Sadly, I had no luck. The dresses in other costume shops were soo pricey around $150-275 just for rental, and the online ones I found were too shabby for its price or just not appropriate. I accidentally stumbled upon the Enchanted Cellar, when I was watching a play at Wright Hall. I am so glad I found this place because Roxanne is very knowledgable about the time frame of the costumes, and they had a good selection of dresses for every era. I would call ahead to double check the hours, if they have what you are looking for, and the price range for the type of costume you are looking for. I tried on lots of dresses, finally found what I wanted (took me at least one hour). Also I paid around 46 bucks for 2 or 3 weeks rental with student id (Roxanne was very accommodating, since my event was in San Francisco, and I couldn't be in Davis for some time), but I think the price depends on the costume and the duration. She even tailored the dress a little bit to make sure it fits me. A+ service. Additionally, although some of the costumes here are pretty old, they have a high quality because they were actually made here mostly for plays. If you don't want to have overdone or slutty costumes for Halloween or any other event, definitely check this place out! The price might be questionable and out of range especially for students, but a lot better than many places. Recommended!

Really only 2 styles of corsets, but well-built, fair price ($40-60+) and many different colors. If you're around a size 4, not too many items for you. But they did carry a decent number of XL items! Saw clown, Disney princess, swords/fake guns, cowboy, pirate, alien, raver, beaded dancer items. Happy shopping. New, vintage, handmade, secondhand, costumes, gifts, all of it packed into multiple rooms so you can lose time in there real fast. It is organized in a loose charming way but also you absolutely need both hands free and a plan or you will black out and emerge with five things you did not intend to buy. I also loved that some pieces actually have little stories attached, like the hand dyed linen set I grabbed from the owner which made it feel extra special. Prices are super reasonable, from outside bargain racks to more curated finds, and honestly it is the perfect spot if you ever need an outfit for an event or a last minute themed moment. I would 100 percent drive back just for this place.

They have amassed a large collection of costumes and costume accessories. Deanna was the most helpful on Halloween Day nonetheless. With so many people coming in for last minute needs she kept a smile on and kept serving the customers to make their day memorable. The prices were half of what you would see at a Spirit Halloween store. With much better quality and selection. I wish more people knew about this resource in our community. My son lost his pirate hat at school the day before Halloween. I drove around to 10 Stores. From Goodwill to Spirit. Elk Grove, Sacramento to Carmichael and Rancho Cordova looking for the type of hat he wanted. I came in here and they had 4 or 5 different styles. From the inexpensive to the highest quality. While spending 15 minutes in the store I saw many procrastinators come in looking for help. And they did just that. Helped them find the perfect costume. This store truly had it all. Lastly stop asking for white contacts in the store. This is done online. You must have a prescription (It's the Law) and they get shipped to you. This was something I heard asked many times and even a couple phone calls about them. These are costume people not eye doctors. It's usually the same every year, plus the additions of the newest trending shows or movies costumes. I like how they have a little "haunted house" zone in the center of the store to check out the jump scare animatronics. It's a nice set up. Even with the lights on, I'm still a chicken when it comes to those.

My son and his friend were stopped when trying to exit Spirit Halloween Store by the security…read moreguard. The security guard said they "looked" suspicious. He had not seen them take anything and had no reason to stop them. He took them outside in front of the store, where he asked them to pull up their shirts and turn around. These two boys are minors and were never asked if they could be searched but were told. Private security guards are not police officers. They do not have Fourth Amendment authority to conduct warrantless or random searches. These two boys have never experienced anything like this and did not know what to do other than comply with the security guards' demands. Shame on you, Spitit Halloween Store, and this is not over.
