I…read morewant to preface this review by saying I had never been horseback riding before so I was sort of nervous about not knowing what to expect, but everyone we interacted with was super friendly and made me feel at ease. To set it up, I filled out a form on their website and then chatted with Kathy via email. She was very easy to communicate with and answered all my questions thoroughly. She was even accommodating to a last minute schedule change due to weather, which we appreciated! When it finally came to the day of our ride, we drove out to Coupland, which was about 40 mins away from where we were staying in Austin. Once we arrived, we had to drive down a long, rocky, dirt road for around half a mile. I wasn't aware that it would be that far down the dirt road, so I began to worry that we might be in the wrong place. So, I gave Kathy a call, and she assured me we just had to keep driving down the road. So, my advice for future visitors is to be prepared to drive down a rocky road until it ends, and then you're there! Once we did arrive, we met a handful of very friendly folks. They had us sign paperwork and borrow boots and helmets. Then they let us choose our horses and practice in a little corral before heading on the trail. Again, I want to reiterate how I had absolutely zero experience riding a horse and they did a great job of being patient and reassuring with us. Our guide, Bailey, then led us on a lovely ride around the farm, for a little over an hour. Bailey was so friendly and easy to talk with, and had great energy. She stopped to take photos of us several times which was great. Our horses pretty much just followed her horse and we didn't have to do much work at all in directing them. The property was beautiful and remote, and our ride was calm and serene. Just what we were looking for. Overall, our trail ride at Tri-Star was a fantastic experience and made for a really special way to celebrate my partner's 30th birthday. Thank you so much!

I have a sign up to leave my horses mask on due to her eye and Nina keeps taking it off creating eye infections for me to pay for and blaming me and almost lost my horses eye. The disrespect and lack of care and communication is horrible business. There's no accountability and to allow a narcissist like Nina to ruin a farm and hurt animals is insane. I wish this farm all the best - they need to keep the care of animals and communication #1 which has been a struggle for years & no change.

My daughter was in an after school girlstart class and just completed her one week online camp session. They had a zoom meeting in the morning followed by a daily project and another zoom meeting in the afternoon to talk about results. The girls engineered a rover to explore Mars, went over genetics, created a double helix dinosaur dna model and, built a light up logo. They also studied sutures for surgical procedures which they practiced on stuffed animal patients. The final project was to program an ozobot with color coded paths they designed on their own. On the last day of camp the girls discussed goals they had for themselves and their futures in the STEM field. Girlstart empowers girls to be successful, brave, and resilient. We will definitely re enroll for after school classes and summer camp!

It's a top-notch organization as far as I'm concerned. We have been to the past two Starry Nights events and my daughter can't stop taking about them. "When are we going back?" times 10000. My youngest has attended many summer camps at Switch Willo Stables two Summers in a row now. If she could change one thing about the camp, I am pretty sure she would have the campers spend more time actually riding the horses. Even though she felt she didn't get enough time riding horses ( I can't recall the amount of time the campers spent riding horses, but it did seem rather short at the time), however, she is always talking about returning to camp. My one complaint about the camp is that the "counselors" are older kids(12,13 and up) who have been riding at Switch Willo for a while. While I did find some of the "counselors" completely competent, others left me wondering if my 7 years old was more mature than her "counselors", which was obviously disconcerting. Fortunately, I never heard of any dangerous situations ( and I know I would have heard about any if they occurred because my daughter takes her "reporting" very seriously.). All in all, my daughter always left camp happy and exhausted, just the way we want her. ;)

He played chess for the first time there and came home and beat me! I've also found it to be the most flexible and most convenient camp in our area which is honestly why we chose it in the first place. We can drop off as early as 7:30 and pick up at 6 which is so helpful for working parents. They also serve snacks and a catered lunch so we can order ahead and don't have to worry about bringing lunch. Adam the owner is super communicative and accessible if we have any questions or need any help at any time (just a phone call or email away).

To my surprise, the day of the party there was only one person who just opened the doors and stood in a corner, interacting with nobody. The front desk also didn't seem to know about the event and sent us to the wrong place; it was all a bit disorganized. I asked why didn't we get what we paid for and have received no response, which I find so disrespectful. Up until that day communication had been great. The facilities are beautiful, but if I wanted the kids to play on their own I would've chosen a park. There are definitely other places in Austin that offer a better service. We were so looking forward to the party and it turned out to be very disappointing.

Children are allowed to roam free and you have to chase after them so they don't get jumped on or kartwheeled across by a large child or adult. It's in their culture at YPW. 3. Full immersion Spanish! In fact, we felt like they were being too easy at one point this year and letting our kids ask questions in English, but after one request from the parents to pay attention to that, it got more rigorous again immediately. My daughter understands them very well and occasionally starts talking to me in Spanish without realizing it, so I can tell she can speak in full sentences now too. I wish we had this option from when she was 3 months old, but this location wasn't around then! But I'm glad we got enrolled as soon as we did. There were 3 planned, hands-on activities for the children (this group included mostly children 8-9 years old), and there was also some "free time" in a large open room, so the kids got some movement. That same room was used to test out the childrens' completed take-home projects. Each of the planned activities was set up in a room with tables and chairs, with one person overseeing each table. For two of the activities, the children took home what they made. There's a party room in the back of the space with a long table, plus space to set up a cake and other snack items. In addition to birthday parties, IdeaLab also offers after-school care and summer day camps, set up by age group. We signed my grandson up for a week of summer camp. There's a wide variety of camp choices, but we expect many will fill up quickly. IdeaLab Kids seems to be a great option for children to have STEM fun in a hands-on environment.
