It's a small place. Server was quick and kind. The food was phenomenal. I'm a stickler for real good food and this hit spots I didn't know were needing to be hit. Although, my better half forgot to say "gravy on the side/no gravy" (he doesn't like gravy??) he still enjoyed it. "Oh wow. This is so good" rarely comes out of his mouth. Even a sandwich smothered in gravy! The Benedict: all parts were cooked to perfection. "This is a perfectly poached egg!" "Mmh I want so much more of this hollandaise." Awesome brunch spot! My wife and I came here with 3 friends, and everyone loved their food! We ordered the huevos verdes and fries, and others got 2 different kinds of eggs benedict, the Beast, and the cinnamon roll pancake with bacon drizzle. Was looking for a good breakfast spot Saturday morning and this was one I found. Called prior to make sure they were open. My plan was for takeout but they strongly enforce social distancing, offer great indoor and outdoor seating and the wait was only 15 minutes. The menu had so many great things. We enjoyed our food. The waffle was great and the cinnamon roll pancakes left you wanting more. The strawberry lemonade mimosa was delicious especially for someone who stays away from mimosas because we don't like orange juice. Great customer service. One of my go-to's for breakfast/brunch in Federal Hill. Usually isn't as long of a wait as some of the more well-known places around the corner, and if there is a wait, you can go next door to Cross Bar and have a drink while you play ping pong to pass the time. Get the chicken biscuit sandwich; you won't be disappointed. The fried oyster dish is excellent as well. While the coffee can't quite stand up to the likes of Ceremony or Counter Culture, I appreciated the variety of roasts and bottomless offering! The black bean chili was perfect for a cold Sunday morning, and well-seasoned. I loved the combo of grains in the 3 grain porridge, which hit the spot on the breakfast front. Everything here is DELICIOUS. It is a little pricey but you definitely get what you pay for. The grits are creamy, cheesy, and perfect. My wonderful daughter and I visited Spoons Restaurant. We were celebrating my daughters birthday. I enjoyed the food and the service. The oysters and grits was delicious. The oysters were lightly fried, just the way I like them. There were a bit too many mushrooms for me; however they did excite my taste buds. The seating is a little tight. This is one of my favorite spots for breakfast/brunch in Baltimore. Their food is hearty and plentiful for the price. The service here is friendly and welcoming and the actual place has enough space inside where you dont feel cramped. Their biscuits here are solid. During my visit i got the beast, which is a biscuit with fried chicken, eggs, bacon, covered in gravy. yes it is over the top and yes it is totally amazing. The biscuit and gravy are perfect and the chicken is well cooked and seasoned and not dry at all. It will leave you stuffed and happy. Also during my visit shared the cinnamon roll pancake, I don't know how they do it but it tastes exactly as the name implies. The cinnamon roll pancake is definitely a must try recommendation if you have a sweet tooth. The other breakfast options from the eggs, bacon, coffee were all solid. I'm not in fed hill often but this is a place that I would make the effort get to for a delicious breakfast/brunch in Baltimore. read more

If you're on cheat day, this is probably your best brunch spot to yolo it. If everyday is your cheat day, that also works *high-five*. Spoons has a variety of brunch selections from HEAVY, heart attack-inducing dishes to classic benedicts and omelettes. I have tried the Beast, fried oysters and grits, deep-fried sweet cream stuffed french toast and they were all so fricking delicious! I would suggest sharing the dishes with your friends/company as they can be very heavy, individually. They come in generous portions as well. Overall, definitely one of the best brunch spots in Baltimore and very instagram-worthy, which is always a plus ;) read more

Food is excellent but service is lacking. We have never been made to feel welcome here, and the most of the servers are dismissive and sometimes downright rude. As a former server, I understand that when a place is busy it can get overwhelming, but you cannot take your frustrations out on your customers. I came here on a Saturday and sat at the bar. The bar staff seemed offended that I chose to dine at the bar and treated me as such. Everything was really hurried. They barely interacted with me at all. The food was decent...I was afraid to ask for anything else because they seemed so annoyed. Mind you, I was the only customer sitting at the bar and there were a few open tables. I am not sure why they treated me the way they did, but I would hope in 2017 that they would treat all paying customers with respect and dignity. I suppose I wasn't deserving of such treatment. In addition to my dine-in order I placed a carryout order, which was also an "interesting" experience. I was advised that they normally don't allow carryout orders, but they would make an exception because I was dining in. Ok, thanks for making an exception, I guess. I would have preferred that they kept that information to themselves. I heard great things about this place, and hoped that it would be a future brunch spot for my out-of-town guests. But I will never dine at this restaurant again and will be sure that none of my friends nor colleagues dine at this establishment either. read more

Yesterday, we came back for breakfast. 10 minute wait for 2 was not bad. We both selected the Eggs Benedict Florentine, so I switched to the Southern Benedict. The Florentine was a perfect 10. The Southern was a little dry; the pulled pork itself could have used more of its own sauce and the dish was so full of the pork the Holendeise sauce did not go very far, and so I added a fair amount of hot sauce to the dish. The potatoes were crispy skinned and tender, and the fresh fruit was indeed fresh and flavorful. I am not changing my first t star rating, but if this was my first review it would be a 4, which I consider great rating, but I gave Spoons a 5 in December, and I'll stick with a 5 because it's a great breakfast joint. read more

Very rustic and relaxing atmosphere that offered a wonderful treat for Thursday morning. Clean and tidy though might be a little hard to move around for a large party or handicap individual as they have a hefty step in the middle of the restaurant that extends all the way across. Food came out quickly and everyone was friendly with a nice smile. I took a chance and ordered the infamous 'beast'. Was not disappointed in the least. This sandwich is a little bit of eveything; the gravy has good spices and they are not shy about thick chucks of sausage in it. Damn near ate it all with two pieces of biscuit to spare. Husband loved their breakfast potatoes and said it was among the better seasoned he had. The grain bread was delicious with a sort of sweet flavor that you could enjoy without butter. I went here for breakfast and had the greasy spoon. I substituted the home fries for grits. The grits were very good as well as the eggs. Unfortunately the Turkey sausage was not very good and had a small bone in it which almost chipped a tooth. I had the coffee and the macchiato. They both were average. My companion had the cinnamon roll pancakes and she thoroughly enjoyed their presentation and flavor. I would recommend this place but I'll try another spot before I'd return. read more

There was a 40 minute wait, but they text you and let you know when your table will be ready. As a visitor though, didn't know that there was a bar which was first come first serve. Went to spoons on our way to Philly last weekend. We had what is referred to as the beast #eatthebeast and the Southern Benedict. The beast was pretty good, it was a buttermilk biscuit on top of a fried chicken breast, on top of bacon, ON TOP of a fried get all drenched in sausage gravy. The second dish we had, the southern benedict was alright. It was a biscuit with pulled pork and a poached egg, topped with a chili hollandaise sauce. The pulled pork was a hit or miss and totally depends on the person. I really enjoyed the pulled pork; however, others in my party found the pork too sweet for the dish. It's small but very nice. I was amazed to find something so beautiful in area with a lot of bars. I am definitely going back service was great. I was seated at the bar and normally most places don't allow you to enjoy your food before they're asking if your okay but not them, I was able to enjoy a couple bits before they came to asked if I was okay and it wasn't just one the work together collective to make sure the experience was exceptional. Amazing food!! There is a wait on the weekends but only 20 mins. Very small place but seating is not so close that you feel claustrophobic. Food comes out super fast once your order is placed.
