5/10 the waffles were pretty good, the wings didn't have much flavor

I was really looking forward to patronizing this Caribbean icon's establishment, especially experiencing it outside of NYC. Considering I already think NYC has thee best food options, I went in open and hopeful to be proven wrong. I arrived excited and ready to vibe, but that excitement quickly faded. The aesthetic, or lack thereof, was disappointing. I expected something vibrant, colorful, or even a chic modern look. Instead, the space felt neglected and unkept. I was also surprised by the absence of music, which immediately threw off the atmosphere, though I tried to keep in mind that this isn't NYC. Once seated, I noticed how mash-up the chairs were. Mine literally had exposed nails. Still, in anticipation of mimosas and Jamaican food for brunch, I shifted slightly to the side and focused on enjoying my best friend's company. Our server was just alright. Very much giving "here for the paycheck," not necessarily service-driven. Unfortunately, that's become common these days, so I adjusted my expectations, and tipped accordingly. The menu itself had promise. I appreciated the Southern fusion options with a Jamaican twist, and the hookah menu was surprisingly comprehensive, though we chose not to order one. We opted for the unlimited mimosas, and to be fair, we definitely got our money's worth. That said, I was disappointed to learn they were pre-mixed. I prefer fresh orange juice with popped brut or sparkling, and once I saw how the drinks were prepared, it made sense for a busy brunch crowd- just not my preference. For food, we ordered the oxtail egg rolls to start, along with the Spice Breakfast and chicken and waffles. Everything was... fine. No real complaints, but no standout moments either. Overall, the brunch was okay. I might give them another try for dinner, but this visit didn't quite live up to the expectations.

Visited Spice House Thursday for happy hour. It was not happy. The appetizers tasted like they were rewarmed and reserved. We had the wings, oxtail eggrolls, and spice eggrolls. They were not good at all. I don't know what happened. However, the customer service from May was Awesome tho!! The ambiance was nice.

I found this place on Yelp while traveling through Atlanta. It's a restaurant, club, bar, and hookah lounge. I had the Kingston Jerk Chicken, with red beans and rice, cabbage and vegetables. It was amazing! Great portions, and I ate most of it before I gave up. So good! The service is excellent, and the ambiance is very laid back, yet happy and festive.

    Last Inspection of 73

My Mom & I got the WORST food poisoning we've ever had -- all from Mother's Day brunch @ Spice House Lithonia. Severe abdominal pain for DAYS and all. BOTH households went to the doctor. BOTH diagnosed w/ food poisoning. Ordered stool culture. Advised to file a complaint with the Health Department. Talked w/ management, who RUDELY tried to mention a flawless kitchen, so I researched: This "restaurant" recently had a HEALTH SCORE OF 49. Not a 79. Not a 69. ....... A 49. *** FORTY. NINE. **** Can't get Health Inspection above the 70s in 2026. My mother had the Mother's Day Lobster Pasta special. I had the Rasta Pasta. I only took ONE bite of her dish. She never touched mine. We BOTH got sick. And the damage didn't stop there. The sickness was so bad my father had to cancel the rest of our Mother's Day plans that evening. Also, Mother's Day concert tickets for that Monday? Missed. Non-refundable tickets wasted because too sick to attend. Complete lack of accountability from management. I spoke with the manager, Tim, calmly asking for ONE thing: refund the FOOD only. Not the drinks. Not the gratuity. Waitress was excellent and I still tipped ~40%. Total bill was around $174. I'm always a big tipper so this isn't someone wanting a check. Tim became defensive, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. He repeatedly interrupted me, asked questions then REFUSED to let me answer them, cursed while discussing staff issues, and actually said things like, "Well if you were REALLY sick, why didn't you go to the doctor?" Sir... it had only been a lil more than ONE FULL DAY. We went the NEXT DAY after that. Then he claimed nobody else complained. But after asking publicly, multiple people reported getting sick after the Mother's Day brunch too. Some even pointed me towards other discussions online. When I tried showing him? He walked away mid-conversation. I've eaten here many times for the Thursday crab leg nights. The food often tastes good, but they constantly run out of items, and looking back, I've gotten mysteriously sick more than once after eating there and could never pinpoint the source until now. That's the dangerous part!!!!!!!!!!!!! ****The food CAN taste good while still being improperly handled.**** Tim claimed their inspections were "flawless", which made me look them up and see that is objectively false. Anyone can look up DeKalb County Board of Health inspection records and see that this restaurant has struggled badly with health scores. A 49 health score is not "one bad night." That's a PATTERN. I tried to resolve this PRIVATELY and peacefully. Instead I got denial, DISRESPECT, and zero accountability after they made my MAMA sick on Mother's Day. At this point, with:Medical diagnoses.Documented symptoms.Multiple similar complaints.Poor health inspection history. And management refusing accountability... ...this is starting to look less like a private complaint and more like a PUBLIC, NEWS-WORTHY health issue. Spice House --this situation is FAR from over.

Service was good, food took forever to come out but overall the food was good whenever it did come out. Drinks were good but pricey for $16.

Parking is tight. You can pay for valet parking closer to the door. The ambiance was nice. Of course there is hookah and a DJ. My cousin and I sat at the bar. The bartenders were very nice. My Rasta pasta came out dry and the bartender returned it to the kitchen to get it fixed for me. I'm said the Cascade road location isn't coming back. I don't know how many times I will drive to Lithonia for my favorite Rasta pasta. The Midtown location is a no for me.

I've been a fan of spice house for years and I'm so glad they decided to open a location in Lithonia. This was hands-down the best location out of the three that I've tried in the metro Atlanta area. I came in on a Friday during lunch and was greeted by the staff immediately and ordered the Jerk Chicken lunch special. The food was so delicious especially the cabbage it had so much flavor and spice and the chicken was cooked perfectly. Highly recommend you come and get this dish and have a taste of the authentic flavors.

Mac & Cheese. Looks good. Was just ok to me.

Service was good. Ambiance is good. Well decorated. The food was ok to me. Nothing to brag about. It maybe different for you. It's kind of a bar/club as well. Guess that's why it's also had lounge in its name ‍

While in town we visited the Spice House off of recommendation from a local friend and 'BY GOLLY' when I tell you it was hands down the BEST experience all around!! Lexie, our waitress, was so patient and attentive to our requests. I didn't get the bartenders name, but she concocted my drink request perfectly! The manager, beautiful sweetheart Ruthy's energy and vibe was unmatched!!! From the moment we walked in...though a little uncertain of what to expect....everyone was so quick to great us and seat us! Down to the excellent service and drinks, we demanded to meet the Chef, Junior, to personally thank him for the amazing food....such a kind, humble young man!! We intend to eat here every night until we leave this weekend!! I highly recommend Spice House and I will certainly dine here EVERY time I'm in Atlanta!! Thank you so much Ruthy, Lexie and Junior!! You all are the BEST!! See you again tonight!!!

Second Time coming here, I ordered salmon with mashed & broccoli and Wings with macaroni. Both meals were around $32 the wings was a good portion and taste great, The salmon was different from the last time I had it , wasn't too please with the type of salmon they used it was very small and the portion overall was very small considering the price. Other than that the taste was pretty good my only complaint is the salmon type and the portion.

Spice House Lithonia is a small restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere. WARNING: The parking is very limited and there is a cover charge of $10. My friends and I went to check out the live band. We were offered the opportunity to reserve seats online for free, so I reserved three. Well, don't waste your time because the seating was nothing like the layout online. The available tables were created for two guests, which was disappointing. We had to sit all the way in the back of the restaurant, however, the elevated positioning allowed us a clear view of the band. We ordered oxtail egg rolls and shrimp for appetizers, which were pretty good. My friends ordered a seafood bowl and salmon with broccoli and mashed potatoes. They stated that the entrées were okay and that the broccoli was bland. On a brighter note, the band was amazing, and the lighting effects were very entertaining! I would return to Spice House Lithonia to enjoy the live music, but it's not my new favorite spot.

I would say at least 10 to 12 cars could fit in the parking lot so you need to be in and out. The food was good but not how i thought it would be based on things my friend said plus seeing other places on social media talking about how good the food is. The food was nice. I would rate the place a 7 out of 10 and the food a 7/10 as well . I tried the rice and pease with fried chicken to much coconut milk in the rice 6/10 The jerk chicken pasta 7/10 The shrimp pasta very big shrimp a good 8 shrimp full of noodles an lots of bell peppers 7/10 . The service is kinda slow i guess cause the food cook to order they say so again i recommend order ahead . They had a few seating inside to sit looks like they even have a dining area to chill or keep small party but idk cause the parking space don't look right .

When she brought it out, it had 3/4 worth of fat in the container and a little bit of seasoned gravy. In fact, it was so much fat the container top would not close, because it would slide off. So I did without. The peas and rice were tasty and the rice was fluffy. The brown stew chicken was delicious. I'm sure they have other dishes that would blow What I ordered away. I'll look for that opportunity the next time. Photo speaks for itself. Yes I would dine again. Prices are high, a lunch plate of chicken cost 22.00 plus a 5 dollar tip that I added out of generosity. So 27.00 bucks for mediocrity is a challenge to be maintained.

I asked for the 1/4 chicken with bread, a jerk patty and some cocoa bread. I remember it taking a minute to come out but WHOAAAAHH waaaaas it worth it! This spot has THE best jerk chicken I've had since I've been in the state of Georgia HANDS DOWN. Sooooo flavorful and falling off the bone. The jerk patty was even crazy dope. It was so good that I ate it by itself and was about to toss the cocoa bread I purchased with it on account of my full stomach but something said...ahhh might as well try it first... The first thing that I noticed was that she placed the patty in a bag I've never seen in a Jamaican restaurant. It was paper on the outside and aluminum on the inside...thus keeping the bread soft and heat intact. Then I bit into it...ohhh my frickin GOD! This place is amazing. After a visit to Kroger one day and seeing Tropic Jerks next door, I figured I'd come back one day and check them out. Which I did one early weekday evening. First impressions were great when I walked inside. It wasn't a large space, but the huge wall mural of the Johnny Bus was a beautiful sight. The large windows made it nice and bright in there, the pops of yellow, green, and red were all nice touches. Very refreshing! There were two other parties in the restaurant before me so I hopped in line and checked out the menu. It's always so difficult for me to pick out what I want to eat and the specials menu made it even harder. I ended up going with jerk chicken, figuring that I'd be back again to try more options another day. Pricing was decent but I think that I'll try to come during lunch time to check out their lunch specials. After I ordered my food, my name was called about 10 min later and I grabbed my food and headed home. After finishing errands and finally getting home and ready to eat, I opened my takeout box and what a surprise I received. There was no jerk chicken but... OXTAILS? Omg. God favors me so. To the Tropic Jerks team, pls forgive me because I absolutely sat there and ate it lol. I enjoyed them! I'm sure the jerk chicken would have been great but I have no complaints obviously. Next time I go back, I sure hope they don't make a wonderful mistake like that again. ;-)
