    Outdoor space

My absolute favorite spot in Cohasset! Great music, beautiful outdoor space, great selection of beers from local breweries, and the most incredibly kind staff. Also, the best lobster roll I have ever had. Thank you Split Rock!

Fun atmosphere! Relaxing. Great selection of beers. Family friendly. A little on the pricey side.

This spot is quickly becoming one of my favorites in the neighborhood! After moving out of Boston,…read moreI was looking for some local breweries to replace my favorites in the city, and am happy to say Vitamin Sea is helping fill the void. The brewery itself is spacious with lots of indoor and outdoor seating and your typical funky, industrial tap room feel. There's often really good food trucks, pop-up coffee stands, live music, trivia nights--you name it. You can also grab cans to-go, peruse their merch selection, and bring your pup along (at least if you're sitting outside, not sure about the tap room). Barrel House Z is also right nextdoor, so if you want to brewery hop a bit, that's an option too. The beers themself also don't disappoint. My husband and I are definitely hazy IPA people, and have found something we love each time we visit. If you're not into that though, your options are definitely more limited. They do always have at least one seltzer and mocktail on the menu if either of those are more your speed. Both the staff and patrons here are so nice, it definitely has a community feel to it. I'm quickly on my way to becoming a regular, and wouldn't have it any other way!

Well, now I can say that I've had a seltzer the color of "zelyonka"! To my non-slavic friends and…read morefollowers, let's say this: When I got my sample of Baja Splash Seltzer, my initial reaction was "it's green!" (or was it "blue"?). No matter, I can say for sure it was great! This one was refreshing, summery, citrusy, and while sweet, not overwhelmingly so. Something I would 10/10 get again, and need to get my tail end over here before it rotates out! I also have a light fascination with blue food - it seems like it shouldn't exist, but I digress. As for their other offerings, I feel that they have an okay selection. Some seltzers, stouts, sours, and non-alcoholic options were all available. However, the menu was also IPA heavy, and while I appreciate that I may be in the minority, I am not an IPA fan. Though, perhaps that may change in the future with Vitamin Sea's help. The staff have been nothing but kind and welcoming. While typical of places like this, the ability to try samples doesn't go unnoticed. Finally, the vibe is open, hip, and communal. There are lots of picnic style tables, and card/board game available to borrow. Thus, a terrific brewery to spend a weekend afternoon or evening at. The place is open to families and friend groups, and food trucks are here often. Lots to try and enjoy; especially for IPA lovers. Brewery fans will also appreciate another favorite: Barrel House Z throwing distance away.

Castle Island Brewery - Norwood, MA (Beer & Staff)…read more (Atmosphere) Great Beer Selection Castle Island delivers on what matters most: the beer. From crisp lagers to bold IPAs, the selection is solid, flavorful, and well-crafted. Whether you're a hop head or just looking for something smooth, there's something here for every palate. Friendly Staff The team behind the bar is welcoming, knowledgeable, and quick to offer recommendations. Service is efficient and upbeat, which adds to the overall positive vibe. Kid Overload Unfortunately, the atmosphere takes a hit. At 6:00 pm 8:00, the taproom felt more like a daycare than a brewery. Tables were dominated by birthday parties and families with small children eating cupcakes. While some may appreciate the family-friendly approach, it's jarring for those expecting a classic bar experience. If you're looking for a chill adult night out, this might not be the spot--especially on weekends. Final Thoughts Castle Island has the bones of a great brewery: excellent beer and great staff. But the overwhelming presence of kids makes it hard to relax or socialize. If they offered adult-only hours or designated family times, it could strike a better balance.

The staff really knew their beer selection and were super helpful in guiding us to the perfect drinks. The vibe is perfect for a brewery: projectors, board games, and a welcoming atmosphere that's both family- and dog-friendly. Truly the kind of spot you could spend an entire Sunday enjoying. The food truck outside was also a 10/10 and was able to accommodate to our allergy requests no questions asked!

Great little spot for fresh sushi and more -- not "salty" at all!…read more I'm happy to say that Salty Days is one of the good speciality seafood places that you could count on one hand in the South Shore. The sushi rolls are hearty and could make a meal in and of itself. Fish was fresh, but I found the flavors in the rolls a bit muddled and on the sweeter side. We had honey and mango in our rolls that accounted for the sweetness, but I would have appreciated some acid or perhaps more salt (ironically) to cut it. I also sampled a poke bowl. Tuna was tasty and appreciated the texture of the crunchy bits. Service was friendly -- although they taunted us a bit as the TV on the wall had a live stream of a bar in St. John's. Want to know what that's about. Came once before early on and service and portions felt a bit off -- no longer -- they are learning and appear to be hitting their stride. On a side note, if you are like me, you're a bit confused why Greater Boston has nice seaside towns but don't lean enough into the ocean's flavor. A great omikase and sake is still not happening outside of Boston, unfortunately (if I'm wrong, tell me where).
