Amazing Jewelry store with great customer service from Security staff to Jewelry Staff

I had used this store before and they were wonderful but recently I took 5 gold rings in to be sized up. I explained to the owner of the store, I wanted a piece of yellow 14kt gold to be put in the bottom of each ring to size it up. He wanted to"shave" the ring down to fit. I had said "No shaving off my gold on any of the rings except the one ring that had an Opal since only that one couldn't be heated up". He agreed and took my rings. When I got them back he not only charged me the full price of $300 (he had quoted me the cost to put small piece of 14kt gold in each ring) but he had also shaved down each (ALL) rings. And he took a lot of gold off each one of them. I'm sure he kept it since gold has gone up so much. I've been thinking about it over and over again at what he did. I'm very angry! I should have never taken all those beautiful rings to him. They feel like cheap junk now. Hollow out remnants of what was once high quality rings. I trusted him because I had been going there for years. No more! I'll never go back again. Buyer beware. Don't go there unless you are willing to let him destroy your bountiful jewelry. And if he'll do that to me, he'll do it to you, too! read more

This review is a bit late as I had visited Spitz Jewelers twice 3 months prior. I made an appointment and was helped by Cheryl, she was very very nice and made me comfortable right off the bat. She listened and guided me in choosing a new setting for my old engagement ring and creating a new set of diamond Pearl earrings from an old Pearl earrings that I had laying around, and resizing my Diamond wedding band. Disappointing Service on Last Visit I had come here before to get a battery replacement for a quartz Seiko chronograph that had been handed down to me from my grandfather and the service was great. I was immediately buzzed in at the front door and was helped by the friendly staff. I was told the charge would be $25 and that it would take about 20 minutes. They delivered a great and quick service and my watch was set properly to the appropriate time and looked like it had not even been touched! Fast forward to today, I had come in once again to get yet another quartz Seiko chronograph for a battery change. I was immediately let in by staff and I let them know that I would like to have the battery changed. Their price was the same and the wait time was short once again. When I received the watch I was asked if the watch was set, and it was not. The staff woman that assisted me kindly asked for the watch and went to the back and had it set. I paid for the service afterward, thanked them and left. After a small trip to a nearby restaurant I took a closer look at the caseback to see that the notches had been dented and the caseback left scratched. Keep in mind, I had never tried servicing the watch myself and the watch had been kept in a drawer ever since the first battery had died, to my knowledge. The watch case is a bead blasted titanium so polishing it myself would not suffice. I am disappointed in the lack of care with my watch. While I understand that my little decade and half old Seiko does not hold the same material and monetary value as a brand new Rolex, Omega, etc., does not mean it should be treated as such. I would like to assume that this business would not let the same damage occur on a more expensive watch where the finishing is more likely to highlight small damages. For the time being, I will be seeing other watchmakers and watch stores for the servicing of my watches, and hope that the quality of service is equal regardless of the watch in hand. read more

I was referred to Spitz and it did not disappoint. The customer service was A+. I was worried I would be intimidated but everyone was kind and respectful. Their location is secure and they even a guard in front. It's close to all so it's easy to grab a bite or a coffee in the area. $20 watch battery and free cleaning with Yelp check-in. It took all of about 10 minutes. While I waited, I noticed many beautiful engagement and wedding ring sets. Definitely V1 and greater. Something I'll keep in mind for the future. Oh, on the service; The jeweler removes the battery, blows out any dust/particles, inserts a new battery, checks the movement, reseals the watch, and buffed the crystal and case. My husband purchased my diamond engagement ring at Spitz's 24 years ago! Spitz helped me design my ring to fit my personality and my then current and now lifestyle. My platinum ring brilliantly boasts an emerald cut diamond with a halo of diamonds. Spitz has dutifully kept me and my ring polished and in good shape after all these years! Today, I asked Spitz to polish my ring, per the usual, then i planned on walking down to another well known store to purchase a T-bracelet to layer with my David Yuman 18k gold and diamond bracelet....but after looking at Spitz's selection, I decided to ask Spitz to custom make a diamond tennis bracelet for me in 18k gold. I think the price for the diamond bracelet was on par with the T-( non-diamond) bracelet. In my opinion, Diamonds are classic while a other brand's unique T-bracelet has a higher chance of going out of style ( remember when the big chunky silver heart pendant on EVERYTHING signified "Look at me! i'm wearing what everyone else is wearing" hahaha). I know i'm in good hands with Spitz and that they are there to keep my jewelry and me in good shape! read more

I had an incredibly positive experience at Spitz and could not be more enthusiastic regarding the quality of customer service, which I experienced while visiting the store. I called Spitz, as I wanted a second opinion regarding the authenticity and value of my wedding ring. From the moment I called, I could feel the hospitality of the saleswoman. I explained to her why I wanted a second opinion and she encouraged me to come with my diamond's paperwork and ask the owner if it would make sense to pay for a formal appraisal. ( I was immediately impressed that I wasn't encouraged to pay for an appraisal.) I indeed visited the store and both owners took the time to answer my questions about my ring, which was actually bought from a different jeweler located a block or so away. (Although, I have a diamond, truthfully, I don't know much about them.) They cleaned my ring and also looked at it under the loupe. The owner then gifted me with cleaner and encouraged me to visit again when I wanted my diamond cleaned. I will definitely be back when I have the opportunity to shop for jewelry again! read more

We've purchased many pieces from Spitz over the years, wedding bands, earrings, engagement ring, and we were excited to purchase a custom set of three rings representing our kids. Unfortunately, not only were there many problems with the order itself initially- poorly matched stones, delays, but in the subsequent 2 years I've had to return to Spitz numerous times for stones to be replaced or repaired due to cracking (amethyst) or falling out (diamonds, topaz, peridot). I wear these rings only for special occasions, not every day by any means, they are lightly used. It's a pain, they have spent more time not being used waiting to get repaired or at the shop than being available to wear. They were poorly made, and instead of Spitz standing behind the quality of their work, they refuse to acknowledge it. They only thing that I can say is that at least they have fixed it every time (so 2 stars not 1), but it certainly cheapens the experience. I can not suggest custom jewelry from Spitz anymore. My boyfriend and I have recently started the very daunting task of searching for the right diamond and band that aligns with our taste and fits with our budget. We were very lucky to come across Spitz Jewelers. I think it's always intimidating for two young adults to walk into a jewelry store hoping to spend a small investment on a stone for forever. The vibes we were getting from Spitz Jewelers was totally opposite, Cherl was the one that sat down with us to help us. She was genuinely helpful, real, funny, and knowledgeable. She didn't try to up-sale us, we didn't feel judged and she taught us so much about diamonds! She really worked with us to make us feel comfortable, and I really appreciated that. I was really interested in rings with thin dainty bands and they had a great selection! My favorite one was the one pictured here. I was so much more appreciative of Cherl's service here when I we walked into Davidson and Licht's Jeweler next door - which was totally high brow. Spitz Jeweler's welcoming vibe was very apparent to us when the rep from Davidson and Licht started "mansplaining" to me why a thin band won't work for me when I told him that I wanted a thinner band when he showed me one. He didn't want to show us anything and talked to us like we were beneath him so and we decided to just walk out of there. So the point here is go to Spitz! If you are buying something from the display cases you will be fine. However do not bring in any jewelry from home that has any meaning that you want to have converted to something else. For example, like having the stones from a ring put into a necklace so you can wear them close to your heart. I was a long time customer of this husband and wife team and trusted them. But, this time they took a sentimental (and valuable) ring I brought in and kept it, and then made a necklace with new stones instead, and charged me. The husband told me they did this, under his breath, the day I picked up the necklace. I then wanted to return the necklace and get my mother's ring back, no harm no foul, but he then denied it. Both my 1930s wedding ring and my 1910s cocktail ring came from here, after I visited many shops looking for the best pieces. The owners took care to understand my style and budget. They even switched out the main diamond in my cocktail ring before selling it to me, after they discovered a small chip partially obscured by a prong. I have to give a huge shout-out to Spitz Jewelers. Yesterday afternoon, I brought my mother's engagement ring and her wedding band in to be repaired. The diamond had fallen out of the engagement ring, and the wedding band had to be cut off in the hospital. We wanted them repaired and resized. At first, the jeweler said it would take 7-10 days, but when I explained that my mother was gravely ill, they said they would do it overnight. Sure enough, they called this morning to say the rings were ready. What beautiful work they did! Because of Spitz Jewelers, my father was able to put the rings back on my mom's finger which he first did 67 years ago. We have pictures and a video that will forever be of value to my family. i frequent the Rolex AD next door to this place on sundays and would always walk by this store but they are closed on my day off. i had to pick up a watch from next door today and noticed spitz was open so i peeped in since ive been meaning to get an omega or tissot for my brothers graduation coming up. a female SA greeted me and showed me a tissot that would look awesome on my brother but unfortunately didnt even get to the omega side because i think they didnt have any in stock or somethhing. then she told me they also have rolexes so i wanted to take a look since i owe a buddy of mine a rolex and he was meeting me for lunch today. heres where the problem begins. i asked if they would accept my watch (rolex 118238) for a trade in and my SA had to call for "kevin". he come over, takes my watch to the back room and comes back and tells me its a "70s watch with an after market bracelet, where did you buy it and how much?". i said "are you sure? the guy i bought it from said its a 118238, i bought it online but he has his own store and is a "trusted seller" of the rolex forums". "no im positive, your case is plastic, its a watch from the 70s. you said you paid 20000 for this? ouch" now, i bought the watch online but i bought it from an online store with 17+ years in business and even at Rolex ad next door had my watch in their possession before. i initially thought they were trying to low ball me but kevin said he probably wouldnt even buy the watch so i doubt that. but like i said, i was already on my way to D & L next door to pick up my watch so i frantically asked them to see if the ref number and bracelet serial numbers match. they assured me that everything is factory and told me to take care of my watch since they dont even make the bracelet anymore and mines in prestine condition. im not sure what to think of this situation because in one perspective, we are all humans and all make mistakes but i also dont want to tell a watchmaker hes not doing his job right (because obviously he has way more knowledge than me) in summary, will i return to get my brothers tissot? probably. other than that, shoutout to this place for having decently priced preowned rolexes. their prices compare to MODA group prices (before taxes) and thats something i havent seen at too many jewlers. read more

The worst customer service ever. Despite having made 2 major purchases there, I was not treated with respect this summer. First of all, i am loyal to a fault by sticking with them during lockdown. They had possession of my Christopher Designs ring for months and didn't respond to my emails or phone calls to follow up. I wanted to get a new pink sapphire for the center. Finally after several calls and just showing up , i got a hold of them. Garry found my ring. I gave him a chance bc it was pandemic, but i regret it. After showing me sapphires that didn't look so good and not the correct size, he sent them back and gave me 1 new one weeks later. No i was not given a dozen choices as Cheryl states. That is outright untruthful! Everything is very inefficient at this place. By that time i was sick if the long winded process, made the purchase, but realized a few days later , i wanted to return it bc it's was too brown in color. I didn't like the whole experience. I called and emailed, no response as usual. So i'm stuck with a mediocre stone. I now happily shop at Escobar Jewelers which sets the standard for superior quality, service, and reasonable prices for extraordinary jewelry. Really puts Spitz to shame. read more

I came to Spitz to fix my wedding band due to a chipped side stone. The service was quick and the price for repair was fair. Luckily I also had Jewelry Insurance that took care of the bill. While I was in the store, I decided to add a heilo to my ring to make it look nicer. The price was also pretty fair although I am sure I can get cheaper in NY where I had dealer connection. Alas, those days were gone since I don't live there anymore. Regardless, Spitz is a family-run business and they are very friendly and welcoming. I stopped by and hoped to get a link adjustment for my new Omega Speedmaster. The staff was not nice, at all. Instead of offering assistance, the older lady immediately asked if I bought the watch from their store. How rude! I received this watch as my birthday present and it was sent from Colorado. I was told that any authorized dealer will take care of the link adjustment for free. You know, we buy expensive watches pretty often, I hate to say this but this could def be one great relationship building opportunity for them. Before we became regulars at Shreve.Co in San Francisco, they did a couple link adjustments for us without any issues. What a difference. The lady was not going to help me but holding and touching my watch back and forth, bare hand! No gloves, and I can see her finger prints being left on there. I had no f*cking clue what she was doing, I had to ask her to hand over my watch. I was pretty grossed out by the poor experience and one thing for sure, they will never earn my Business. read more
