Only $10 for the combo (burger, fries, drink) so worth. I got the spring burger which had sweet potato, avocado, mango, cucumber, lettuce with some mango sauce. Very fresh ingredients but overall too sweet for my liking. They could've done without the mango sauce. The fries were sooo good. The Hawaiian burger was so good- I could not even tell that fried chicken patty was vegan!! Paired perfectly with pineapple I would definitely come back to try the other items read more

Brand new vegan brunch spot right off canal st with the cutest interior and really interesting menu. Came in one morning during their soft open for an ube sandwich and hash brown+cheese sandwich (which they serve with illy coffee). Both were really good! The hash+cheese was so savory, and the ube was slightly sweet with a very generous spread of real ube. Illy coffee obviously can't be beat. Oat, almond, and soy milk are available. My friend got hawaiian burger combo (which they say is their bestseller), and he loved how much food was included in a very affordable price, also remarked that the sauce was amazing. I definitely gotta try that next. All in all, this is a great new spot with VERY yummy grub at a great price! read more

Spring cafe is fairly new vegan casual food place, that just popped up near the corner of canal st station. I was surprised to find how reasonably priced and delicious everything was, they even had beyond meat burger which can easily can cost $15 at some locations, here it's only $10 and some change. I opted for something different than regular vegan junk. I had vegan bao, they had approximately 6 flavors and not a regular at any vegan places. I had the vegan ginger chicken and black oyster mushroom bao. They both were good with the spicy mayo...the only issue I had was the bao kept getting stuck to the parchment paper. I also had portobello mushroom burger with avocado. It was so simple and so flavorful and delicious was $7.75 and came with a side of fries. Overall go support this little vegan cafe. The owner was so nice and everything is delicious. read more

Food was amazing. So fresh and such amazing flavors you would have never thought go together. The spring burger OMG I'm not vegan but geesh you couldn't even tell the difference between that and a reg burger. No meat that's the obvvious but you honestly wouldn't miss the patty. I really love this place, as it has great lunch specials that are tasty and affordable - plus it is all vegan! I've come here a few times for lunches, getting the Bento Box & the Bao Bun Combos (both of which I would recommend without hesitation - specifically the Vegan Fish Fillet, which was cooked so well), but my heart belongs to the Salt + Pepper Mushroom fries. I think it's such a creative snack, to be eating these crispy mushrooms with their vegan spicy mayo, and at ~$5, I definitely don't mind buying them for a mid-afternoon quick bite. I highly recommend coming here for lunch and getting these on the side! read more

Disclaimer: Not by any means a vegan or vegetarian, but I will have to say this place was straight fire. I ordered their Hawaiian Vegan Burger (Breaded Vegan Chicken, Lettuce, Tomato, Fresh Pineapple, Agave Mustard Sauce) for $6.95. I tried a bit of their fries and those are pretty typical, but their combo meal also contains a herbal tea which (I haven't tried personally yet) but sounds delicious. Honestly, if nobody had told me that it was a vegan chicken burger, I probably wouldn't have been able to tell instantaneously though the texture is definitely a bit different, but still freaking great. I highly recommend going to try even if you are not a vegan/vegetarian like me. By the way, they also sell a burger with the Beyond Meat patty. I haven't tried their coffee yet but it's about ~$2 and after you order, you can even add OAT and ALMOND milk for free on the side!! I'm telling you guys... you gotta try it read more

Stopped by here for some bao buns, which I've never had before. So good! I got the one with tofu and the one with mushrooms and they were both absolutely delightful. The mushrooms especially were really tasty and well seasoned. The buns aren't large, but two of them definitely held me over until dinner. The location is tiny and there is no indoor seating. There is a bit of outdoor seating, but they are located on a very busy street, so it may not be that pleasant. Lovely little spot - I will definitely be back to try their vegan burgers! read more

Fried Vegan Chicken Nuggets is a 10/10. Enough said. Get it with either the mustard or the spicy mayonaise (which is also vegan). I would honestly spend all my money on the chicken nuggets. Conveniently located next to the Canal St train station, this vegan eatery is a nice edition to the changing neighborhood. They have a mix of baos, burgers, and salads. I've had the Hawaiian burger and vegan chicken salad. Both were hearty, filling, and generously portioned at an affordable and reasonable price. The breading on the "chicken" is crispy and has a similar taste and texture to chicken nuggets you'd find in the frozen foods section. Think Tyson's nuggets, but they're vegan. read more

A gem in the heart of Chinatown for vegans and non-vegans alike! This little shop sells a variety of buns, burgers, and sandwiches with meat alternatives. They have a 2 for $5.50 bun deal, and countless teas, sides, and smoothies you can add to make a full meal. I ordered 2 of the braised tofu buns after hearing other yelpers rave about them, and I'll have to follow suit! The tofu seems to have been braised in a soy sauce mixture, giving it a softer, juicier taste. The sauerkraut on top is the perfect finishing touch. I also had their fries with agave mustard! This spot has improved tremendously since COVID hit the city. Staff are friendlier and the kitchen more attentive. There are still some issues with the flavors being off or odd in some menu items but that could be differences in personal preferences. Overall, recommended for vegetarians going to the Chinatown area. read more

I wanted to pick up something to eat from Chinatown before heading back home and was not sure what I wanted until I saw Spring Cafe on my way to the Canal Street train station. I remember seeing that the cafe had good reviews on Yelp so decided to give it a try. Looking at the menu, I saw they has a variety of vegan comfort foods which looked really interesting to choose from such as the ube sandwich. However, since I have not had a chance to try many vegan foods, I ordered something I was more familiar with, which was tofu and I ordered the braised tofu bento box. The braised tofu skin bento box was really delicious and I had lots of tofu for the meal as one of the sides is a curry tofu. The soup that came with the bento box was interesting as it was a both savory and had a bit of a spicy kick to it. Overall, I would definitely come back to try the other items on their menu as the food was delicious and curious to try the other vegan comfort foods offered. read more

I didn't know about this place and am generally wary of places that market themselves as "vegan cafe's", but my friend is Vegan and we came here to accommodate. Spring Cafe is newly open and tucked away next to the N train station on Centre Street. Despite its small size, it had a healthy attendance of patrons coming in and out of its doors, mostly for takeout, and never to the point of overcrowding. The menu offers all foods aligned with a vegan-based diet, and some meat-substitutes (like the vegan chicken salad, which my friend had). The burgers looked amazing, but I wasn't very hungry, so to not make it awkward, I got two mushroom baos/buns. My friend was a big fan of their healthy green salad - the mangoes and pumpkin seeds looked particularly good, but the salad as a whole was super fresh. The buns came wrapped individually and then packaged together in a box. While it wasn't the most photogenic in the world, the flavour packed a punch not intimated by its appearance. Wow. So so good, and so so tasty. You definitely get that umame flavour and richness from the sauce they use. Overall, it was such a pleasant bun experience. I think it could have used some scallion, but that's just me. Overall, I enjoyed the mushroom bao I tried, and I would come back to try the other ones. Spring cafe opened up recently and I have been waiting to try it! It is located right next to the NQR/J trains. The place is small, but does have some seating along the walls. I ordered 2 buns which came out to $6 after tax. I got the ginger vegan chicken and black pepper mushroom. The buns were very tasty- the mushrooms were very well seasoned and had a nice sauce which soaked into the white fluffy buns. The ginger vegan chicken was interesting- it tasted just like a Chinese chicken dish that comes with a similar ginger scallion sauce. The ginger was a tad strong but overall I liked it. The texture of the "chicken" was amazing! I'd definitely recommend this place for a casual brunch/lunch. Glad to have a solid meatless option in the neighborhood! read more

Unexpectedly wonderful, great price! Found myself here by mistake - I'm not even vegan. The impossible cheeseburger was fantastic - I was full the whole day and that cheese was surprisingly great! Fries are the type that have the crunchy orange outer layer - if that's not your speed, there are other side options. I've had crappy vegan food before so I was very surprised by this! Definitely a hidden gem in Chinatown. This is my second time here and I can't get enough. I got Bao Combo 1 and everything is literally perfection. The braised tofu skin bao tastes like an authentic taiwanese braised pork belly bao. The fries are crispy and well seasoned. The iced tea is pairs well with the food. OK so full disclosure, I'm a full blooded meat eater. My wife is a vegetarian and she loves those small little shop near the subway. I was on the area recently and wanted to support a small shop and surprise my wife. I was hungry too so I figured why not, and got the beyond burger for myself. Well, it was damn good. Really good in fact. I'm not saying I won't eat a real burger again, but this is on my menu rotation now. The nuggets were good too. I've walked by this place tons of times, since it's literally right next to the Canal Street subway station, and I've been meaning to try it at some point. (Un)luckily for me, my regular train wasn't running today, so I finally decided to pop in for a quick takeout dinner. Everything on the menu is vegan, so that's great for people who can't eat meat or choose not to eat meat for health reasons. Personally, I do eat meat, but it's not like I can't live without meat everyday, so having a more healthy option available for dinner is always good. It's just unfortunate that many vegan places are priced higher than your regular non-vegan joints, which makes it harder to consciously choose to eat healthy. The store is a narrow space, but it has plenty of chairs inside as well as outside if you wanted to eat your food right away. It wasn't too busy when I came in, and they already had my food ready for me for pickup. I ordered the Spicy Impossible Burger Combo, with original fries and a pineapple green tea. Spicy Impossible Burger: My first time trying a plant-based "meat" patty, I was a little apprehensive about it. I heard it tastes very similar to meat, but it's supposedly more healthy for you (opinions wildly vary about this) since it's not an animal product. When I first bit into it, it very obviously didn't taste like meat to me. However, it has a similar mouth feel to normal meat, so I can see why these are becoming popular. The taste is hard to describe, but it lacked the distinct umami that characterizes meat products. It wasn't offensive, but there was nothing special about the flavor of the patty, it's just there to fill you up, not to wow you. What I did like was the toppings. The burger came with a spicy watery sauce, avocado, vegan cheese, tomato and a very appetizing looking piece of green lettuce. This is what a burger should look like, screaming "Eat Me!". Sadly, the bun had sesame seeds on it, and I have never been a fan of sesame seeded buns, because they're often low quality. The size was just right for me, and I was quite full after finishing it. Was it the best burger I've had? No. But it was a decent burger, and I appreciate that I didn't feel heavy after eating it, like I normally do after a burger. You know that sluggish feeling of not wanting to move after a large meal? This burger doesn't do that to me, so I wouldn't mind getting it again, despite its taste being not particularly memorable. 3.5/5 Original Fries: I think these are air-fried french fries because they're not as greasy as the traditionally fries ones. Very crisp and nicely golden, with no limp or burnt fries. I liked the spicy vegan mayo. It's more of a relish (on the liquid side) than mayo, which works great for me because I dislike pure mayo, which is too heavy and thick. This was a good sauce, which I believe was the same sauce on my burger. The fries could have been seasoned a bit more, but they're fine as they are when paired with the sauce. 4/5 Pineapple Green Tea: My least favorite item. The chunks of fresh pineapple work as a concept to substitute for something unhealthy such as tapioca bubbles, but I found the actual product is not appealing to me. Pineapple is a fibrous fruit, and drinking chunks of it with each sip ruins the experience. I don't want to chew so thoroughly on my first sip before I can drink some more, it's more work for my mouth. The flavor was nothing special. I tasted only pineapple, pineapple, pineapple. There was no hint of lime (even though I can see the sliced lime) or jasmine green tea. It wasn't sweet, so that was the one good point about it. But unless you love pineapple, perhaps a different drink would be a better option. 2.5/5 I would say the portions here are good for the price. It is still a bit more expensive than a non-vegan joint, but not overly so, and you won't be still hungry afterwards in your efforts to be more health-conscious about what you eat. The food is fresh and clean, and I feel more perky after my meal, which is quite rare. I'd love to stop by and try the other things they have to see what else is good. read more

Not sure about the Bao (assume it would be the same) but with the burgers - and the sandwiches too - they will instead wrap it all in lettuce for you. But there is no gluten-free actual bread options.

We arrived before the lunch rush, so we were seated immediately and started ordering soup dumplings, rice rolls and a variety of other delicious dim-sum options. We ate our faces off. I failed to read my receipt wrong and forgot to add enough for tip and was reminded to by the manager which I thought was a bit odd. I don't mind providing tip, which It would have been easy to if their systems were working, but I don't like when a restaurant begs for it when you could pay your workers a fair wage. I would come back, but please don't beg for tip especially when it's difficult to do so.

The special lunches come with a little fried rice, cold garlic flavored noodle, choice of egg drop or hot and sour soup, and main side. My buddies all enjoyed their meals. The beef chow fun was also really good and beef was nice and tender. The xiao long baos were excellent and is comparable to any place in California like DTF. Nice and juicy and great with some ginger, soy sauce, and spicy chili. Friendly service and food comes out pretty quickly. Credit card is accepted. Bathroom was also very clean, which is sometimes rare in some Chinese restaurants I have been to. If you're looking for a good Chinese meal, stop here when you're in the Chelsea area.

My friend had the chicken dumplings. He said they were okay. I thought they were overcooked. My steamed shrimp shumai were fine, but steamed, they didn't have much flavour. The edamame, on the other hand, had way too much when it should have almost none. I don't know if it was excess salt, MSG or something else, but not good. I should have sent them back. I hope this was just an off night for the kitchen.

The service was good and the food was piping hot. Everyone was happy with their meal. Plus, they give you a lot of food. I had plenty to take home. I would come back and try some other things.

It's one of the larger stalls in the market and has some seating, but not enough, and the market seating is very limited as well. I ordered the hibiscus lemonade and the very spicy Dan Dan Mian. I loved watching the staff prepare the noodles while waiting. My bowl was huge and absolutely delicious. It was very spicy as promised, but not too spicy that it was rendered not enjoyable.
