Both are filthy -- not "needs a quick wipe" dirty, but visibly neglected. One of two sinks works, and the urinal area is just disgusting. To top it off, the door swings inward -- so while you're washing your hands, it opens right into you. It nearly slammed into my 3-year-old son. That's not just poor maintenance, that's a safety hazard. This place needs a serious deep clean and a basic facilities audit before it deserves another customer.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

I hate wasting food but I just could not bring myself to eating such a gross meal (yes it is a truck stop and I should not expect 5stars lol). Heck they have been doing it since the thirties so in my book they deserve some credit! Bottom line do not eat the fish and chips at this place period.

One had the decor of a Chevron gas station but no Chevron sign and the other looked to be a Shell station converted to a Chevron station with a Chevron sign out front. I went to the one with a Chevron sign out front (this one). The cashier in the convenience store was friendly, the restrooms were clean, and the snacks were reasonably priced. Fueling was straightforward and the gas itself was a good deal. I paid a little under $12 for a little over 5.5 gallons of gas. It was easy to pull in to and out of the pumping stations and the parking along the convenience store was also easy to access. There was ample space for lines if fueling up at a busy time.

Easy in, easy out with smaller than most lanes for the cars at the pumps but enough room that it's not dangerous. As far as convenience stores goes, this one is pretty Janky. They've got all the cheese laden carbs and energy drinks that you're looking for, and the bathroom has a pretty constant leak from outside and it's rather cold. Not a place to linger! Not great, but not as either - kind of the gas station equivalent of the little bears porridge in little red riding hood. Good for what you need and not much else....like a gas station should be!

I had never hiked up this way (did fly fish it last year though). While driving up the valley, I happened upon this little grocery. I didn't have a Wilderness Pass, so I figured I'd stop on in and grab one (as well as some beef jerky for me and my dogs). This place is fairly small. The person running the place was sitting in what looked like an attached living room to the store (her cute kid was playing around on the floor playing)--definitely a homey feel to the place. The woman was nice and answered my basic questions about getting to the trailhead. "yeah, the roads alright, but there are some potholes to look out for", she said. "Potholes" turned out to be the buzzword of the day for me. If you need to pick up any last minute provisions, Teanaway Mercantile is your only options in this beautiful peace of the world.

The new owners seem really great and are still doing renovations and cleaning up the place, with future hopes of running a little sandwich/snack counter once their permits get approved. I'm a big fan of the unmanaged Twentynine Pines campground just a few miles into the hills past the Mercantile and now that this place is open again, I don't have to drive the ~20 miles back into Cle Elum for any supplies I forget. The prices are higher than Safeway and etc, but they're not outrageous and the convenience is worth it. I'm helping host a 30+ person event out that way this weekend and found that the Mercantile wasn't missing anything I might need during the event; they've got beer, propane, food, drinks, supplies, tools, and more. Their plans are to stay open year-round and I hope these guys can make enough to keep their doors open for a while.

Not too thrilled about my experience here. Never got "bad…read moregas" before but had heard about it. I think this is what happened to me here - I filled up with the pure gas premium and my truck ran like absolute crap. It was idling very rough and the MPG was way down. When I got back to Seattle, I ran it down to a quarter tank, running like crap the entire time and even had some small backfires. I refilled with Costco gas and the truck is running like normal again. I don't know if it's because my truck likes 10% ethanol (seems very unlikley) or if the pure gas at Storey's was contaminated... hard to say. Couple that with the higher price for using a debit card (that you have no idea about until you start pumping) and this was just a lame experience all around. I'm going to try pure gas from a different location to see if it's the truck not liking pure gas and I'll update my review if that proves to be the case.

Upon walking in on your right will be the flesh section. No they're not selling sex but it's an area devoted to meat, you know dead animals who sacrificed themselves for my enjoyment. Nice selection of the flesh including prepackaged sausages from CURRED. For those wondering what CURRED is well it's a local ( Leavenworth ) artisan , handcrafted dry cured meats shop. They offer more than 30 varieties of award winning salami, sausages, and specialty cured meats crafted using traditional methods and high quality ingredients. I grabbed a package of BEEF FRANKS BTW for consumption later... The beer section is epic for a local store but stocked with several local brands you can't purchase at Walmart or Safeway so load up a few 6 packs.... Shocking the produce section was amazing with some really choice vegetables & fruit with vibrant colors and fresh smells... Now in a hidden area is a deli of all things. Dan's staff of elf's are making sandwich's and deep fried items.. The cheap deep fried burritos looked amazing and FRANK made a mental note for next time to grab one... Granted it's a grocery store so most of the items you find anywhere. Yet Dan's has a certain style I appreciate and this is why I'm drawn to shopping here... If you can budget the extra 5 minutes of driving save your money and get gas at Safeway and any convenience items at Dan's or Safeway.
