It's cold. I'm walking down the streets of Buffalo. The snow is forming tornados and slapping me in the face. I'm wearing the one jacket I own because I am from FLORIDA! Like a desert mirage, The Spot materializes in front of me. I enter, still unsure if this is a dream or reality. The cafe greets me with a welcoming draft of warm air. I order the most delicious caramel macchiato that can only be described as "velvety soft". I take a seat by the window and watch the passerby with zero ounces of envy. Seriously, I understand why this shop has been open since the 90s- they know what they're doing. There's a reason every table is full of lively patrons who are studying, conversing, and convening. This Spot Coffee is in a great location and the coffee is good, but sometimes the line can get a little bit long. What I like about the Spot Coffee shops is that they have a cozy feel and it's a good place to sit down and work. Being ignored while waiting at the counter to order is not a good sign. Usually I go across to The Name Brand but thought I'd give this a try. After ordering a large black coffee, brew of the day, I watched the server literally trying to get the last drops out of the coffee urns. Literally. Result? A 2/3 full cup of lukewarm coffee. I come here all the time usually with my daughter and I love the fact that it's never too crowded. For breakfast I enjoy an omelette and I love the options, it's always cooked to perfection. I'm also big on desserts and I love that they serve Paula's donuts on occasion. In the summertime I'm all about the Cinco shakes and Spotsicles, but I do indulge in an occasional chai latte. The ambiance is very laid back and the overhead music selection is always appropriate for the time of day. This is a great spot, pun intended. read more

Just meh. I ordered an ice coffee with Carmel flavoring. Iced coffee tasted watered down and the Carmel flavoring was very artificial. They also have a location in Rochester which is far better IMHO than this one. They had a nice variety of baked goods but, they cases they sat in just seemed very dirty. Plenty of seating which is nice as most coffee shops you have to fight for seating. read more

Ordered a Southwestern Burrito with sausage (paid extra)....no sausage was in the burrito. Burrito was prepared on a Panini press, with guacamole which was hot!?!?! When I approached the team working and asked about the sausage I clearly created confusion....ended up just telling them to forget about it and ate my Panini press! This is a great place if you are staying or visiting downtown. I came in alone and felt comfortable with their seating and their walk up service. I don't see why so many people get all sweet and cuddly for Starbuck's on Chippewa when there's a Spot Coffee right across the street. Spot Coffee's coffee is cheaper and tastes better, the restaurant is more interesting and comfortable, and the servers are rock stars. I think they should call themselves Rock Stars as opposed to "baristas", which sounds stupid. Lastly, Spot Coffee doesn't give the sizes of their coffee goofy names like "tall", which actually means short and confuses the hell out of me. Just call the size of the coffee what it is: small, medium or large. That's all. You don't need to be super fancy like you're in France, or something. In fact, I don't think a French guy would let you get away speaking like that without slapping you across the face for being an imbecile. read more

As someone born in buffalo, I have stopped at this exact spot coffee at least 100 times. Weather it be after the turkey trot, or walking by while taking a stroll downtown. The service is amazing, and They serve breakfast later than most places which is an added bonus. But there's also that silent factor, how cozy, how comfortable it is. and it doesn't feel like the other spot's around town. I almost never come here, despite it being a half block from my office, and when I do, I remember why I don't. We went the other day at lunchtime. Placed an order for two wraps at 12:30pm. Didn't receive those wraps until 12:55pm. Stood around waiting while people who came in after us got their orders. The girl working the counter ignored us completely until I said excuse me, then just said they were working on them. No apology, no thanks for being patient. Didn't get to eat, my whole lunch date was wasted standing there. They were okay, but not worth $20 and 25 minutes. They are consistently slow, overpriced and less than friendly but this was the last straw. read more

I always go to the elmwood village location even if this place was closer because it seemed like a bad location, but I'm actually studying here today and it's nice. Plugs everywhere around the wall, where as in elmwood you are scouting out locations where you can plug your laptops into, but there along the wall there are plugs in the wall and even power strips. Also laps all around the room that you can turn on as you need. It does get busy but it seems like a night it gets a little quieter, new study spot found. read more

I prefer their mobile app and the ability to order ahead. But if Spot Coffee had that option I would definitely go there more often. Especially since it takes so long for you to get your food. Definitely not an in and out place 4. The staff are always in a great mood whether you go early in the morning or right before they close. 5. There is indoor and outdoor seating. This location was absolutely horrible. First off, they were out of eggs for omelettes (at 9am)... we spent more than $50 on breakfast just for half the order to be missing after waiting 20 minutes for food to be prepared. I went to tell the guy working the counter that we were missing items and he was dilly dallying around as I waited patiently to speak to him about the missing food. Once the avocado toast came out, it was the most depressing avocado toast I had ever seen. Bread was not even toasted. The chocolate croissant was so hard we couldn't even eat it. I even saw another customer that was there to pick up an online ordered coffee have to wait for his coffee because the worker was not checking the online orders that were coming in. My go-to for food, coffee, atmosphere, & study breaks. The chicken focaccia it to die for! Add a grande black house and I'm in heaven. The people watching will keep you going back. Incredibly friendly staff will always chat and smile with you in line. Tables could use cleaning more often, but because of the large volume of people moving about, you can hardly blame the tireless staff. For breakfast, lunch, & dinner the place satisfies. I've been a fan of Spot Coffee for a long time. I appreciate that they're a regional chain that manages to have a completely unique atmosphere at each location! I've visited their Williamsville, Elmwood and Amherst locations many times, but have only been to this location twice. Still, it's probably my favorite one. Seating is plentiful with high bar seating by the windows and plenty of little nooks spread throughout the open space. Most of the interior seemed to be done with a light colored wood, and one wall has a large mural. The decor and arrangement of the interior, in my opinion, are a perfect reflection of buffalo itself - old, with a lot of history and great architecture, but with a modern twist that appeals to young adults like myself. This location also has their roastery next door! I went quite late at night so it was closed, but I'd love to have a tour someday or at least be there when they're roasting - the smell has got to be amazing. I'm not the biggest fan of their food, but am always more than satisfied with their drink selection. Cinnamon lattes, chai lattes (or a dirty chai), iced coffee and the occasional caramel macchiato are my go-to choices. Most of the time, the baked goods are delicious. I'm really not a fan of their prices but it does feel good to support a business that's small, and know that the money will stay in the area. Any SPoT Coffee location is a great place to study/read/write alone or catch up with friends. read more

Went there with some friends this week, was surprised that 1) Spot coffee has more than one location (i was already familiar with the Elmwood joint) 2)there is a ton of room in there. I mean, you could be a point-guard for the Boston Celtics AND be wearing Ronald McDonald shoes, and you'd still have tons of space to stretch out and enjoy a brew. 3) They make a drink that I've always wanted but that you can almost find NOWHERE else in the world (ok, probably an exaggeration, but I've never seen this drink elsewhere, and I've always wanted it) The drink in question goes by the name of Café Breve. Basically, it's almost a latte, but instead of steamed milk over your espresso shot, it's heated cream. YES PLEASE! Cream and espresso were meant for each other. Delicious. The trade offs were that the interior decor has a kindergarden or dental office feel to it. The walls are painted in primary colors more or less, and there are cartoon figures of some sort "artistically" strewn across the walls. Feels silly. Also, the food was inventive but not the most impressive. I had a grilled cheese that came on giant focaccia bread, so the bread to cheese ratio was crazily out of proportion, making the sandwich dry. They DID serve it with tomatoes (a plus!) and a little cream cheese (weird, but neither bad nor great - just kind of hanging out in the flavor pool). It came with a side salad (another plus!) and the salad greens were great, BUT, it was drenched in a very unappetizing dressing, like a creamy balsamic vinaigrette. Be sure to ask for it on the side, or only order half the dressing. Even a dry salad would've been preferable. In contrast to one of the other reviewers, I found that there was TONS of sun (late afternoon in March), which I liked. Service is A+. Parking is not as convenient as the other location. read more

What a neat-o little coffee shop! I was in town for business and was staying at a local hotel and decided to make the less than one mile trek to Spot Coffee. it was worth the walk. Hotel coffee is generally pretty meh, and I'd rather drink just about anything other than Starbucks coffee. Spot has all kinds of seating - tables, couches, comfy looking chairs. I dropped by during lunchtime and got a great iced coffee but pretty much everyone else was ordering some delicious looking and smelling food. Seems like a great place to hang out and study or take a break from the corporate grind for a bite to eat. I'd definitely go back if I end up in Buffalo again! read more
