First time visiting this place and it won't be my last. The wait on a day as busy as today (Fathers Day) was only a few minutes, and all of the waitstaff were zipping around the whole time keeping glasses full and turning over tables. The ambiance is lovely--well lit, bright, and with beautiful artwork along the walls. Most importantly, the food was impressive. The chef has found a sweet spot between offering just enough variety to appeal to multiple palettes, but not so much that it's overwhelming. The selection is just right so as to allow the quality to not diminish. The chutneys and sauces are clearly house-made, with the textures and aromas to prove it. The prices were reasonable as well given the quality of the cuisine. This is one of only two Indian restaurants in the Capital Region worth going to, point blank period. read more

This was my very first experience eating Indian Food. I would recommend this place. I am not one who has a big fan of curry. so I ordered the chili chicken and the chicken wing appetizer. what I ordered was very good. the chili chicken had a lot of space on the backend, but on the menu, it was noted to be spicy. My wife ordered eggplant in a creamy tomato sauce. she was not expecting it to have curry as an ingredient. however, it was heavily flavored with curry, and was not to our liking. But if you enjoy the taste of curry, I'm sure you would love it. The restaurant is a little on the small side, but it was very clean. The staff was very friendly and very professional. the prices seem very reasonable. the only downside is it took a very long time to get our food. we were part of a large group and we're in good company so the weight didn't seem as bad. and normally if I have to wait a long time I don't mind as long as the food is worth it. And in this instance, it was very worth it. the wait time is the only reason I didn't give it a fifth star. we will definitely return and try something else on the menu. read more

We've been to many over the years. I am not exaggerating about how good Spice Malabar is! When it first opened we thought it was okay, but luckily we went back, and it kept getting better and better. This restaurant is amazing!! We used to go to Karavalli in Latham a lot and were excited to hear that they had opened up this location in Clifton Park. They've only been open a few weeks and we have already been 2x. The first was for dinner which was amazing and again today to try their lunch buffet. The lunch buffet had everything ranging from the staples like chicken tikka masala and channa masala to fried fish, 2 different biryani dishes and mutton curry. Also, if you've never tried mango kulfi, order it for dessert. It's sooooo good! Overall, the food is fresh, the service is great and the restaurant is clean and bright. I was hesitant about buffets in the covid age but they supply gloves and they space you far enough apart while sitting. We can't wait to go back! read more

This was our first time trying this restaurant tonight and we were blown away. It is hands down the best Indian food around. The food was mouth-watering and we couldn't stop talking about how good it was. The portions were the perfect size to eat half of in the dining room and then take the other half home for amazing leftovers the next day. The prices were very reasonable and the service was awesome too. We will definitely be coming back a lot and bringing all of our friends who love Indian cuisine as well! If I could I would have given it 6 stars. We were visiting from Connecticut and our local friends recommended this place for dinner . Boy! the food was absolutely delicious. I don't care for other things that much when the place has really awesome food.one person can't able to finish the portion they are giving.I've been to so many Indian restaurants through out the US, this one definitely will make it among top 5 on my list!! Went to the lunch buffet. Selection was fine. Price was right. Bread was too thick and doughy. Sauces were much too sweet. I know that buffets tend to not be really spicy so as not to offend people who prefer mild spice, but I didn't detect any heat whatsoeever. Bland. I'm torn on the number of stars to give Spice Malabar - the first time we ordered from this restaurant it was nothing short of amazing. The second time we ordered it was good, but nothing to write home about. Today, our order was deeply disappointing. We ordered pick up, and the food was ready even though I was early. Normally this would be wonderful, but it resulted in barely warm food. The korma was overridden with a spice (nutmeg?) that made it taste like a holiday candle to the point of being nearly inedible. The veggie sampler was tepid, and some of the fried vegetables were over cooked, over salted, and some were even missing filling. The other dishes were ok, but not the quality that we were expecting for the price you pay. I'm sorry to say that we won't be ordering from here again. read more

We ordered from Spice Malabar last night for my birthday dinner and we were not disappointed. We ordered vegetable samosas and paneer naan, as well as the Chettinadu kebab and a Korma. We requested the Korma be a little spicy, and it arrived exactly as requested. I think it is some of best Indian food I've had ... maybe ever.
