It would have been fine except for the middle aged woman making coffee and tea. As she fills she has her finger inside the cup. And gives cold drinks with her hand over the top of the cup with her hand on the part you drink out of. Please train these people to not have these disgusting habits when serving food to people. Especially she is wiping her face and scratching her head with the same hand.. I love the variety of drinks here and the staff always are extremely helpful when I have questions and help me come up with something that will work for me. I go out of my way to go to this location since the ones closest to me don't have the friendliest staff. The staff that I have had interactions with at this location have all been very friendly to me, even building a great rapport with several. They have taken the time to get to know me. That means a lot. I feel that is very important in life to build such relationships. ---Back to the menu - I have my go-to drinks but like to change it up. The cinco shake is one of the most delicious drinks ever! I treat myself every once in awhile. Caramel macchiato both hot and iced is always very good. I don't get whipped toppings on any of the drinks, takes away from it. I would though for the hot chocolate. I get an Americano once in awhile when I want to keep it simple. The food is very good. On the negative side, I agree with some of the other reviews. .. the odors from the kitchen stick in your throat and on your clothes. Not very pleasant after a while. The music is sometimes way too loud. People are there to chat or read. There's no reason to blast the tunes. Additionally, some of their baked goods need attention. The cookies are hard as a rock and really lack flavor. I don't even buy them anymore. If you want good baked goods, go across the road. read more

I stopped into this location on Friday, Sept. 4th around 1pm. I ordered an Amaretto Latte. I received my drink and it looked great. First sip tasted great. It was at the second sip, I almost swallowed and choked on a small piece of plastic in my coffee!! I took it out of my mouth and took up to the coffee maker. She looked at it and said "I don't know wha that is". Then she says, "oh wait, that's the filter from the syrup bottle". She then asked, "would you like me to make you another one?" I said no at this point, why bother, I've already almost choked on this and hope there is no other piece's of plastic. I am very disappointed that this is how this situation was handled after finding something like that in my coffee. It tells me that the establishment doesn't care. I will have to take my business to some other coffee shop, since there are plenty to choose from in our area. read more

The food for adults at Spot is wonderful! Lots to choose from, and absolutely delicious... But... I just don't understand why they don't have a kids menu! My two year old is picky (like almost all 2 year olds)! He doesn't want a grilled cheese with tomato, etc. Sure, they will make him just a plain grilled cheese (I appreciate that), however, do I want to pay the same price as the fancy grilled cheese for a plain grilled cheese? Do I really want to pay almost $10 for a sandwich for my two year old? I just don't see why it would be so difficult for them to make a kids menu with a few options for the little ones that love going to Spot with their parents. Due to the lack of kid friendly food items, I unfortunately doubt I will get to enjoy Spot again anytime soon, which is disappointing (and the reason for my 3 star rating). read more

Spot coffee... is delicious. But several experiences of mine have been brought down by the baristas. I almost got the impression they were judging me for not having green hair & facial piercings. One time, though, I waited about 20 minutes for a breakfast burrito. Took my wife here for a nice Sunday breakfast. After we got our food we tried to find a place to sit.... There was nowhere. The more I looked the more upset I was getting. There where people sleeping at the tables with no food or drinks in front of them. We had to eat standing up and the employees couldn't care less. Never coming back and won't ever go to another one. I know that this is a local favorite, and I have tried it a few times to get a good feel for the place. I love to bring my oldest daughter here for some one on one time, as the young adult crowd helps her feel special and older (and maybe helps me feel younger.) I like the decor, and we have always found a seat (even the coveted spots close to the fire) on crowded days. The true negative involves the wait time for my order every time I go here. We always get a hot chocolate and a chai tea, and the food we order rarely strays from the giant rice crispy treats, so I can't attribute the wait to food prep. However, I have yet to get drinks in less than 15 minutes, with one outing taking over 20 (to the point where I think patrons were concerned fort my elementary aged children sitting by themselves waiting for me. I could sense them thinking were these just tiny college students? 1st graders on the run and desperate for free wifi?) I will keep trying, as maybe I can find a time of day that works better. I would really like to spend that time with my kids, instead of watching them with hawk eyes from across the room, daring them to get up for free water one more time. read more

In a word BORING. I honestly have never understood the sPot mystique. Every time I have ever been here, the service is mediocre at best and the barista's are always PAINFULLY slow (always seems like a bunch of younger people just looking to hang out and talk and... oh look there's customers!) The menu is straightforward enough, though small, with some decent choices. The problem is, it hasn't changed in well over a decade, probably longer. The baked goods are always stale (ALWAYS) and always have that dry, overly-refrigerated taste (I swear they keep them in there until they sell out, regardless of age). The coffee is ok, but unremarkable (and again you need to block out 10-15 minutes to get your coffee). To top it off, this location is REALLY showing wear and tear. I remember when it first opened and I swear nothing has been replaced. Everything is in need of replacement, furniture, fixtures, floors, etc. (I've never been there when half the bulbs in the lamps weren't out). It has always seemed to me like the owners have no interest in putting money back into the business, period. Lastly, like a lot of coffee shops, there are a lot of people just sitting around taking up space and not buying anything, which can make it hard to find a table when you and your family actually ARE buying something to stay and eat. Definitely something to consider if you're planning to stay after ordering. Overall, I just don't think it's worth it, especially with so many good, new coffee shops around. The bottom line is - Leave sPot to the millennial, anti-corporate, die-hard devotees and go get a better cup somewhere else. read more

Spot is the closest thing to a small old school coffee house, so I don't always mind going there. All locations make tons of business, but they are not as good with the menu as they used to be, and I have found that the Williamsville location is so busy (a major thumbs up for them) that they run out of food several times while I am there and you really have to fight for a table some nights (bad for their patrons) So the only concern I truly have is they stock more supplies on the nights busier for them...may I also suggest an expansion?? It would really work for their location, make the company gain more money for their would be more product to sell and room to move and make it less stressful for their wonderful and sweet staff! The Elmwood location did this and it was great! Back to the pproduct. My favorite drink at spot is the Oregon Chai they serve and from time to time I will get a vanilla latte or Carmel macchiato. I love their New Yorker pizza and Cajun chicken wrap. They are great with serving vegan dishes and making exceptions for drink and food orders. The staff is very laid back and young. All locations are great to visit and I know they have one in Toronto, Canada and I believe Florida as well. They have local locations at Chippewa downtown Buffalo, Emwood Ave, Elmwood village, Main Street in Williamsville and Transit Road in East Amherst (which is the only one I haven't been in locally) if you are a student, bored group of teens with a couple of bucks and need to get out, business men/women or just friends or family looking for a relaxing place to sit, have a coffee and hangout or do business this is the place for you. Make sure you take your ear plugs with you. Yes, it's that noisy here. Their espresso is quite good if you tell them to make it the way you like. My one gripe is that their drinks are never steaming hot. The food really isn't that great. Sometimes if you are lucky, the pizza comes out good. The muffins are nothing to write about. The bathroom is always out of paper towels, and never clean. Another thing...they NEVER EVER have their wireless internet functioning. I always sit near the glass wall towards main street so that I can access Panera Bread's wi-fi network. (Panera bread is on the other side of the street). Stopped in to Spot Coffee while visiting famliy for the weekend. Open early and ready for us. Love the open air, multilevel design of the space and fun wall art paying tribute to the neighborhood. The multi-sided fireplace gave a warm cozy welcome on a frosty winter morning. Friendly helpful staff made my delicious, fluffy omlette to order (spinach and feta: Yum!). You place your order at the counter and grab a table with your coffee while they make your order fresh. My two hollow-legged teens were completely filled up by the generous portions of Belgian waffle with fresh fruit, chocolate sauce, and whipped cream and the "Mike" sandwich (bagel with cream cheese, egg and cheese.). Even my fussy husband had no complaints! Jasmine tea was fragrant and hand-portioned into knotted tea bags. Locally roasted coffee, top notch. My son loved his hot chocolate made of quality drinking chocolate, and my daughter raved about her fresh berry smoothie. We were too full for all the decadent desserts calling to us from the bakery case, but boy, did they look good. I was especially curious about the red cake donuts which looked divine. Here's my concern...I have visited this Spot location many times. The food is good, and so are the beverages, and the service has been fine. But...the last few times I have been in the shop, there has been a man present. One evening, he verbally accosted my companion and I because he didn't like the way i had my feet positioned on a sofa. When I calmly suggested he go back to enjoying his evening, he swore at us. He also takes up a lot of space, and leaves his things unattended for long periods of time, making it impossible for other people to use that space. I think there might be some mental illness present. His aggressive behavior makes us feel so uncomfortable that we have stopped going there, and go to the Starbucks down the street instead. read more

I have been a long time customer of Spot. I enjoy their coffee, atmosphere and customer service. Unfortunately, on Friday, Sept. 4th, none of this occurred. I ordered an Amaretto Latte at this location with other items. When I received my coffee it looked great. I took the first sip and it also tasted great. Then, I took a second sip and almost choked/swallowed a small, hard piece of plastic. I took it out of my mouth, and took up to the counter. The coffee maker indicated "I don't know what that is." "Oh wait, that's the filter from the syrup bottle." "Would you like me to make another coffee?" I stated "no" at this point. I said why bother I almost swallowed the piece already. I was quite shocked by this response. No offer of a refund or sorry or anything. This is worrisome to me.
