that it was still lunch time, the waitress didn't care and said 2:45-2:50 we stop serving lunch. Ok, well that's why we are here prior to that time. The item I wanted was only served at lunch. We got up and walked out and won't be back. Mind you, there is very little difference between lunch and dinner prices, just a slightly different selection of food, which is what we wanted. We didn't want a big, heavy dinner at 2:40 in the afternoon. And we were the only people in the place. I hope it was worth it to them to lose the weekly business. I don't want to give my money to any business that does not appreciate it's customers. And on a side note, the decor is awful and so is getting parking in the area. Despite that, we liked going whenever we had to make a trip to Costco in the area, but we will be finding a new go to spot. read more

We have tried Tree Top Thai Cuisine in Waltham on a couple of occasions during the pandemic to fulfill our Thai cravings with positive reviews. They specialize in traditional Thai offerings including Pad Thai, Crispy Pad Thai, Crazy Noodles as well as specialities such as Lemon Grass Chicken, Pineapple Sautéed Chicken, Basil Sautéed Special with Chicken, Crispy Chicken Basil. They were also able to prepare gluten free Pad Thai upon request which is an important attribute. Their fried rice dishes were also very good. While we have not tried any of their curry dishes personally, friends have sworn that they are just as delicious. While they are take and delivery only, be aware that parking which can be a challenge under normal circumstances can be an issue especially with road construction in front of their location. Plan ahead. So when you have a thai craving, give Tree Top Thai Cuisine a try. read more

Good Thai takeout in west Waltham. I was craving some Thai noodles and curry, so I ordered takeout from Tree Top Thai Cuisine for lunch. You can find most of your Thai takeout staples here - curry of the Panang, red, Massaman, yellow, green, and Prik Khing varieties, Pad Thai or Crazy Noodles, Laksa (noodle soup), basil or cashew nut stir fry, lemongrass chicken, and numerous seafood dishes. I ordered the Massaman Curry and the Crazy Noodle with Tofu. The Massaman Curry came with chicken, roasted peanuts, carrots, onions, peppers, and sweet potatoes. The curry itself was thin and the chicken was cut into thin strips. I'm used to this dish coming with potato instead of sweet potato. Overall this felt more like a red curry. But, I did get my craving for stir fried meat and vegetables in a coconut curry. The rice noodle in the vegetable crazy noodle was a little soft for my liking - but I did appreciate the variety and abundance of vegetables. In addition to broccoli, carrots, and corn, I got a few pieces of Chinese broccoli as well. There were thin shredded bits of egg. A nice balance of noodle, vegetable, and egg was served. TAKEOUT REVIEW ONLY I obsess over Thai food! So when I needed dinner while travelling (at my hotel in Newton MA) I used Uber Eats and chose Tree Top Thai based on Yelp ratings. I love panang curry, I get it at almost every Thai restaurant I encounter. And I had a hankering for a Thai noodle dish. Uber Eats worked perfectly, and I had my food quickly. I ordered the Crazy Noodle (Typical Bangkok's dish. Soft wide fresh rice noodles stir-fried with tofu, onion, basil leaves, eggs and Chinese broccoli) and panang curry (with lemon leaf, string bean, egg plant, mushroom, baby corn, basil leaf, green and red pepper). I found both to be in the 'meh' realm. The noodles were a bit gummy, the sauce not particularly interesting. The panang curry was simply not good, lacking the bright peanut and spice flavors that I typically experience. I have had Thai food from other Boston area places like Nine Tastes in Cambridge and Little Spoon in downtown Needham. Unfortunate that this place doesn't come close to others. read more

Super expensive for extremely lackluster Thai food. The sparkling Yelp reviews are extremely surprising to me. We had their Tom Yum Soup, sauteed pork medallions, and a duck curry. All of the dishes had a chewy, fatty, and overcooked (or possibly frozen) bits of meat. All of the dishes had a strangely sweet taste, and they were all overall pretty bland. Almost every other Thai restaurant I've been to in Boston is better than here. Our bill for all of the above was $60 including tip. The restaurant itself is very pleasant, and the staff are very nice. I just wish that more effort was placed into the food, especially at this price point. read more

My family and friends have enjoyed Tree Top Thai for years. The order of two entrees today resulted in two orders of poorly cut some what old vegetables interspersed with correctly cut, reasonably fresh and cooked vegetables in a sugary red curry. Two orders of really bad red curry for $ 37.15 ? I didn't order red curry at all. Massaman curry & Prick King curry are two different types of preparation. Really different. Prik King curry is prepared by fast wok cooking fresh basil leaves, fresh chilies with garlic, etc. Massaman curry is prepared with potatoes & peanuts and is a specific type of curry. If not fresh prepared, it comes in a can in most Asian markets. The canned curry sauces are fine to cook with at times. It's just thats not what I was served. I was served garbage. The food used to be consistently good here. If their cooks are doubling up on pretty badly made red curry with some old vegetables, then perhaps the management has changed ? Or they simply don't like preparing vegetarian food ? Or perhaps MY food in particular ? Hmm. Loyal customer here. The owner or manager ansering the ohone swore up and down that his delivery person DID not send me explicit text & obnoxious question. He seemed innocent in person, but really, you can never tell nowadays. The owner or manager was initially apologetic and bewildered by hearing of said texts. I apologized. I told them not to worry. I apologized to the ( innocent ? ) young man who actually seemed very nice. I told them we had crossed wires. ( Apparently we did. ) .All was ok. You literally cannot go wrong with Tree Top! They are far and away, my favorite restaurant. In the beginning of the pandemic, I told my husband I would single handedly keep Tree Top open if I could. Would I die for Tree Top? I might. To get to the actual review.... their menu has many options, and everything I've tried on the menu is fantastic. Some faves include the tree top fried rice, curries (they're all delicious), lemon grass chicken, capricorn shrimp, tom yum soup, and summer rolls. Their pad thai and drunken noodles are awesome too. I could keep going, but I'll leave it there for now. The people who work here are joyful and kind -- the kind of people who make supporting a local restaurant feel even more rewarding. I always appreciate the artful doodles they leave on the takeout bags. Regarding COVID safety measures, they have a great system and it is easy to see that they are taking all precautions. I meant to write a review for this place months ago, but it's been sitting in my drafts, so that should tell you something. I didn't feel strongly enough about it, positively or negatively, to want to write a review right away. So my experience here was pretty underwhelming. I went in for a late lunch on a weekday and it was pretty much dead. The good thing about that is the service was very quick. The servers were nice enough. My meal, however, missed the mark. I ordered a Thai iced tea and mango chicken curry. The Thai iced tea was way too sweet, so much that I didn't even bother to finish it. The mango curry looked better than it tasted. It wasn't bad by any means, but there was an unbalanced portion of vegetables compared to chicken. The curry was a nice combination of sweet and spicy, but there wasn't enough of it on the plate. On the bright side, from what I recall the portion size was sufficient for a lunch. The price was a pretty good deal too. I probably won't be back mainly because I'm rarely in Waltham these days. Just tried this place for the first time and it was pretty good. What attracted me was the overly fair prices on UberEats. A dish for $10-12 on there is a steal. I got the pasta with mild basil sauce with chicken and shrimp. A very basic, but yummy dish. The dish was oddly satisfying. The pasta was different, and was perfectly cooked. This was the most mild basil sauce I have experienced while eating Thai Food which is not a bad thing at all. The portions, while I didn't find the best was average for what it was. The only complaint that I could think of was, they put too much egg in the dish for my liking. The Thai Tea was very good, but was a bit too sweet for my personal liking, but regardless was very good. Overall, a great experience and will def be returning here sometime. read more

I enjoy their crazy noodles. I ended up getting the lunch version which has less meat than their dinner portions which I don't mind too much. If you have a high tolerance for spicy foods then this is the Thai spot for you. I like that they don't drench their noodles in oyster sauce which most restaurants do which I find unappetizing. My roommate enjoyed her lemonade and teriyaki salmon plate. Their thai iced tea is way too sweet but not terrible. Delivery driver was very efficient especially during this pandemic. I've ordered Tree Top Thai a couple times and I always get Crazy Noodles and Mango Sticky Rice. Their Pad Thai is alright but nothing my favorite. The satay portion is pretty generous and great to share. My friend enjoyed the Tofu and Penang Vegetable Curry. The Tree Top Fried rice is really hearty, there's lots of different vegetables but it is a bit on the oily side. In general I like Tree Top Thai over many of the other Thai places in general and the Mango Sticky Rice never misses. read more

Tree Top has grown into one of my favorite restaurants ever!! I typically get the Pad Thai with chicken and shrimp or their Green Curry with fried tofu, but everything is delicious. Their Crab Rangoon are also a great treat if you want something extra comforting in your tummy. On top of all that, they've done a great job when it comes to Covid safety. Everyone I've seen wears their masks properly and they have a designated area right inside the door for picking up takeout so you're in and out quickly. Someone there also personalizes each takeout bag with a cute drawing, which is such a nice touch! However, after some taste-experimentation, my DC realized that the thin white chicken pieces hadn't been drenched in the spicy sauce, and so was safe for my consumption.
