    Rice soup with chicken
    adrey v.

The rice soup was one of the best I've ever had. The broth, the rice, added some chicken.. mmm mm mm! I also had the ginger chicken dish was really good too. Real ginger pieces! It tasted healthier than most ginger chicken dishes I've had in the past. Less junk. Maybe it was because of the ginger pieces.

Owner ... Prawna! Suggested the Salt and Pepper Shrimp and Red Curry Chicken.. spring rolls too.. the best!

Authentic and fast service. Not super expensive either which is always a plus. Will definitely be back. :)

We cruised around Sarasota during lunchtime on Sunday for almost an hour, hungry as hell, but trying to avoid a drive-thru. Absolutely nothing was open! Then, we figured it would be safe to head down Main St. because something was bound to be open. We parked in front of Drunken Poet, because they also claim to have sushi and their open sign was on. They turned us away after we walked in the unlocked door, saying that they open at 5:00pm. So, exhausted in search of something we walked on foot from there and finally found something. Yes, one place- Tropical Thai. The atmosphere here is: think Hawaii Five-O, but Thai Five-O. Like a tropical paradise from the 1970's with Tom Sellek in a button down floral shirt. But, instead of being served delicious fresh Thai food with fresh herbs and vegetables, he is served curry dumped out of a can. Based on the clientele here, they have been coming here since 1968 and the food is still the same. Their sign-out front claimed that they have sushi, which was something that I had been craving for about a month. So it sounded great. But, nope no sushi during lunchtime hours on the weekend. Their Thai menu is limited, expensive, and the items look really boring. You either have the choice of the same old coconut based curry, one of the three standard noodle dishes, or a stir-fry in pretty much all the same sauce. The waitress here is an older woman, that would appear to be the owner due to her lack of tact. You are not asked for a drink order, just order your meal and drink and appetizer at the same time fast because she does not have time for your shit. The steamed dumplings were actually shumai, but were made in-house and had a strange canned flavor to them. I think it was the use of canned mushrooms in the filling mixed with ground pork and pre-frozen small shrimp. Aside from the strange flavor they were a non-deep fried start. The complimentary house salad was a small bit of vegetables covered in coleslaw sauce- thinned sweetened mayo. If you can get past the fact that it is supposed to be a salad and treat it more like coleslaw, then it is not all that bad. The soup however, could not be saved. It tasted just like over chlorinated tap water and that's all. The Thai Iced Tea is only $1.50 here, and is very good, not overly sweet. The Tofu Pad Thai was lacking in peanuts, but was thinned with broth instead of oil, which was fine by me. I should have ordered a side of peanuts and steamed rice to give it more volume and add some peanut flavor. Overall, it was very bland. The Pork Fried Rice looked very strange, the entire dish was a pink-ish light gray color. But, it was heavily salted, so it tasted better than it looked. The free donuts at the end were a nice touch considering the lame $30.00 meal we just endured. There is a slew of excellent Thai restaurants in the Sarasota/Bradenton area, and I would definitely put this a the bottom of the list of places to try.

I love this place , every time I'm craving for really good food this is my place too go ,

There was a short wait to be seated, enough time for us to go back to the courtyard and listen to some live music. I had already checked out the menu and knew what I wanted, which was helpful once we were seated in a somewhat dark dining room. They offer more than seafood, but I wanted seafood. They have a Naked Fish section where they offer a few types of fish with many preparation choices. In the end my wife and I both decided on their less expensive Camp Basket and splurged on both a Clam Chowder and a Camp Salad. The chowder was delicious. The serving size was really not large enough to share but we did, and left me wanting more. The salad was fine. The basket was larger than it first appeared with lots of thin cut fries at the bottom. The several pieces of fried oysters and shrimp were flavorful. The basket also had small bites of okra and a fillet of a lightly breaded white fish. Too much food for my wife, enough to fill me up. My plan to try a dessert faded away. Once we paid we headed back to the courtyard to listen to more music before heading out. A very good meal and a pleasant evening, who could ask for more.

The outdoor Tiki area wrapped around the building and had a fun, relaxed vibe that made a great first impression. Our waitress, Rhonda, was excellent. She was friendly, answered all our questions, and knew the menu inside and out. What We Ordered: * Clam Chowder * Lobster Bisque * Maine Lobster Dinner with Corn on the cob and Coleslaw * Phil's Steamer Pot with half Lobster, Corn on the cob, Potatoes, Andouille Sausage, Clams, and Mussels Food Highlights: The soups came out first, and both were excellent. The Clam Chowder was topped with Bacon and Chives. It was the best we've had since moving to Florida--rich, flavorful, and satisfying. The Lobster Bisque was Creamy and equally delicious, with great flavor and tasty pieces of Bread mixed in. Our entrées arrived quickly, and we loved both dishes. The Lobster was cooked perfectly in both meals, and everything in Phil's Steamer Pot was hot, well-seasoned, and full of flavor. My wife, who is from Maine, said it was the best Lobster she has had in this area. Even the sides--the Corn on the cob and Coleslaw--were very good, and the Beer was served ice cold. One more thing each table featured a fish dip and crackers--an extra touch we really enjoyed. Fish Market and Final Verdict: Before leaving, we stepped inside to look at the Fish Market and were impressed by how fresh everything looked. The selection was large and added even more to the overall experience. This place was a pleasant surprise and delivered across the board with great Service, Food, Drinks, and Atmosphere. It easily ranks among my top 10 places to visit in the Sarasota area, and I can't wait to go back. For me, Walt's Fish Market earns 5 out of 5 stars. Gulf Coast Terry

(Hence the 4 stars vs 3) If you are stopping in for regular lunch or dinner, then I would go in with average expectations. My husband, son, and I popped in for lunch before the beach one day because I was, in fact, dying to try the chowder. It came out piping hot in a cute mug, totally overflowing. I scraped out every morsel. My baby really enjoyed it too! I always feel the need to get fried shrimp at least once on a beach trip, so I got shrimp and french fries. I asked for a side of a type of Ramailo to dip my fries in. It was just an average basket of shrimp and fries. My husband got gator bites and they weren't nearly as good as the ones we get in Ohio, which is saying something since skaters are caught fresh in Florida... The dipping sauce they came with was better than the gator bites themselves. We didn't park because we took the trolley, which dropped us off a few blocks away. Prices were fair for seafood in a vacation town. Our server was kind and attentive.

My initial thought when I made our reservation was to eat and race downtown for the annual pineapple drop, but it was a chilly night so we stayed at the restaurant. It was very busy, perhaps the busiest they have been so far. The staff was definitely up to the challenge and we had great service. I saw no issues anywhere else in the large dining room. It was pretty loud, but it was a roomful of people enjoying themselves, including us. For dinner I went with the Prime part of Ocean Prime with a meal I've considered my favorite meat and potato dish throughout my adult life, French Onion Soup, a NY Strip Steak, and a Loaded Baked Potato. It just doesn't get any better than this. The food was prepared perfectly. The soup was exactly the way I like it, very flavorful with a deep rich broth and melted Swiss cheese. At 14oz there was plenty of steak, cooked medium rare. My wife no longer allows me to order rare steak, that's ok, still a great steak. And with a side of a loaded baked potato and some asparagus with Hollandaise sauce, it was a complete and filling meal. My wife went with the Ocean part of Ocean Prime and loved her Chilean Sea Bass. After one piece we told our server she could take it away and she didn't question why we would get rid of almost the entire app. Go to Hanami if you want sushi rolls. The sea bass had a super stringy texture because it was way overcooked. I eat everything but I didn't finish this. The lobster tails were cooked properly but they forgot to bring the advertised drawn butter out with them. The tator tots were soft, meaning they probably sat in a warming tray until ordered. At least the gouda dipping sauce was pretty good. At the end of the meal someone finally asked if we enjoyed the food. I said no and explained what went wrong. This was met with a shrug. When we left not one of the three people (doing nothing) at the front desk said goodbye or thank you as we passed. Instead, as I held the door for my wife the valet literally pushed past her to get out of the door first. The manager here needs to eat at 131 Main to learn how a good staff interacts with customers.
