This review is solely based on our (my husband and mine) experience with the customer's service. Both Chris (I hope I spelled his name correctly) and Marcus were very knowledgeable, patient and friendly while entertaining our vast amount of questions regarding the "perfect coat for Alberta". They even suggested rental companies for parkas. The coats they suggested weren't based on sales neither were we steered towards the most expensive coat on the rack. I suggest dont order anything off Sport Chek .ca as it is a mess if you are ordering more than 1 piece. They count on the inventory of the store and if that is not accurate then it may say it is available on line but it really isnt... Also if you are ordering multiples of one thing be prepared to have a fury of shipments come to your door each day. I ordered 20 pieces for a team and I have got a package almost each day with one piece in it. Don't bother calling customer service as they just read you the terms and considtions and tell you that "This is Normal" and readily to help at all. I couldnt even track all the packages as the tracking number I was sent was for 1 item. They send things through multiple channels ( Canada Post and UPS) so delivery methods are not consistent and no clear explaination was given why. Just before COVID, I purchased an item from Sportchek and was told I could return it for a full refund (over $100 value). Understandably when COVID hit, they were not accepting refunds but assured me that I could return the item at a later date. When stores fully closed, I spoke with multiple customer service agents who assured me that I could return the item up to 45 days after that location reopened. As soon as the store reopened, they would not refund my item but said they would take it and give me store credit. I waited until another Sportchek location reopened and was told the same thing. Really? I purchased the item a few days before store closures. What was I supposed to do? And MULTIPLE reps confirmed I would have no issues returning it. It also didn't match the information on their website. So fine, I took the store credit. I picked out something online just to use the credit and ended up having to pay over $25 more in shipping. Now I'm told that the item has been lost in transit and will not ship to my house, but I have to pick it up from a shipping centre that's over an hour and a half away. Cool Sportcheck. I've been here off and on for years, however, to be honest it was most time to price compare than it is to buy. It's cheaper to purchase on-line and or across the border. I would shop here more if they actually had people here who were experts in certain departments. The customer service here on all levels is smiliar to Wal-Mart. I am all about customer service, especially when the price is not there. The fact that they don't have this to convince me to stay is a real disappointment. I ordered something online from Sportchek and received it very fast in the mail. When I opened it, the price tag had a sale sticker on it much cheaper than what I purchased it for. I emailed Customer Service and they responded immediately and were able to refund me the difference. The Customer Service experience was excellent! read more

Bought my a bike for his birthday, riding down the driveway part broke went into the spokes he fell and the bike was damaged. Took it back and they would not fix or refund me the talked mangers who was very rude I left the bike at the store because I was afraid for me sons safety. I have always been skeptical of metrotown sportchek because they have a great selection but always understaffed and on this day I really had to go there with my grandma and find a brand new shoe for her. My grandma has problems with her feet and it is very difficult for her to find the right pair of shoes for her but I knew that sportchek might have a shoe in stock. As predicted, it was busy but luckily, a gentleman named Dwayne was helping us and I was blown away by his knowledge of shoes. We were there for atleast an hour of trying on shoes and even though Dwayne had other customers that he had to attend to, he made us his priority and he was so humble to take off each pair of shoe and then put on the next shoe and tie it for my grandma. And after an hour, my grandma found the perfect shoe for herself, thanks to Dwayne. This type of service cannot be trained but it is purely a service straight from the heart and absolutely genuine. Now, whenever I go to sportchek, I look for Dwayne and I tell all my family and friends to go to him as well because he is the best and Sportchek should be honored to have such a wonderful sales associate that works for them. So anybody who is reading this, I recommend Dwayne and please take my word on that. You will not be disappointed! I have gone back to Sportchek and he has helped me out 5 more times since this happened. read more

This company has outrageously great customer service. I brought in my daughters bike at the Kitchener location, we had bought there 2 years before, with brake problems. I left it there overnight and picked it up next day all fixed. The bike techs said all is good and that there was no charge.... no charge? what a great place. What was suppose to be an in and out experience turnt out to be a long dragged out one with useless sales people. I called ahead at the store to see if they had any skechers pink go walk shoes seeing that all the skechers stores sold out or didn't carry them in stock. So I figured I'd try sports chek. The guy picked up the phone and surprisingly told me they carried them in stock and they had pink. So I asked him you're sure they're the go walks shoes? And he saids yes. So I gave him my shoe size and he said we have one last pair left and he tells me he will put them aside for me today and that all i have to do is go to the cash check out. I'm thinking yees this is awesome I finally get the shoes I wanted. I get there and I line up at the check out. When I get to the cashier I told her my name and that I had skechers go walk shoes on hold for me. Anyways apparently there was no communication at all between the sales guy on the phone and the cashier. She was clueless and took her 20 minutes to locate the shoes and when she did give me the shoes they weren't the shoes I expected they were in fact skechers pink runners in a size 6. I was so choked. So I head to the shoe section to see if they carried any of the ones I wanted. They did carry the go walks but didn't have pink and it took forever to ask a sales person on the floor. All they were doing was standing around talking to each other, nobody would acknowledge me when i was clearly waiting for them to assist me. Not only did I waste time here but the lack of communication and the cruddy customer service left a horrible taste in my mouth. read more

I frequent Sport Check at another location. This was my first time at the Metrotown location after its renovation. What a huge difference! It looks amazing with the lights and space. It"s a huge store. I recall their grand opening had 25% off everything and unfortunately I missed that. Yesterday, I went to get Nike Free Flyknits (best shoe ever). A male helped me and I didn't catch his name, but he was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I got the last pair in my size! He even walked me to the cash register. I always get excellent service at Sport Check, regardless of the location and that is something to be commended for. I understand there is no commission (nor quota) so the workers genuinely like their job and I think that shows. Two thumbs up! read more

I have always received proper and excellent service at Sports Check in the lower mainland where I went until today at the Metrotown location. Before you get 2 excited I should say it was not all that bad since the floor the manager #1 (cannot remember his name, maybe Kevin) and manager # (Richard) came to rescuer. I will not go into the details of the transaction (Had bought some skates for my son and a couple of them did not fit him and wanted to get refund for one and exchange the other, Sep 10, 11am) but my feedback as far as the person(s) I came in contact with 1- At the door = Pleasant Welcome = A+ 2- Cashier (Tawar) was OK = Could use a friendlier nice smile and more welcoming = B+ 3- Sales person , a young man, very patient and helpful as much as a new sales person can be = A 4- Floor supervisor (senior sales person) definitely does not deserve to work there or anywhere that requires people skills = F 5- First floor manager (can't remember his name. Sandy hair and facial hair). Listened to my story and had a solution to the problem = A+ 6- second manager at the cashier (Richard) was awesome, pleasant, friendly and knows how to keep the customer happy and make them feel comfortable = A++ As I said all was good except the Mr. whatever his name was (Item#4 above). 3 month ago I bought a bike. As their selection is big I decided to go to this location(Metropolis at Metrotown).I went there with a friend and he helped me to find the right bike- not a cheap one, but I wanted to have a certain quality, so I spend $399 (before tax) for a GT Agressor 3.0. They wanted to have a look at it and fix everything for me before i take it home, so i picked it up the next day. I was pretty happy, but then I realized that I couldn't shift into the right gear, struggling for a few days with it, I decided that something must be wrong- so I brought it back. They took a look at it, but didn't believe me that something is really wrong. (No, that's not a problem- it's normal that the gear shift is sometimes funny in the beginning, but we fixed that for you.) I don't know what they fixed, as I had the same problem immediatelly again. So when I had a day off I went there again- this time the guy didn't believe me again, he was smiling and treated me, like I can not tell when there's something wrong with a bike as he is the specialist. He was not understanding, why I complained and he was in my opinion cocky and rude. He ensured me that everything is working fine and so I went on a bike tour. The tour was frustrating and I struggled nearly all the times, as I couldn't shift. Finally I was sure - I wasted more than $ 400 for a piece of junk and getting a horrible treatment with it. But I was lucky- very, very lucky!!! Friends of mine recommended the store in the kits location (Atmosphere Kitsilano 1625 Chestnut Street, Vancouver). I went there with my bike, told them what was wrong with it and just 5 minutes later Mike found the fault. It was the bolt from derailler to derailler hanger (it's responsable for shifting)that was bend and broken, because it was wrong installed from beginning. He coulnd't explain me, how someone could not find this mistake, as it is obvious and wondered how i was able to ride the bike at all as the shifting is bearly controllable. Been in here many times always going back thinking each time "they'll have enough sizes, last time was just bad luck, they can't always be out of Mediums in almost everything". Alas, no mediums. I am a frequent shopper of the SportChek, and over the years the customer service quality has been on the decline. I visited the store to buy a winter jacket today and looked at different brands, suddenly this harsh voice came from behind me: "Can I help you?", in a tone that is unfriendly and aggressive, I looked back and there was this Philippine store clerk stared at me and another customer in an angrily mood. Neither of us said anything but apparently she tried to push us to buy something instead of helping us. I remember seeing her before when I finished picking my stuff and walking towards the cashier, her face at the time was totally different, smiled and offered to carry the stuff to the cashier. I understand that today is a busy day and there is a lot of stress, but don't you think this is also the time for your customer service skills to shine? If the store management can't provide shoppers with good experience maybe we will shop somewhere else. read more
