We had high expectations for this tour. Tonight we had Aten at 1st he seemed very knowledgeable & his information/ stories We're very interesting. Once we left the underground check in area it seemed that Aten got distracted numerous times. He jumped around a lot & never went back to his orginal thought or if I he, I already lost interest. Tonight he had a a few drunken homeless people distract him as well as a few people in our group kept going off topic. Our group was pretty large which made it almost impossible to hear what Aten was saying. We're pretty disappointed. I originally found this company on groupon on a Friday. I noticed on some of the groupon reviews that you needed to book this tour 48 hours in advanced. I thought it would be perfect since I had 48+ hours to book the tour I wanted to go on Sunday night, plus I saw on the company's website that there were still tickets left for the tour. I bought the groupon and sent a reservation email, and got a email that I was not able to use a voucher on that specific date of the tour. I wish I new this information that were were limited spots for customers with vouchers on each tour. Bummer. I had to ask groupon for a refund and book the tour for regular price on the company's website in order to go on the Sunday night tour. The tour itself was great! We had a fun night touring Pioneer Square with Rai. She had a great sense of humor and we stopped around five different buildings. Rai used an iPad to show us different EVP recordings and pictures. For $16 livingsocial.com hooked me up with another great deal--90 min Pioneer Walking tour for two. To get into the Halloween spirit, we decided to go on the tour the night before Halloween. I can't remember our tour guide's name, but she definitely dressed the part which made it extra fun. We met our tour guide and the rest of the walking tour at the Ye Olde Curiosity Shop on the waterfront (please make sure you get there on time so the rest of the tour can start on time :). Once everyone checked in we were off to learn about the ghosts and stories that haunt Pioneer Square. Our tour guide was very well versed and knew a lot about the history behind all the different locations we visited. In hand she was able to show pictures, videos and audio clips on her handy tablet which made everything a lot easier to visualize. This was a lot of fun, something different from the norm...plus it gives you a chance to really get to know the history of Pioneer Square. read more

Gotta be honest, I wouldn't have done this if it wasn't for my Groupon. I've done the Underground, Ride the Ducks, other walking tours...I know my Seattle history. That being said....I had a blast! Ross was our guide and he was great. I loved his use of an iPad to show pics and videos of the people/ghosts he was talking about, and the audio samples he has are cool too. My bf and I are into supernatural things, and I liked that Ross is a true ghost hunter and very knowledgeable about his subject. I went on a ghost tour in New Orleans a few years ago, and it was definitely tourist-y and made to just scare you...this tour is a history lesson as well as being creepy and fun. Just like rides at Disneyland, this ends in their gift shop, and I honestly had no idea their shop was even there, even though I walk around in that area all the time. I definitely will be stopping in to check out their Tarot readings, and hope I can make it this summer on one of their adventures - I think they are doing a couple tours on one of the navy ships in Bremerton. My ONLY complaint was that our tour felt a little crowded. I would have liked it if there weren't as many people. If you are going to go on this tour, don't be an asshat and get drunk beforehand either. Go to the Merchants Cafe (one of the stops on the tour) afterwards. There was a couple in our group that clearly had been drinking and they were annoying if you had to stand by them on the stops. Oh, and if you bring your kids, be forewarned...Seattle doesn't have a 'pristine' history so if you don't want them hearing about murder, brothels, etc. don't bring them. Thanks Ross!! :) read more

Great tour filled with informative information about Seattle, including a lot of unknown events that have occurred since it was founded! I've been on several ghost tours in different cities, and I liked the fact that this one was based on facts and history rather than parlor tricks and cheap scares. I haven't ever really walked around Pioneer Square before, and I have to say, it's a very, um, diverse neighborhood. It's probably not the safest place to be after dark, so if you plan on staying around after the tour, make sure you have a friend or two to keep you company. The walk itself is pretty easy, just make sure to wear comfortable shoes and a jacket! Oh, and be prepared to have some of the more lively locals make comments as you're walking around. Ross was our tour guide, who also happens to be one of the company's owners. Apparently he's been on some of those TV shows that involve ghost hunting (you know the ones I'm talking about). At any rate, he was really friendly, funny, and seemed very passionate about what he does. All in all, this was a pretty fun experience. We ended up heading back to Merchant's Cafe after the tour was over and grabbed some drinks and an order of those cheese curds Ross was talking about (which were AMAZING by the way). Absolutely loved the experience! I didn't quite catch the tour guide name, but I know he's the one that wrote the book Spooked in Seattle. He's very engaging, clear explanations, filled with lots of information and showed us pictures and voice recordings. Also the fact that my friends and I are going to the one starts at 8.15 PM, plus we're all just bunch of chickens...we totally got the thrill and enjoyed every minute of it. He went on and explain us about the stuff the displayed on the tour office after the tour is done, he also patiently answer our questions. I'm telling you, they have some pretty weird stuff there in their office you might find interesting. Overall we like it, it was fun and a new experience for us. read more

Jerome was a great guide. He was funny, informative, and very entertaining. I learned a lot about the history of the city that I didn't know. Took the tour today with my sister (both of our first time on the tour and second time in Seattle) we both loved it. Very informative and creepy and hearing evps, and seeing pictures/videos and hearing accounts made it all the better. Anita was great and you can tell she really loved what she does. The best part was going into the underground in the dark at the end of the tour. The Turner Joy ghost tour was awesome. We had such a good time, it was creepy but not scary. Ross was educated on the history of the boat and on the use of equipment. It does start out in a creepy downstairs room but you walk around Pioneer Square, see different landmarks and get a dose of Seattle history. It was cold so I wish we could've gone inside more places but it was still fun. This is essentially a parade through the life of a paranormal investigator. He has all manner of ghastly curiosities, a fun museum setup below street-level, and a delightfully spooky narrative to share. If you are in Seattle and have any time at all, take one of their tours. The Deluxe Tour is only available on certain days; if you can take it, definitely do so. It's a perfect evening's capstone for goths, paranormal buffs, historians, and the generally weird. We went into Ye Olde Curiosity Shop and found that a "Ghost tour" was just getting ready to leave. On a whim, we quickly paid $13 a piece and went outside with about 16 other people. The guide for the tour was Ross Allison who is president and founder of AGHOST (Advanced Ghost hunters of Seattle Tacoma. He has been investigating paranormal activities for 15 years. It was an interesting tour, although they don't currently go into the Pike Place market (a competing tour goes there, but there was talk of combining the tours) nor to Pioneer Square area, where the underground tour runs. He was fairly knowledgeable of Seattle history, although he did get a few facts wrong. He talked about sites where his group has done investigations in the area, as well as some other places. It was an interesting tour, and he was an interesting guide. We didn't see any ghosts, but there have been some experiences on his prior tours - no guarantee, but you might! read more

Ross, our guide, was a great speaker and very well-prepared for the tour. He had his talking points down to a science and knew exactly how to present the videos and pictures on his tablet, so that the whole group saw. I haven't been on any other ghost tour before, but judging from my experience I didn't feel that I was being cheated and Ross did a good job telling stories, doing his research, and of course any testimony of ghost activity. We got there a little, but found the group walking and joined right into the group with no problem. It was clear that Ross was not just a guide, but a person who has made paranormal research his career, which adds a lot to the presentation of the tour. A friend of mine took the same tour, which he heard banging from one of the stops. I think this lends some credibility as our group didn't get some banging sound, so it's likely not another worker is hiding at the location and making these noises purposely for the tour. I think doing a live EVP for like 30 seconds would of really enhance the tour. Maybe if a tour group got lucky they'll catch something and add to the tour's mystique. Awesome experience overall. Only reason I give 4 is that the tour was a tad too censored for the horror stories (probably for the children). If I could, it would be a 4.5. read more

I think that tours like this is all about the guide you get. We could barley hear the guide over the 40+ people that were on the tour. The stories were obviously memorized, but not well, a couple of times she had to restart the story because she lost her train of thought. Really she was just regurgitating facts. Most of the tour was based on pics and EVPs that were recorded on an ipad. The tour guide didn't really know how to use it amd needed help twice. It took forever to see the iPad with all of the people. The lady seemed sweet, but had no story telling ability. We acttually felt a little bad for her. It was an hour and a half and boring. At one point we were next to the light rail station, we thought about bailing but our son thought it was going to get better. I'm sure if we had a better guide it would have been interesting. The structure of the tour was cool and I think if the person was engaging and a good story teller it would have been fun. It wasn't even scary because it was just poorly retold facts. Im a big scaredy cat and but this place really got me spooked. Its a very fun time to go with friends or family. You learn alot about the gruesome history in pioneer square. Then head to the underground section. I thought it was gonna be a larger space but it was still pretty creepy. The air is very heavy . My friend had a little hard time down there cause he was a smoker but he got used to it. Still loved the tour and tour guide! If you want an educational ghost tour, this is the tour to take. I've taken ghost tours thru out the country. This one aims more about facts, and less about seeing a ghost part. Honesty, it feels like the guy who is running it and leading the tours is simi burned out. If he was more engaging, I would have bumped it up a star. I took the walking tour and the once a month investigation underground tour. I think the walking tour would have been the same if we just sat on the chairs and he showed us a slide show cause he was showing a bunch of pictures anyways. Being at the spots, didn't really make a difference on how fast we were going. He sotra of sounded like he was reading it from a book, and kept on reminding us he was an actual investigator. Really wasn't amused with the underground investigation tour. Almost everything that they said they spotted "ghost" sighting in their underground area, had high EMF readings due to electrical stuff everywhere. High EMF are knowing to cause some people who are sensitive to it, to see things that aren't there. I was the one holding the meter and I even made sure I was doing it right. Nothing really happen which was typical according to them. They warned us over and over, that's it is usually boring. I was hoping that they would do more hands on training vs just leaving us alone in rooms till it's time to move to the next one. There was really nobody to ask questions about things with when we were in the rooms. We got herd to the next room, then they would disappeared faster then they came. Talking to the people there, they honesty are interested in things from the investigator's point of view. Which is great. They teach classes down there on how to hunt for ghosts. The place looks like its on it's way to be a pretty cool hang out. The store was odd, it look like it was more for show then a real store. It could be a really cool cafe with some creepy dolls...oddly typical for a place like this. I really wanted to really like it but it was just ok. read more

This is for their haunted cabaret show which wasn't a tour. I wish I could get that hour of my life back. I was so confused since all the other reviews have said how fantastic it was...no tour, just a bunch of overweight adults playing very unflattering and revealing dress up, using profanity (for the sake of using it), providing pop culture trivia and horrible singing numbers on things that included the word "fire" in it as their way of educating on the Seattle fire that happened in 1889. Oh my bad, that's the 1 thing I learned, there was a fire in 1889 and that's it. Based on the other trivia like "what makes a fire", not sure a fire even existed in Seattle back then. Offered drinks out of a mini fridge at the beginning that wasn't cold (I think there were 4 bottle to choose from total). They opened up the place not even in character and started late (which even if you are a bad actor, that's at least acting 101...don't break character especially in your $12 costume meant for someone a quarter of your size). I ended up laughing at some of their jokes because I felt sorry for them. Thank god there was an intermission that we could leave. I kept thinking that maybe it was Seattle humor that I just didn't get until several other people were leaving and another couple asked me "Was it supposed to be like this? When the actors kept saying all of these other acts didn't show up for the cabaret show, I thought maybe that is actually what happened instead of it just being part of their bit." The four of us were disgusted and embarrassed for the group. Maybe it was just the tours that are great...but my husband and I can't even bare the thought of putting ourselves through anything with this company now. Hope they don't do any more shows and stick to tours. Pretty big mistake on their part. read more

I was so pleased with the tour, I couldn't wait to write this review and share my experience. I moved to Seattle a year ago and work and spend most of my free time downtown. My boyfriend lives out of town and taking this tour was his idea. I was initially concerned about being scared or unknowingly treading on some sort of evil spirit but the tour's intention is not to scare but educate (although the drunk homeless people wondering around late at night can be a bit scary). Our tour guide was a lady, and she came dressed up in an all black Victorian type of outfit. She was very informative and we heard roughly about 10 stories and some of which were complimented with pictures, videos and sound bites from an iPad she was carrying. We went into one location and had a chance to take pictures of a hallway where a spirit is specifically seen to hang out and my boyfriend caught a strange bent light object on his phone! I never felt scared but I definitely felt light headed in two specific places we went to. I thought it was cool because I walk past some of these places every day and it's kind of eerie to know that lives were lost on that specific side walk/hotel room and how so many people are unaware of the stories and history behind some of these buildings. These stories will resonate with me forever and I am looking forward to doing more tours with Spooked in Seattle and purchasing the book! read more

My boyfriend and I took this tour on 1/11/13. It was a BLAST! If you can take a tour with Ross, I highly recommend him. He was funny, knowledgable, open to questions, and great at making sure everyone in our large group was able to see and hear all of the visual and audio aids. I'm from Seattle and will definitely be adding this tour on my list of what to tell tourists to do in town! These guys are GhostHunters, not someone just trying to make some cash on the side. They know what they are talking about and are passionate about their work and it shows. When we weren't able to go to a particular floor in The Arctic club because there was a party, Ross gave a sincere "Dang It" showing me he wanted us to have a great, full experience. Visiting Seattle for a few days and decided to do the Bonus Pioneer Square Ghost Tour. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed the tour. It was very informative and we enjoyed the videos, pictures and stories that were told. Our guide was Kim. She made the tour really enjoyable with her jokes. Very funny. Be prepared for interesting smells in the underground and throughout Pioneer Square. Overall, great experience but wish we would have experienced something at the locations mentioned. Definitely will look into doing the other tours and experiences if ever in Seattle again. read more
