A single canned black, unsweetened coffee can. Unique in taste, perfect bitterness.
    David F.

Honest review here, My wife went here to grab some coffee, and she brought me back a can of their brand. She got me the Pothead coffee cold brew can, a black, unsweetened taste to try. Now, I make my own coffee at home, and I love coffee. I enjoyed the canned coffee needless to say because other canned coffee tends to have a nitrogen aftertaste which is distasteful. However this canned coffee did not have that which made it enjoyable. I enjoy having sugar and cream in my coffee, but having this black unsweetened brand was actually pretty good! I can't wait to try out more of their brands and actually experience their service and see what kind of ambiance and vibe the location feels.

Fabulous corner coffee house, beautifully decorated, airy with high ceilings, fab seating, clean with good customer service. They have a bagel with a Mexican corn spread, so good! I also tried their banana chocolate loaf, also good. My daughter ordered an iced matcha and a brown sugar latte, I believe; also very good. I would definitely return!

A local chain coffee shop is now the primary tenant in the historic Dunaway building on this PB street corner. Spill The Beans has aggressively expanded after their OG location debuted several years ago in the Gaslamp Quarter. Parking was metered curbside, or you could use a paid surface lot next to the building. Indoor seating was limited to countertops and a few small tables. The better choice was to use the outside tables on the sidewalk. A menu sheet was posted on a stand just inside the entrance. Coffee, tea, bagels, sandos, and bowls were the categories. Some baked goods and prepackaged beverages were in a display case to the left of the service counter. The Thighmaster Sando was my selection. Egg whites, arugula, tomato, red chili, and garlic cream cheese were the ingredients on a bagel of choice (Sundried Tomato & Cheese was my pick) or a brioche bun. The order was placed inside a takeout bag within 10 minutes. In hindsight, I should have picked a brioche bun or a plain bagel. There was zestiness from the garlic cream cheese and spiciness from the red chili. The sundried tomato and cheese made the sando an overload of flavor. I'm not sure why it cost $12 without a protein included as egg whites don't cost that much. If I did want a protein, another four dollars would have been charged. I gave a 3.5 star rating for my visit to Spill The Beans.

One of my favorite coffee shops! I always get an Iced vanilla latte and it's great! The bagels are also outstanding. It's the place I always recommend to friends when they need a good bagel place. The aesthetic and colors are unmatched. It's a cool dark interior with the signature blue. There's outlets and it's the perfect place to get some work done. The baristas are great too. They always go out of their way to bring my drink and food right to wherever I'm sitting.

Came here on our way back up North and overall great experience. The coffee was yummy, the staff were friendly, and the environment was calm and a vibe.

I would say this place is a solid 3.9. It's a cute shop. The coffee was good, solid espresso, I got the one with honey and cinnamon. The service was very quick. Parking is street parking. It's pretty spacious, so if you want to do homework here you can.

Sun-dried tomatoes and Cheese Bagel with Shallot and Chive Cream

Happened to be in the area and stumbled across this coffee+bagel place. I ordered the Sun-dried Tomatoes and Cheese bagel with shallot and chive cream and it was absolutely delightful and on par with today's bagel pricing. I also ordered the OTP cold-brew drink, but it was kind of watered down and I personally would not recommend it. I did see a lot of people picking up iced latte drinks with different drizzles so maybe I might have to try them next time. Overall, service was a breeze and the shop had a good amount of window seating both inside and outside. Also for those looking to study, outlets are limited but they do have free WiFi!

Finally a good bagel spot in PB! Tried the McLovin and it was filling and really hit the spot. Recommend getting cream cheese on it :)

Plain bagel with caramelized shallot and chive cream cheese and a basic sitch iced coffee

I've wanted to try Spill The Beans for a while and was excited that they opened a location on Garnet. I loved how many different cream cheese flavors there were to choose from and they don't skimp on the amount!! The caramelized shallot and chive was oniony and savory, but the red chili and garlic is the way to go if you like spicy things. It had a bit of a kick to it! Beware that if you go later in the morning they run out of bagel flavors and it gets pretty limited.

    Respectable amount of Schmear !
    Stephanie L.

Respectable amount of schmear! and many vegan options. Decided to try this place out when my boyfriend's brother came to visit and all three of us thoroughly enjoyed our bagels and coffees. The breakfast sandwiches looked phenomenal and were stuffed! The cappuccino was outstanding, probably the best I've had in San Diego. While my visit was nearly perfect, almost every employee was on their phone at one point, which is always a little offsetting for me at any setting in the food industry, however the overall experience made up for it. Spill the Beans offers high quality food that doesn't skimp on portions at an easily affordable price. This place is definitely worth checking out!

I've been meaning to try their coffee for years, but just never made it to any of their original locations. I love this new location in PB. It was easy enough to find parking (at least for PB standards), and ordering time was quick too. They seem to have a constant flow but never a crazy line which I appreciated. The staff is just nice and laid back, but quick and efficient at the same time. Immaculate vibes really. I loved the amount of different coffee, tea, and just drink options in general, plus their obviously amazing selection of bagels. There really is something for everyone. While we did just come here for coffee, their baked goods were calling our names. My husband and I settled upon their cinnamon coffee cake. Perfectly moist and just the right amount cinnamon in every bite. Didn't even need to be warmed, but it being warm didn't hurt! After ordering our drinks, we may have waited 3 minutes before our drinks were ready. So fast honestly. I had the blondie mocha with Mac nut milk and my husband had the cinna-bee latte. Both were perfectly balanced with just enough syrup flavoring but still being able to actually taste their delicious coffee in every sip. I will say my coffee choice was still sweeter than my husbands, but again not overly so. I'm not sure if I could order anything else in the future because I loved my drink so much. Doesn't seem like you could go wrong with anything on their menu. Also! There is a decent amount of seating inside and plenty of room at the bar tops too. Outdoor seating is available as well!

I recently visited Spill the Beans last weekend on Garnet Ave, and I was really impressed by their bagels. Here's what I ordered: -Iced Basic Sitch: A perfectly balanced coffee drink. -Two bagel sandwiches: 1. B.B.L.T.: Crisp bacon with fresh veggies and a garlic aioli twist. 2. San Dieggo: Comfort food at its best with peppered bacon, melty cheddar, and an over-medium egg. The bacon cheddar bagel was exceptional--definitely not your average bagel. The staff was efficient, the space was nice inside out, and the outdoor seating was great to enjoy some delicious breakfast and coffee. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

They also have a breakfast sandwich called the San Diego which is a favorite of several people I know. You chose the bagel you want it with and they add fried eggs, bacon, cheese and aioli. I highly reccomend it. I've not had a lot of their deinis, but i did order the cinna-bee which has honey, cinnamon, espresso and milk. I thought it was good and would order it again. Definitely check them out and try some of their bagels, or perhaps one of their sandwiches.

They have several locations in the SD area, and the one here is pretty small - it's really just a walk-up space but that's fine since it fits the vibe of Seaport Village. The menu contains a variety of beverages as well as some breakfast/lunch sandwiches. The biggest standout for me was their cold brew made with chaga - I totally needed to look that up while waiting in line and learned it was a type of fungus. I wasn't in an adventurous mood, so I went with their standard cold brew with a little almond milk. The beverage was good - nothing too special but just a really good solid coffee. Service was good, and overall I was feeling the vibe of this place. I enjoyed my experience, and wouldn't hesitate to return next time I'm in SD.

My favorite part of the start of a new month is checking their monthly drink and donut specials. This month nothing really called my name but they did have a weekend special that really appealed to me. I have had some of their bagel style sandwiches before and ohhhh goodness they are good. This time it was my favorite style of sandwich, a bahn mi. I had high hopes because of the picture they posted on their social media and just the level of creativity they usually bring. Considering it's North Park, I knew ordering online would be the best option and picking up. My estimated time was 15-20 minutes but it only took them under 10. I got an order ready notification before I even left the house. I got there and it was dead, maybe one other person in and out. There's a lot of seating inside and some outside on their patio. They also have different counters for ordering and pick up which helps speed things up. My experience with service was very transactional, nothing bad just nothing to really highlight. Let's talk about this bahn mi. It's promoted as marinated and charred pork shoulder, house made sweet aioli, nuoc cham compound butter, pickled carrot and daikon, mint, cilantro, and jalapeño on a locally sourced Paris baguette. First off, nuoc cham compound butter?? YES. That is the kind of creativity I love to see. I got my sandwich and the wrapper was pretty oily so the sandwich itself looked kind of glossy. The whole thing felt a little rushed, like everything was just thrown on. I will say I wasn't expecting a generous amount of meat but they delivered in that aspect. I first wanted to try the compound butter on its own and it had a slight nuoc cham flavor, but in the sandwich it didn't really stand out past all the bolder flavors. Now if you've seen my other reviews, the best part of a bahn mi to me is the pickled daikon and carrots. These might be the best I have ever had anywhere. They are exactly how I prefer them, sweet with a slight acidity and THICK CUT. The crunch on these... please let me buy a whole jar. The bread was alright, they mention they source it locally so it's not made in house, but mine leaned a little old and I could tell through the texture. The pork was marinated really well, I do wish some of the pieces were more charred because you could see where some of it didn't hit direct flame. This also came with a side of what tasted like a hoisin vinaigrette. I liked the creativity but felt like the sandwich didn't need it. It was way too acidic and strong and there's not much need for that sharp vinegar hit here. I paired my bahn mi with a miso caramel matcha latte. This was expensive, a 12oz for $8 is steep even for matcha. It was good but not amazing. It leans more sweet than matcha forward. The miso caramel actually surprised me though. At other cafes it usually comes off more like a salted caramel, but here it had more depth, slightly savory, and when mixed with the milk it came out really creamy and smooth. The matcha was a little grainy though. Overall I will definitely be back and will keep my eye out for more specials because that's where they really shine. And seriously, if they ever let me buy those pickled carrots and daikon by the jar, I'm there immediately.
