Went here looking for ski goggles. It was very difficult to find someone to help. We waited quite dine time before finding a clerk. The store is well laid out and clean. There is a wide variety of items and is a good place to find anything sports related from cycling, skiing, water sports, etc. Not so much if you're an elite athlete looking for the best but it is good for an average person. Disrespectful Service by Sim I had a very disappointing experience at the Sport Chek store in Metropolis at Metrotown because of a sales associate named Sim. I was shopping for running shoes and comparing different styles, so I took a few display shoes from the rack and asked her for the available sizes. Instead of simply helping me, the first thing she said was that I needed to put all the shoes back on the wall. She repeated the same instruction again while handing me another pair of shoes, reminding me to put every shoe back in the box and on the wall after trying them. When I asked for another pair to compare, she questioned whether I was really going to take them out. Throughout my visit, I felt like I was being constantly reminded of the same thing instead of being treated like a customer looking to make a purchase. Before leaving, I carefully returned every shoe to its correct box and placed them back on the proper rack. While I was on my way out, I briefly stopped to look at a clearance display with my friends. At that point, Sim approached me yet again and asked if I had put all the shoes back on the wall. I was honestly shocked. A single polite reminder would have been completely understandable, but being asked the same question repeatedly felt insulting and disrespectful. Because of this experience, I left without buying anything and have no desire to return to this location. read more

But grace eyewear was great they let me try on a few different pairs before I decided. I also have bought a pair of boots, shoes, AirPods on top of the sunglasses. Spent time here. Found what I wanted. Signs all over saying 50% off tanks jackets and shorts Get to the register... yeah. One of them is on the special. The others aren't... but if you sign up for triangle credit card then we will give you like 10 or maybe or was 20% back in points... (points!! Not money off your purchase.... So not usable until NEXT time) Waste of time. Way too pushy. The cashier was all helpful pulling out her phone to plug in the potential savings... but doesn't say a peep that it's not off your current balance at the checkouts.... Until you ask.... Then they tell you it's in points (I asked so how much is my total then if I sign up.....) The last time I shopped here must of been like Christmas time or earlier and I remember you just got like text or email coupons and stuff. I visited the Sport Chek location at Metrotown on June 18, 2025 and I must say I was totally disappointed with the service and knowledge of the staff. I was there to buy baseball cleats which should have only taken a few minutes which turned out to be close to an hour. First of all they sent me to the wrong area for shoes and then after about 1/2 hour they went to get the cleats and came back only to say I had to go to Hard Goods whatever that means. I then proceeded to try and find it in socked feet. When I got to Hard Goods it took a bit but I finally got my cleats. To top it off after waiting in line to pay the cashier she said I couldn't pay cash at that till so I had to line up again to pay. Not pleased at all with the service and don't think I will shop there again. read more

I wanted to get into running longer distances so I went to sport check to purchase running shoes and had a wonderful experience. The sales associate was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They listened to my needs and helped fit me for a pair of running shoes that best suited my feet, as well as gave useful me running tips and advice. Skate sharpening is the best I have found so far besides The Hockey Shop in Surrey and Ice Level in Richmond (which closed a while ago). But if you live in Burnaby or Easy Vancouver, this is the place to go for sharpening. They know their stuff. There are 3 different guys there that have sharpened my skates, and they all do a good job. read more

Well this place is really dependant on what you are looking for. I used to love this store because it's connected with atmosphere and that is a plus because it's a one stop to all sport goods. So I was looking for rock shoes and because atmosphere is no longer there, I have to say I was disappointed. I needed rock shoes since bouldering is a hit now. Now my options is MEC. Well they used to have or I should say one of the few sport check that offer unlimited belt wax for $35 a year for snowboard. Well that is gone. Sadly. But hey have renovated and I have to agree their staff are very friendly. Might not be knowledgable bit definitely very cheery and happy. My younger daughter wanted new runners for the Sun Run. So we ventured in. The selection of runners were mind boggling. The good thing was we got excellent service from the sales staff. And they helped us make the right choice. This is also the go to place for my son for his Hockey equipment. Again, good selection and knowledgeable staff. Brightly lit, clean and well organized. I went to the Metrotown store to buy a basketball hoop for my son, and quickly found it. I spent a total of 6-7 mins in the store. Within that time frame 3 different staff members I passed offered to carry the 50lbs box for me to the front counter or to my car outside. AWESOME SERVICE! When I tried to assemble the system at home, 1 of the long tubes was damaged and wouldn't fit the adjoining tube. I returned to the store within a couple hours and explained the problem. Service/return department quickly gave me a new replacement part. Great service recovery! I am so impressed with my last visit I will be buying all future sports related items from you guys, not Amazon. read more

If you buy in retail, the service is good. But I bought 3 items on their website, 2 of them didn't remove the security tag and I have to go back the store and ask them to remove it. They've always got a good selection of athletic wear (moreso than the downtown one), and there's always a lot of staff around to help you if you need it. Plus, they have some great sales every now and then (family and friends, and end of season clearance). And when those aren't running, you can use your SPC card there as well. I called them once to see if they had an item in stock, and it turns out they were extremely busy that day and I was on hold for over forty minutes. The manager felt terrible about it when I snapped, and apologized profusely. I'm pleased that they didn't just make excuses and actually tried to help me out. I can't deny that this place is my usual go-to spot for sports stuff. Their deals are too good to pass up! But during a busy period their service goes down quite a bit. read more

Our experience at Metrotown's SportChek & Atmosphere is usually average. This mall is busy, and currently the store is going under renovations. Therefore, I wanted to commend on one of their employees, Remi (Remy?) who was working in the Weights/Skates/Bikes department on Saturday, May 24th in the evening. My fiance and I came in looking for a new pair of blades for himself, and Remi was very attentive and knowledgeable. He asked us questions to my fiance's preferences and listened to his answers and suggested skates that might interest him. He brought out two different sizes, as we didn't know if he'd size up or down in the blades, and explained that the one in size 10, was from the previous season. He assured that there may not be any changes in design or performance, and may also have a further discount. Fortunately, the one that my fiance tried, fit him like a glove and we ended up going with it. It happened to be the current model and was on promotion already. Remi never made us feel uncomfortable and tried to push us for purchase. It's rare that you have an employee that chose to listen and ask questions to their customers. Awesome job, Remi! read more

The employees are on commission though, so they're on you like leeches, sometimes. Or if they're not, but they said something to you, once they realize you made a decision to buy something, they'll ask if they can put their sales number on your item so they can get the commission for it. Huge store with decent customer service. They have a good selection of sporting goods. I usually come here for cycling equipment. The prices are fairly standard. The only issue I had here was when I brought my bicycle in for repairs a long while back. The young Asian man who was tending the repair shop area came to take a look at my bike. He needed to flip it upside down first, so without asking for help or saying anything, he grabbed the bike by the handlebars and swung it in the air and tried to land the bike with the seat flat on the ground, but he missed! The end of my seat slammed into the ground and he ended up causing a small tear in the back part of my bicycle seat. He neither acknowledged his error nor made any amends. Don't buy racquets online. I ordered 4 badminton racquets online. They came in a huge box very loosely packed. No covers. These were $100 or more racquets. I have never bought racquets (new) that didn't come with covers. These were name brand as well. I called customer service and they started a claim and was told that they would try to send out covers. Today I got a call and they no longer supply covers for racquets! What? This is unbelievable! This was not posted on their website and a total surprise to me! read more

I bought an shoe on line and I requested a store pick up from the Sport, the soccer shoe Nike Phantom VSN Academy Indoor Turf was only available at the Promenade Mall Store. I placed the order on a Sunday. I contacted the store on the following day , Monday to find out if it is actually in store and if I could come and pick it up. The store clerk said yes. Monday evening I went but after a long wait I was told that I could not take the shoe I would have to repurchase the shoe because an online transaction is different from a n in store one . And I would definitely receive my credit as soon as the paper work was sent to the on line store. I was silly enough to repurchase the item. By the end of December I had not yet received my refund so Josh the sales clerk was extremely helpful and recognized the importance of excellent customer service . He arranged for me to go to the Bolton location in December which was much closer to my home and get my refund and some compensation , however I was unable to get to the Bolton location. On Sunday 10 March I was able to go to the Promenade Mall Sports Chek - I spoke to a young lady Irene - She did the refund which has not yet been credited to my card ... not sure what's happening on Sportschek end. I asked about some form of compensation and she said I would be getting nothing which I interpret as meaning that Sportschek don't care about my business. I am really disappointed with the lack of customer service. I ordered the item on line in November 2018 and it is now March 2019 - no refund has been posted to my credit card and no form of compensation for the delay . read more

Extremely underemployed. I was there to get some shoes, but no one's there to help. I walked around trying to find ​someone, and when I asked her to help me, he told me to wait there and he'll call someone to help as it is not his section. I waited for almost 15 minutes but no one came out. I asked her again, and she asked me to wait again as she will call someone. I waited for around 10 minutes until I decided to leave. Sharing my experience, first time I buy from sportchek online, bought a Suunto Ambit3 Peak Black for a good price (maybe 25% off or something) well, after few days of tracking via Canadapost package arrived, the surprise was that there is a watch package inside but there was no watch!!!! Immediatly I called customer service and barely controlled my anger explained what happened well... they guy said all will be fixed and it is a mistake and they could have grabbed the display watch box instead of a one with the watch in, I received no e.mail or call as customer service guy said to explain when they will send me what I bought and paid 228 CAD for!! I hate shopping here. Sadly, it's the only place that has a good selection of what I need nearby. Shopping at this location is a painful experience. Do not expect any help. The store is staffed mostly by teenagers who really don't give a shit. How they make their targets or any commission at all, I have no idea. Oh right, they try and stick their employee number on your goods when you aren't looking so they can make money for doing eff all. Or they just put their numbers on random goods throughout the store hoping you'll buy them without taking their stickers off. I know how these stores are supposed to work. I used to work at CM before they became Atmosphere at another location, long, long ago. If you weren't licking someone's balls (metaphorically) within a minute of them walking in the store, you were in shit. Now, there was no need to be pushy, but you had to at least greet the customers and ask them if they would like some help finding something. Not once, in the 5 years I have been shopping at the Metrotown location, have I ever been greeted or asked if I need help. And the staff here know nothing about the outdoors, the gear they are selling, or what you would even use anything for. They are clueless. I think I had one helpful guy in the bike department once, but that was it. Case in point - Yesterday I was looking for new running shoes. I went in, and stared at the shoe wall for a good 10 minutes before any staff came by. Finally a guy asked if I needed to try something on. I had questions first. But clearly, despite the guy working in the shoe section, he knew nothing. I knew more about the shoes than him. He just wanted to sell me the expensive shoes. When I asked what made them better he said, "uh..... they have.... gel." Fantastic! He didn't ask to measure my feet or check any of my wear patterns, or anything. I pretty much had to guide him through the process of what he should be asking and looking for. Useless. Then when I wanted to try on shoes he didn't even feel like going and getting any. He gave me the cheapest pair to try on, which were conveniently located next to me. I said I wanted to try some others, so, maybe he could go find some other shoes that would work for me? "Oh... okay. Here, this one is your size." Hands me one shoe off the wall. It didn't fit. I had to prompt him to go get the next size up, and both shoes. They of course didn't have it. Meanwhile, buddy could have been pulling shoes in my size of different styles for me to try out. But he made no effort. None. After another attempt to try a pair in my size only to find they didn't have it, with no offer of looking for anything else, I left. He had already disappeared and didn't even come back to where I was for 10 more minutes, anyways. Another time I had been looking for shorts - No one helped me find anything. When I finally found something that might work I needed someone to open a change room. After tracking down a girl, who reluctantly opened the change room, I tried them on. Good enough, but not great, and by that time I just wanted out of there. But I wasn't asked if they fit, or if I needed a different style, nothing. She ninja-vanished. But appeared as I was headed for the till. To try and put her sales sticker on my shorts. I flat out told her no, because she didn't do anything. This store has the worst customer service. I could go on and on about various individual service experiences. I feel bad for the one or two employees who actually like the outdoors and are passionate about great gear. However, I wish the rest of the staff would get torched by a flame thrower. read more

I bought a pair of New Balance jogging shoes today. They were on sale for 69.95. Just got home from my first time out for a jog in awhile and the shoes are awesome. If you want a wider shoe that has a lot of cushion and very comfortable get the tech ride New Balance shoe. Oh and the staff, the young fellow that helped me was most helpful. It's really hard to say, buy hiking shoes, when some of them are on one end of the store in the Sport Chek section and the others are over at Coast Mountain Sports all the way on the other end. However, it's located at Metrotown, so finding your correct size can be a challenge for some products, especially shoes. I think they need to do faster restocking on popular products. I went to this location just because they were the only one that had the size of my son's soccer cleats. After I read so many bad comments on this store location, I braced myself to go. I got there and asked for the cleats that I had them put on hold. Not only they had different left and right cleats in the box, one looked it was well used. I tried to find someone to find me another pair with the size. After waiting one hour in the store, having Dylan to find me the pair, he was dragging his feet and swearing "F....ing, I am not supposed to be helping here, I am in the bike section". I was so angry with such foul language usage in front of customers and children. I would leave if it was not for this other young Asian staff Mike, he helped to find me the right cleats and being very tentative. They should promote Mike and fire Dylan right on the spot. read more

I seriously HATE going to the Metrotown location. Unfortunately, it's the biggest location around me and always has the most stock (compared to Langley, Strawberry Hill, etc). Last week I went in and my husband and I were looking for tents and camping equipment in the Atmosphere section. There was ONE sales associate that I could see running back and forth from bikes to shoes, to sunglasses. My husband and I were not acknowledged once in FIFTEEN MINUTES! We literally parked ourselves on a display cot waiting to get ANYONES help. The one sales associate started talking to another saying he would go on break soon. That's when I finally interrupted saying we'd really like some help. They apologized and said they would get right with us. My husband and I only had a few questions about different models of tents and if we had been offered help right away we were ready to purchase a $300 tent that day. But instead, we ended up waiting a whopping FORTY-FIVE MINUTES (yes, an additional half an hour after the first associate acknowledged us) before we got some help. I was so frustrated because from what I could see it wasn't that busy in the store. I seriously loathe going into that store. Since our last visit, we always do our research at home because trying to get help in that store is just ridiculous. read more
