I was able to get my pups 1st round of shots here for $131 (quite a bit higher than I thought) but we were in and out for less than 30 minutes. I checked out Western Feed & Pet Supply last night while in the area because I saw bags of Hemp Bedding outside. I use Hemp Bedding for the inside of my duck coop and usually order it online. They offer a lot of products for a wide range of animals from horses to even hamsters. A lot of the items were responsible priced, but the Hemp Bedding was actually more pricy than other places. Overall, the store felt kind of sad and there was one employee just sitting on their phone which I understand as it was very slow and I was the only person in there. One of the other employees did ask if I needed help and looked up pricing for me. He was very friendly. I might come in again if I am looking for something specific, but not sure I would make a special trip to this location. read more

We stopped in for the first time while exploring the city, there is street parking and we were greeted right away and asked if we were searching for anything or if we had any questions. We were just looking on this visit, since we had passed by countless times and never stopped. We brought our dog with us and he enjoyed ALL the sniffs. We focused on the dog areas with treats food, toys and accessories but they also offered a pretty extensive bird and cat area as well as some other supplies for animals. We ended up picking up some treats from the bulk options as well as a bag of packaged treats that looked perfect for our dog. As we were checking out they offered our dog a treat, which was so nice. I would definitely come back here again for treats, toys, odds and ends for our dog. read more

On Sunday I stopped in to pick up some cat treats since my poor precious Seal Point Ragdoll was unfortunately completely out! I was in luck they had a a few larger bags of the PureBites and decided to buy them out to last her awhile! I had to get her favorite of course, the Wild-Caught Shrimp and the Beef Liver to switch it up a bit! If you don't know about this freeze-dried treats yet, they contain just 1 ingredient, that's right 100% pure meat! I would recommend this location and am looking forward to returning to check out more of what they have to offer, this company has been in business since they opened up in sac in the 30's! CHECK OUT THE CHICKS!!! DESTINY knows how to pick them!! I have been looking all over the area to get chicks as backyard egg producers/pets and had 4 different breeds I was interested in. Most places I went to the stock just didn't look too healthy (pasty butt). I swung in here and they had BOTH Wyandotte and Australorps (2 of the 4 breeds). They looked very healthy. I got 2 of each breed, figuring one or two would be a roo and I'd have to rehome as I cannot have a rooster in city limits. Destiny picked the chickens for me....and I can happily report she had 100% accuracy in selecting females. The chicks were healthy from the start - and I was able to just maintain preventative measures....they're starting to lay and do a great job keeping my yard in disarray but free of bugs. I highly recommend Destiny and Western Feed for your backyard chickens!!! read more

I stopped by this past Saturday morning and was disappointed to see how poorly the store is looking, things were disorganized, out of stock, and in general disarray, not to mention there is pee and poop from mice or rats all over all the shelves. (and I'm supposed to feel comfortable giving my dogs food or treats or toys from here? No thank you.) The two employees there were too busy chatting between themselves to notice me or offer help as I was looking to find my dogs food that I usually get here (it was either out of stock or misplaced). Not sure what is going on here, maybe under new management? It is shocking what a steep decline things have taken as I had noticed last year they were doing a great job getting the place cleaned up and organized (it was looking great but the improvements seem to have only lasted a year or so). As I said I suspect something along the lines of new management or ownership and a lack of effort (clearly) made by the employees. SHOPPERS BEWARE I would hate to see anyone's pets get sick from products bought from this establishment. I will have to try and find a new small business pet store to shop at. I called Western Feed and spoke to Destinee regarding the wellness vet that visits and I am sure glad I did because it was not what I needed she went on to ask me what my issue was with my Golden Retriever and I told her I will tell you that I was blown away and blessed at the same time she offered me advice and options. She is great at guest service I have not seen this type of costumer service in years. Whom ever her boss is you are truly lucky So as we were leaving she gave my dog a little treat now he found a new BFF so on a day where I was stressed regarding my dogs ear she made me feel at ease and my dog got a new friend, The owner got a new client seems like a win win kinda day ! I rarely venture out to Western Feed since I live in the Elk Grove area, but of the times I've been I have received nothing but great service! All the staff is friendly and knowledgably and my corgi loves to shake his little booty for treats and he gets spoiled by all the workers (this was pre-covid times). Recently came by here since I was in the area to get cat food and masks are required for all customers and workers and marker placements set for social distancing. The store is kept up nicely and easy to find. It is in a neighborhood so it is all street parking but I never had any issues looking for parking. They have all kinds of food, treats and toys for your furry babies as well as harnesses, beds and crates. Definitely a good pet store to hit up and get all your kiddos needs! read more

The staff that I've had the pleasure of meeting here are all very nice. They greet and make you feel welcome when you enter the store. I wandered in here looking for a specific product but they didn't carry it. However, the manager (I think) offered to special order it for me and have it ready the following week. When I came back, I was greeted with the same welcome from a different staff member. He even helped me load the heavy bag into my car. Since I didn't buy anything else, I can't add much to the review. But I noticed the store was very clean and orderly. If I have time I'll come back and browse. I rented a cage to trap an unwanted yard varmint. I wasn't given good instruction for setting it up so it was ineffective. Until I figured it out. Lost about a week. I guess I needed to be more proactive about my instruction. To their credit, their daily rental fee is much lower than other suppliers. read more

We've been shopping exclusively for pet food at Western Feed on 34th Street for years. Have always been impressed with the quality food, great prices and excellent service. Today (9/2/2021) we did our usual shopping run and was appalled at one of the clerks working the store , the man with the beard. He was absolutely ignorant of what food was stocked in the store and rather than asking for directions, this guy adamantly insisted the food requested - food we have been buying for years - was not carried. Another customer of 10 years experienced the same thing! The bearded guy said the same thing to each customer - we don't carry that food. I don't know who this guy is but he needs to go - immediately. He was not only useless, he is actually harming your business. read more

I love Western Feed and Pet Supply, but specifically this location! They will point you in the right direction for whatever your pet needs. They have helped me so much with various conditions that my pets have had, that did not need the attention of a vet, but did need a diet change or a cream, or ointment, or some thing in order to help them. I believe strongly in preventative health, and so do the employees of this feed store. They have helped me change my pets a diets, and I believe in the long run that has saved me money in veterinary care. They are the most knowledgeable feed store I have frequented. They carry a line of dog and cat food called "Tuscan Naturals" that is top-of-the-line. They sell CBD oil from that brand as well. There is one gentleman in particular that works there I believe his name is, Jesse, he will take his time and explain things to you thoroughly in a way that you will understand. I cannot say enough good things about this store. They even help me out to my car when I make large purchases. They host VIP vet clinics as well. read more

Western Feed (WF) is a nice little pet store located in mid town area of Sacramento. They have feed for chickens, dogs, cats, and more animals /pets that you might need. But among that they have leashes, collars, toys, food bowls, dog houses and igloos made of plastic (too hot in cali for the real thing), even a little chicken coop, treats and more stuff as always. I have only gotten stuff here for my dog so i can vouch for that stuff. They offer more premium types of dog food. Not your lower grade stuff. The dog toys are pretty well priced to compared to big box stores, plus alot of ones you dont see in the stores too. They do have a great selection of treats, especially for dogs cause they have them low to the ground and its kinda like a pic and choose and fill up. A bag, its bulk buying so keep an eye on your dog if they like to help them selves, they can here. Just saying that if your dog has allergies to certain foods like chicken, wheat, corn etc, they might snag a treat and you wont know what happened. Now you will. Parking is pretty decent around the store, it is downtown so make sure your not in the section where you need a parking pass to park in front of houses, but a round the building and side its not. Just read the signs and you will be fine. Customer service is really nice and friendly here, they love pets, will help you with any question. I have seen 4+ employees and they have been great all around, they even help bring out your stuff out if you need a hand or 2. They do have the local pet clinics here on Saturdays from 1pm to 330pm. Not sure if every Saturday so call to make sure they will be there. But they offer $15 micro chips, low costs shots for rabies, and the other puppy and kitty vaccinations. If you want you can also sign up your pet for there free pet of the month. If you win you $15 gift certificate here and your dog will get his picture posted on the wall with his bio. My dog won, so it does work, no gimmicks for calls about anything except to ask for his pic and bio to send them for the display. It is solely for the pet of the month. So if you want great help, service, food and toys for your pets, or family member (some people call pets that) WF is a great spot for all of that. They're helpful and have a wide selection of all things pets. Like others, I like the broken cookie bin (one of our dogs needs smaller treats). I do wish they'd track my purchases like Incredible Pets does ... I can never remember when I last bought food, what brand/flavor, etc. and that's a big plus for IP. I just got a pup and everyone knows how expensive that can be. Every Saturday they have Pet VIP care come and they do shots for a pretty decent price. Who doesn't want to spend their early Saturday afternoon surrounded by dogs? pshhh Just get there early because that line gets long and it gets pretty warm in there. Came here to get my puppy some new food and some cleaning materials for his little accident... He was on Purina Puppy Chow when I got him. I wanted him on some better stuff, so after some research I decided on Innova's puppy formula. Unfortunately, the puppy preferred the Purina and would spit out the Innova outside of his bowl... Fortunately, Western Feed has a great return policy if your puppy doesn't like the food you can bring it back. It was a quick and easy transaction, loved how simple it was.
