I was so pleased with the tour, I couldn't wait to write this review and share my experience. I moved to Seattle a year ago and work and spend most of my free time downtown. My boyfriend lives out of town and taking this tour was his idea. I was initially concerned about being scared or unknowingly treading on some sort of evil spirit but the tour's intention is not to scare but educate (although the drunk homeless people wondering around late at night can be a bit scary). Our tour guide was a lady, and she came dressed up in an all black Victorian type of outfit. She was very informative and we heard roughly about 10 stories and some of which were complimented with pictures, videos and sound bites from an iPad she was carrying. We went into one location and had a chance to take pictures of a hallway where a spirit is specifically seen to hang out and my boyfriend caught a strange bent light object on his phone! I never felt scared but I definitely felt light headed in two specific places we went to. I thought it was cool because I walk past some of these places every day and it's kind of eerie to know that lives were lost on that specific side walk/hotel room and how so many people are unaware of the stories and history behind some of these buildings. These stories will resonate with me forever and I am looking forward to doing more tours with Spooked in Seattle and purchasing the book! read more

My boyfriend and I took this tour on 1/11/13. It was a BLAST! If you can take a tour with Ross, I highly recommend him. He was funny, knowledgable, open to questions, and great at making sure everyone in our large group was able to see and hear all of the visual and audio aids. I'm from Seattle and will definitely be adding this tour on my list of what to tell tourists to do in town! These guys are GhostHunters, not someone just trying to make some cash on the side. They know what they are talking about and are passionate about their work and it shows. When we weren't able to go to a particular floor in The Arctic club because there was a party, Ross gave a sincere "Dang It" showing me he wanted us to have a great, full experience. I loved the way Aten (amazing tour guide) started off the tour by saying that he believes in science and if science can't prove what's going on, then he's led to believe in something unexplainable. I guess I really liked his approach because it wasn't shoving the idea of whether or not ghosts are real. I consider myself a very open person so I found this tour very intriguing. Aten was very informational of not only the history of paranormal activity in Pioneer Square but of Seattle's history. I'm a scaredy cat but this wasn't too bad for me. I was surprised with an evening out! I had no idea this was here and I've been wanting a cool/spooky tour for a while. Things happened. Not like visible ghosts and everything, but a strange connection to the past like someone else's memories are walking through you. You're taken to several historic Seattle locations were Ross shares accounts from the past, evp's, and personal anecdotes. Whether you believe in the phenomena or not, it's worth it for the history! Really disappointed. It was overpriced for what it was...a brief walk through of one underground space. The tour guide talked more about her butthole than any haunted stories. The tour started and ended at bars (that were not haunted) even though this was labeled as a "haunted pub tour". I wasn't expecting a spooky experience, but at least some interesting Seattle history. Graham was our tour guide and he did a good job. We were a smaller group, about a dozen of us. We passed other tour groups that had up to 30 people. Group size would play a role in my enjoyment since video and audio segments are presented on an iPad. Graham made sure we all had a chance to see and listen. I did the underground tour a few years ago through another company - I much prefer Spooked's ghost tour since you still get a little history, you still visit the underground, but you also get a theme. I'll be bringing my future visitors to Merchant's Cafe - I've lived here five years and never heard of this place before, but there is an interesting historical tidbit associated with it, along with several spooky stories. This was my mom's last night visiting and we had no plans, so on a whim I booked this tour 3 hours before the tour start time. Weird coincidence - while we were in the Death Museum waiting for the tour to begin, my Mom's Facebook notifications informed us that "on this day..." six years ago we were doing the ghost tour in New Orleans. Ross met the crowd dressed in full costume with a top hat and traditional Victorian gentleman formal wear. This really sets the mood for the adventure, but don't be fooled. While he appears to have stepped out from another time and place, he has many modern items hiding in his tote bag. Those secrets will be revealed. The first of his modern-day helpers come to life immediately. The tour guide wears a microphone to help the crowd hear the stories and directions. Ghost tours aren't for everyone and this is my first and will probably be my last ghost tour. You can tell the tour guide loves what he does and is really passionate about being a ghost hunter but again, this isn't for everyone. While the stories and the history he told about Seattle were interesting, all the things about there being hauntings and ghosts got boring. The worst part of the tour was everytime we went underground. It smelled really gross and would get hot and stuffy from so many people being in an enclosed space without any ventilation. I found a living social deal for this tour and got 2 tickets for the 1 regular price ticket. It's not THAT much to begin with but you're still saving money! read more

Got the Groupon so we could go on the tour with my sis and her hubby (who were visiting from Manila) and we had an awesome time! Our guide was Jerome, and he was great. Before going on the tour, I read the yelp reviews and was pretty skeptical about how high they were. I mean, seriously, how can a ghost tour (without actual ghosts) be that highly rated? But I have to admit, it was really fun. I won't give out much details about the tour itself (I think the other reviews cover that already) but will say that our money was well spent and I will gladly recommend this tour to anyone with a sense of humor and an open mind. read more

I loved it! Our tour guide was Aten and he was just great! He is very knowledgable about Seattle, its history and its hauntings. I definitely suggest this tour to anyone. Good for kids too! The tour takes you around Pioneer Square - we went at 6pm. It was the perfect time for the tour. If you plan on doing it -make sure to wear comfortable shoes. Its not a crazy, long, walking tour, but comfortable shoes are best. Anyway, Aten was great. He wears Victorian clothes -not just for the tour! He was telling us that he wears them as his normal attire. Pretty cool! All in all, this is the best. Probably my favorite thing to do in Seattle. We went on the Saturday tour at 8:30 and we had so much fun. Kim was an amazing tour guide. It was historically very informative and at times I was truly really spooked. It's so worth the hour and half of your time if you are into learning about haunted places. We couldn't believe how good kim was considering there were some obnoxious, rude people on the tour who were talking while she was. Those people eventually left. I think they were expecting a haunted house. This isn't that, so don't book this tour if that is what you are wanting. My fiancé woke up this morning and said he woke up in the middle of the night and was scared because of the ghost tour. read more

We went on this tour yesterday, we enjoyed the ghost stories and learning some creepy history about Seattle. The thing that we did not enjoy was the use of an IPad to play sound bits and show pictures of the paranormal. To be honest trying to play sound bits on an IPad on a busy Seattle street at 6P.M. is just silly. The stories of weird Seattle were great, I think we would rather just have heard more stories or made and additional stop on the tour. In my personal opinion the IPad pictures just took away from the tour made it less enjoyable and super cheesy. It seemed cheesy and photo shopped. They recordings easily could be faked. Our tour guide was energetic and seemed to know his shit about old Seattle, I would recommend the tour to friends. Loved this tour. I believe that ghost tours always are a great way to find out some of the folk tales, and history of a locality and this one does not disappoint. We originally signed up for the waterfront tour, but that did not work out. We instead ended up taking the Pioneer Square tour and our guide did a phenomenal job telling us some great stories & history of the area. My only complaint is the first two spots on the tour it was very difficult to hear the tour guide due to the traffic from the highway, but once we got into Pioneer square this was not an issue. Great use of a tablet to show us pictures of what some of the people looked like as well as some historical pictures of the areas and buildings. I highly recommend this tour! read more

My friend and I went on the standard tour and it was a lot of fun. Ross was very intelligent and knew his stuff. He took us into many buildings which was great because it got a bot cold outside for a 90 minute walk. I really enjoyed when we were able to go into the Hotel that used to be a gentlemen s club very interesting stories. The other people on the tour were really nice too. Had EVPs and pictures to share with us to add to the creepy ambiance, as well as the awesome collection of haunted artifacts and documents in the spooked in Seattle building where they are going to have the death museum later which we will definitely visit. They have a Tacoma tour as well as the haunted trolley tour which is definitely something we are going to do in the future. We went with a group of friends last weekend using a groupon. It was odd and unusual, just what you'd expect. We had a few drinks prior and I'm glad we did! It helped make it more intriguing. We lost some people during the tour and a random person joined the group during our stroll through the streets so that was entertaining. The history was nice and the ghost stuff was well, ghost stuff. If you have a couple hours to kill and want basic history of Seattle then go. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't great. It was eh. I recommend this tour, especially before taking any of the others, since you'll get some insight into parts of the other tours they won't share with you. Met the tour at Ye Old Curiosity Shoppe down on the waterfront. I had some friends from out of town and it made for a great evening. Being the history buff that I am, I enjoyed hearing about events in Seattle I hadn't heard before. And I do love a good ghost story! Ross the guide was great. He kept us interested and the group moving along. We visited Kells and Butterfield Building that I actually know quite a bit of history about that wasn't brought up on the tour, but enjoyed it nonetheless. We did have a couple people in my party that had trouble walking, but there were plenty of places for them to sit while we talked at different sites. I've taken the Pioneer Square tour as well and was just as pleased with that tour. HIghly recommend the tours, whether you're a history or a ghost story fan. read more

I loved the USS Turner Joy Tour so much I did it twice! Ross was our tour guide. He was sincere, accommodating, and obviously passionate about his work. The tours aren't gimmicky or campy...there is no canned showmanship or glamorization. That's what makes Spooked in Seattle so great! You'll be provided with a back story then given the opportunity to branch off into small groups to explore and draw your own conclusions. You get to intermix with your group rather than just follow a tour guide in a single file line. There is open participation and everyone in the tour left as friends. We embarked on this tour an enthusiastic party of four armed with suspended disbelief and ready to buy into the spookiness. I'd read reviews for the tour, and since some of our party is vaguely interested in the paranormal (and one of them spooked at even the thought of the paranormal...) we thought it'd be an entertaining night out in Seattle to host our out of town guests. I think perhaps it was simply bad luck that we were matched with a tour guide that didn't fit our vibe. We arrived donning party hats and glow bracelets, met a few other enthusiastic couples in the group and had a few laughs before the tour commenced. We made it through the first 2-3 stops (we were at the stop just past the Pioneer Square hotel) before unfortunately requiring a bathroom break, and at that point our party of four decided to spend our time elsewhere. It looks like many of the high star reviews were for different tour guides (Jerome and Ross), and I'm not here to insult the tour guide we had. Perhaps our group size was too large to engage successfully (we started with a group of 15 or so?). Perhaps she was put off by us cheering somewhat obnoxiously when she introduced herself? My husband and I took time off to have drinks with our out of town guest since they weren't enjoying the tour, and then as we were planning to grab some amazing Bruchetta at Cafe Bengodi (5 stars, MUST have), we saw the spooked in Seattle headquarters right next door. I decided to stick my head in and follow up- just figure out if I'd missed the mark with my expectations, or if perhaps the tour on this night was not up to snuff. The two gentleman that were in the headquarters were attentive, courteous, honest about the contents of the tour and apologetic about my dissatisfaction of the tour. I have admittedly never been on a ghost tour, or the underground tour, but another member of our party indicated that the underground tours she'd participated in had been much more dynamic and engaging. We ended up staying at the headquarters until the tour caught up with us (the tour ended at the headquarters). It was notable that the tour had lost a few more participants by this point in the tour...so it seems we weren't the only drop outs. We were offered a chance to try the tour again, and were also asked if there was feedback we could give to make the tour better. I don't know if it's worth lining up the childcare and making the trip back to Seattle for another ghost tour- and I'm not in any way qualified to give advice. My only thought would be perhaps to leave more left unsaid- take advantage of the wait time and the pregnant pause. I found it hard to feel spooked when every moment was being narrated to death. (Again, please note- I did not stay for the whole tour!) While I would not go on this tour again, I may give a shot to one of the hunts at the Merchant Cafe or USS Turner. And while my experience was less than stellar- dozens of positive yelp reviews suggest that my experience was likely the minority (but- it's notable that I didn't see a single positive review for the tour guide we had...I suspect she may have been the tour guide referred to as "too happy" - but I'm hesitant to align myself in any way with that ludicrous review). read more
