We decided to try this place for dinner and were very pleased with the food, service, and atmosphere. First it was very clean and modern looking. We ordered crab Rangoon as an appetizer & we both had hot & sour soup which was well balanced with excellent flavor. My hussband ordered General Tso's shrimp with fried rice. There were lots of shrimp, well prepared, & nicely seasoned. I ordered Curry chicken & jumbo shrimp clay pot & brown rice. It was delicious, but when I took the lid off, it was bubbling! It took several minutes for it to cool enough to eat. My only suggestion is to remove some of the dishes before serving the entree. Perhaps our server was inexperienced, but he expected us to stack dishes so there was room for entree. Food wAs ddeliciouus & atmosphere was very nice so we will be back. read more

My parents wanted to go here so my husband and I treated them. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The food was just okay. That's why I give this place 3 stars. Typical Chinese food so nothing to rave about. The prices were very reasonable so if you want decent Chinese food for a good price, I would come here. The food was piping hot when we received it, which was fine, but we just had to wait a bit before eating. I got orange chicken with fried rice. It had a lot of flavor and was saucy, which was great. I tried everyone else's food and theirs was okay. They got seafood platters, either fish or shrimp or a combo of both. read more

Had it just again tonight 9/18 and it was excellent! Even thanmed the chef as we were walking out! This place is the bomb! We have dined in twice and just tonight got delivery which was just as tasty! This is hands down the best Chinese cuisine in this area. Would 100% recommend. Garlic edamame is a must for appetizer! Great restaurant here in Deer Park - ordered delivery through their website - fast transaction and very fast delivery even on a Saturday evening. All the food was excellent, everything from the Singapore Spicy Noodles to the Triple Delight on Sizzling Platter. Egg rolls were excellent and the Spring rolls were fresh and delicious. Food was delivered hot with excellent sized portions for left overs tomorrow. I will definitely be visiting this restaurant again in person and delivery. A friend recommended this to me. And she did not disappoint. That was a damn good meal. Flavored very well, and oddly now I feel like everyone else is bland. The ambiance is nice modern feel to it. The staff was all friendly. But I must say Pablo was a fantastic server. And I don't ever say that about servers at other places. But he was on point with every detail even addressing me by my name off of credit card and automatically bringing me a cup for my sauce to go without me having to ask. Blew my expectations away! Wow! If you are tired of generic orange chicken and jade decor, you need to try Spicy Chen! The staff is professional and courteous and the owner is oriented to customer satisfaction. You can tell he takes pride in his business. The interior looks like an upscale modem steakhouse; not what I was expecting. Aesthetics aside, the variety of dishes is wide. From classic Chinese American like General Tsao's chicken to clay pots and a large selection of noodles, you will definitely find something you know you like and something new to try. I ordered the spicy shrimp noodle soup. IT WAS HUGE....Think; extra large bowl of pho. The shrimp were tiny but plentiful. They do have jumbo shrimp on the menu though. Ok....I want to start by saying I don't normally take the time to write a review, but on the rare occasion that I'm impressed by world-class service I try to make it known for the benefit of the service provider. Tonight was the second time we had dinner from Spicy Chen Asian Bistro on Spencer Hwy in Pasadena. The first time we had dinner at the restaurant, which was very clean and organized (new), the server was extremely helpful through our numerous menu questions, and she was simply delightful. At the tail-end of our dinner the owner stopped by the table to introduce himself, make sure we knew he was available and appreciative of any feedback we felt compelled to offer, and he thanked us for our business. That first night, as appealing as the restaurant and service was, the food just wasn't that impressive. My wife and I were both consistent in this opinion. We had read many great reviews, and our expectations were high, and we felt a little deflated afterwards. It was noticeably a very busy night, and I've come to accept (and hope) that they were simply having an off night. The food was alright, but didn't blow me away. Well tonight we in the mood for Chinese food again and decided to give them another try because we were not wanting to go out, and Spicy Chen delivers......and they do so fairly promptly. I'm so glad that we did give them another try because the food tonight was outstanding. I had the spicy garlic shredded pork and my wife had the sweet & sour chicken. We also each had an egg-roll and shared a combination fried rice......I know - we were hungry, and now still have lunch for tomorrow. I planned it that way. The food was just great, and my wife thought the egg roll was one of the best she's had.....I have to agree. With regard to the world-class service....they delivered on this once again. There was a slight error in the delivered order and they forgot to send the sweet & sour sauce for my wife's meal, She called the restaurant to get this situation rectified not knowing what to expect. How many people actually call and expect to have a second delivery trip to rectify a forgotten sauce, but as you can imagine it was an important part of her meal. The lady that answered the phone was polite, and was not condescending in any way. She asked my wife to please hold, as the owner would wish to address the situation directly. He was very gracious, apologetic, and polite. He offered to have the driver return with the forgotten condiment and offered to send a free soup. He went above and beyond to deliver satisfaction to his customers, and we will certainly continue to show our patronage to this fine establishment. In a day and age when good service often seems like a challenge to find, we've found it in abundance right here at the Spicy Chen Asian Bistro on the corner of Spencer and Center Streets. One of my favorite places to eat broccoli and beef along with steamed pork dumplings. They have the freshest vegetables it seems. They don't cook the vegetables to look or taste limp... they are just right. The house fried rice is one of my favorites as well. If you ha e not been here and you try it, I don't feel you would be disappointed with any items off the menu. The restaurant is very clean the staff are very nice and polite as well. Finally a good Chinese food restaurant in the area. Their dishes are consistently very good. I really like the Chicken and Eggplant in garlic sauce. Their Hot & Sour soup and Seafood soup are very good also and they have tasty Pork Fried Rice. I get takeout from this place about once a week and each time it's been really good food. read more

Hands down the BEST Asian food in Pasadena. I love Asian food and have tried every local spot. Spicy Chen's is the cleanest, friendliest, and highest quality food in the area. My coworkers and I order to go food from here frequently and I visit the restaurant in person to eat at least one a month. The general tso's chicken is amazing along with the wonton soup. The egg rolls are also crisp and fresh. The fried rice isn't super flavorful but it's never dry or crunchy. I've also ordered their shrimp lo mein and variations of their chow mein, I would recommend both. I was also taken back by how good their sweet tea is. Don't let this small location fool you, Spicy Chen is much bigger on the inside. It's not just the space, but the decor and ambiance is amazing. Great service and friendly staff. Most Asian places give you too much food for a lunch special, but not Spicy Chen. They gave us perfect lunch portions. Minor downside for my brother is that they only have one type of curry. Spicy Chen Asian Bistro is still wonderful. We're definitely coming back. read more

Absolutely worth a try! Since this place opened I've had a chance to try several dishes. Everything I've tried so far has not disappointed. Food portions are perfect and prices are just. The service is fast and friendly. Along with all of that, I had a chance to speak to the owner. The owner refuses to have people waiting even during their busiest moments. We love this place! Food is always fresh and delivery is FAST! We went in for the first time to eat and could not believe how fast the food came out. My favorite is the veggie fried rice and chicken dumplings, try then pan fried! So good! I could eat them everyday. Spring rolls are good as well. Cheese puffs are okay and I do not like the egg rolls. Only because Im not a huge fan of ginger. They do come out hot and crispy though. Mu husband usually gets the redfish platter with shrimp fried rice and he loves it. This time he tried the seafood soup and was not as pleased. It was quite smelly and he said the noodles were slimy. BUT, you could live it! We love everything we've tried from there. Lo mein is good, although it does have a burnt taste to me personally. My kids and husband enjoy them. There is a faint scent of cleaner in the air, but I guess I'd prefer that to stink. read more

We eat here occasionally. I am not sure why we don't eat here more often. The food is a cut above your usual Chinese place. The atmosphere is nice. The wait staff is great. First of all, this company falsely advertises. The menu I received in the mail says Free Delivery (Min. 15$, Tipping is appreciated). It doesn't say anything about being within a five mile radius. Secondly, I happen to live in the same zip code and my maps says that I'm four miles away. However, they tried to tell me that I was five point something miles away and my minimum order would have to be $30.00. I will continue to order from Yo Yo's in La Porte who is actually in a different zip code, further away, and still cheaper with the extra gas money fee. read more

To start i want to say when ordering delivery some things will be different than if you eat in house at the restaurant. I ordered my food online for delivery. the ordering process was easy and quick. the online menu had many options and it was easy to customize my order. i ordered the orange chicken and lo mein noodles. both tasted great and looked very good. because it was delivery the food had been put into to-go containers while super hot! this does cause the sauce to water down a little. but i will not take away stars because of this. as it is to be expected when you order hot food. The lo mein noodles were very good but sadly due to delivery the food was super hot in the container which kept cooking the noodles and they became soggy. but the flavor was great!. again taking a star away wouldn't be fair. my food arrived hot and that is 9/10th of the battle when ordering delivery! from my order placement to it arriving it only took about 30 mins. i will be ordering again in the future. read more

A while back ago I gave this place all the love. I do still maintain that their food is very good however there is a man there that is one of the managers that should not be! Me and my family and my friends family ate dinner there on Christmas day yesterday. My friend was sharing fried rice with one of her sons when they discovered there was hair in it. That in and of itself is inexcusable! The manager was summoned and he came over and asked if they wanted a replacement. First of all that should go without saying! After dinner was over and they were bringing everybody's bills it was discovered that they were still charged for that particular food item. The manager was summoned again and he stated yes we charged you because we replaced it. Seriously!? Yes they did replace it however I cannot believe that a restaurant would still then charge the customer for that food item! We all expressed our disgust at this and finally the manager asked do you want me to take it off? Um you think?! Anyway at the end of it all the item was removed from their bill but we should not have had to ask for that to happen! A good restaurant and a good restaurant manager would've done it automatically to stay in good standing with its patrons.I must admit I really do like their food and I am torn as to whether I ever want to dine in there again... read more

We had to throw away both these dishes. Crab Rangoon was bad too.. Only edible items were kungpao chicken and hot and sour soup.
