As cliche as it sounds, I wish I could give more than 5 stars. This is the second day in a row I have eaten here, my third time over all. The food is outstanding, OUTSTANDING!!! The lunch buffet will set the bar unreachable high for any other restaurants you may try in the future- not just for the quality of food, but for the value too. The staff here are also extremely kind, considerate, and compassionate people. After eating here 3 times I truly feel "at home". This is purely based on takeout so buyer beware. In a sea of Albany 10's that are rest of the world 6's, I'm going out on a limb and saying as a life long foodie frequently critical of Albany's finest establishments, my favorite meal might no longer be Five Guys/Saigon Springs -- it's a toss up. As a regular Karavalli diner, our chili chicken and chicken tikka masala were superior to that of my former favorite Indian dining establishment. Prices were fair. Again. No idea about service or cold buffets. Let me add that the portions are generous and those two dishes can easily be 6 portions is you like rice and happen to have more at home. If not. Order and extra serving of rice and you can get four-six solid meals from two entrees. And please. This is not Cheesecake Factory portions which are obscene. I'm talking regular sized meals to help keep that beach body figure you've worked so hard to earn. This will be my new go to in the takeout landscape. read more

I've had a sensitive stomach and I haven't been able to eat a lot but they have sweet lassi. Sweet lassi makes me feel better. And they have the best sweet lassi I have ever had in my whole life. So this is five star review is on their sweet lassi. It is amazing and they put lovely cardamon seeds in it and it makes it so much more amazing. Waitstaff is good. Food is pretty bad: overloaded with garam masala to the point where you cannot taste anything. They have not even spared the dosa which literally is not even supposed to have these spices. The food at this place is delicious. It's the best Indian food in the entire area in my opinion. Everything is fresh and perfectly cooked and the sauces are rich and the perfect flavor and consistency. I've only gotten takeout so far but I am very impressed by the ambience in the restaurant. Be careful I went to this restaurant because I find their food tasty. Because of the Corona virus I was a little nervous to try a serve yourself buffet lunch. When I saw a sign on the door "NO MASK, NO ENTRY" I felt it would be OK. While eating I noticed 4 different guest helping themselves to food not wearing masks. Management said nothing to these people. I brought it to their attention and they still said nothing. Sorry but I find this very uncomfortable and deceptive. I live in California and New York and travel the globe eating some of the best and worst food available. I was here in Clifton Park to work out at Orange Theory today. I was driving through this shopping center overwhelmed by the myriad of restaurant options. My sister was with me and she is a vegetarian so I was trying to appease her. Selfishly, I was thinking "anything but Indian." I am not terribly picky and I can eat pretty much anything especially diverse, international food options. Frankly, Spice Malabar was a drive-by surprise. The restaurant doesn't look like much on the outside, but it is super nice on the inside. From the second we were greeted and sat down to our very last encounter with one of the partners, 'Nidin', my sister and I were pleasantly blown away! This is THE best Indian restaurant we have ever been to! Living in California, we are exposed to a plethora of Indian food options. This is THE absolute best! Do yourself a favor, come here. So we ordered a bunch of stuff to try out. My husband got samosas, chickpea salad, chicken tikka naan and I got the paneer tandoor. I'd never seen paneer tandoor before on a menu and I love paneer. The ordering app was easy and pickup was fast and convenient. The naan was excellent and the chickpea salad was fought over. The samosas were good but could have used some more spice. The tandoor paneer was good but apparently tandoori is just not my favorite way to eat paneer. It was a lot of food and very good value. Will definitely order again and try some more of the menu. Ethnic restaurants come in two varieties ... ones that go for mass appeal and turn out the standard Americanized version of their staple dishes, and ones that go for authenticity and a higher-end market. There's nothing wrong with either approach, but Spice Malabar is clearly in the second category. Did a take-out order last Friday; aloo mushroom chettinadu, mysore masala dosa, veggie samosas and nan. All were prepared to perfection and packed with care. This is not your corner curry shop. They go the extra mile. Yes, you can get cheaper Indian cuisine ... but I promise you it won't be nearly as good. One thing ... the level of spice is geared towards a western palate. If you want it truly spicy you may have to be specific or it will be milder than you might expect. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

I had to try out this place because it seemed new when I was visiting the area. From the outside and through google reviews everything seemed great but let me tell you the food is pretty average. I know businesses are struggling with Covid and everything but I'm solely commenting on the quality of food given to us... the food had no salt, we asked for spicy and honestly they just threw jalapeños in our curries which was disappointing because we literally couldn't taste ANYTHING. the starter dish lacked flavor and salt, and both our main courses were pretty bland taste wise except the freakin jalapeño burning my mouth. Don't get me wrong, I'm Indian, I know damn well how spicy Indian food should taste and this wasn't it. Also the place wasn't cheap... Comment to owner/chef: please improve on flavor of food. If people are spending time and money to come here, that's the LEAST we expect. read more

Fantastic food !! We ordered for grilled fish , shrimp pollichathu and goat biryani !! It was heaven for us !! The grilled fish was my favorite. It was healthy and had the same crunchiness and spice that I was hoping for !! Shrimp was amazing too especially the aroma after unfolding the banana leaf was great !! The portion size was not too little and not too much !! For desserts we had kulfi and it was creamy and it reminded me of naturals ice cream back in Bombay !!
