I was able to sample a few flavors when I got there.. one slid right off my taster spoon onto the floor :/ oops. The one scoop is pretty small, but I expect that with gelato. I do wish they had the small taster spoons to eat it with rather than the normal size spoon. I love eating sweets, so when I heard about Gelati Celesti - I had to come check it out for myself! Gelato ice cream offers lower calories, sugar, and fat content per serving than regular ice cream. You don't have to feel guilty eating it! There was so many flavors to choose from vanilla, chocolate, dairy-free, rainbow cookies, and sorbet to name a few. I was able to sample taste if I wanted too. I ended up getting sorbet. You can pick any size: toddler (one scoop), small (two scoop) medium (3 scoop), large, and xlarge or make it a sundae as they call it and you can buy it in a pint size! I got a small size and I almost couldn't finish it and they were two big scoops! You can choose between a cup or a cone, there's an additional cost for toppings like $1. Not only do they serve ice cream, they have milkshakes, cakes, ice cream sandwiches, pies, cakes, and their own cute merchandise for sale! Extraordinary ice cream spot I got try today! Got the blueberry mascarpone, mint chocolate chip, then cookie dough in a medium size and devoured it all. Loved the abundant flavor options - they had so many choices - it was difficult to choose. The texture of the ice cream is super creamy, luscious and rich all at the same time! You can tell it's homemade and made with love. I wish I lived in the area and could visit every week! Inside and outside are both cute, and Instagram perfect with several neon signs. I went to Gelati Celeste with my family after playing some putt putt with the hopes of getting some quick service and some delicious ice cream. Unfortunately the workers decided to stop me from having this wonderful night I was hoping for. For a Saturday night the place was not as packed as I expected it to be, which might be because of the subpar employees who can't simply scoop ice cream and put it into a cup. I ordered a milkshake and directly after my little brother also ordered a milkshake. The unqualified employee was not able to scoop the ice cream and put it into a cup to blend said ice cream into a milkshake. Somehow, my little brother managed to get his milkshake before me, even though I had ordered first, and after waiting an additional 5 1/2 minutes I was given my milkshake without a single comment from the employee who apologizing for the wait. I'm very disappointed as I often visit this location and I've never had a subpar experience. I think the staff needs to take some time to learn how to work in an ice cream shop because it is not that hard to scoop ice cream. Gelati Celesti is fantastic, the best in town. I had heard people talk about it but it is an experience you have to have in person! The flavors available are super varied and they all taste great - you can ask for samples before you actually decide. I really liked The Dude (espresso with fudge), Brownie Sundae, and Lavender, but my brother really loved the Just Ask (oreo swirls with peanut butter). In addition, the workers seemed very enthusiastic and willing to explain what made up each flavor! The gelato itself is very thick and creamy but it does not feel heavy at all in your stomach. The waffle cone is DELICIOUS - has flavor of its own, light and crispy, does not take away from the ice cream at all. I also really appreciated the decor inside the shop - the collected ice cream scoops are really fun to look at. Will definitely be coming back to try more flavors! read more

Two words: JUST ASK!!!! That's the name of my personal favorite and what seems like everyone elses according to reviews! Its white chocolate ice cream with smooth silky paths of peanut butter that lead you to delicious chunks of oreo. It sounds so simple but everything about it is extraordinary. We live in Goochland and drive 30 minutes to get a quart of it. Its THAT good. I also LOVE LOVE LOVE their housemade waffle cone! I'm not sure what I can really say about this place that hasn't already been said. Their shops (Glen Allen and Broad Street) are always clean and hygienic. They are almost always packed on weekends and some weeknights. Their ice cream is really good, and creamy rather than the airy type you'd get in store bought containers, they have a standard area of flavors, plus a few that change every so often. They are moderately priced, but not cheap. Expect to pay between 5 and 8 dollars for an average ice cream depending on size and toppings, and a tip that I recommend always giving. The workers are very kind and efficient, especially considering the massive rushes they have. Because of their popularity, you can expect the shops to be busy in the evenings, and packed to the door on weekends. The Glen Allen location recently expanded, which helped their crowds to not trample each other, but it can still get very packed. Not very dairy-free friendly. Also does not provide the calorie and ingredient information for their ice creams. Technically, I think you could contact their production company for that. Keep in mind that since the chain is only 9 stores, they are not legally required to provide calorie information. Would certainly recommend for those without strict dietary requirements. read more
