This was our first time trying Curry in a Hurry, and overall it was good for a Bakersfield establishment.if you have time read this review, do so before you go pay a visit. We started with the mini samosas which came with a sweet sauce, these are very good and it was for two for me two for the lady. 4/5 stars My wife ordered the butter chicken and the curry chicken with vegetables and rice, ans Naan. The flavor of the butter chicken was good, but with the amount of sauce they give you, there was maybe 2 ounces of chicken in the entire dish -- and I'm probably being generous. It honestly felt more like butter chicken soup than butter chicken,my wife liked it alot.. 3/5 stars for portion 5/5 stars for taste . [ ] My wife enjoyed her rice with vegetables and each plate came with a naan serving and we both gave them they tasted fresh they had garlic sauce that complimented the meal.5/5 stars That said, I've had much better butter chicken and curry chicken in Los Angeles, New York, London and Switzerland for the same money or less and with larger portions of chicken. I thought my rice would be dry,(and I was right) I ordered an extra side of butter chicken sauce for it. The seasoning on this chicken was carefully crafted by the chef to let each spice stand out without overpowering the others. It was genuinely outstanding, great actually. In fact, it was so good that I came back on another day just to order it again to make sure it wasn't a fluke. It wasn't. It was just as good the second time. 5/5 stars just differently amazing. My wife wants to come back, and honestly I was pretty against the idea after the first visit. Still, based on that BBQ chicken alone, I'm willing to give them another full try. Perfect name for their business, it's a great spot to grab your meal and take home or to eat on the go, even though there are a few spots to eat inside. The dishes are delicious, the establishment is always clean, there are just enough options to not overwhelm you, which means the items they do have, they're able to focus on and perfect. The best part is, the staff is always nice, helpful, and friendly. I ordered on DoorDash but was told by the owner to order from their website to get the better prices. That was very nice of him. The store is close to where I work so I decided to try it out. The food is delicious! I got the peanut chicken and butter curry chicken. Both were amazing. The garlic Naan is perfect with the meal. As an Indian food lover this place is ideal. When I walked in I was provided with the perfect description-think of it like a chipotle for Indian food! That's exactly what it is. Your base is standard rice veggie and naan and then you have options of 8 varieties for mains from curries to bbq chicken. The 3 chicken dishes in sauce are not the best or most authentic. They are all very bland, almost sweet, and the chicken has a texture unlike any Indian food I've ever had. I enjoyed the rice, veggies, naan, and mini samosas (but they aren't as good as regular sized samosas). Their portions are very small for the price you pay. The woman who took my order was very helpful in explaining their menu. I was able to sample the items that I was interested in before placing my order. I decided on the butter chicken. It was very mild, but they offer a side of chili oil if you want to add some spice to it. Warning: it is VERY spicy, so a little goes a long way. Tried Curry in a Hurry for the first time this week and it was sooo good, we will definitely be back! I had a plate with Tikka Masala Chicken and Curry Chicken, while my husband had Butter Chicken and Tikka Masala Chicken. All three were amazing. The customer service was excellent. The woman helping us offered us samples and also chili oil. The food was not spicy at all in our opinion, but loved that we could add chili oil if we desired. The naan was huge! Curry in a Hurry is pretty great! I really like the concept of having a fast choice for this sort of grub. The naan is fantastic and they cook it to order on this cool circular machine. It's so very steamy, hot and yummy. They have these little baby samosas, chicken and veg., they aren't homemade, but still pretty good. The butter chicken is really good. I love that they have Stubborn Soda in 4 flavors, it's one of my faves. They have limited seating, but it's easy to take away too! I love the signage on the parking outside and the patio seating is pretty nice, as soon as it cools down a bit, I'm sure it will be getting some use. I will definitely be back. read more

My daughter and I went for an early dinner. It has a cute small dining area with some outside seating. We were warmly greeted and they explained the menu. As a vegan, I was happy that the naan could be made without butter. I had the potato and cauliflower with rice and vegetables. My daughter had butter chicken with rice and vegetables. They also give out tastings of their food before you put your foot down for yours! We ended up deciding on two entrees and a side. We got garlic naan, butter chicken, and the fried paneer. The garlic naan could have been cooked a little more and the flavor was lacking. It needed more garlic to make it actually taste like a garlic naan. Friday night rolls around and the wife and I are running errands after work , so that means we need to find a spot to eat! I love indian/punjabi food. Spice and spicy food is delicious! We have been to a few Indian restaurants in town, and even a few trucks. Curry in a Hurry is near our area and we decided to give it a whirl. It is located in the same area as mimosa cafe, shermin williams and lengthwise. Plenty of parking. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by Brigh and Arvin (the owner). Like others have mentioned it is definitely a chipotle/victors/panda style. You pick the Portion you want : bowl, 2 item plate or 3 item plate. Each one automatically comes with rice and your choice of garlic or butter Naan. If you are new to indian food and are not sure what to try the employees will guide you and you can also sample any of the items. They had several dishes to choose from(see photos) . Every item was there minus the BBQ chicken, as that was still cooking and it takes a bit longer. I went with the Panang chicken curry and the beef and peas. I was in the mood for a lentil dish and they don't have one but suggested the garbanzo beans. They were so good I got a side of them to dip my Naan in. I did mention to the Brigh that I love spice and she did state the food is milder to accommodate the majority of customers BUT they have chili oil for you to add and spice it up. My wife got the Cauliflower and potatoes, butter chicken and Tikka Masala. My favorite was a Tie between the panang curry , the peanut butter sauce and chicken/veggies were great! Second favorite was the butter chicken. Very tender chunks of meat, nice hint of sweet and I added the chili sauce to it. Bomb! Beef and peas were good, but not as great as the other dishes. The wifey's favorites were the butter chicken and garbanzo beans. Speaking with Arvin the owner, he let me know that all of the items and sauces are made in house. The fact that they were able to do that, mainstream it to be quick, and still taste good is impressive! Price point was pretty cheap. It was only 30$. Scoreeee! This is a very easy, affordable and good option when we are busy or want to eat out. Plus i still think it's pretty healthy. Rice and chicken. Carbs and protein! Please keep in mind this is not going to be 100% authentic. I don't go to taco bell expecting tacos like the ones in mexico, or go to panda for authentic chinese. read more

Ideal lunch spot with filling bowls and plates of Indian food! I order online for pick up and my food was ready when I arrived and the staff was friendly giving me extra chili and plastic wear. When I got my order home I tried my bowl of butter chicken. The veggies, sauce, and rice were all great and filling. The garlic naan is pretty moist but covered in garlic and butter so that's a huge plus! Garlic lovers will be thrilled. My only issue was that the chicken itself was strange. The bites of chicken were rough? Not sure how to explain it but it felt crispy under the sauce and was not the chicken texture you'd expect or want in an Indian dish. I'll try this place again though and hope it was just a weird one time thing. I didn't finish the chicken because to me the texture made it inedible. read more

I've been meaning to try this place for awhile because it's a few doors down from my work and I was so pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is immaculate and clean, even the restrooms. The woman who greeted me was so friendly and informative. Very nice woman. The food is amazing, the samosas were crispy on the outside and soft inside and the sauce was really fresh tasting. Garlic naan made right in front if me to order (I got extra). All 4 curry dishes were excellent. Next time I will order with a bit more spice since you can customize your spice levels. Even mild it was really flavorful and very saucy which I love because gotta have that extra that to dip the naan in! Overall it was a great choice for a quick affordable take out lunch. The only sort of bummer was the owner just standing there in the back of the restaurant fiddling with something and occasionally looking up at us while his mother waited on us, asked us how we found out about the place, and made sure we had what we needed. She said she was there to help him. We were the only people in the restaurant for about 30 mins. But, his mother was delightful, he is blessed to have her! Dropped in for lunch last week and got a plate so I could try a few different things. The staff is beyond friendly and they are great at explaining the concept. The food isn't traditional Indian it's Americanized and it's less intense on heat but they give you chili oil if you want to spice your food up a bit. I tried the fried cheese masala and the chicken curry. Food came up quick and the masala was made fresh so that's a definite plus. The flavor is really good and the chili oil adds a nice kick to the food I think it's a great compliment. If I have one criticism it's the portion size is a little on the small side. I had maybe 4 pieces of fried cheese in the masala and the chicken curry had a few small pieces of chicken, there was a lot more onion slices in the curry than there was chicken. The rice is good and I really enjoyed the garlic naan. Up that portion size a bit and it would be a true home run for me. I'm sure I'll be back again because the flavor is definitely there and I'd recommend trying it out if you haven't already. read more

Haven't really eaten a lot of Indian food in my life, my wife and I wanted to try this place for a while now. The lady who helped us who very nice and extremely helpful explaining what everything was. You can even get a sample. My wife and I got the bowls, she got the Chicken Tiki Masala and I got the Panang chicken, both excellent, with a ton of flavor. Don't get me started on the garlic naan bread, sooo good.
