    Vegetable Plate

I visited this restaurant today. Ordered a Small Vegetable plate that reads "Comes with Rice & Peas, Cabbage, & Plantains" for $9.95. The lady was very friendly and polite, no issues there at all. She fixed my food and handed me my bag. I thanked her, walked out & as I walked, I was thinking "my food is pretty lite. I proceeded to my car and opened my bad and found no "vegetables" and only rice/peas, cabbage, and plantains. I went back in to ask about the "vegetable" situation and she said all that come on this plate is rice/peas, cabbage, & plantains. I was very disappointed that I was a bit mislead by their menu/menu wording for a vegetable plate. I would've expected broccoli, squash, zucchini, etc... so yea... pretty much what I got wasn't a vegetable plate. Wasn't worth the cost. Rice/peas was a bit gummy and cabbage was a bit too crunchy for me. I'd like them steamed a little longer. I'll have to give them a break.

Best Jamaican spot by far everything seasoned perfectly. Everything falls right off the bone. Will highly recommend to anybody that comes out here in Lithonia Ga. Service was great. Chill spot.

Lordty- im addicted to this restaurant. The food is spectacular. The portion size is big. The quality is amazing. The taste - phenomenal. The price - reasonable. Authentic Jamaican food. Now when I first came here, I was a little surprised. It's in what looks like an old shopping center. It's a mom and pop shop. Looks run down a bit. But don't let that deter you. I usually place an order via phone for pick up. The wait time is about 25-30 min, depending on how busy they are. I would recommend this place. I've been here probably 5 times, and will return.

Portion and taste was extremely disappointing & underwhelming for the high price. And the customer service was even worse. Don't eat here!

Came in and ordered a small oxtail. The total comes up to $12+ . And that comes with only rice, cabbage, and the meat. No plaintain! If you want plaintain you have to buy the large or order it on the side for 3 extra dollars! So the food comes! IT'S THE SMALLEST, SADDEST BOX OF OXTAIL I HAVE EVER SEEN! 4 Little dry up piece of oxtail, 5 pounds of rice, and a small spoon of cabbage. I tell him the good was unacceptable and he starts to argue loudly with me so I walk out. But turn back before I get to my car because I was pissed! I go back in and We debate some more. He tells me he's not fixing the order and not giving me a refund. So I stand there and call my back and they refund me. UNCOUTH, DISGUSTING JERK!! I see why this place is always empty and why the reviews are bad.... WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS NASTY PLACE!!

Meat trio combination. Oxtail, Ribs, and Jerk Chicken. Fried Fried Plantain and brown rice

This place was a bit hard to find, and not to be confused with the other Jamaican restaurant in the same parking lot. Susnset is in a little mall structure that has other businesses in it. Once you do don't it the food is top notch. I went with the meat trio combination, oxtail, jerk chicken, and ribs. Both the oxtail and ribs were fall off the bone tender. The chicken was moist and tender as well. All the meats spice and seasoning were spot on. About low-medium spiciness. The meal came with brown rice and beans and a fried plantain(which the owner fired up fresh). If you like Caribbean/Jamaican food you really should try this place!

We tried the oxtail pasta, jerk chicken pasta, pineapple with fish and beef patty. Everything was delicious. We're definitely going to order again. We ordered through Uber Eats and delivery was fast.

    Super dry pasta. SMH.

While waiting, I heard who I assume was the owner loudly shouting at and berating staff, and the entire atmosphere immediately became uncomfortable. It genuinely sounded disrespectful and degrading. You could literally feel the tension in the room. No matter how good the food might be, I personally can't enjoy a place where employees are being spoken to like that in front of customers. It honestly made me feel bad for the workers. People are trying to do their jobs, and being humiliated or yelled at publicly is unnecessary and unprofessional. And honestly, maybe this is part of why the customer service felt so off. If management treated staff with more respect and patience, maybe customers would have a much better experience too. Hope the employees there are treated better behind closed doors, because what I witnessed was enough to make me leave before even ordering.

I would say at least 10 to 12 cars could fit in the parking lot so you need to be in and out. The food was good but not how i thought it would be based on things my friend said plus seeing other places on social media talking about how good the food is. The food was nice. I would rate the place a 7 out of 10 and the food a 7/10 as well . I tried the rice and pease with fried chicken to much coconut milk in the rice 6/10 The jerk chicken pasta 7/10 The shrimp pasta very big shrimp a good 8 shrimp full of noodles an lots of bell peppers 7/10 . When she brought it out, it had 3/4 worth of fat in the container and a little bit of seasoned gravy. In fact, it was so much fat the container top would not close, because it would slide off. So I did without. The peas and rice were tasty and the rice was fluffy. The brown stew chicken was delicious. I'm sure they have other dishes that would blow What I ordered away. I'll look for that opportunity the next time. Photo speaks for itself. Yes I would dine again. Prices are high, a lunch plate of chicken cost 22.00 plus a 5 dollar tip that I added out of generosity. So 27.00 bucks for mediocrity is a challenge to be maintained.

I asked for the 1/4 chicken with bread, a jerk patty and some cocoa bread. I remember it taking a minute to come out but WHOAAAAHH waaaaas it worth it! This spot has THE best jerk chicken I've had since I've been in the state of Georgia HANDS DOWN. Sooooo flavorful and falling off the bone. The jerk patty was even crazy dope. It was so good that I ate it by itself and was about to toss the cocoa bread I purchased with it on account of my full stomach but something said...ahhh might as well try it first... The first thing that I noticed was that she placed the patty in a bag I've never seen in a Jamaican restaurant. It was paper on the outside and aluminum on the inside...thus keeping the bread soft and heat intact. Then I bit into it...ohhh my frickin GOD! This place is amazing. After a visit to Kroger one day and seeing Tropic Jerks next door, I figured I'd come back one day and check them out. Which I did one early weekday evening. First impressions were great when I walked inside. It wasn't a large space, but the huge wall mural of the Johnny Bus was a beautiful sight. The large windows made it nice and bright in there, the pops of yellow, green, and red were all nice touches. Very refreshing! There were two other parties in the restaurant before me so I hopped in line and checked out the menu. It's always so difficult for me to pick out what I want to eat and the specials menu made it even harder. I ended up going with jerk chicken, figuring that I'd be back again to try more options another day. Pricing was decent but I think that I'll try to come during lunch time to check out their lunch specials. After I ordered my food, my name was called about 10 min later and I grabbed my food and headed home. After finishing errands and finally getting home and ready to eat, I opened my takeout box and what a surprise I received. There was no jerk chicken but... OXTAILS? Omg. God favors me so. To the Tropic Jerks team, pls forgive me because I absolutely sat there and ate it lol. I enjoyed them! I'm sure the jerk chicken would have been great but I have no complaints obviously. Next time I go back, I sure hope they don't make a wonderful mistake like that again. ;-)
