This is my favorite cheesesteak in ALL of NY and the custom made options you would not get in Philly so arguably this is even better than Philly. There mac and cheese is top tier as well. Also the mozzarella sticks are an affordable and delicious app. Protip: Get extra whiz and put it on when reheating it as this is a filling meal. Also their chipotle mayo is made in house and is very good. URGENT: Get Delivery, don't parking I am updating this review because I got Crotty's yesterday and it was amazing yet again but I learned If you park in McDonalds parking lot (because it is near Crottys) a man with no tow truck boots your car and demands $50 cash to unboot it as its private property as you can't leave the property even if you get McDonald's too. It's been decades since I stepped onto a college campus as a student. I'm sure a few of you can relate. One of the great things about college is that local spot you discover, where the locals and students crave and talk about 20 -30 years later. Crotty's is aiming to become an Iona Legend. Cheesesteaks needs 4 things to be good but 4 things done right and it approaches great. Crotty's has a great cheesesteak. 1. Steak is cooked juicy and seasoned well 2. Onions are caramelized and tucked in nicely 3. Cheese your choice but I had the cooper sharp (highly recommend) 4 Bread stays together through the whole sandwich. ( Every one hates when the bread holding your sandwich together disintegrates) Guy serving me must be the owner or everyone needs an employee like him because his excitement over the sandwich process was infectious. I came here for lunch because they came up as a good place for a Philly cheesesteak. First, I love this place and if I lived in New Rochelle, I would be in trouble. Because I would want to eat here all the time. Let's start with the service is amazing; they are really nice and prepare the food properly. I placed my order on the phone but wanted to eat it there and that is exactly what happened. Now the food I ordered the Paulie and I liked it very much. Also I ordered the lunch special which is a steal to me. The meat was well cooked, seasoned and the cheese was melted. Then I got an order of mozzarella sticks and I was blown away. I know, mozzarella sticks but it is something simple that can be done incorrectly so I like it when they are done properly. First the sticks were fresh and made in house secondly the cheese was melted and gooey, delicious. Then the stick had a little bite to the outside of it which gave it a nice texture. The last thing is they were not oily or soggy , just a perfect item. The place is nice and a simple table etc to eat at. With the total order it was a little more than I wanted to pay but I don't regret it because everything was fresh and good quality. I had left a local record store and saw this place as I was navigating to go to the Strand Theatre in Seymour, Connecticut It was too hard to try to make a left turn so I made a right turn and then came back down and pulled into the parking lot Parking is in the back. I went through the back entrance Looked at the menu and there's all different types of cheese steaks. It's locally owned. The employee was very helpful when I went to order. I decided on the mushroom cheesesteak with onions and peppers. The guy behind the counter recommended provolone cheese. I asked if there was a combo for a cheese stick and french fries He said everything was à la carte. The cheesesteak was $13 and I decided to get the special of garlic fries for $6.95. The regular french fries were priced at $5.95. I got foxon Park soda. He said everything will be brought out to me at the table. In About 8 minutes and my cheesesteak came out with good looking garlic fries He asked if I needed any sauces I. I chose marinara sauce. The french fries looked very good and were crispy on the outside with a nice fresh potato taste. The garlic on the fries was very fresh and it didn't overpower the flavor or taste of the french fries themselves The roll was very fresh and soft. The peppers, onions, provolone cheese, and mushrooms mixed very well with the steak. Very flavorful and fresh. But not greasy sometimes cheese steak spots. The meat is pretty greasy and I don't like that. The quality of the meat and all the ingredients were very good My only criticism was that other reviewers said that it was a very hefty portion of meat. It was a good portion I thought. But not as large as some of the reviewers said it was, and I thought that the portion was a good size portion. But not as much meat as I've gotten that other cheesesteak places for around the same price $13 bucks for a cheesesteak. I see they had an option to add extra meat for $4 but I didn't think that I would of had to pick that option when I first ordered I would definitely go back here though there's so many different choices for cheesesteaks and the employee recommended the cheesesteak with extra American cheese So in conclusion, the quality of cheesesteak sandwich was very very good. I've had Crottys once every couple of months and that's all due to my 3 year old son who's loves Crotty cheesesteaks since he was in my stomach! Hes not to much of a picky kid, he'll try everything once but if he doesn't like it he will not eat it again so I know Crottys is delicious because even when he's having a temper tantrum and doesn't want to eat (parents yk what I'm talking about), crottys is one of those meals I can count on because I KNOW he'll eat. The hoagie bread was also completely soggy and not crispy at all - I could only eat a fourth of the sandwich. Mac n Cheese one was too much cheese overload / had only a few macaroni's inside (you had to really look for it) - nothing like the photos online or in the magazines posted. Prices are confusing as well - you walk in and see two big framed menus and they are completely different fro the actual menu (behind the POS/online), so it's very misleading. 5/5 the onion ring dip - whatever was in that, I liked 0/5 However, the quantity of onion rings were kind of sad ($2 per onion ring) 5/5 for the quantity of meat - honestly if it wasn't so salty, my scores would all go up. Not sure what happened - maybe a jar of salt accidentally spilled into their vat of cheez whiz? 2/5 The cheesesteak disco fries were soggy - very very salty on the top, but more delicious/less salty on bottom - maybe they literally throw a splash of salt on top??? Well Well Well.... Crotty's & Yelp has created an addiction. Yelp had an event at Crotty's which introduced me to this establishment and I have now been back a few times. Even twice in the same week. (Smh) You just might miss it... but once you find it you may never forget it. Located steps away from the lona college campus in New Rochelle. I enjoy the option of grilled chicken breast since I do not eat beef. My choice is the custom...loaded on a toasted garlic hoagie with provolone cheese, caramelized onions, jalapeños, grilled tomatoes, and occasionally fried pickles. No matter if it is the shorty or the regular I am only able to eat half. The shop is small with one table for four, some out door high-tops (in warmer weather) and a window counter with seating for about 3. The sandwich menu is concentrated around flat top grilled steak they assemble into numerous sandwiches, all with trendy names like "The Irishman" (this one includes bacon), "The Wild Buffalo" (with wing sauce), etc. I think you get my drift. On this first visit I tried to sandwich called the "New Yorker" (Featuring caramelized onions and grilled tomatoes). Tony had a traditional cheesesteak. Tony's sandwich was super tasty and delicious. I tried this place before and didn't like how bland the cheesesteak tasted so I asked for the steak to be seasoned with salt and pepper this time. To say that I was disappointed in this meal is an understatement. To begin, the cheesesteak was wrapped aluminum side down which obviously would cause a hot steak to collect condensation when wrapped. The bread on my steak arrived soaking wet and falling a part. The fries also arrived soggy for the same reason, sealed in an aluminum container while hot with no paper to soak up the condensation. The cheese whiz also had a cheap flavor. It literally tasted like melted American cheese. The Pepsi also never arrived. Will absolutely never order from this place again. Small location located right across from New Rochelle High School and down the block from Iona College. When we walked in we were greeted by a very nice lady who was happy to answer any questions or provide recommendations. The menu has a nice assortment if variation of cheesesteaks and sides. I decided to start with the traditional and my wife got the club, also got mozzerella sticks and French fries. Review of the Club: Wife was happy her only change would be to get the whiz instead of the American for more flavor. The sandwich was a nice size and filling. the bacon was nice and crispy. Overall not to greasy. Bread was lightly toasted. The traditional was packed wIth meat and cheese. next time I will add the peppers. The meat has a nice flavor and the whiz adds extra flavor. The bread was also lightly toasted, I would have it toasted it a little more. My was on the greasy side. Step aside Philly, there's a new sheriff in town. I've had all the heavy hitters before. I've taken a a road trip just for a sandwich from Pat's or Genos. Now there's Crottys. This is the perfect spot in Westchester for anything craveable, hearty and cheesy. As soon as you walk in, youre going to see the menu stacked with insane combinations. Delicious philly-style cheesesteak wedge. We ordered the "Traditional". You have the option of protein, beef, pulled pork, chicken and something plant base. Let's be real, we were there for the beef! Ive been picking up from Crotty's for about a year and they are always on point. Fresh ingredients and friendly service. Yesterday my wife called in an order and when i arrived, they said,"are you David?" I thought that was odd and then they said, we've been waiting for you, you are the first." Now I'm really curious so I asked what is going on. Apparently, my wife had ordered two brand new items on the menu. Paul, the owner was excited and explained that the items had just been added to the menu hours earlier and that we were the first to order them. Crotty's does cheesesteaks, thats their pallet. And they do them creatively and well. She had ordered The Thanksgiving Gibbler and the Chopped Vodka Parm. Both of Paul's new additions to the menu. Well let me say I was very pleased with both sandwiches. The Gibbler is a thanksgiving leftover surprise with fresh turkey and all the fixxins. The tastes explode in your mouth surrounded by the soft cheesesteak bun. Everything you need for a thanksgiving meal without the annoying relatives. The Chopped Vodka Parm was just as it sounds, heavenly. My bro in laws recommendation got me to order from them, and I was pretty happy with what I received. Yes, I feel that the cheesesteak was pretty expensive versus the size similar to many other comments. Without the 20% off for checking in, we were at 35 dollars for two sandwiches. Even with inflation that is massively costly!! Overall, the quality of the sandwich and flavors therein won me over. I opted for a chicken cheesesteak, which was great, but unfortunately, they added American cheese, which I hate without being asked. It still was a tasty sandwich, so I didn't call to complain. Thanks Marietta and the Yelp Hudson Valley Instagram account for posting about Crotty's! We stopped by one afternoon for lunch and tried this hole in the wall! There is not much seating at this place (2 tables with some chairs and a few high tops at the windows). The tables were occupied when we got there. The girl at the front was nice and we got our food about 10 minutes after ordering. It was pretty cold in there (even the girl at the front complained to us about it) and it was SO quiet. I was so uncomfortable standing beside the people who were there just listening to them chew ! Because it's so small/semi full we decided to take our food home. By the time we got there stuff was soggy. Not the restaurants fault, but I would have liked to eat there. We got the traditional cheesesteak with caramelized onions and whiz and it was so good!! I would have liked to have a little more whiz on my sandwich or have it more dispersed throughout it instead of just on the bottom. You get a ton of food for the price and the bun was great! We also had the fries (would have been better to eat there) and a small Mac n cheese which were also good! I'd definitely go back to try something else and hopefully sit there. Oh! Delicious! I came across this restaurant on GrubHub and decided to give them a try today for lunch. I was a bit skeptical at first because of the mixed reviews, but so happy I decided to try them out anyway. Delivery was surprisingly fast. I'm picky when it comes to bread and hate it when places don't use fresh bread- but their bread was great! My only gripe was that the sandwich was messy and everything was falling out of it, but that's prob cause I added all these toppings to it. Also, it was a bit pricy. The sandwich itself was a little over $20, and add the GrubHub fees and tip- I paid almost $30 for lunch. The sandwich was large though, so you could easily share it with someone. This is an AUTHENTIC Philly cheese steak restaurant. They use wiz cheese and chop everything up finely- just like the original! To some of the reviews that complained about the wiz cheese- that's what they use in Philly!
