I requested a cleaning for my handwoven rug from Morocco to remove the odor from the wool. Unfortunately they returned the rug completely ruined. The yarn colors had run allover and it is now faded. It looks like they used bleach to clean it which should have never been used. When I contacted Spotless they said they would take a look. When one of their guys arrived at my building I showed him the rug along with the before photos on my phone. Instead of taking ownership of the damage the guy yelled at me and tried to blame me for the way it looks. He told me it was water damaged when he picked it up which was a big lie. The rug had not come into any contact with any liquid or moisture when I left it for pickup. The damage was clearly from them... I would never recommend using such a dishonest company. Spotless not only ruined my rug, but the guy created a scene in front of my doormen and neighbors by demanding the rest of the balance. This behavior was not professional. The work is fantastic, without question. The cleaners are professional, courteous, thorough, and detailed. I used them 7 years ago for the same 2 chairs in this review + a couch has since gone away. My complaint with the company comes down to the HEAVY sales tactics used. I called in for an estimate on 2 chairs on a Sunday. I was told with no major stains/issues, it would be approximately $100 - $150, but would need to send someone to inspect and give a full estimate. They couldn't do that day, but were able to do Monday btwn 1pm - 3pm. Great. The person arrives, looks at the chairs and quote $150 per chair, so $300 total. He then says if we give them more work, he can give a better deal. I have a new couch, so not needed. And another chair that could be cleaned, but I'm not keeping. However, I would be open to getting the living room rug cleaned. They quote $199 for the rug. We've now gone from $100 - $150 originally quoted on the phone to $150 per chair + $199 for a rug = $499 total. Unfortunately, this out of the budget and thank him for his time. Next thing you know, he can throw in the chair I'm not keeping for free. They could do a basic steam clean on the chairs for $100 without stain protection. Eventually, we land on $375 CASH for the 2 chairs - deep cleaned with stain protection AND the rug also deep cleaned with stain protection. The moral of the story is, be prepared to negotiate heavily with them. Lastly, when the cleaner was finished, he offered to do the chair I'm going to get rid of for $50. I said no. Then he offered $30. Again, I said no, I'm not keeping the chair. Again, the work they do is great! I was so pleased with this company. They came to clean a carpet for us. There were some old stains we were certain were never coming out and had positioned furniture over. The technicians somehow managed to make them vanish. I was stunned. I also liked that a manager or supervisor came in advance to assess and give recommendations based on the fabric, the room and how high traffic it was. Put in a request to get a 3 seater couch cleaned - immediately got a call and text from Mike to schedule a cleaning. I was told it would be $150-$200 to deep clean the couch which had no visible stains but someone would come and "assess" and give me a quote. I definitely felt pressured to give an answer as the guy kept going and going on why it was needed and trying to negotiate price. I had already said I was all set multiple times and that I didn't feel like i wanted to spend that much. He kept continuing despite me saying no and honestly just didn't feel like honest service and I felt uncomfortable saying no at that point. The guy who came in did do a good job and the couch looks better than before. However do I think it was worth $450? No I really don't. I wouldn't recommend them unless the price was more reasonable and they used less of bargaining back and forth to be honest. Just felt super overpriced for what I got. End of story, couch looks good and they did their best. Found Spotless online, they called me at 9am the next morning and were eager to set up an appointment. We decided on an afternoon window, NYC can be crazy- so make sure you have an afternoon with a lot of time, as traffic can change things quickly. The only annoyance I had was that I had to ask for an updated ETA twice. They came an hour after they said they were 15 minutes away (only reason this bothered me, is I have a dog I had to prepare/put away, and also work in sales so I missed opportunities to speak with clients) The couch had been quite worn, it's been moved twice. So I wanted to do something nice for my apt and get it cleaned although it will ultimately be thrown out in a few months. I explained this, and also that there were many deals on groupon for what I need. They quoted me $300.. for a two seater couch. When they said it would look brand new and that the couch really NEEDED it. I finally obliged, i knew I was being overcharged (have someone home with you if you're female - I've learned this many times in NYC now). Their technician Ben worked VERY hard, he definitely put an effort in. He noticed that some stains weren't coming out and that the couch wasn't taking the cleaning as promised. He put an incredible effort in which I highly appreciate! And I'm certain that it may just have been the fabric or a fluke... (Macy's cloth couch) I have no question Ben tried his best, they also did my rug as I was unhappy about the pricepoint, I really appreciated that. As stated prior, the couch didn't come out as promised. They came to look at it after the job was done. I was really disappointed it was still stained and didn't look refreshed or brand new. After some haggling they mentioned they could wash it again, or send it to the factory for a deeper clean. I appreciate all the ideas they had, I really do. We spoke some more and agreed upon a partial refund. I really really appreciate their honest work and that they refunded me asap. Many companies in the city would not be as hard working or diligent to do the right thing. The second time they needed to take the cushions offsite, which should've taken about a week to get them back.
