Stuck in a nearby hotel for a week, we went to the Spot at least once a day, often twice. We came because it seemed to be the only place in the neighborhood to get a decent breakfast; we came back because the coffee is amazing, the tables and chairs are comfortable, and the WiFi is strong. At different times of the day we had breakfast sandwiches (a bit underflavoured). pastries (yum), and chili (excellent on a wintry Buffalo night). And always the lattes - ahhh. And much of Buffalo seems to agree. This place isn't as over-the-top packed as the Elmwood Village location, but it's always busy - clearly a hub for Buffalonian coffee lovers. read more

We went to Buffalo to go to the theater to see Frozen and the next morning wanted breakfast. We saw that this place had breakfast sandwiches so we walked the mile to get there. What a mistake . I mean, the walk was fine. A brisk September morning with the sun beating down. Only bad part of the walk was the hint of urine in the air and the occasional homeless guy aggressively asking for money while cracking jokes to themselves . When I got there the menu was nice. I ordered a breakfast burrito, my wife ordered a breakfast sandwich on facacha bread and my daughter one on a bagel. They also ordered a normal hot chocolate and a frozen one. I ordered a caramel macchiato with an extra shot of cappuccino. The hot chocolate was like warmed milk with the minimal amount of chocolate. The other two drinks were good. My breakfast burrito was good but I added sausage for two bucks and I didn't even get 3 inches of sausage in it. You would think you would get more than 3 inches of sausage for 2 bucks, 3 inches???. Plus it tasted like microwaved dollar store sausage. My daughter ate her sandwich with no complaints. My wife's was totally tasteless. On top of all that the ace made everyone wear masks, which is fine but noone working there did. Will not go back. read more

I love the ambiance but overall I try to avoid this place, especially at lunch. The food takes forever to arrive. Today, after waiting 30 minutes for my wrap, they ended up giving me the wrong wrap. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't anything special either. For the price they could do better. As for their coffee, I will take Starbucks over Spot but I do realize that everyone is partial to different types of coffee. I happen to be one of the "team Starbucks" rather than "team Spot." I have never been impressed with their service either. While the staff isn't rude, they aren't particularly friendly. The staff at the Elmwood location give off a better vibe. read more

When I wake up in the morning the first thought in my mind (besides how comfy and cozy I am) is how delicious a cup of coffee would be. Thank the universe for Spot. The location on Delaware is my favorite because of the beautiful people who work here and the consistently awesome coffee and food they have every morning! I normally come for breakfast so that's all I'm reviewing although I'm sure all of the meals are delectable. Your house coffee will be solid. It is flavorful and fun! They also have unique blends that rotate what seems to be on a monthly basis. My better half lives the frozen mochas. This is probably the only place that makes them good every time! Pizza bagels = the bees freaking knees. That and the Mike Sandwich are perfect! No matter what you go with you'll be happy. The atmosphere is bright and upbeat. The food and beverages are delicious. I hate to do this but I am going to have to drop my review stars because of not so pleasant experience. We went in this evening to get a decaf coffee. Probably not an unusual request in a coffee shop, in a city, in the evening. First thing, we were met with some rather rude service. I understand these hip places have to hire cool people with tattoos and piercings and a little teen angst but customer service is still (or at least should be) a high priority. They don't make or won't make decaf in the evening and they will despise you for asking. read more

I absolutely love coming to Spot to study or just to relax. All of the baristas are super nice and welcoming and there is a huge selection of drinks and food. The coffee is roasted right in the building and it's delicious! Definitely going to stay one of my go-to coffee shops. read more

Spot Coffee, from what I've learned to be a chain in western NY, has great potential but at the moment, seems to be lacking. Visiting Buffalo for the weekend and not wanting hotel coffee we noticed across the street a Starbucks and Spot Coffee. Spot Coffee had a decent vibe and wasn't Starbucks so we ventured in. The place itself is great. aA bit warm in there but a ton of room, great outside seating, and a pleasant staff. The barista told us about Cold Brew coffee, explained the difference between iced coffee, and my boyfriend was sold. We tried it and I have to say, it was great! We will be on the lookout for something similar in Charlotte. Everything else was pretty lackluster. My black coffee wasn't much different from the hotels and there seemed to be a communication barrier between me and the cashier as I tried to order two breakfasts sandwiches. Without going into too much detail, it took a few extra minutes and lot of repeating 'bacon, egg, and swiss' for him to finally get it. They turned out decent and with bacon, egg, and swiss, so in the end I was happy. Again, the place is a nice alternative to the Starbucks across the street but definitely has some room to grow and find it's groove. There are some yummy looking treats so next time I'm in Buffalo, I'll have to try one of those! read more

When I go to a coffee shop I want the coffee to be delicious and I want it to be hot. Not too much to ask, I think... but sometimes (surprisingly) it just doesn't happen. Not at this location of "Spot" though. Here they ALWAYS get it right! The service is good. It's comfortable inside. And the coffee (fat free one pump vanilla latte) is wonderful. Very hot, nice and strong, and not too sweet. Just right. Add a YUMMY cherry almond scone and the newspaper, and you've got the makings for a perfect Sunday afternoon. read more

This is my favorite Spot location. It's not too crowded, usually, it's full of interesting people (and a great mix too, which can be uncomfortable but also stimulating for stepping outside your comfort zone into more self-aware territory), and the wifi here actually works. Plus, the huge windows make for a great early morning breakfast nook - along with their granola and yogurt. Yum, everything is right. This Spot also consistently amuses me with the foam decorations for my coffee drinks. I feel like these baristas either a) spend more time on the drinks or b) are afforded the extra time to spend on drinks. Nothing against the other locations - because perhaps this one just isn't as busy - but there seems to be a little bit more care to the drinks here. One weird thing, though, is that they seem to not be carrying food very often. Their kitchen was remodeled and, as of the last time I was there, the dessert case was empty. I'm not sure what's going on with this, but yeah, watch out. And, my general opinion, Spot is not a place to get food - it's overpriced and not worth it - UNLESS it's a dessert. I cannot believe how rude the manager of this restaurant is to guest and staff. We ordered several items including a cup and bowl of soup. When we went to get our food they gave us half a cup of soup and said they were out. I obviously just asked for a refund. The staff had to get the manager for it who came out pissed off that her staff bothered her on her break. She never apologized for the issue or waiting around for her to fix it while she was on the phone. When it was finally refunded she continued to complain to whoever was on the phone that her break went over because she was forced to help me. When I asked if the refund was completed she snapped at me that it would show in a few days. Her staff kept apologizing and she was berating. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to really enjoy my meal as by the time it was figured out it was cold. Do not recommend due to management. read more

I really want to like Spot better than I do. The staff is always friendly, the atmosphere is good for working or meeting with friends, coffee is decent, and the baked goods are all right--though it really seems to depend upon when you are there. I've had a couple of cinnamon rolls that were excellent and a few that were stale. But the Wifi, which, let's be honest, is extremely important to a coffee shop these days, is terribly unreliable. As for the food, I hate to say it but I'm positive I got food poisoning at the Spot on Elmwood this past fall. I had a panini and later that night spent twelve hours violently ill. It was rather awful and will preclude me from ever eating "solid food" from Spot again. Which is too bad because my above complaints seem entirely resolvable, if management addressed such issues. read more

It's hard to get away from Spot coffee. The little tiny coffee shop that Mike and Sally started so many years ago has finally grown up. Spot coffee is everywhere now. This is the location where it all started. This coffee shop has been on the corner of Delaware pretty much as long as I can remember. Over the years it's changed, to be sure, but the love of what they do there has always been obvious. They roast their own beans on location. Which is always nice to smell when walking by the place. They also bake their own muffins, scones, etc. The quality of all of these will vary from decent to good, but rarely is any of it actually bad. If you're hungrier, they have an array of sandwiches, salads, and soups. Some of it rotates, but there are staples on the menu. Try the chicken focaccia, you won't be disappointed. But, no, it's not perfect. They're not open 24 hours any more, which was one of the things I loved about it so much. Hell, they're not even open particularly late, and that kinda sucks in any caffeine shack. Their internet is no longer totally open either. You get a code for 2 hours of use with purchase. Neither of these are deal-breakers, but they are changes I didn't like seeing. All in all, if you need coffee or a place to study in Buffalo, there may be better, but Spot is pretty much omnipresent and, all in all, it's a damn good choice. read more

This was the first Spot coffee I ever came to when I first moved to Buffalo and I think it still might be my favorite! It's really large, but the shape of the space makes it so the comfy couches are separated from the tables. I love their coffee drinks here and their tea is especially tasty. I've come here a few times for lunch and breakfast. The Mike sandwich (2 fried eggs, provolone and cream cheese) is my favorite breakfast choice... I like it on a bagel. Their sandwiches are a bit pricey but really delicious. The turkey foccacia is super delightful. I also like getting their soup of the day from time to time. This is your run-of-the-mill, regional coffeehouse chain serving strong brew, fair pastries and specialty drinks at the usual cost, in the usual kind of environment, featuring the usual personalities behind the counter, the usual music and the usual clientele, doing the usual things. Naturally, Buffalo locals SWEAR by The Spot and love spending their money here so as to not spend it at Starbucks. Fantastic! If you're like me, you like to find a local coffee shop to visit. Don't get me wrong, I love me a Starbucks, but nothing beats the grit of a local coffee shop. SPoT is unique, simple, and delicious! I had an iced coffee-- which you would be surprised how many coffee shops can mess up-- and an omelette (ham, spinach, and pepperjack) served with house made focaccia (they offer white and wheat!). The omelette was cooked well- not over done or dry- and a good-sized portion (3 eggs). Of course there's a Starbucks across the street, but this was so much better! read more

I have to give a shout out to Mark and his crew at Spot Coffee. The food, drinks and goodies are always top-notch. However, this review is for their work ethic and practices. As with most places these days they are understaffed yet you would not know it. They were friendly, efficient and conveyed a sincere desire to treat each customer as if they were the only one in the place! In addition, two customers walked in forgetting to have their mask on. The staff were polite and non-confrontational when requesting the use of a mask (and to the customer's credit they readily put their mask on). Best wishes to great people! read more

I really enjoyed my little study session here. They have a basic but solid coffee/tea selection. Did not eat here so I can't speak to the quality of the food but there seems to be a solid sandwich selection. The ambience is great, I pretty much had a whole section to myself, which I prefer, right by the window. There is also like 6-8 outdoor tables. Easily my favorite coffee shop in town. It's got personality, a lot of space, and a lot less "plastic" than the competition. There's a wide variety of espresso drinks to choose from all very good. There are also regular & iced coffees, teas, and other frozen drinks. As for the food, they have a rotating selection of baked goods and sandwiches. I'd recommend this Spot to anyone, although this location may not be especially suitable for larger groups (8 or more). The wi-fi, of course, is a great draw for anyone with a laptop or smartphone wanting to come in and get some work (or play) done. read more

I'd never encountered a Spot before now, so when I went to the corner, I saw the Spot, and I saw a Starbucks .... I'll always go for the lesser known place. And I was pleased! Sure, this is still a chain, but it's a chain that feels much more like a local coffee shop. There's local art, local foods, local people that aren't corporatized. All in all an excellent experience. They have beverages for the non-coffee-addicted person like myself & the pastry & cookies are always fresh. Spot Coffee has always been a go to for a nice cup of Joe. I wish there was one closer to where I lived. Luckily for me, my boyfriend lives two blocks away from the Delaware location. Everything about Spot is just on point. Every time I walk in, there is a wide range of folks doing all sorts of things: studying, reading the paper, working on a paper, hanging out with friends, a couple clearly on an OKcupid date, etc. The atmosphere is always warm and all the different groups that come in to the place seem happy that they chose this chain coffee shop to do their business. I frequent Spot Coffee for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They serve breakfast foods, sandwiches, wraps, salads, soups, smoothies, coffee, etc. Not to mention, they have Paula's Donuts, and if you have read my review on Paula's Donuts, you know how I feel about them. My favorite breakfast item on their menu is a toss up between the Mikey's sandwich (breakfast sandwich you can customize, but the default comes with cream cheese on it) and their omelets, which you can customize to your liking as well. Prices are very reasonable and service is fairly quick. I have ordered salads to go in the late evening as their hours are very accommodating and everything is always fresh and delicious. I go here so often that I forget to take pictures of how great my food looks. In fact, I think I'll walk over now and get some coffee. Enjoy this sweet chain! read more

This is probably my favorite Spot location. Aside from the coffee being amazing and the staff always getting my order right, there is always an interesting crowd to watch. The other locations are great mind you, but the clientele is primarily college students glued to their computer screens. I can only assume it's because this location is downtown that the crowd is a bit older and more interesting. I also like that it's right across the street from Starbucks...giving a major corporation a run for its money! This place is amazing to me because they actually bag their own loose leaf tea. I love that! I tried the Scarlet tea which was amazing. My wife got the Caramel Macchiato and had been bugging me since to go and get another. We also tried the vanilla cheesecake which was pretty awesome. It had been a long time since the Delaware Avenue Spot location and I had met up. After depositing my daughter on the train back to school on a cold and snowy saturday morning, it was the closest place I knew that was open for coffee and whatever else the spirit moved. This was a good thing. I felt a little under prepared with no lap tap handy, but the pleasant staff deemed to serve myself and my companion despite being luddites. We both remembered to check in on four square on our phones to avoid complete nebbishhood. There said, the needed coffee after getting up at an ungodly hour on a saturday morning was right on the money. I would have taken it via IV at that point, but the fact that Spot roasters flat out know what they are doing and make a great brew (both for the Spot outlets and few other places around town) was a terrific bonus. I've written about the Mike (much as I wish as it was named for me, but alas) and here at the Mothership of the Spot franchise, it was pretty great. I recommend it on the wheat foccia with bacon, just how I roll. Everything was prepped with care, and if you sit close to the front, you get tempted, tempted with breakfast dessert - we split a cinnamon roll and were fortified to face the day. read more

"Spot On!" indeed! Spot was one of my favorite places to frequent with friends or when I was solo when I lived in Buffalo. People from all walks of life come here and it's a great place to people-watch. What I liked about this place was that I could come here when I didn't have a dime to spend and just hang out. There would be poetry nights and open mic nights, but those seemed to dwindle down before I left the Buffalo area. They also had 24 hour service on the weekends, which also seemed to not happen as much. (I have no clue if things have changed since I've been out of Buffalo for nearly four years.) I saw reviews on the Elmwood Ave. one saying that they hated the attitudes of the hipsters who worked there. Hipster-type folks worked at this one on Delaware as well, but they were usually very quirky and friendly for the most part.
