This is my new favorite Indian takeout spot in Bakersfield! It's inside a grocery store, which is filled with Indian snacks, frozen foods, cooking essentials, etc. I admit, I have not yet mastered cooking Indian cuisine, so I looked uncertain. I wound up asking the nice gentleman who offered to assist me if they sell cooked food--because it smells amazing in there! I was shown a menu with a wide selection and reasonable prices. I was a basic broad and ordered paneer tikka masala, rice, and butter naan. Everything was hot, plentiful, and ready in 20 minutes. I was already pleased, but then I took a bite--OMIGAWD! I'm a ho for paneer tikka masala, and I can confidently say this has been the best I've tasted yet. I can't wait to make my loved ones try. read more

Food tasted fantastic. I had the chicken tikka masala (I apologize for my basicness) and the garlic naan and it's some of the best I have had in town. The curry was creamy, flavorful, and fragrant. The garlic naan was fragrant as well and tasted delicious with bits of chopped garlic all over it. The customer service could have been better as the lady who helped me was a bit rude. Price was on the higher side as the curry was $16.99 for the portion size. read more

Today was my first time ordering to go Indian food from this place. From the outside it looked just like a store for Indian products, but I heard they have a hot kitchen. I walked in and ordered food at the front and took about 30 minutes to get my food ready to go. I walked around and saw the Indian lady in the kitchen in the back and the flavors smelled great. I could tell the place is well known to the Indian community, but as I'm not Indian, I had no clue. The food was incredible and the value was great. 60 dollars for 3 main entrees, Naan bread, basmati rice and I got a Mango Lassi. I think it is top notch Indian at a very affordable place. Great place to get products from India. I was able to find the chai tea my wife likes here. The butter chicken was good. It had a good amount of spice and flavor. Though I wish there was a little more chicken meat. Garlic naan was great. It had good amount of garlic and was pretty cheap. We love Indian food and have tried literally every restaurant in town, along with having had fresh homemade Indian food from friends, and this beats them all! It is truly the best, most delicious, authentic Indian food around! We stumbled across this small grocery store and restaurant behind Sam's club on Gosford and harris several years ago, and have been ordering food regularly from them ever since. The staff are always friendly, and the food is high quality, hot and fresh, with good portions and prices. Some of our favorites are the chicken or paneer Tikka masala, butter chicken, curry chicken, vegetable or chicken biryani, samosas, garlic, cheese or butter naan, and the cakes and sweets from the bakery counter are all outstanding. You can call your order in and pick it up, or stop in and they will cook it fresh while you wait for around 15-20 min. We won't go anywhere else for Indian food and recommend it highly! This grocery store serves by far the BEST and MOST tastiest Indian food in all of Bakersfield and beyond. The style of cooking is very traditional and not so much white washed like most Indian restaurants try to be. The workers are also very attentive and nice. Especially the cooks in the back of the grocery where the restaurant is are very nice ppl. Literally everything here tastes good my personal faves are the butter chicken and the aloo tikis but just everything tastes good. I personally see myself eating here at least 2x/month and when I go I don't just eat myself. I eat with my entire family and with friends. So far everyone I recommended this place to also said good things about them. Just order your food by phone. Takes about 30-45 minutes for food to be completed and BOOOM ENJOY !!!!! read more

Found a maggot or a worm in our basmati rice after eating it at home! The only reason I didn't give it 1 star is because the Butter chicken was good & decent price. Stopped in here looking for some coffee from Yemen for a buddy of mine. As I walk in, I am not even 5 steps in the door and I am being offered help. Super warm welcoming. I inquire about the coffee and they tell me that they do not carry what I am looking for. Hey. It happens. Not everywhere is gonna have what you need. I inquire about some mint because I was making some Kofta that night and knew I could get mint at Walmart but wanted to see if they had it. They went to the back to see what they had. While He was in the back looking, I had an amazing conversation with another gentleman that work there. I was in uniform (Air Force) and he thanked me for what I did. It was super humbling and solidified the reason I do what I do As they were looking, I got to wander around the store and I have to say, I can't wait to go back. This place is a hidden gem. They seem to have everything you could want to make Indian food. I love to expand my boundaries on my cooking abilities and will be back to see fully what this store has to offer. They were super nice and priced well. If you are looking for anything when it comes to this style of cooking, stop in here. Amazing store. Even more amazing people. Food is just okay. Cheese chili is not good. Every time the dishes tastes different. Doesn't matter what spice level you order. They do what pleases them. So, I don't understand what's the point of asking for spice level. And, it's pricey for the quality of food. Do not recommend. read more

I tried a new place today that has only been open about a year. I was impressed with how neatly everything was on the shelves. The floors are clean and they have a nice selection. The man working there was friendly and knowledgeable. He steered me to the tastier paneer, and answered all my questions. They even have bags of whole spices which are a mixture for Garam Masala to take home and grind as you need it. I've never seen that before, but I'm no expert. The food here is AMAZING. It's the best Indian food we've had in a long time (better than any Indian food we had when we lived in LA).
