I would really like to give this place a good review, but my food wasn't good at all. the grits were horrible. they were undercooked and smelled bad. The manager tried to accommodate by giving home fries, but the home fries taste like water covered in salt. turkey sausage wasn't cooked all of the way and the juice wasnt great either. As a small, local diner, how do they not only have super restricted hours, but also regularly and randomly close during posted "open" hours? They claim to deliver locally, but will only accept cash -- AND CAN'T TELL YOU HOW MUCH IT WILL BE! Even after insisting and pleading, I never got the promised call back. Stopped here for breakfast on a Friday morning. Located within walking distance of our hotel and the gymnasium where we had games- was really a win/win for me on Friday morning. Ordered a coffee and a water and was craving pancakes, so I went with the pancakes deluxe which came with eggs and bacon and sausage. Was standard fare and tasted exactly how it should Place was small but bright and clean, and was quiet with the staff very friendly and the food coming out very quickly. Was in and out in 25 min. Splendid is in the name, and splendid is what this diner serves up! Great big menu with lots of options at a great price with great service, exactly what you expect in a north ear diner. I went with the full Irish and extremely happy! The black and white pudding were particularly delicious, and the bangers and Irish bacon were perfectly cooked. My compatriotiots all very much enjoyed their breakfasts and lunches! The highlight was my friend ordered off menu, a bowl of berries, and was quickly accommodated and really like the fruit spread. Went earlier today for a nice lunch with my lady friend. Ordered a pancake deluxe and then a 2egg wrap. I asked for mexican variant and my friend asked for no sausages, not only was the wrap not pleasant the sausages we didnt want came served on a plate. Once I asked for the plate to get sent back and to get it taken off the bill the waitress told me that it wasnt possible and that I would have to pay for my correct order and the mistaken order. I also got some eggs- where I fell short on describing how I wanted the eggs prepared but the waitress also never asked. Once the feel from the server was off- and our food was subpar....we paid our bill, left, and never locked back. I think its an okay place....they just dont make it easy to have a dine in experience, especially if something isnt by the book. My boyfriend and I have been ordering from this diner for the last month and we have never been disappointed. The food tastes amazing, almost like a homemade taste and the prices are great for the amount of that you get in each plate. For the last month we have religiously ordered the protein omelette and cheddar cheese omelette. These omelettes do not disappoint and the home fries are actual pieces of seasoned potato's, very similar to a Spanish style home fries. We also got the Nutella banana strawberry crepes that we always get (they are my favorite thing on the menu) but the look after the whipped cream melted wasn't to pleasing looking so I passed on taking the picture. We still ate the crepes because they were delicious and warm and amazing, I also prefer the whipped cream melted because it tastes more like ice cream but I like to take clean photos for Yelp. You need to go to this diner or order in.. either way it won't disappoint! read more

I do not spend a lot of time in New Rochelle but needed a breakfast spot. This is probably a favorite for the locals and college kids. It doesn't look like your traditional diner but I guess the menu does imitate a diners menu. I went simple with the avocado eggs benedict. It was well made and the hollandaise was nicely done. I also tried a muffin and they had to be freshly made. So good. I wasn't wow'd by the food but nothing to complain about either. This diner fits into the 3 star diner range. First time here and with my girlfriend... First impression: Small diner and pretty empty We sat down and ordered breakfast. The server was very nice but wasn't too comfortable with the menu. (Perhaps she's a new hire.) My girlfriend got the Martian Breakfast Wrap and I ordered the Western Breakfast Wrap. Both came with home fries. We also shared a short stack of chocolate chip pancakes. Arrived an hour before they closed. Second time here and it was a very good meal at a great price. I had the chicken salad club. The bacon was crispy the lettuce was fresh and I could taste the chicken as it was not over seasoned. The fries were wicked hot out of the fryolator and I was one happy man. My bride and daughter had a scramble egg meal with their specialty home fries with onion and green peppers. Visited recently for a late breakfast and place looks a bit different then my last visit as booths , tables , bar area all look new and updated .Typical diner menu along with some international offerings but give me a egg white omelette with homefries and whole wheat toast and I am happy. I only have had breakfast when ever I have visited in the past but food has always gotten thumbs up for the lunch and dinner options . Came for Saturday breakfast, around 9:30-ish. The place wasn't very crowded but filled up after we got a table. The menu had lots of good choices, nothing fancy. The decor is also nothing fancy. We got a Florentine omelet and chilaquiles. Food came out quickly. It was good, not great, not fancy, but good. Service was friendly. Water and coffee was kept filled. Prices were decent. At the time of this review, Splendid had a 4.5 star rating. After dining here, I can't imagine how that's possible. I arrived as part of a group of 3, and although we were seated immediately, it took about 15 minutes until a waiter came by to take the order. It took another 40 minutes until the food came out. Our entrees (a cheese quesadilla, a turkey burger and chilaquiles) came out before our appetizer (spinach pie). Our waiter said that the cooks burned our original spinach pie and it had to be made again. I had the chilaquiles, and although not unsalvageable, they were pretty close. The steak was so hard it would be better off serving as leather bracelets than actual food. The green sauce was probably store bought, although I should've known better than ordering a Mexican dish at a diner. We came about an hour and fifteen before our movie across the street and ended up sprinting over with less than 10 minutes left. I barely got a chance to try any of the spinach pie because of how late it came out. The waiter was nice but not good at his job and judging from our slow food order, including our burned appetizer, neither are the cooks. read more

We have been loyal patrons of this establishment since day 1, but today was our last day dining here. Sadly because they too are becoming one of those places where the diners are respected lesser and lesser as they frequent the place more and more. They have become a place which now prefer profit over caring for their customers. Our visit today was nice only because their new server was great, it all went downhill when we asked for the cheque and asked for another coffee. We got our cheque and immediately took out our credit card but it lay there on table for 15mins or so without being tended to at which point our coffee arrived and we got busy with it. Only to be interrupted rudely by the mexican lady (who I can only assume runs the show or is the manager) who told us that we had to leave because there were people waiting at the counter of the bar for a booth and if we could hurry it up. We had half our cups left with coffee and as is we were ready to leave considering the fact that we had our payment sorted and they delayed it on their on end. We ended up gulping down our coffee and leaving and felt disgusted afterwards at the disregard we had faced at their hands for being such loyal customers. We were one their first customers ever and to see how they have grown to become this way is very disheartening. Our second last visit (we visited pretty much every weekend sometimes both days quite regularly) we were told quite rudely by our server who was the mexican lady that we will be charged extra for our coffee and it's not about the extra coffee its about how it was said to us with no tact. We always pay our tabs and we always tip more and more because me and my wife like supporting local businesses so they should've known that we wouldn't mind obviously if we had to pay more but to say it so bluntly to our faces like that was too rude. read more

We are so happy this awesome diner opened. It's a small diner, and we only found out about it passing through new roc city. We were worried about the service because our first visit was weird, but the food was very good and the prices for breakfast can't be beat.
