Probably the best chicken parmigiana I've ever had. The chicken was perfectly crispy, incredibly flavorful, the tomato base sauce was delicious, and covered with melted cheese. The fresh basil on top added the perfect burst of freshness that elevated the whole dish. The ricotta with honey was also absolutely outstanding. Came here and hostess told us it would be a bit and was super friendly and tried to get us good seats not in the rain. We ended up sitting at the bar and it was pouring so we asked to turn on the heat lamps above us. The bartender asked someone else (not the bartender himself) and that guy gave us a hard time about it which was weird and uncalled for. I ended up getting the meatballs which were so good and my boyfriend got the chicken parm which was massive and also delicious. I got a negroni which was super tasty and would recommend. This is a nice respite in the middle of the craziness of Commercial Street. One really feels like they are in a small, secluded garden. Great classic rock at a low volume was playing. We had some wine and beer here, prices are too high. Got the whipped ricotta for an appetizer; very tasty but really an appetizer for four people, not two. Menu here is very limited here. We shared a Chicken Parmesan for dinner. It was a huge piece of chicken, but it was flattened out, so it wasn't very thick. Also, it was slightly overcooked and had way too much granulated Parmesan cheese on it. Unfortunately, this entrée is not served with anything. Pasta is super inexpensive, not sure why they do not include it with this dish? Big miss IMO. read more

Wow - the ambiance in this place alone is enough to make you want to stop on. The effort they put to create this beautiful outdoor place with greenery and wood accents I felt like I was in another world. It's hard to explain the atmosphere but it was really like walking into a secret garden and you felt transported. We loved it !! Unfortunately we did not eat here though the food smelled delicious ! We ordered a couple beers. They were expensive but for this town I think that is understandable. I wish they had more of a beer selection than they did but we ordered a nitro brew and a lager. The resturant is beautiful and the drinks are amazing! But, sadly the food was okay. I think they need to work on putting some better options on the menu. Basically like not have sure "posh or fancy" items on it, I am saying keep it simple. For example my sister got the Sweet Pea Pasta dish and did not like it. I would keep it simple and do a Pesto Pasta instead. The Meatballs is just a dish by itself it does not come with Pasta you have to order it separately. Again, keep it simple do a Pasta with Meatballs. The sauce is odd and noodles have a hole in them which made them cool off fast) a bit cold when it came out. They need to work on the sauce either more spice or use a different tomato. But it isn't bad I just didn't like the sauce that much and the noodles were a bit cold. Wow! What a find. So unassuming we passed this place twice. Thank goodness we were persistent. We hadn't even warmed our seats when fellow patrons gave us the skinny. Chicken or eggplant parmigiana, Brussels sprouts salad, and the heirloom tomato's with tomato butter - OMG! All I can say dear readers is after the tomatoes you will never and I repeat never be the same. There isn't enough crispy bread to sop up that tomato butter and red sauce. I won't be back. After eating here 4 times I decided not to return. I summer in Provincetown where there are a lot of restaurants to choose from. The problem is consistency. Two of my dinners were okay, one was pretty bad but edible and one (my last visit) was absolutely vile. My last meal 'Shrimp w/Polenta' came submerged in oil. There was a 1/2 inch of standing oil on top of the polenta which was sprinkled with an over abundance of charred garlic. Just gross. Sorry guys, I like the staff here. read more

This has to be one of the coolest places in Ptown to have dinner. The outside ambiance sitting at the bar under vegetation can't be beat. The staff are friendly (if you can get in) and it's a very social dining experience. I ordered the scallops with a pee purée and what a combination. My scallops were perfectly cooked. Stopped by on August 19 and bar was full but at least 3 empty tables. When i asked for table was met with " We don't seat parties of 1". I asked the young girl if she was sure and she said "look I just work here and told that's the rule." I find it shocking that with everyone talking about how the restaurant industry is hurting and business is down that they feel as though they can turn away single diners when they have room in the restaurant.. I have sat at many other tables in Provincetown when no other friends or family are around and not meant to feel so badly ,like somethings wrong with me that I'm trying to eat alone. Seems like a very nice spot, but we were (politely) denied a table in favor of people arriving after us, so I guess we'll never know!

4.5 stars, really I'd bookmarked Nor'East Beer Garden knowing we'd have to check it out. Lucky for us, we snagged the last available covered table when a brief rainstorm hit. The outer patio (had it not been raining) would be awesome for people watching and relaxing in the fresh air. The covered patio toward the back holds a lot of charm, and was just the atmosphere we needed on this rainy afternoon. Trellises covered in vines provide a cozy, intimate feel to the joint. Food - the chicken parm is incredible. Devine. You will want to devour it, but don't. Savor it for a while. My husband kindly shared a corner of it with me. I ordered the Stracciatella - a dish with beats and an Italian mozzarella with cream (the Stracciatella portion of the dish). It comes served with 4 pieces of wonderfully toasted sourdough bread. I'd never had Stracciatella before but live beet salads so I took the risk. It, too, was a wonderful, unique dish. Let's just say, I ate well! Drinks- mostly fantastic but the reason for not a straight up 5-star. I chose more of a sipper - the Negroni. It was perfect. My daughter chose a fruitier cocktail with strawberry which she absolutely loved. It reminded her of these Minute Maid popsicles I used to buy in the summer. Only my husband was a bit disappointed. He's the resident beer guy. He's a casual home brewer and craft beer aficionado. We come from a town that is known for craft beer and have several bars in town which serve 50-100 types of craft beer at any time. So his expectations were that he's have an extensive selection from which to choose; probably unrealistic for an establishment of this size in a tiny tourist town. A couple of the options on the beer menu had been marked as "kicked" plus another he'd hoped to order which was unmarked. The server didn't offer which beers had replaced the kicked ones. That left roughly 9-10 beers on tap plus about 10-12 in cans/bottles. Don't worry, y'all, he found something to drink; he just hoped for a more extensive selection. All-in-all I'd say Nor' East is a terrific choice for dinner, linch, or a drink. read more

Don't be fooled by the name. This place is so much more than a beer garden. I look forward to Nor'East reopening every year, because it's my absolute first-choice spot for a cocktail and the food is also stellar. And you're outdoors under a lovely canopy, so you really can't beat the ambiance. The menu changes every year somewhat, with a different soft focus felt primarily in the small plates. This year's theme seems to be Italian, and they pull it off nicely. The meatballs were giant and delicious. The chicken parm was absolutely massive. The gem caesar salad was a hit, as were the cold mussels. I don't think I've ever had a single disappointing thing to eat here. I really can't recommend this place highly enough. It's my unprofessional opinion that they make the best cocktails in Ptown. I'm particularly partial to their tiki and tiki-adjacent drinks. Even though the mai tai is off the cocktail menu this year, they still made me one. Their painkiller is also phenomenal. And if you overlooked making reservations, Nor'East is your friend because they don't do reservations. Simply give your name and phone number to the host, go grab a drink nearby (I recommend AquaBar across the street) and they'll text you when your table is ready. read more

We had a really nice time the two occasions we checked out this place. Once we came for drinks - they had some kind of strawberry cider that was refreshing, other offerings included Pilsners and a few wines and cocktails. The second trip featured an aperol spritz (but made from something aside from aperol), and dinner. The veggie bowl with barley, carrots, peppers and pumpkin seeds was sufficient for a meal and pretty tasty. My husband had burrata atop a fried wafer (a little more of a small plate). It can get chilly as it isn't fully enclosed, but it was a cozy find for us on our trip. read more

Stumbled in to this little gem yesterday with my fiancé, and had a sensational time. Weather was perfect, the place is adorned with beautiful draping vines across the top of the bar and down the sides...pretty plants everywhere. The team couldn't have been nicer, everyone there was incredibly warm and inviting and what we had intended on being about a 30-min stop ended up being a few hours. Really dug the vibes, and all of the staff's suggestions for us for snacks and libations were spot-on. Get the whipped ricotta, or the endive salad! Small unassuming place on busy Commercial Street, what a surprise. They do not take reservations, however, we were eating late (around 9pm) on a weeknight and we're lucky to be immediately seated at the bar. All the other tables were full even at that hour, but if you've been to ptown in the summer, this is normal... The bartender served us at the bar and was quite personable and friendly, striking up conversations with guests at the bar. Started with an old fashion and it was perfect. Enjoyed a Cesar salad to start, it came with anchovies and instead of croutons, it was served with a cheese/breadcrumb crumble of sorts, absolutely delicious! Would highly recommend this to start. The scallops were served with a risotto and grilled asparagus and a delicious pea puree sauce bursting with flavor! The beer garden is an outdoor only restaurant, however, a majority of the tables are covered and sheltered from the elements. If it's hot or cold out and your sensitive to the temps, you might not be comfortable. I had no problems though. Nor'East Beer Garden was the first restaurant we went to since the beginning of COVID. We were in Provincetown for a weeklong getaway and had happened to walk by the restaurant the night before and really liked their outdoor setup. I'm not sure what it looks like usually but they had about 6 outdoor tables, each separated by old glass paned windows. And there was great ivy all over it - it looked like a secret garden. When we walked in they made us sanitize our hands before going to the table. We decided to get some drinks and share a few plates. We got ceviche, veggie tacos, bok choy, and a tuna tartare. The food was pretty good, we loved the bok choy and the ceviche! We wish they had fish tacos. It was bit pricey but overall was a great first dinner out after many many months. Fabulous experience here earlier this week. We were lucky enough to show up during a moment when a table for two - practically on the street (which is what we wanted) - was available. Staff was awesome, friendly and accommodating! We started with two locally made beers (delicious!) and ordered the "toast" (with feta and walnuts)...along with the hummus. Both were perfect options for sharing. The food was excellent; these two particular dishes are heavy on the carbs (lots of bread...really, really good bread).
