I came here for brunch on a snowy winter day so there were only a handful of other patrons. It's a cute little cafe with maybe 10 tables, plus bar seating. To start, we shared the crispy brussel sprouts Charleston style. These were delicious with the tangy sauce and large flakes of parmesan cheese. For my main, I had the brunch wrap. It comes with chips, but I swapped for fries for an additional charge. The wrap was a good size; I had half and saved the rest for leftovers. It was tasty, but not a ton of flavor. The tater tots were nice and crispy and I enjoyed the fresh tomatoes and avocado. They gave me a huge portion of crinkle cut fries, which also would've been great with a little more seasoning, but they were good when dipped in mayo. My husband got the shrimp and grits and appreciated the large portion size as well. I had a lemonade to drink. It was refreshing since it wasn't overly sweet. Service was great. Just as their tagline goes, this is undoubtedly a great place to get burgers, beer and grub. It's a somewhat small place with a great array of options, especially for lunch and brunch. Aesthetically, each table feels like a meal at a family dinner table; it's clear that they wanted that vibe to be translated, and it's done quite well. This is also supported by the service being very friendly and helpful in general. To eat, I had the French toast burger with sweet potato fries. Some others with me had various sides like regular fries and tater tots, and the same thing was present on them that tends not to be at most places: they were all perfectly salted/seasoned. It might seem immaterial, but it's a very good signal when something that simple--yet often neglected in favor of just using condiments to mask it--is executed well. If you're a burger place with fries that taste great without the need for a sauce or condiment, you're doing something right. The French toast burger was likewise fantastic, combining sweet and savory in a great way. To drink, we all got a communal pitcher of the only frozie they had available at the time: a kind of jungle juice vodka slushie. It, too, was great--worthy of multiple rounds. Cute place with friendly service, but really disappointing food. I stopped by recently on a weekday for breakfast only to learn it's only served on weekends. Fair enough - so I changed gears to lunch and opted for their burrito bowl special. About the only positive thing I can say is that it was served hot. My family came on a weekend day around noon and were surprised at how empty things were. We were easily able to find a spot. But where was the brunch menu that everyone's talked about? Nonetheless, we found some good options for the family. The kid food options were good but didn't come with any sides, which was a bummer. Plus, they were on the pricier side. My Stinger sandwich was pretty good. I was able to give a lot of the fries to my kids. I ended up eating in pieces since it was hard to put fully in my mouth in one piece. Great local spot with delicious comfort food and drinks. The place has a rustic diner setting with a long counter to eat at or have a sit at one of their many tables. Decent bar and drink selection to add their classic menu. I had the pleasure of tasting the steak frites. Tender steak with a little pepper kick served with wrinkled truffle parm fries. Huge plate and every bite was delicious. I really wanted to try their DIY Mac and cheese but got stuffed on my main course so that's my next visit order for sure. Service was attentive and friendly. I came here for dinner with friends and we all really enjoyed our food! We ordered the stinger sandwich and steak frites. Their steaks were cooked exactly how they asked, and my chicken sandwich was delicious! The sauce they used on it was amazing, and I like how they used texas toast instead of a traditional bun. Legit I think we ordered one of everything on the menu here that's how much we ate. The Wooden Spoon is super cute and not too busy on a Saturday night. You can tell it's family run and that the staff really care about their customers. We shared a bunch of appetizers: fried pickles, fried ravioli, totchos, and the brussel sprouts (Charleston style without bacon). The tots and sprouts were the best. I'm not a huge fan of ravioli so I can't comment on that, and the pickles were fine. I really liked their wings. The sriracha ones were okay but I liked bbq more. The onion rings were absolutely delicious. The mac and cheese was SO gooey. I wasn't a huge fan of the ribs but the portion was massive. No matter what you get here, you have to come hungry. Drinks were good, whoever made them definitely had a heavy pour. I had a spicy strawberry jalapeño margarita and it was pretty good. The prices were amazing as well. Great American bar / restaurant in New Rochelle! I stopped by for lunch with a group of friends, and we were seated right away. The Wooden Spoon has a huge menu of creative takes on American classics so there's something for everyone here. I ordered the Balboa Burger and was a bit underwhelmed - the patty was juicy but though the garlic bread bun and mushrooms should have been more flavorful. The tots were outstanding. The two favorites in the group were the garbage plate and the build-your-own burger. I'll definitely build my own next time. Honestly this food was not good . We just received an order from Uber eats . We ordered the chicken with biscuits and gravy and the chicken and waffles with the fried pickles. Everything was just a mess . The batter on the fried pickles was soggy and raw and not fully cooked. They were wet and slimy and my chicken and biscuits was terrible. The biscuit was ripped into pieces and the batter on the chicken was a soggy mess. This meal was not worth $50 and I wouldn't never complain about prices of something I want but this was very disappointing. I don't know how to respond personally to your response Nick T. But I found myself just sitting there while both waiters kept on asking if the other tables were good or needed anything literally within 5 mins. If was shortly after I had gotten my food that I felt I was being checked on. But overall. They had cornhole and park bench style seating out back that looked fun for a happy hour. When we came it was too hot to sit out there though. As for the food the totchos were tater tots in the form of nachos that I am seeing pop up on a lot of menu's these days. I love tater tots since it reminds me of my childhood! The totchos were good but they are heavy. I also had the spoon salad which was just ingredients in a bowl. Not my favorite or most cohesive salad. My colleague got the cali and it wasn't bad. It was tuna on a sandwich with some other toppings. The food is your typical bar food nothing less nothing more. I have eaten at wooden spoon many times before and gotten deliveries, so i am very disappointed about what just occurred on 9/13/24. I ordered food through uber eats and the app alerted me that my order should have gotten there by that time, so i called the restaurant to find out the status. When I called the guy said he would call the delivery person and find out. He stated that the delivery guy was on his way and would arrive in 10 mins. I waited but 20 mins had passed and i couldn't track the delivery person on the app since they didn't use it. Uber just kept telling me to call the restaurant. I called again and was told that the guy delivery person was another 5 mins away. When the delivery guy arrived i asked him why he didn't set the app so i could see his eta on the app, he just responded that he doesn't know and he just works for the restaurant. So as i was turning around towards my door and trying to think how i was going to tip this guy on the app, he made a comment towards me "next time tip!" Thats when i really got angry and called the restaurant for the owner or manager. When i called I requested to speak to the owner/ manager and the name of the delivery person, the guy on the phone only gave me your name and refused to give me the name of the delivery guy and stated that he cannot disclose the name of his delivery guy. I only wanted it so when i spoke to a manager i could reference back to this person- Well after he refused to give me the name, he rudely hung up the phone on me. I am so angry with the poor customer service. I've lived in new rochelle my whole life. I've seen businesses like this in New Rochelle due to the poor customer service. After this I will never go to Wooden Spoon. I emailed the owner and he never responded to my concern! read more
