Horribly slow service. ..no follow through. Very marginal food. Not impressed. Not going back.

First time visiting, my sister and I both ordered half sandwiches with sides for just under $7 each. The food was delicious (turkey, swiss, and carmalized onion, with a heap of lettuce for the side), and took all of 7 minutes from ordering to being placed on my table. I'm hoping this is typical, and will definitely be coming back to try thier breakfast. read more

This was a very excellent little restaurant a few months back! But it has dropped the ball in a major way! Very bad management and ownership! Will not be returning. Service was excellent! Then the management cleaned house of almost all the talented, respectable servers awhile back. Not sure why they did that, but the results were just as one would suspect, devastating. read more

I have been in here a couple of times. Each time was for lunch. Each time I had a sandwich. Today, I ordered a BLT. The tomato had flavor and the bacon was not burnt. All in all, it was a good sandwich. Too often the bread is toasted too much; this was a light toast, just right. The French onion soup had the right flavor, but no croutons. Missed them. The staff was very friendly, and my husband's blueberry pancakes were delicious. However, I ordered the Gouda scramble and both the eggs and sausage were cold when they were brought out. My husband's bacon was also cold. Probably just an odd occurrence, and I bet the Gouda scramble is probably great when warm. read more

Ok, so I'm really late to the party on this one, but we just went for the first time and we were completely impressed. The food was amazing and pretty cheap, service was good, atmosphere was good and everything was nice and clean. We will absolutely be returning as often as possible. Love love love the food at Split Rock. The service is fast and the waitresses are all super friendly. I love how the interior is set up inside. The coffee is good and the food has unique selections, options that come with smoked gouda cheese among some other things. I am pretty picky about my food when I am out to eat because I figure if I am going to pay for someone to make me something it should be better than I can make it myself. But then again, you also have the fact that you aren't having to slave over your food and someone else is. So theres that. This is right by the church we go to so if we are ever in a hurry we know that this place will be an easy fast bite to grab before heading over there. read more

Stopped here a few months ago for breakfast. Love the building and the staff are very nice. Had an egg scramble with veggies. It was nothing special. the potatoes that came with it were very dry. 5/10 for the egg scramble. 2/10 for the potatoes. I had a decaf coffee which was acceptable 6/10. The toast was supposed to be wholewheat, but it was not so 2/10 for that. Waitress was very nice 8/10 I would not eat breakfast here again, but I know several people who have had lunch and like it so I may give the lunch a try. read more

My hubby and I were going to eat at Hops Grill but it was closed for lunch. We happened to see the Split Rock and decided to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised by the open yet quaint atmosphere and friendly staff. I had the BLT which had more lettuce than I'm used to - but the bacon and spread used were so good! Coffee was extra hot. Breakfast burrito with hollandaise sauce was pretty good. Breakfast potatoes were a little undercooked and needed salt. Portions are big and overall the food was pretty good. Service was about average. Price was fair. read more

My entire family loves eating at Split Rock Cafe. The adults love the menu options--from salads, burgers and sandwiches--to new dinner menu items like swordfish tacos and much more! AND they serve breakfast all day. When I eat here I feel like I am eating fresh, healthy foods that I could not easily make at home. They have competitive kids' menu pricing, items my children love, and really go out of their way to make sure that kids are entertained while waiting for their meal. The live evening music was also a treat. I felt that the music was of a quality that is hard to find in this area. My only suggestion would be that those ordering salads felt they would have liked them a little larger. We love the building the restaurant is housed in--historic with brick accents--just beautiful! For a almost 60 dollar bill, it was not what I was expecting. Went in with a group and half of our meals were cold, like they were sitting under a lamp for a few minuets. My turkey sandwich was a good CONCEPT, but was very very poorly executed. Half my table got breakfast and there scrambles were dry and brown. The other half got lunch (including me) which looked slightly better. The service was so-so, never had a full water glass, but we weren't bothered. Great quaint and quiet atmosphere with authentic and rustic feel. Very open with high ceilings. Like to have breakfast here as the prices are in line with most other places, but the quality is much better. Parking is a challenge. Not much around but on the streets or the parking lot on 3rd st down the alley. Be careful not to park in the several "30 minute" spots also on the street, unless you are popping in for a quick drink. read more

I like this place for years now. Nice ambience. I returned for lunch after a long time away and I found the bread for sandwiches to not be the whole wheat, substantial bread I've had here in the past but a store-bought very weak whole wheat bread. I hope this shortcut can be fixed as it literally ruined my sandwich. I still love this place. Please fix this : ) read more

I love this place! When I have the chance to eat out, this is one of my top choices. They have these amazing huge salads with spring greens, and tons of toppings. The balsamic vinaigrette is wonderful! If you are looking for a burger, they have excellent burgers with tasty, hot fries. The buns are from a local artesian bakery, which are the best! We had the French toast and a scramble. The toast was perfect, thick bread, just the right amount of chew to it. The scramble was generously portioned with sausage and other mix ins. They don't cram you in. Plenty of space here. read more

Went to the Split Rock this morning for breakfast. Their special was Chicken Fried Steak. This was terrible, the steak was not tough, it was never petrified. Gravy was tasteless and the potatoes tasted like they had been cooked in rancid oil. Place was clean, service and staff were great...food not so good. Will not be back. read more

This is located in a pretty building that is very open and relaxed. We enjoyed our breakfast (blueberry pancakes and coffee in particular were good - my husband wasn't that impressed with the Gouda scramble). Our waitress was very sweet but the wait for food was long (it wasn't busy and we ordered pancakes and eggs essentially) and some of the food was cold when we got it. We ate at Split Rock Cafe twice on our recent trip to Glacier National Park from Mississippi. The food was delicious and the service was timely and professional. We were pleased that the salads had great mixed greens (no iceberg lettuce). We ate breakfast and lunch there, and both were fantastic. The food was fresh with quality ingredients. The staff was friendly and the owner stopped by both visits to speak with us. The atmosphere is family friendly with the music at the right level for customers to be able to enjoy conversation at the table. Stopped in for lunch when we first arrive in Kalispell. Food was good and the decor was very comfortable. I had the chicken philly sandwhich and a cup of the egg drop chicken soup. Both were very good and what you'd expect to get from a diner-like restaurant. My wife had the black bean burger. It wasn't mushy and was big on flavor. best food I had in Kalispell! After we checked into the Grand Kalispell hotel, we walked down the street to find a place a place for lunch... and figured this sounded interesting. best decision we made. The burger was so amazing, that it didn't even need any fixings... and the chicken sandwich was spectacular. it was a chicken breast cooked to perfection, on a perfectly toasted bun. The waitresses were all very nice, and for as run down as we were after traveling, they were super helpful and complimentary! We spent a week in montana, and the whole time, we didn't find a burger or chicken sandwich better than we had here. The building is a historic one with a really neat past, and all the employees were happy to tell the story of it. When we got our food it looked beautiful, and the latte was great, that's what the one star is for: presentation, it would be 0 stars if not for that. But when the food got to our table, the order was wrong. (I ordered the California Benedict with fruit, not potatos) the food was very bland and greasy and made us feel sick before we even left. The server didn't check on us a single time, and when she gave us our check she didn't even ask how the food was. A huge disappointment considering there was only two other tables. I've recently been complaining there is nowhere in Kalispell to enjoy brunch on Sundays. And then, I stumbled upon Split Rock cafe! Open 7 days a week, they are exactly what I was looking for. Cute interior, great atmosphere and service. The coffee was wonderful and our food was delicious- the California Benedict for breakfast was my favorite!
