Buying ammunition at this store is an odyssey. I think the ammunition counter guys flunked out of the DMV for being too slow.

In the past I have shopped at Sportsman's Warehouse quite a bit since I'm an avid bass fisherman and outdoorsman. I really don't have a big complaint about the store itself - the selection is decent and most of the staff are pretty friendly and offer to help when they see you. My big complaint is their sales ads which I receive via email several times a week. They put the same items on sale month after month, and the discounts are sometimes so insignificant they're not worth paying attention to. When they do offer some "hot buy" at a great price you'll find that they have zero inventory at the local store and it won't be available for shipping ( it happened to me today). I'm sure they intentionally do this to get you in the store in the hopes that you'll buy something different because the item you came for is not in stock or can't be ordered. It's basic bait and switch tactics which is just insulting. I find myself buying more and more online which I lothe to do but when I can order the same items online from a store that actually has the items in stock for a cheaper price, and they generally arrive the next day, it's too easy. If Sportsman's Warehouse wants to keep my business they need to play straight and not waste my time. read more

I have no choice but to shop here for reloading stuff as there is nowhere else local for what I need but for over a month that have been out of almost all reloading components that are needed for most reloaders with no idea when they will be restocking and the customer service behind the gun counter is always terrrrrrible, extremely rude and lazy if everybody hates their job so much why don't they get a new one? read more

Mark M was the gentleman who helped me and of all the sportsman's warehouse I've been too, he was the nicest associate I've came across when purchasing my item. I have bought almost all my guns online and through my FFL. I came here knowing my Birthday was 12 days away and just wanted to see what they have. Ended up picking up a Bergara B-14 HMR Wilderness and a CZ SP-01. Needed a new long gun since my M700 is short and has a bit more blast and flash than I wanted and I already have a CZ P-01 and wanted a full size version. Selection was nice and more than I expected so it was easy to pick up two guns without having to search high and low. The prices for the guns were less than what I would have paid online so the value was there for sure. The CZ was cheaper and the Bergara is just hard to find anywhere except online and thus allowed me to hold and feel it. Service was excellent. Only hit is the wait but that is just staffing and the length of time it takes to buy a gun in CA. Still it was excellent service and the selection is pretty good. I recommend buying a gun from here if you are willing to wait. read more

My husband Was shopping for a gun we went in to the store a quite a few times but today my husband did find one he liked .It dose take time to buy a gun you have to fill out a lot of paper work which is for safety reasons which is great . we was helped by Jerry he was very personal an knowledgeable . we where happy because he explane all the laws An regulations which was great . I explain I don't like guns but my husband dose . Jerry said the problem is not the gun it's the people are the problem. I feel it's our right to have a gun I know a lot of people don't like gun but to each it's own . It's the second amendment . I respect very ones choice. Walked in here having the miniature Bass Pro Stop store. This place is big like a Target store with all the sporting goods from knives to guns to bows. I haven't been shopping for sporting goods in awhile now so am not current with newer brands and current pricing. So I wanted to compare what I knew, a Cocoon Cotton mummy liner. Was disappointed when I went into the area and was told they only had a single liner which was not a popular brand. read more

Horrible customer service in the gun department. Mark and other guy(did not get his name) there were busy but not to busy to help other people they did not even say Be with you ASAP or darn thing, paged 3 times to answer phone and they laughed about it. I was there from 5:20 till 5:38 pm 4/18/24 and I left cause them two did not care about anyone but the register and laughing and joking with each other and a customer.. there were 3 other folks waiting and that is bad for business.. I sure hope Corporate office reads these cause lots of upset customers in Redding with the poor service!!!! Someone needs to get there head out where the sun shines in the gun department and the manager of the store needs to get on top of this.. read more

Went in today for a private party handgun transfer...waited 15 minutes for our number...45 more minutes for the paperwork process, only to be told by Ron when we are on our way to pay that we were performing an illegal transaction and they cannot do it. Why? He claims a new law that "just came across" that NO ONE is allowed to private party transfer off-roster guns. I google said "new law"...absolutely nothing. I understand you cannot buy an off-roster handgun if you're not on the excluded list from DOJ (LEO's etc), but absolutely nothing about a new law being recently enacted about it. I asked him it was not a law but SW policy...nope new law, shrugs and meanders off. First off...ridiculous that I spent over an hour there without this being mentioned, completing the entire DROS (which again, was the longest I've ever had to do). Second...your employees are outright lying and making things up to your customers. Last...I went to Jones Fort (where we should have gone from the get go), complete the transfer paperwork in 11 minutes, and they all laugh at the incompetence of Sportsman's Warehouse. Good job...this is the LAST place I'll go in the future for ANYTHING. Train your staff. Just because they say random shit with authority doesn't make it true. read more

Horrible Customer service again in the firearm department, didn't get anyone's name. I called Friday and had a time to come in on Sunday to get a scope mounted, I come in Sunday, pick a number and waited for 25 min to be told it wasn't going to happen today. Mind you there is a total of maybe 4-5 people. Will continue to go to olde west gun and loan for my scope mounting and gunsmithing done. Olde West Gun and Loan 5 stars. The gun department is in need some serious training in customer service. I went in today to use up a gift card and purchase a rifle as a birthday present to myself. I went early because I know this place gets busy. There was one customer being helped and five other employees talking amongst themselves. Not a single one acknowledged me or offered help. I stepped up to the counter, stood there for a bit and nothing for any employees. I thought maybe I'd buy some ammo. Gentlemen stocking that area didn't even look my way or acknowledge me either. It was like I was invisible. But they still all had time talk shop with each other. Seems to me that this store doesn't need my business and I'm perfectly okay not giving it to them. I would also like to note that I've bought 8 guns from sportsman's in the past. It's been over 3 years since I've bought here though. read more

Been in here at least 4 times now to buy guns or ammo , at a bare minimum have had to wait at least a hr to be helped.i would understand if they were busy but we sat in line for a hr and half and they were still helping the same 2 people. I purchased online a pair of binoculars after talking with the person at the store, who assured me they had three pairs of my model. The next day I went there to pick them up. Discovered they only had the display model, and the two people who helped me told me I could not have it because the order had not "cleared". I asked them to check my order number to verify the payment, which actually was already listed as a debit on my account. They said they could not do this, but had to wait. If I wanted the binos I could pay them now, AGAIN, and they would "cancel the order". I asked how they could cancel the order if they couldnt verify it. This is when I began to suspect that there was something fishy about this whole scenario. Indeed because I needed them that day, I did finally buy them again. I spoke to a customer service rep first who told me the order had been "flagged for verification". Whatever that means. Now, 4 days later, the debit is still sitting in my online account. In my opinion, this is some sort of scam. read more

The customer service has never been that great at Sportsman's Warehouse but yesterday's incident was very upsetting. I was waiting in the gun line for about 20 minutes when a gal customer walks up next to me. The SW employee Ron Gretchem goes right to her and starts helping her. I'm standing in line in disbelief. I wanted to be patient but I've waited in line for too long for something like this to happen. I said "excuse me, I'm next in line" after being ignored by Ron for the first couple times he then starts helping me but he was rude and made it very short. I asked for a couple items that was on their ad. Ron informs me rudely that they're sold out. No options or suggestions, just "they're sold out". Not only was the customer service from Ron poor and rude but it was the first day of a seven day ad sale and the items were already sold out. read more

Gun dependent is terrible and rude. They never have any left handed guns and good luck getting help in that part of the store. Tired of being treated poorly for being left handed. When trying to buy ammo you wait forever. I was the 1st one there one time and finally a jerk came over told me I had to wait my turn and help everyone before me even tho I was there first. Well I must say, that my experience with the customer service at the Chico Sportsman's, was ridiculous! The customer service here was excellent! My family and I were greeted upon entering the store, by two friendly ladies! We went to the shoe department and were waited on right away! We purchased a couple pair of shoes and a few other items. I usually like and shop Sportsman's but today I was in there with 5 clerks behind the gun counter and one customer. Was curious about what was in stock for a new .22 rifle. The clerks never looked or acknowledged me. Once the one customer left one clerk sculled off into the back of store and I stood there for several minutes and the 4 remaining clerks never looked up, just stood there talking with each other. Good inventory and reasonable prices, but be cautious with your purchase - their returns staff is very inflexible and unhelpful. Make sure you won't need to return it later! I was told to place my order online and that I would be notified my order would be fulfilled and I would get an email to pick up the items I ordered. Only one item of my order was fulfilled. Their website is a nightmare to deal with. I can't remember how many times I've had to reset my password and still couldn't log in. The other item of my order was supposed to be ready last Sunday. Wasn't ready when I came. Waited. Called two days ago. Was told it was there. Had a friend pick it up with order confirmation # only to be told it wasn't there. I still haven't gotten an email confirmation for the other item I ordered. Don't place your order online with this place. It's just not worth the headache and aggravation. I have always had good experiences here at Sportsman's Warehouse. When I was shopping for new hiking boots last year the very knowledgeable staff helped me with several suggestions. While I didn't find the perfect fit for me they did have a very wide selection and the prices seemed reasonable. This store is also my "go to" for ammunition purchases and items for ammunition reloading. They have a wide selection of manufacturers in just about any caliber you need. read more

They answered all my questions and we're there to help. I've had items where I needed to make a return. Easy as pie. Have a recite in hand and the item with the reason it's being returned. Had zero problems making a return or a simple exchange. Buy most of my outdoor things here. Fishing equipment, rods, guns, ammunition, backpacks, camping, hiking, shoes, clothes, hunting calls, packing, gear, knives, etc. They have it and great prices.
