I was blown away by the variety of food on their menu, the beautiful desserts in the refrigerator case, and all the flavors of ice cream in the front display. I was visiting town, but if I lived here, I'd be trying out so many of their offerings. The staff was so accommodating of our party of three adults and two children, including bringing out a plate of plain buttery noodles when the not-spicy dish we ordered for a kiddo ended up being too spicy (but it wasn't!). I loved the comfy booth seating and the attentive refilling of waters as I devoured my intentionally spicy meal. Because we had 5 people, we ordered lots of things, and they were all delicious. Well, I would've loved to have eaten here. But that's the issue. The girl behind the counter never turned around to greet me. So I grabbed the menu and I started flipping through it trying to see what I would want to order and other people at the tables were looking at me, but nobody ever said welcome or hi or anything. I looked around a little longer at the stuff in the refrigerators and thought that the restaurant set up was just strange so I thought maybe I'm supposed to seat myself but I didn't see any signs that said that. So I kept waiting behind the counter, and the lady still had her back facing me even though somebody talked to her, you would think that the person that spoke to her would tell her that I was a customer or maybe the person that talked to her would've greeted me hello or acknowledged that I was a customer. It was just weird. So I put the menu back and I left. I DID notice that there was a notification bell whenever the door opens and closes. So the problem wasn't that they didn't hear me walk in. I think because I am not Indian. They didn't wanna talk to me. I mean, I didn't look like anyone in there. And I do have tattoos all over. Maybe it's just not for regular people to eat there unless you are their culture. (This has happened before in LV) It was definitely the same vibe. I absolutely love Indian food and I live off of Panama and Panama definitely has the most concentrated amount of Indian restaurants and Indian people. This Chat Corner serves North and South Indian dishes as well as Indochinese! Pictured is the Szechuan Doosa, Chicken Biryani, Tandoori Chicken, and Masala Fries. Finally, the masala fries had a crispy outside and pillowy soft inside. The seasoning gives them a bit of a kick. I ordered my food to go. It was my first time here so I hardly noticed any wait time because I was too busy taking a look at the ice cream. Kwality Ice Cream is THE spot for unique ice cream flavors in Bakersfield. I usually make my way to LA if I want to find rose petal flavored ice cream, but I've finally found a spot in town that serves a hefty scoop of it! Some other flavors that stood out to me are guava, black currant, lychee, and chikoo. I almost forgot to take a pic of my ice cream, so there it is after a few bites lol. We ate here yesterday for the first time with a friend and it was a lovely time! The vibes were good and the food was delicious! We ordered the Dahi Puri, Paneer Momo, Noodle Burger, and Vegetarian Manchurian. The Dahi Puri is a good choice is you want something light and love the yogurt flavors. The Momo was also very refreshing with nice herbs inside, and it comes with a sauce for extra flavor. We all loved the Vegetarian Manchurian and will get that again! What surprised me the most was the crispiness of the fries and the flavor of the ranch. The ranch is next level good. The highest tier rating you can give, I would give to this ranch. We had a great time at the restaurant. It was nice to have a chopped corner that served a variety of different food. We had the fish Pecora, which my kids loved and ate very fast. Ordered the Hakka noodles for my daughter. It was such even though we had requested mild so the adults ate it. The aloo matter (potato peas) grilled sandwich was delicious. I was really really hoping they were good since I LOVE Indian food and ice cream. Their food was pretty mediocre - not super flavorful and tasted a bit watered down. Their ice cream was sooooo old and it was covered in ice crystals. I still ordered a large because I have been dying to try this place and I really wanted to at least like their ice cream, and boy I was so disappointed they didn't bother to scrape off the top layer with ice crystals and dried up top layer, so it was full of crunchy ice chunks and chewy dried up ice cream. All three flavors were completely abused, and even the portion was small. I have to say their ice cream tasted like coffee creamer more so than dairy. I typically always give two tries before making up my mind, but I am probably never returning. read more

Finally a pure veggie kwality Indian restaurant in Bakersfield!! India food is wayyyyyyyy more than just tandoori and butter chicken and am really glad this place opened up in Bakersfield. I do not have to drive to Los Angeles anymore to get my chaat and idlis and faloodas and indo-chinese food. We have tried almost everything on the menu. They have a wide variety of veggie food, mostly street food: chaats (dahi puri, dahi bhalla), mumbai style street food (wada paav, misal pav, sandwich, frankie) south indian (idli, dosa) , north indian (chole bhature, chana puri, shahi paneer) and indo-chinese (veg manchurian, hakka noodles, momos), and deserts (faloodas, indian flavor ice creams). Safe to say the waitresses there are not friendly or helpful at all. I was just trying to support local businesses but with that kind of customer service wait time for food to get served, I wouldn't recommend you unless you got more than 3 hrs of your time and okay with the waitresses giving you attitudes.
