I was referred by another appliance place since apparently people do not want to work on old appliances. He also questioned why I wanted something so old fixed if possible and after hearing my reasoning understood. He looked up the parts the other company said I needed while we were on the phone, told me the ones that were still available, ones that were not. I asked him to order what the other company said and he said no, let me look at it first. He actually showed up! He tested everything and said I cannot recreate the noise you said you heard, (true, did not make any grinding noise, not a peep as I was standing right next to him) nor is it leaking as the other place told you, put the dishwasher back in the kitchen and use it. He could have said you need to replace the $350 motor, pump, etc., but was honest and probably thought I was nuts going without a dishwasher this long but I just did what the other company said, don't use it until....Naturally, never heard back from those two people. Being old, this is the type of company, customer service and honesty I grew up with which is now sadly lacking in almost everything. This is how a company should be run and I will be using them for all my appliances from now on as long as it is RANDY!

One of the others (Tnt Mechanical) scheduled first, and arrived in a black pickup truck with no identifying information, no uniform or company logo shirt, no business card. The number of scammers in our neighborhood is on the rise so I said no thank you and asked him to leave. Then Bluestar called me to set up a time; when they arrived it was more as I expect from a trusted business: company van, company uniform, business card, etc. Ivan was very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. He found a coolant leak in my system within minutes, showed it bubbling through leak detector fluid, and wrote up an estimate to repair the leak plus recharge the coolant. With a discount for cash, it was a very reasonable price and I agreed. He went to work right away. About an hour later he'd finished and took me around to inspect what he'd done, explaining everything. This really helped me feel at ease with the quality of the work, and that nothing had been done that wasn't necessary. He even helped show me some things about my furnace that I had questions about, not related to the AC work. Ivan responded quickly, got us repaired quickly at a reasonable price, and left me with feelings of trust and satisfaction. What's more, Anthony was super patient with me as I asked lots of neurotic follow-up questions by email. On the day of the project (a Sunday, no less!), he came with a partner, calling about 45 minutes ahead to let us know his ETA. He and his partner were both courteous and respectful, and they both wore masks without me having to ask (this work took place in the age of COVID-19). Partway through the project, I threw in some last minute thoughts about a new TV antenna and Anthony graciously agreed to do that work the same day, for a very fair price. At the end of the project we realized that part of the WiFi system did not quite meet my initial expectations for specifications. Not a deal breaker, but also not what we were expecting.
