My hubby and I were originally going to the theater to see Lincoln but the showing was sold out. As we were heading to our car, we saw this music shack and decided to go in. I was filled with joy when I saw that they had rare 180 gram editions of the the Radiohead vinyls that I needed to complete my own collection. I bought four of the six vinyls for $100 and left. That night, I regretted not getting the last two vinyls so we drove back to get it the next day before heading back to Orange County. The owners were very nice and gave me some tips on how to preserve the vinyls. I'm just so happy that I finally have all of the Radiohead vinyls! read more

Tiny used record store. Looks family owned and operated which I love. I want to emphasize used record store before anything else. If this is one of the best place to buy music in Temecula...yikes! The selection is sub-par at best. I couldnt find rare albums or cds of anything I wanted, but more of things I wanted when I was 16 that I could find at Circuit City (remember that place!?) They have a great selection of different types of media. Lots of CDs, cassettes, records, VHS, etc. but as far as a selection of music, I would not say its bad, but I would say it could be vastly improved. They had about ten Guns 'N' Roses albums on CD but only had one A Tribe Called Quest...used. The sections of music are small to almost non-existent. They have a lot of rock and pop and oldies, but not so much metal, hip hop, instrumental, indie, etc. Maybe that has to do with where they are getting their used music from? (Temecula, Murrieta, Elsinore) You know what it reminds me of? A garage sale. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. All newer titles I wanted they did not have, not even anything that actually came out since 2005 and up (except for the usuals that every used record store would have). Of course I could be wrong and they were hidden or someone snatched them all up before I got there. But as I hunted, I found nothing. If I was a young kid or new collector to music this would be a gold mine, but for an experienced and seasoned collector this is a dud. Even old rare records I wanted I couldnt find. It was mostly used items that are outdated that people would give away with a few gems. VHS, DVDs, and a few Blu-Rays line the walls which is cool, but they have seen better days. Like I said, garage sale. All the "good" stuff seems to be behind the counter at a price. Which makes sense. There is a cool little section of posters and photos of celebs/artists/musicians and a few collectibles too. This place has such great potential and if had more business I'm sure would be able to supply more and expand which I hope they do because Temecula needs places like this. I will come back with high hopes and if not buy some stuff anyways to support small businesses like this. Im just glad to see a record store at all these days. read more

Omg this place is a treasure trove of vinyl and movies. I could've spent all day sifting through the stacks and stacks of movies. They're in alphabetical order which is nice and the owner seems to know everything he has in stock so just ask away! Cant wait to go back and see what else I can find. read more

Love this place! Spindles is a fun destination when you have time to browse and hunt for unexpected treasures. The owners are super nice people, who go out of their way to be kind to my disabled son. I like the old-school kinda "hippie vibe." I try to go before schools let out, because after 3pm, it can feel a little bit like a teen hangout. (Not obnoxiously so). It's small, so it doesn't take many people to feel crowded... But I'd say that's part of the charm. I don't go there expecting to find a specific CD, just something nostaglic/new and interesting to listen to, at dirt cheap prices. My son can feel like he went on a DVD & CD shopping spree, and have only spent $20. They don't have every title ever released, but the have an good selection of every genre you can think of. There's not many unique places out there anymore, so I really love that Spindles has stuck around! read more

The selection, is exactly that there own selection. I'm an avid record junkie and was rather appalled when I asked the female owner, "do you have any rat pack albums?" first thing she said is "no we only sell the stuff we know kids will buy." completely understandable to run a business, but as a true lover and collector of music it was a slap in the face. Never try and trade in records they rip you off on the value and half the time they never take them unless it's practically mint condition. The selections good, but some of the prices are outrageous. To e honest Ive gotten better deals from hot topic, and I think I dislike that store even more. However, it's great to browse, the owner knows what he's talking about, and they have great DVDs and gift selections for your retro loving friends. Other than that I'll just stick to ameoba records. read more

This place is totally awesome! The nostalgic feeling you get when you see all the music in there because music is life. I'm going back there for sure to find some music because we still have a CD player in our car and I'll play some CDs when service sucks on our phone during our long drives. Old-school record shop where a real music fan can get lost for hours. But the prices...? CD's are obsolete. People don't buy CD's anymore because it's the only way to acquire music. Music is now free (however much I disagree with this, being a musician). For anyone to buy a cd (this would be audiophiles pretty much exclusively), the threshold between free and paying for music is going to have to be low. $8 for a used CD or $15-20 for a used record is not realistic. The store is bursting at the seams with inventory. Lower the prices to a realistic level and you will see more business. Less profit per item, maybe. But at the end of the day you will sell more volume and see more profit. And not unimportantly, see more customers, infect more people with the CD/vinyl bug and contribute to a cool movement while making a buck in the process. read more

I dig this little vintage shop. You can find old DVDs and records. They play eclectic music every time I'm in there and they seem to let you rummage through what they have with little interruptions. I've picked up a few DVDs that I use for work (I teach) and could imagine it might be fun for DJs that still play vinyl. It's a cute spot to wander into if you have time to kill before or after a movie. read more

Entered because I saw a sign outside posted for dvds 99 cents so my kids and I went in and picked 5 kids dvds and was like great it's going to be 5$ but little did I know that was only a few dvds wrapped in a tiny basket in the front that didn't mean all dvds and when I asked about it I got a response in a rude tone that "no sorry it's only for those in the basket up front!" I ended up spending 30$ on 5 dvds. I think the pricing needs to be looked at because these are used dvds. And most you can get online new for cheaper brand new. read more

I decided to check this spot out. It's been on my list of record stores to visit for awhile. Cool little shop that's filled from wall to wall with DVDs, CDs, And records. I must've spent 45 minutes doing a quick browse because of a limited time frame I was on during that visit. Even though it was an hour drive, I wish I would have bought at least one record. But I left empty handed. I guess you could say my experience was quickly diverted upon entering the store. I greeted the lady working, and I received a little to no response. More like a lethargic reply spoken under her breath. Somewhat rude. Like where is your enthusiasm? You have a chill job. Not one word spoken during my time there. And I was the only customer. Now onto the records. Most pop-rock records from the 60s to the 80s. Small Jazz, Hip Hop and Soul section. Some prices were a tad bit over priced but I get it. I guess that also made me not want to buy a record. I've been digging in the crates since 2000. I know the value of a lot of records. And I know what I'm looking for as well. I didn't see much that stood out. But if you're new to collecting vinyl, then you'll enjoy this store. I'll give this store another visit and hope for a better experience and spend more time digging. But this review is based on my 45 minutes in the store. Just didn't like the weird vibes radiating from the employee. read more

you've seen music stores before, but never like this! It is a well sized family owned shop, with everything you could ever wish to find. Being a lover of old music and the classic superior sound of vinyls, I've just about found everything i have ever wanted in this shop. From rare merchandise to cds you could never find anywhere else, you definitely need to check this place out. They have a whole wall of dvds, a wall of cds, and in the center vinyls, behind the counter some rare band merchandise. My verdict: Very nice people, a very big selection of music and movies, reasonable prices for rare and also not so rare cds and vinyls, Im always surprised with what i find each time i visit. I have to say one of the best vinyl shops in town. RJ has a huge selection and his prices are extremely fair and he will not gouge you for anything. Prices range from 3bucks to 40 for some rare items. Never had a bad album from there. Just found it last week on happenstance and been here 2x in a week. Definitely earned a repeat customer for sure. First time I came to spindles I found the Jimi Hendrix experience for $1 and it plays perfectly. I come as often as I can remember but I hit too good the first time, and will probably never find a sick deal like that again! There's still some good stuff at this shop though. San Diego record shopping continues. This was tough to review. 5 stars for selection having both new and used. Wide selection of prices including a $1 - $3 bin area. From there prices go up, up and up. (That's where my 1 star comes in.) One reviewer actually said what I was thinking, that most of the used records are about $5 more then what they can buy, in similar condition, in their home town. For me that would be LA. Personally if I wanted to pay top dollar I would just log into Discogs, select NM- and be done with it. However half the fun of record shopping is finding a good deal. I would go back to look for a hard to find album, but I would not shop here to grow my record collection. read more

I go here all the time and it is great for what it is. The couple that work here are very helpful, pleasant to talk to, knowledgeable, and not pushy. This is a great little music store. Some people have written that they don't have everything there, but in my experience if you ask the owners they can and will order stuff for you. And keep in mind that this is a family owned business and not a big warehouse store. They have sooooo much stuff in this place. It's fun to just wander through and check everything out. The owners are great and SUPER helpful, especially the woman. 2 people wrote that she is rude but I have NEVER experienced her that way and I go in there frequently. She's always super helpful. The man is super funny and he always goes out of his way to help. Plus he usually knows their inventory so can tell you if they have something or not. I been here like 4 times. The times I have gone the older man is super nice and kind and very happy to help you look for something you are looking for. Because of him I have been returning. Prices aren't to high and 2 times out of 5 I don't find what I'm looking for . 3 stars only because last time I went. An older lady cashed me out and was so rude. I bought a chucky movie collection with two dvd's in it. I asked if two movies were in one dvd. All she said was "I don't know, I have no idea" without even looking up.!!! Wtf! Rude. They have a huge selection of DVD, VHS, Vinyl records, blu-rays and other memorability at great prices. I make it a point to stop by twice a month to check out their ever changing collection of media. Nowadays, with all the big malls taking out their video/record stores, its nice to find a superb mom and pop store dealing in these lost treasures. I have lived in Temecula 20 years this October and only found this place a couple years back. Ever since I have gone often and bought quite a few records so far. They have a great selection of my fav type music, classic rock and I have found many new artists I did not know about but do now. They also have tons of CDs, DVDs, Blu-Rays and even some cassettes. Lots of books and of course specialty records like colored and picture discs. I find lots of great stuff and surprise gems in the recent arrivals records. The store owner is friendly and cracks jokes with me which sets me at ease. I'm generally a cheapskate with my price range going for the $5.98 records and I find a lot that are real nice and what I'm looking for. I have found a lot of good stuff for 99 cents so don't pass over that section or you will miss the hidden gems. I hope all is well with the owner and the store will be open after this virus scare. Traded there a few times now. They had very diverse selection of used vinyl, and I love that they do blue ray and cd also. Very congenial owners, flexible and fair in trade ins.
