My go-to Indian restaurant is Haveli! The food, the service, everything is 100% on point!

So good! Stopped in and ordered to go on my lunch break. Ordered the chicken tikka masala bowl and cheesey garlic naan. Had to take a quick pic before I inhaled it. I ordered it medium because I had to go back to work but next time I'll have to get it spicy. So delicious. Should've ordered a chai to go with it. Staff was friendly and the food got out to me fast. Excellent, will be coming again. I wanna try the lamb next.

I've been eating at Haveli Indian Grill on Buena Vista for a few months now, and I just have to share how amazing their food is there. Owned by a local indian family. The butter chicken is very fricken delicious , their garlic naan is excellent. And their tandoori chicken sizzles from a sizzling plate, full of flavor and grilled to perfection! There aren't many Indian places I personally can vouch for, I use to eat and love at Zaika if anyone remembers it. But Haveli takes the icing for me as the best Indian cuisine local to Bakersfield.

I love love love Haveli. My smile goes from ear to ear whenever I ask a friend where they'd wanna have dinner and they say Haveli. I feel safe trying new things here. Indian food is known for heavy seasoning but dang does this place have it down. So savory you just get an insane medley of flavors. So make sure you order the naan! It's the best medium for all the amazing flavor. My friend ordered something off menu, it was this cauliflower dish that visually resembles orange chicken. The spices worked with it so well! I'm not huge on vegetarian food but I could eat this forever! I wish I got the name! I also tried their Lamb Vindaloo cause I was feeling adventurous. Freaking amazing. Soft, tender, fall of the bone! Vindaloo is now my new favorite. I highly recommend it. The gravy is different from the usual western favorites such as tikka masala and butter chicken. It is so worth a try! This place opened my eyes to it and now I order it every time I have Indian food! I heard this place has a great happy hour but I have yet to give it a shot. Hard to pass up a good buzz and delicious food!

    Chai masala

This was my first time trying indian cuisine. I have been considering trying this spot down the street from my house and after being recommended a dish by a coworker I decided to take the leap and I am so glad I did. My coworker boasted of how good masala and naan are, so I ordered those along with a side of rice. I decided to start with a cup of chai masala( I am a tea lover) and it was very delicious. Next the food arrived and the first bite of the chicken tikka masala was a shock to my taste buds and I wasn't sure if I liked it, but after a few more bites I was hooked. I loved dipping the cheese naan in the masala and eating it with the chicken and veggies. The rice with the masala was good too, but the naan was the superior option. Towards the end of my meal I ordered another cup of chai to relax after a large meal and I took plenty home. The servers were friendly and took my order promptly and the food came out in a short amount of time. The interior is nice as well with (I'm assuming) indian music playing at a low volume. Overall a wonderful first experience with indian food and I look forward to returning and trying the lamb masala.

This is my second review on this place as the quality, taste and presentation of the food has gone down and was so disappointing. Pre Covid it was great. Post Covid it was ok. And now, currently is has gotten bad even more. About two or three times before this I had coke to eat during lunch hr and the food tasted and looked different. A simple butter chickens and Gobi Manchurian that I always ordered was no where close to what it had always been. I decided to give it a few more tries as I loved this place and the waitress explain that a new and different cook worked in the mornings and the usual comes for dinner time. This time around I came for dinner hour and again ordered the above plus tandoori chicken. We unfortunately did no even eat the Gobi Manchurian. It looked to artificially red. We were informed the cook accidentally overdid the food coloring. And the taste was more like sweet and sour sauce than Indian spicy. Very disappointing. When they realized we were not satisfied we were informed the cooks had switch schedules for the day.

This is my first time at this establishment for a to go order. I had a big warm welcome from staff, and placed my order of Butter Chicken- spicy. I asked the gal how spicy is their "spicy" because I'm a huge heat fan. Upon tasting, I could definitely go the next level up "Indian spicy" I work right across the street and can definitely tell I will be a returning customer!

Ordered yesterday, the tandoori chicken was terrible. You can see from the pictures that it doesn't even look anywhere near what it should look like. We just threw it out. We have been ordering from this restaurant for many years. Usually very good. Don't know what is happening? We Also order chicken tikka masala and we got a dish that looked like butter chicken. It was also not very good. Probably will not return.

We ordered dinner through DoorDash. We had the veg samosas, garlic naan, butter chicken, mushroom marsala, and veggie biryani. Everything was delicious and really hot the spot. We also ordered three desserts and it wasn't my taste. The kheer rice pudding was decent.

The butter naan was amazing, dripping with rich butter that tasted almost homemade. The shahi paneer was flavorful and paired perfectly with the naan. The drinks were just as good. The mango lassi tasted fresh and natural, without that artificial pulp flavor you sometimes get. The chaas was also refreshing and balanced. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They have an extensive menu, and it took me a while to figure out what to order. To her credit, the cashier took her time explaining the various options available and was patient in answering my menu questions. I ended up ordering one of the lunch combos with chole masala, chicken tikka masala, and naan along with a mango lassi. I'm happy that the employee steered me away from the a la carte menu, because the lunch combo was quite a filling meal. Both the chole and chicken tikka masalas were well-seasoned, and the naan had an excellently flaky texture. The ambience was casual, and I felt welcomed by the cashier (though some of the looks by other diners highlighted how much I differed from the primarily South Asian customers during my lunch). I would definitely revisit during a future Bakersfield stop.

My family doesn't like to try foods that aren't typical American foods. But I do. I was actually on my way to the Poké spot but decided on Indian instead because I hardly ever eat it and I love a good curry. With it being the day after Christmas, I wasn't sure what the crowds would be like. But I was one of 4 tables that were seated at the 12:30 lunch time. The space is open, so voices kind of travel but it isn't bad with so few customers. They play upbeat Indian music but it's nice, maybe you could compare it to jazz. The volume could be lowered just a little. The lighting is dim, and the room is cool. You could dress up a little and have a date here or come casual. They have a section of the seating area blocked off by curtains, maybe an area to reserve for bigger parties or to open up when its a busy evening. I ordered the Aloo Tikki Chat (Spiced potato patties fried and served with chickpeas) and the Chicken Makhani (Clay oven-baked boneless chicken cooked in rich tomato butter cream sauce) both with medium spice level. The Aloo Tikki Chat was so good! The chickpeas were nice and soft. Great flavors all around. It's like a party in my mouth! It is an appetizer and its a good size. Definitely can be shared with several people. The spice level is just right for me. The Chicken Makhani is a lot more mild with the flavor palate. A nice smooth tomato based sauce. I don't pick up the spicy heat with it at all, which is fine. The chicken. Is nicely cooked as well. This would be a good starter meal for someone new to Indian food. Overall, I give Viceroy Indian Cuisine a thumbs up!

Like I said, we never had Indian food so our server helped us pick an appetizer which was the Chicken 65. It was amazing! It was flavorful and the chicken was so tender. For the entrees, I got a medium spice Lamb Tikka Masala and Mild spice Chicken Makhani with garlic naan. It came with a bowl of rice and wow! They both were so creamy and had their own unique flavors. I recommend those two , especially the chicken makhani. Medium spice does have a kick to it, so if you don't like spice I suggest mild. Overall, 10/10!

Like Opening a Bag of Doritos... and It's Mostly Air…read more I've been wanting to try this place for a long time. Yesterday was finally the day... and unfortunately, it felt like opening a bag of Doritos and finding it 90% air and 10% chips. Technically there's something there -- just not what you hoped for. We walked in and the place was completely empty. Not "quiet lunch rush" empty. More like "did we miss a memo?" empty. There's a pool table and a fish tank, which I'll politely leave alone since they have nothing to do with the food... but they definitely added to the mysterious vibe. The woman who took our order seemed less than thrilled we existed, so I actually asked if they were closing soon. Nope -- still had a couple hours left. Okay then! We ordered two dishes. Only one came out. No check-ins, no "How is everything?", just radio silence. We ended up sharing the one plate (which was okay -- not amazing, not terrible, just okay). At the end, I mentioned I never received my order. She did refund me right away, which I appreciated, and then returned to what I can only describe as hibernation mode. As we were leaving, she came out and apologized, saying something had happened that morning and her mind was elsewhere. I do appreciate the apology -- I genuinely do. We all have off days. Still, the overall experience just didn't sit right with me. It's too bad, because I was curious to come back and try their pizza. But at this point... I guess that will remain one of life's little mysteries.
