My favorite Thai restaurant in Sarasota! I've gone a number of times and the food has been consistently good. They can get quite packed with patrons for such a small restaurant, but I've always had great and attentive servers. Love that they have a variety of vegetarian options. My go-to is probably the sweet and sour tofu with spring rolls on the side. They have both a lunch and dinner menu to choose from depending on what time you're there. Okay so far my and wife and I have been here I think four times. I like the sashimi and it seems always fresh. The problem here is the service every time. Slow and very unfriendly, never a smile or can I get you anything else. It seems like they can't wait to get you out. The last time we went there and I do mean THE LAST TIME, we got there at 2:46. Closing time advertised on the door is 3:00pm for lunch. We were immediately told "we are closed", confused I said but it says 3:00pm is closing time. To their credit they did let us in (not cheerfully though) because all we wanted was some chicken pot stickers and a glass of wine. Great food but cannot express enough not to order takeout. I waited for 30 minutes past my given pickup time (!!!), as they had my name and said they would bring it to me as soon as it was ready. This gem is nestled in the square of a set of buildings on the Boulevard Of The Arts, with an open courtyard with seating for their restaurant and courtyard wraps around to The Overton. A bright building with plenty of windows and a gorgeous interior, with a mix of tasteful style that hint at Asian restaurant / sushi house and an up cycled touches that give it a modern flair. There is a stunning illuminated golden chandelier piece that is rope stems and golden blossoms that is just a sight to behold! We can here for food, and boy did they deliver! Options ranging from multiple sushi and poke bowls to a range of apps and traditional Thai dishes. For the app we ordered the chicken satay, it was out of this world! The skewers had a decent amount of succulent grilled and seasoned chicken, served with satay dipping sauce and a pickled brine sauce. They served a chicken broth soup with delicate grains of rice and chicken and green onions that was delicious. The main course for lunch I ordered was chicken pad Thai, and I ordered it spicy. Great restaurant. I like that two of the walls are full windows, it is really pretty. Very clean inside and super fresh sushi. Perfect tuna in my tuna/avocado roll. The panang curry was a really good flavor and the veggies were wonderful, the sauce was a bit thin but it was still yummy. We felt like eating Thai, so I looked on Yelp and this place had 4 1/2 stars. It was a 10 minute walk from the hotel and we were pleasantly surprised. On a Monday night the place was packed. When I moved to Sarasota, word was that it was a wealthy town. Hidden wealth, perhaps. Careful, more likely, which is why Spice Station will do so well. Here's the recipe: lowish dish prices, rapid table-turn and make your money on alcohol. Using the minimum protein and maximizing the vegetable content will fulfill the value case and keep everyone happy, because no-one who eats here is in any danger of malnutrition. None of which should take away from the uniformly good quality of the food and preparation. Fresh, clean and with an energy that makes it stand out amongst so many others, we can only hope Spice Station survives the doldrums of between-season. read more

What a nice addition to the Sarasota restaurant scene. We stopped in during a rainy SRQ moment and were impressed. A nice warm welcome with smiling faces and lovely, simple restaurant decor. Good waitstaff. We had Chicken Karaage, a crispy deep fried chicken with a nice remoulade type side sauce; Pot Stickers with a chili type side sauce, Pad Thai, well prepared, good flavor, good ingredients, and Miso Soup. Everything was piping hot, nicely presented. Thai donuts- 5 mini donuts on sticks, plated with with chocolate drizzle and raspberry and lime puddles-to end the lunch! Very busy yet very friendly in the heart of Sarasota's newly developing Rosemary District. I had duck and my friend a lobster roll, after starting with dumplings. The dumplings were well-prepared and moist & the dipping sauce deliciously thick! The lobster (sushi) roll was out of this world with a light tempura batter and two kinds of masago. Spice Station is a "rising star" coming to the area. I went with my family (a party of 7) to try the restaurant- and we were pleasantly surprised. We all agreed that we would come back soon. We ordered the Chicken Karaage for our appetizer, and it was so... so good. It was crunchy, light and the sauce that it came with was very good. Another thing that caught my eye on the menu was the calamari. Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to try it, but judging by the Karaage, I think it would have been very good. The fried shrimp was very good, and it was also very light and crunchy. I, personally, loved the avacado sauce it came with. The drinks were pretty good- I would highly recommend the Thai Iced Tea. It was not to sweet or too bitter. The presentation was very good in all the things they served, both drinks and entrees. However, there were a few dishes sub-par. The Amazing Chicken, and the Pad Thai. The chicken, unlike the Chicken Karaage was dry and soggy at the same time. The breading was heavy and most likely had been sitting out for a while before they served it to us. The Pad Thai was also mediocre. The flavor of fish sauce was just a bit overwhelming- but overall OK. My favorite dish was the pork with basil. I think the basil that they used was Thai basil- very fragrant and delightful. It not only went really well with rice, but it also made it so fragrant and delicious. In conclusion, we really enjoyed our time here and we can't wait to come back soon. This is a new restaurant, and it has so much potential to become possibly the best Asian restaurant in the Sarasota area. read more

Fantastic people and great atmosphere! But the gem is the food. The food is seriously amazing. Not only does the flavor match up well within each dish, the textures are perfectly balanced. It can be very hard to keep textures and flavors from mushing up together, but the chef does it well. Fresh ingredients make for very definitive flavors within each of the dishes we tried. Sushi was fresh and thick! Very good consistency! The sushi roll was to die for. Very good creativity in combining ingredients. For instance, our roll was topped with shredded crab! Insanely good! One of the hardest recipes to get REALLY good and not just good is pad Thai sauce. I'm not kidding when I say this might be the best pad Thai I've ever had. Perfectly balanced between sweet flavors and other flavors. The sauce adhered well to the noodles and wasn't runny at all! I can't wait to visit Florida again and try this place again! read more
